Sundown Villas

Stayed in the Spa Villa with boyfriend midweek.
Villa looked nice from outside was spacious, however inside the bath had dirt marks and the bath gel and shampoo dispensers were empty. I spoke to reception, one lady was rolling her eyes. The lady gave me mini shampoo bottles and said depends if staff avaliable to clean spa. I asked for a hairdryer they said must be stolen they didnt give me one until last day of the trip. We asked for late checkout and they demanded us to be out on time as they had big group staying. We didnt feel welcomed at all.
I asked about the pool and they said it was closed for maintenance and bistro was closed.
The next day they cleaned the bed but didnt take the rubbish or take our towels or give us fresh towels we had to collect them.
These guys in villa next to us threw out dead meat into our bin so it was overflowing rubbish man almost vomited.
On the last day we had flys and cockroach in the villa and insects in spa bath.
Reception called me 1030am as they forgot I requested a late checkout. I felt like they were trying to hurry us to leave.
The accomodation was average and seemed run down. It was pretty far from the shops and tourist attractions.
It seemed the reception staff only wanted to do bare minimum.
I was very disapointed! It seemed like a case of false advertising and defintely wasnt worth the price. Reception customer service were apalling.
I wouldnt recommend staying here its better value staying at a hotel.

We went here fora school excursion and this place is very beautiful. Everything was good and was amazing and has very good service. I like the place they chose to build this place because it is kinda close to the mountain ranges. The food was amazing too but, the scrambled eggs taste tasteless and the had a very weird texture. (Sorry) The room on the other hand, the window had like a idk? Poop? It was massive man. The floor was very tidy when our school went there. (We sorta made it a teeny bit messy heheheheheh. 😅) I loved the maintenance there they were like, "Would you like some pasta? " Then after they would say, " Here you go! " So niccceeee! I hope this helped!

It's pretty fair three star sufficient but not amazing in any way accommodation.
Beds are comfy though in one bedroom the bed was really all that fit. Literally.
Aircon works but not superbly.
Kitchenette is suitable for simple cooking.
Shower was amazing though the bathroom was nothing special.
Really it's fine for a basic place to stay at a good price.

Stayed 2 nights in room 204, well located, spotlessly clean, friendly staff, private parking spot. Pool was the best part of our stay clean, well maintained.
Nakita and Kim at reception were real angels. Definitely returning back.

Sundown Villas is a quite estate getaway… in a tranquil setting just across the mountain views. The rooms are dated but have been freshly painted and some tiles in the shower have been replaced: it is fine if you spend most of the day sightseeing or just resting. Good tv, I loove the tennis court and pool is alright (could be cleaner). Staff is easygoing and quick check in, each villa has a parking spot outside the front door (easy to unload from the boot) it is quite place, close drive to fyshwick markets, local cafes and kingston. For the best price I rang here directly and was able to get a better price than the online booking site. Good stay 👍.

Like one of the other recent reviews I was worried about what I had booked. Turned out I had nothing to worry about. The room was tidy, clean and comfortable. It had all the amenities you could need.
The pool was clean and refreshing in the Canberra heat wave. No issues with the Wi-Fi.
Only complaint I have is the water in the shower wasn't overly warm (not a problem in summer but could be in winter).
For the price point it is perfect.

Well I booked the room for 2 nights and the night before I left I read the reviews and though what did I booked. There was a lot of bad reviews. So I thought if it’s like the reviews I will ask for my money back and leave. I got there on Friday the people at the desk was really nice. Got my key and went to our room. I found it nice and clean it was nothing like the reviews said. The pool was clean. The room was clean we had towels and clean beds. We was close to everything we was going too. We was in room 208. We stayed for 2 night and not once did we have a problem. I would recommend people to stay. I would stay there again. My 7 year old loved it and loved going to the pool and play area. I did not see ants, snakes or anything like the reviews said but one thing I can say is my room smelt like curry but curry is a hard smell to get rid off. All I can say is check it out for yourself and if you’re not happy ask for your money back and leave but don’t go on reviews. For a $108 a night it’s worth it. The only other thing they did not have anywhere you can eat there but that’s okay there’s a supermarket close by and maccas so you can always go to the supermarket and buy what you need and cook there.

I just had a wonderful and comfortable stay here at Sundown. The people, especially Nikita at the office were very friendly & helpful. The rooms were very neat and clean. My two bedroom vila was fully furnished and cozy with many amenities including pool & club. I will definitely stay here again.

We stayed at Sundown Villas in Canberra for 2 nights for a big family occasion more than 120 of us travelled from Sydney and Melbourne and almost everyone was disappointed. The unit was dirty, full of ants and flies that were biting us 🐜🪰 and the money we paid was definitely not worth it. Hygiene was terrible.
We booked two rooms for two families so we could have privacy, but they put three beds in one small unit one bed in a bedroom with the bathroom, and the other beds in the middle of the living room 😤. Where is the privacy? Where are we meant to change or relax when there are kids and adults all together? The whole unit smelled damp and mouldy, really disgusting 🤢.
The bathroom was even worse bad smell, and hair stuck on the wall like stickers 🚿. That is not proper cleaning or hygiene at all. Then, outside our unit (213) we found what looked like a large lizard and a snake right at the front door 🦎🐍. We had kids, elderly people and some with serious phobias, and we were all trying to run away from the door. We called the staff for help several times, especially because we were trying to get ready for our event, and no one bothered to come. We were left standing in the hot sun waiting with no support.
We will never come back to this place and will not waste another dollar here.

I did not enjoy my stay here at all. The carpet was mouldy, rolling shower door kept coming off its tracks and lights flickered.

For the price it was OK, however my Grandkids found a tablet that had been dropped by who knows how long ago visitors. I emailed their reception 2 weeks ago and had no response. So I’d say that was a bit lax on the cleaning side. Don’t know what the pill was/is but it was a very light shade of yellow.

The room was nothing as expected. The bed sheets / pillow cover weren’t changed. There were no towels in room.

We have stayed at this places a couple of times very affordable Staff are very friendly Just had a recent stay with them Had a small issue with the room staff quickly reacted and had us put in another room Which we were very grateful for their quick reaction in service I would highly recommend for a family to stay here.

Came here on a school camp so I can't speak about pricing, but the rooms we slept in were ok. Nothing was too special about our cabins, food or facilities. The location however, is great for those who want to experience Canberra. A 10 minute drive from Sundown Villas can take you anywhere in Canberra be it Parliament House or the War Memorial.

We had the dual access bathroom unit (room 283) in a quiet section of the park, just behind reception.
The crockery and cutlery were dirty, some caked with food and obviously not washed by previous guests. Toiletries (shampoo, conditioner and body lotion) were used as well. Kettle was very dirty, this can easily be rectified by boiling some lemon juice a couple of times, or using a steriliser like Milton.
There were long hairs in the towels and blankets.
When we told reception of these issues, they said they'd bring it up with housekeeping, but there was no apology or anything.
We did not explore the park as it seemed most of us was "private access" and off limits to temporary guests only there for a short stay.
Like other reviews mentioned, we had an issue with ants too, but there were 2 cans of surface spray under the sink, so we sprayed a barrier across the door and killed the ants.
The carpet was noticeably dirty/stained and loose in parts. There was dust, cobwebs and mould in sections of the unit.
The shower door was broken, but we had hot water and the water pressure was strong.
We found the location lovely and quiet and not too far away by car for most attractions.
Overall, I assume this is one of the cheaper accommodation options, so we did get what we paid for.
I would probably stay again if I knew I didn't have to clean up after previous guests before being able to have a break myself.

Will definitely stay again when in Canberra.
We stayed in a unit which was well equipped with a kitchenette so we didn’t need to live on takeout.
Staff were amazing.
Room was clean and tidy.
Could have been a little cleaner, but as a cleaner myself, I just notice things more. 🤣

Alternative rooms:
1. Mould throughout and fridge invested with mould.
2. Room as per booking but no aircon, only hot water and ants. But had fans and ability to cross ventilate.
3. Room not as per booking. Supposed to have working aircon but did not work either. Smelled very mouldy and no ventilation.
We went with option 2 despite of the issues as mould is a significant health hazard.
All rooms need some serious TLC and with 41 degrees C should have working aircon!
Staff did their best to accommodate to the inconvenience but some refurbishment would be the longer term solution!
