Had my birthday party in the Banksia room — it was just one great night! Everything went according to plan from the room decor to the meal service. The 2 course meals were cooked to perfection and my guests had nothing but praises for the cooks! Special mention to Suzan, Paul and Hayley who were so helpful with our requests and assisted us all night. Thanks too to Polly who was my contact person from the beginning. She is so flexible and accommodating to my special requests. And to the DJ Scotte — he was so professional spinning all my fave songs right up to the end though the dance floor was pretty empty as the night wore on. I will not hesitate to recommend this place for future functions!

Went for dinner at the Bistro last night and was SO impressed to see vegan options on the menu! I ordered the chickpea and cauliflower curry and it was delicious! Great to see that venues like this are beginning to cater for different people, will definitely be back! Great service and staff were lovely ❤️

Amazing food, the seafood platter is delicious, huge and to die for. Incredible atmosphere, staff are fantastic! Would definitely recommend! & try the warm sticky date pudding with ice cream ❤️ incredible venture to visit!

Very average food for the price, I can see why the bistro was nearly empty on a Thursday night, yesterdays bread rolls served. I won’t be back in a hurry.

Average food even for the cheap prices. Went on a nice Sunday for lunch and we were one of 2 tables. I think there is a reason it's not busy.

Went there for lunch today and not impressed. They advertise a “buy one, get one free” deal but wasn’t told until I’d ordered one of the “specials” that I had to order both meals off the main menu to receive the free meal. My daughter’s steak was good, salad was OK but the chips were lukewarm and soggy. My “Trawlers plate” was horrible. Salad OK, chips as above and the seafood consisted of a piece of pre packaged imported fish, three prawns that weren’t even bite size, two calamari rings and a scallop of dubious heritage. Despite there being only ten people in the room, six already eating, it took over 30 minutes for our meals to arrive. The only highlight was the lady behind the bar who was lovely. First and last time I’ll be visiting!

Prices are a little on the steep side given the quality of food. The carbonara was very watery and almost everything is covered in parsley — even the nachos! The chef is not at all open to substitutions or changes (even when we offered to pay extra), and the flavours were quite bland.

Been to this pub twice, like it. Worth the drive from frankston. Need to train the staff on fox football tuning tho. Great feed.

I've only been there to eat and have a drink or two. Nice food, well equipped facilities. My only gripe is you need to pay in advance from the counter each time. But otherwise it's a decent joint.

While it was nicely renovated for the price, the actual staying in the hotel side of things leaves a lot to be desired if you're staying with a family. Noise — in the rooms the windows are paper thin, so you here every person enter/exit the club all night and the road noise the rest of the time. Parking — the parks for the rooms are tiny and the are more rooms than parks so requires a 20 point turn to get out when overfilled. Cleaners — they were still in the room an hour and half after check-in time started and were only half done when we opened the door after a 5 hour drive to get there, forcing us to stand outside and wait for them to finish as it started to rain so they rushed and only half did things. Other than that it was pretty good, the larger rooms would suit a group of friends rather than people with kids.

Good place to have a drink — staff range from very happy to those that seem to hate being there which unfortunately comes across as snappy as I witnessed during my visit. The place has a nice feel to it so will go for a meal next time.

At the hotel dinner was great very affordable and delicious service was also good.
We had the same girl book us in to the room. Seat us in the restaurant and answer all our questions and serve us at the bar. She was an asset.

Morning Melodies on the last Friday of the month offer morning tea with scones. An hour of live entertainment followed by a 3 course lunch all for $20 plus a $2 voucher for in house use on the day. A great deal and a wonderful way to meet friends for a morning's fun.

My colleagues and I decided to have lunch in the bistro today and the service was fantastic for once! We were greeted by the manager Violet and she served us at the counter with a smile. She has a great sense of humour and we will definitely come back! The $15 express lunch comes with a free drink which we thought was a great deal too!

Food is normal pub food. Good atmosphere in the bistro section. Has a good indoor playground for kids. Good food portions and always yummy.

Been there a long time, I drank there 50odd years ago hasn't changed much bit more modern as one would expect excellent hotel.

Just very average quality. But was open on a public holiday. Venue needs a refurbishment. Helpful staff.

Great place! Very affordable prices! Just came here to relax as I was visiting a friend in Springvale. Their hot chocolate was great, for such a price I did not expect it to come with an actual piece of chocolate served on the side of it. Nice experience :)

Been coming to the waltz since I was very young, have had some great family dinners. I've never been disappointed with the food. Just recently had my 30th dinner there. They have a great play area for kids as well.

Brilliant it was our 22nd year together and we re lived our first date that we had there. Thank you.

Food at the restaurant was good. Shower does not have a proper draining system, the water floods the entire bathroom floor. Noisy. Uncomfortable sleep. Waited long at reception.

Went through the drive through for someone else to buy something. Friendly fast service. Even the security guard was helpful. My friend was struggling to open the car door as had drinks in both hands & he came up & opened it for him.

Great atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and helpful and helped to resolve an issue with a kids meal quickly and with a smile.

My family had dinner at the waltzing matilda hotel. Food was average for the price, but service was fine. Not keen to try again though.

Me and my girlfriend went to this venue with the intent of having dinner. But we were refused entry because my girlfriend did not have her id on her but neither of us were drinking or entering the games area. Never knew it was illegal to have a meal… only thing I was told was *just in case a cop wanted to check* guess if they treat young couples like this I will not be going back.

Christmas lunch was terrific. Lots of good food, staff friendly. We will be back.

Went here for dinner. We both ordered what was supposed to be flathead fillets w chips & salad. The oily slimey tablespoon of salad was accompanied by the worst chips. Soggy and over cooked, not crisp at all. And the fish was unrecognizable as flathead fillets, and tasted disgusting. This over priced rubbish was obviously left on the plate. We could have gone for fish and chips just down the road and a far better quality meal for less than half the price! Needless to say that we won't be going back anytime.

Pretty good pub food. Well priced. Kids playground was enjoyed by kids attending the function. Vegetarian options are limited and unfortunately the pokies are very obvious.

If only there was a minus rating! We had a large table that we booked for and our meals came out over 45mins apart. Meals were forgotten. Meals were sent back because they were freezing. Meals were horrible. Other tables were getting their food (same meals we ordered but hadnt recieved) before our table was finished being served. Someone got a starter when another was eating dessert! Only plus was staff were friendly.

Came in for a beer after several years. Polite young lady got me a beer and I got some $ out. Doubled my money in 15 minutes took it out finished the beer now home. A nice little time out from the walls here.

Not bad room but dripping shower needed fixing, clean and well equipped (TV fridge kettle etc) Staff were friendly enough, just a bit noisy at night. I would stay here again.

Both my wifes meal and mine where tasteless garlic butter was unedible had to scrap it of the steak cold meal only about 6 couples in the whole place so no excuse for cold meals will nevet recommend this place to anyone.

Walked in and the atmosphere was good but the bistro almost empty. Waited ages to be seated and then waited ages to be served at the bar. There was only one staff member working in the whole bistro. We waited a while for our food. The bruschetta was good. The chicken schnitzel and veggies were not enjoyable, aside from the mash potato which was nice. The issue though was we ordered gravy to go on the chicken and vegetables and we didn't get it until the food was cold. This was after asking for it twice and going up to get it and found it sitting there going cold. Staff didn't seem to care that we were going to eat cold food with cold gravy. This was our first time here and would have become a regular place for me to go if I had of had a better experience.

This is in regards to the rooms. The bar the restraunt deserve 5 stars, but the rooms. Holes in walls, flashing paint on a bath, missing light fittings, absolutely shocking.

I found staff inattentive. Waited for a while at the bar to get a drink and even though there was no-one else around, was hard to be acknowledged. The staff were then unfriendly. The menu and bits and pieces were not on the table. Looked like someone started cleaning and did not finish. This sat in one of the empty seats at my table for hours, and the table was dirty from previous patrons… For hours. When we used the toilet there was no flush and we couldn't wash our hands. We spoke to the staff at the bar. They didn't care or give us a way to wash our hands or an explanation or at the very least, validation. We then asked kitchen staff for a way to clean out hands and they helped also telling us that the water was turned off temporarily for some repairs! What the…?

Terrible service. Asked for table near kids play area. The table was the furtherest from the play centre. Kids supposed to eat free on Fridays. We said on arrival we had a discount voucher. When paying they over charged us and the only manager on duty was a training assistant manager. Issues not resolved. Doubt if we ever go back.

Decent food, though the menu was a bit sparse and could definitely do with a bit more variety. The bars are great if you there for beers and the footy, however the beer lines need a good clean the beer comes out a little flatter than you'd like.

The food was good and the girls seving were excellent. There was room to move and it wasn't too noisy. One of the bar staff was disorganised so we had drinks but no glasses for 5 minutes.

Consistently good, I rate it 5/5 based on what it is, a hotel. And it does it well. Big screens, playground, dining, bar, events. Keep up the good work.

Decided to stay at this hotel & it was awful. Rooms outdated, so noisy, it was ridiculous. No sleep at all. Do not stay here ever!

Shit service. 3 of the meals turned up when everybody else was finishing theirs. Steak sandwich was dog food with a crusty roll. The empty plates were left on the table until I asked for somebody to collect them. The place was empty, but struggled to get a drink! Stick that up your arse. We won't be back.

Was very disgusted with the meal and service. 8 people on the table 5 get their meal finish their meal then the other 3 get their meal. After confronting them their excuse was we forgot. Not good enough!

Went for Xmas day buffet lunch. For a buffet, the choices was very limited. It was like roast, rice and pasta. Boring. Has gone down hill from recent years. Been going for Xmas lunch for a number of years. Not sure if we will continue the tradition.

The chef may have been having a bad night but I won't ever be back to find out… the pumpkin soup was bland and tasteless … sent back. Was offered a coffee as compensation… never showed… the chicken snitzel as a main was hard and over cooked and was pre-maid from elsewhere … basically I have had better meals in the worst roadhouses across Australia for less cost from someone who hasn't been trained to cook!

ONCE WAS MORE THAN ENOUGH! Went down for to the Waltzing Matilda for the first time EVER,,, and will he my last, (you got our money this time, but we knew no better, fool me once), we ordedred a meal each, waited 25 minutes, in that time the people that sat at the table beside us, and ordered after us got there meal (which was identical to our 2) and still we waited, by the time we got to 40 minutes, I decided to go enquire, the lady who took the orders was awsome (clearly working in the wrong place), was apologetic, when she asked the kitchen staff he bit her head off rudely, snapping at her,, she offered us drinks and dessert, but I just wanted my meal, 45 minutes it took for a bloody burger and a chicken and avocado dish, that didnt even have the BLOODY AVOCADO, table 24 meals orded on tue housos nite at 7.30pm NEVER NEVER NEVER EAT THERE, I hope that young girl with the blond hair and the great people skills finds a better job in a more professional environment where she will be appreciated.

The meals were of an unacceptable quality so I sent it back to the kitchen. It was then returned to me (UNCHANGED) with the waitress apologetic stating the chef said "it is what it is. " I emailed management, who replied with a generic email but never bothered to follow up with a phone call. I ordered the salt and pepper calamari with chips only, my wife had a parma and the kids a bowl of chips with gravy and a snitzel with chips. The meals came out pretty quickly but when I saw my meal I was disappointed firstly because there was salad on the dish (that I had asked for NO salad), but also the size of the overall meal. There were only a few small pieces of calamari and a hand full of chips. I looked at the other meals and noticed the quality of the chips on the snitzel. They were overcooked, and most were the crispy hard pieces you sometimes get a couple of on a dish which is usually fine but almost all of them were like that. I said to my wife I should take these back but she said don’t worry the kids are hungry and they’ve already started eating it. I still approached the two young girls working behind the bar with my calamari. On presenting the dish they totally agreed and sent one girl to speak with the chef as she was “better at that sort of thing” as the other girl pointed out. She came back very apologetic with the EXACT, UNCHANGED meal stating that the chef said “it is was it is”. How dare they send a meal back as is when I clearly asked for chips only.

Had the chicken Parma. Packet Parma and 3/4 the size you would get going anywhere else. The chips were NQR. How do you bugger up chips? We also had the scotch fillet. This was satisfactory although you get one slice of mushroom in the mushroom sauce?

As we are from out of town this place ha been very convenient for us for lunch when we are dealing with the caravan people nearby. And over a four year period have always found the place pleasant and reasonably priced. However our visit yesterday has made me change my mind. It took several minutes to find 6 chairs to put around a table which were not covered in sticky drink splashes. The floor was sticky as were the table top and bar. The meal I had, lambs fry and beacon, was minuscule (and I'm not normally a big eater) My advice … bring in some cleaners and give the eating area a good wash down.

I attended the Waltzy for Christmas Lunch with 22 family members and Everyone LOVED it! The food was beautiful and the service was excellent. Thanks for a great day and a belated Merry Christmas to the team! We will certainly be seeing you again in this new year :)
