Food was good beer was cold what more could you ask.

Excellent place to stay and dine. Awesome restaurant with an open fire.

Stayed here for the night after a tiring day experiencing snow for the first time. Clean, comfy, warm, cozy and good breakfast too. Service was very very good and friendly. Will be back if we were ever around again. Thank you!

Nice cozy hotel. Prices are reasonable. Food is really good. Kids meals are a little pricey at $15 but are a decent size and come with a drink and icecream. Would recommend it definitely. Super clean everything.

Ultimately this was a great place to stop for dinner and a beer or two. The food was great, though took a little longer than expected to come, and was also a few $$ more than I would have liked, however the cozy atmosphere, friendly staff and pool table made up for it.

Great location. Food is wonderful. Best steak I had for a very long time. Cooked to perfection and a wonderful cut. Service was very friendly and the place had a very homely vibe. This place has history. Don't expect a modern fancy venue.

Great location hidden away just after the spur heading out towards Eildon. Good food, great atmosphere, places to stay. They also offer four wheel drive training and lake mountain ski gear hire. Plenty of bush tracks nearby if you want to go for a drive off the beaten track for something different from regular of boring black top.

Nice atmosphere and delicious food! It’s a bit of a step up from your typical pub menu but definitely in a good way. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Always worth stopping in for a feed.

Been here a few times and called in today on way back from a weekend away. Food was nice enough, although nothing startling and the service was not too bad. Place has a nice feel to it and I will come back.

It has a great appeal and the meals were awesome. I was mainly there for the drive but it was a great place to have a nice quiet dinner.

Just exceptional! A shining light in the region that leads in food, service and environmentals. The Chef was even kind enough to make my wife a Vegan creation of their own design, which looked and tasted incredible. I would recommend to anyone and would gladly return. Thank you so very much.

Great food, Great service and great fresh cold beers on tap! Pool table, fire place and a local wombat made our afternoon. Stayed the night in one of their room upstairs — very clean. Breakfast included! Coffee was fresh and piping hot! Will be back on the way through again!

Good was very well cooked. Had the Wagyu steak medium rare. Would recommend. A good place for dinner or drinks. Will definately be visiting again.

What a wonderful experience! Promptly greeted & shown to be best seat in the house. We watched a kookaburra in the tree as we read the menu. The share plate we ordered was perfect (thank you chef). Being a cool May day, the warmth of the wood fire was welcoming. A big thank you to Jane for making this visit more wonderful than my Japanese guest could have imagined. Big thumbs up!

Great hotel in the forest. The setting is beautiful. The staff were really welcoming and competent. Dinner was excellent and breakfast very good. Our room was really good, comfy queen size bed, comfy single bed, sofa bed not great (but when is a sofa bed ever great). Avoid room 8 though: there is a very noisy piece of equipment on the ground floor underneath room 8 that we could hear the whole night. We could also feel the vibrations through the floor and beds. Great value for money, we would return but not to the same room.

Obviously not enough business to turn their stock of food over in the kitchen, got severe food poisoning from their chicken Parma. Will never set foot in there again.

Stayed in the bunkhouse on the weekend. Basic but comfortable and clean accommodation, food and hospitality was great. Highly recommended.

On the weekend I dropped in for a meal at the Black Spur Inn just to say that I was most disappointed with the fact that they DO NOT cater for vegetarians besides a bowl of chips and a carrot and leak soup. I was so embarrassed sitting at the table whilst my friends were having meals that suited them and all I was offered was just a bowl of chips or a carrot and leak soup. The lady of the counted offered no alternative whatsoever nor did she even offer to speak to the chef just to see if he could whip something up for me. So for those that are Vegetarians just like me, this is not the place you would want to dine at. For this I rate it just 1 star.

29th October 2013; Maureen and Ken, Mornington Peninsula A short break at the Black Spur Inn is a "shot in the arm" when a few days away from home is called for. Dianne and her staff provided excellent service during our two night stay in the newly refurbished Premier King room. Excellent sized room with lots of natural light, all the amenities, comfortable king bed, a large screen TV with video, a speaker charging dock for the iPhone and comfy bucket chairs to relax in (unlike many places where one sits in a chair and the other sits on the bed). We also had the option of a front balcony and a rear smaller access balcony. After a fair lunch en-route night one was a relaxed dinner and, following our waitress recommendation it was the homemade Chicken Parma — ripper! Desert? "If possible, may we take a Cheese Board to our room to enjoy with the in room supplied port? " Of course was the reply and off we went with quite a range of cheese, fruit and biscuits. After a day of travels around the district it was time for our dinner (part of our second night Wine, Dine and Stay a While package. A delightful bottle of Wild Boy — Wood Point Wines was supplied and we settled into a fine meal. We started with the Regional Taste Plate to share and followed with (1) Snapper Fillets with parsley and almond butter, mash and greens and (2) Crunchy Baked Chicken Supreme with a basil parmesan and semi-dried tomato filling, mash and greens.

Such a shame. My food was gorgeous but my husband's chicken parma was actually RAW and when we complained they just took his half chewed bits and put them back in the oven for a few minutes and then served them straight back to him! Extraordinary! No apology or offer of a discount or anything and the staff were clearly very irritated by us complaining.

Good giant Parma. $22. Only place open in this black hole of a town. Maybe the other places should be open s at dinner time instead of whining no one comes to town.
