Myself and my wife and daughter went to the restaurant for tea and it was hand's down the best pub meal experience we have had for years. Fantastic food and the staff were absolutely awesome. Highly recommend them.

Staff were all happy to serve you, wait for a meal was not long & overall it was friendly, great service even down to helping serve the b/day cake we'd bought with us, we had a gr8 lunch thank you!

Rooms spotless, some of the cleanest public toilets I’ve seen and the steak was cooked to perfection!

We stayed at the Federal on Boxing Day during one of our golfing trips. Our room was clean and comfortable. We had a delicious meal in the restaurant. We used a voucher from our entertainment book! We received excellent service.

The bar staff were outstanding, I would like to mention a bar girl called chrystl which looked after us tonight and was both very accomodating and very professional adhering to the covid 19 guidelines yet still providing a wonderful fun experience. She should be commended.

We stayed at the Federal Hotel for 1 night on our travels thru SA. Room was great for the 1 night, beds were so comfortable and location was fantastic.
Went for a meal in the Bistro, we had a serious issue with our Schnitzels but was resolved so professionally we could not fault.
Great place and the staff were fantastic minus 1 sour girl who needs to change professions!

In Mt Gambier for a few days so decided to have dinner with friends as used to like The Federal when I lived here.
Walking in the first thing I saw was a fish tank in need of a good clean. Unfortunately our reserved table was right next to it.
The meals were all ok for a pub meal, they came out in reasonable time and all the orders were correct.
was enjoying the company of our friends until a young lady started singing. Dont get me wrong she had an amazing voice, it was just far too loud for 6.30pm in a dining room. My friends and I couldnt hear each other talk. We actually stopped talking til the break between songs. The kids were complaining it was too loud too. The over powering sound really killed the chatty atmosphere.
I think the singer would be better off singing in the bar. I would love to listen to her sing in a bar while having kid free drinks with friends. Nothing against her thou, she does have an amazing voice.

Apparently the manager will take the word of his assistant manager over a customer (according to him this is not calling me liar — he just believes her version). Poor communication of changes to terms and conditions. I will never set forth in this venue or any other ALH Group owned businesses.

Went here on Friday night with a group booking, I contacted in advanced to see if a vegan meal could be made for me and the chefs delivered a spectacular meal, full of flavour and colour.
It was a very busy night and they still had super friendly staff and produced delicious food, I highly recommend
Next time I'm in Mt Gambier I'll be back.

Been there 4 times over 3-4 weeks with family and friends for lunch and have tried beef snitty with mushroom sauce, t bone steak, salt and pepper calamari and the fish and chips all were good and service from the staff was good as well as friendly from the order taking to the table service and drinks and of course the 2 4 1 lunch deals what more do you want
Quite happy to recommend on my experiences there.

Very dissapointed in our meals tonight, for a venue that apparently supplies gluten free meals the chips aren't even gluten free so there was nothing on the menu my child could eat. Most of our group didn't enjoy their meals as the snitzels were dry and the topping over saucy. The salad bar was also dissapointing and had to be reminded that they forgot 2 of our kids desserts and we were the last in the venue as it wasn't busy.
