We wish we’d decided to stay longer in cairns. YHA was great accommodation in a great location, nothing was was to much trouble for staff and they really made you feel at ease.

Brilliant place to stay, good location and lots of friendly people.

One of the best hostel stays! Great on-site pool and a very social atmosphere. Spacious kitchen and common areas. Always something going on to keep you entertained. The only downside is that private rooms are very tiny and rooms with ensuite have to be booked well in advance.

All the staff are friendly… everybody is good. ♥️

Great location close to the reef fleet terminal. Nice staff and good value for money if you dont want to be in the party area to get some sleep.

Great location. YHA hostel so I knew the rooms and facilities would be clean and well maintained.

The hostel is very clean and everyone was friendly. They provide free breakfast pancakes everyday. Also, have fun things happening in the evening. There is a big pool in the centre and the kitchen is nice and spacious and plenty of room for you to sit and eat with friends. The room I got was a 4 person room. It was nice and neat and pretty spacious. YHA also provides airport shuttle for $5 (and give $10 to the driver). Overall, it was a very good experience.

Good basic facilities. Clean n comfy beds. Good kitchen. Extra activities put on nightly. Helpful staff. Only downfall. Is really noisy, nearly all thru the night.

Decent hostel but with very little atmosphere. Rooms are very basic; no sink and very limited space. Facilities are ok. Free pancakes for breakfast are great.

I spent 5 nights at Cairns Central YHA just recently. The staff were very helpful organising my extra tours while I was in Cairns. The location of the hostel is excellent, so close to the shopping centre and the railway station and just a short walk from Marlin Wharf if you want to visit Green Island. Check out the free pancake breakfast while you are there. If I ever return to Cairns it would be the first place I would visit for accommodation. :-)

I am here on a school trip. I went into the room and nothing was cleaned. There stained blood on my mattress pad and coffee stains. There was hair all over the place. I couldn’t walk without any shoes on. The house keeping is extremely rude. The manager was also extremely rude. Would not recommend staying here.

Love it here. Very helpful staff. Free pancakes EVERY morning too. Across the road from the main shopping mall so groceries are easily accessible.

A very clean and nice hostel with very friendly staff and a happy atmosphere. I can recommend this hostel chain to everybody. :-)

Stayed only for one night but I received a great service and the room was pretty clean. (4 bed female dorm with ensuite) Backyard and pool area looked inviting and clean, big kitchen offers heaps of space for all guests. Only annoying factor was the key card which didn't work properly — had to try about 10 times. Addressed the issue and learned it's been an ongoing issue for years. Good luck to the staff and crossing my fingers that it will be fixed soon! Thanks for having me ❤️

The location is nice, just a short walk from the boardwalk. The rooms vary quite a bit. Our room was tiny and had excessive water pressure that would always spray us. However, one of the other rooms was large and had a kitchen and living room so it all depends on the room.

A chilled hostel, awesome place to meet new people. The staff are all helpful and friendly. Good location. Highly recommended.

This hostel is so good for the money. It is clean & hygienic and the staff come round to clean the kitchen, bathroom, rooms etc every day. The kitchen is spacious so even though there are a lot of guests, no matter what time you go at you can generate find a free hob or table space to make meals. There's also plenty of fridge and cupboard storage in here for all the guests. As well as that there's a free food shelf and fridge and a clothing bank and other amenities box so as to minimise waste! It's a great atmosphere here as there is a range of ages and guests which means you don't feel out of place. There's plenty of seating areas: indoor, outdoor and under cover outside. The location is great as it's right next to a big shopping centre with supermarkets. It's around a 15 minute walk to the main harbour for great barrier reef trips, and about 10 minutes from the beach/lagoon/promenade area. My only faults with The hostel: The Wi-Fi is free and good in the reception area, and near by. Out with that (in your room! ) you need to pay. I paid 15 dollars for a full week though, and it's pretty good Wi-Fi! Just was an unexpected cost but as it was quite cheap it didn't bother me too much. The rooms can get a bit cold at night as with the air con there's only an on/off switch. With it being on most of the the day then it all night I found I needed the thicker duvet provided.

Nice new clean bathrooms. Twin room was very small but again clean. Aircon in the rooms, nice pool and some evening activities. Free pancakes in the morning but don't get your hopes up as they can be quiet bad and slow depending on who is making them. About 20 minutes walk from the Lagoon in town.

The rooms are small but correct and clean.
The common areas are great.
Highlight the kitchen and the bathroom that for so many people keep it very clean and tidy.
Recommended.

Worst hostel I have been to in carins facilities are good rooms are great, staff sucks apart from a few, they ask me to leave cause I was talking too to people and the night manager isn't socialising the point of staying at a hostel?

Nice and clean hostel. Best thing about the place are the pool noodles. 5 Stars just for them.

Clean room and friendly/helpful staff. It is a pretty big hostel with a large kitchen, lots of fridges and a free pancake breakfast. The pool is small but lovely and well maintained.

Still nice place but not very well maintanced since last time I was there. Friendly service and reasonable price for good place to sleep and also enjoy all other visitors from around the world.

We had a great private room with ensuite for a great price. Friendly and helpful staff and great pancake breakfasts!

The second visit, the staff is very friendly and friendly, Hostel has hanging chairs, small swimming pools, small pavilions and so on, rich in equipment. There is a bar nearby, a little noisy at night, but it is acceptable.

Nice place, great staff. Kitchen is large and nice. Pool is nice for soaking but not usable to swim laps. The only major negatives here is that beds are not comfortable and there is no locking cold storage for food.

I love this place! There are movie nights with huge screen in a week and free food. Free pancakes at 7 am everyday. Big kitchen, lovely staff, clean bathroom and nice swimming pool.

Clean, but noisy. Mainly for youth but i've also met people of up to 80yo. Free pancakes (if you eat once you won't repeat that mistake). Luggage storage is really expensive (up to 11dollars/day). Private rooms are tiny. Kitchen is OK.

Good rooms. Staff is incredibly helpful. They helped me book a shuttle at the last minute. A bit far from esplanade but the mall is close for handy shopping list.

Amazing place. Would have to be our best accommodation yet. Family rooms are clean and spacious, with an en suite, fridge, kettle and air conditioner. Kitchen facilities are well-equipped and kept clean with a well-organised fridge and food storage system and recycling bins. There's also a BBQ that can be used with a $20 deposit. Laundry facilities have 3 washers and dryers, as well as ample washing line space to dry outside. Luggage storage facilities for $5/pn. The pool and jacuzzi look inviting, but haven't dipped a toe in to sample them. Walking distance into the CBD and close to the railway station. Lots of activities happening, including a movie night. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful, but a big shout-out to Hannah, who went out of her way to help us. Cannot recommend this YHA highly enough. Very cost effective option for travelling families.

A great place for backpackers and others seeking affordable travel options. The hostel has excellent kitchen facilities and a friendly atmosphere. The tours they recommended were well represented and booked efficiently. This is a great example of what a hostel should be.

Just stayed for 3 nights — would not recommend to anyone looking for a lively hostel with a good vibe, very strange to see so many people over the age of 60 in a hostel. Not well located for beach and clubs. Although has great air con.

Strongly recommend. YHA has well managed, friendly and helpful staffs, nice place, quiet and relaxing, and very clean with reasonable price. Respectful people in sharing community. The hostel is located near shopping centre and easy to go to the other places in Cairns.
If your room is near jagucci which quite a bit noisy and may annoy you until 10 p. M. Wearing ear plugs will help you to take a rest before the swimming zone close time. If you don't want to, let staffs know when you make a booking. Anyway, I'll be back to visit YHA again if I have a chance. Thank you for making my holiday so wonderful.

So far I can say that this is a lovely place to stay, staff are very friendly and accommodating even with last minute requests. Plenty of fridge space and seating available, good Wi-Fi connection for free in communal areas and instant boiled water tap for hot drinks, only suggestion would be that their should be lockers or individual locked cupboards in the dormitory rooms. This place is also opposite a shopping centre and very close to pubs, clubs and doctors making it an ideal location for most.

I wonderful Hostel run by wonderful people. I have traveled extensively and stayed in numerous hostels throughout the world but, this place is in a league of its own. From the staff who, always have a smile on their face and cannot do enough to help you in finding the Ideal tours, local knowledge etc. Thoroughly clean and very well maintained it is without question, in my mind, the best hostel in Queensland. Swimming pool surrounded by Palm trees, free pancakes for breakfast and close to a shopping mall across the road and within walking distance of bars, restaurants and the promenade, Cairns YHA is the ideal accommodation for the budget traveller. Public bus services 110 and 111 respectively can take you to Palm Cove Beach and Trinity Beach from the bus stop some 150-200yds on McLeod Street at a cost of 11 and 9 Australian dollars return. The journey takes around 45 minutes and is a regular service in both directions throughout the day. For backpackers arriving by air, a free complimentary transfer service from Cairns airport to the hostel is available.

Excellent staff service. Very clean and efficient. Very quite though had a great atmosphere. Would definitely come back. Definitely good value for money.

I stayed here august 2014. Loved the accommodation. Close to everything. Pool great and spa. Great staff good help.

There's a mix of people staying here — from grey nomads to the 18 year olds. It's beautiful to see and be part of multiple generations existing together. With that being said, it still has a very young and social feel! The place is very clean, alwith a beautiful beachy vibe in the courtyard. Free pancakes every morning are awesome. Airconditioned rooms were great. Rooms were freshly painted Ted the other day (atleast mine was) no nasty paint fumes, but the room looks very nice. The staff was incredibly helpful with everything — from getting me I to my room to helping me change my tour plans. Thanks for a great stay!

Cairns Central YHA is a lovely place, while it may not be resort like, it certainly does what it needs to do and does it well. Cheap accommodation and pleasant staff make for a great experience.

Such a nice facility and such lovely people! I'm making awesome friends here. There's genuine, sober connection here. We get free pancakes in the morning. I feel exceptionally happy here.

I really enjoyed staying here, staff are super friendly, rooms are clean and have very good air con. Pool and community areas are kept sparceling clean by staff and handy men are quick to fix anything that goes wrong. The manager is clearly very proud of her hostel and it shows in the great way its run. Top marks for this yha.

Great hostel! Spacious rooms, many electrical outlets and good Wi-Fi connection. The pool and hot tub really helped create a fun vibe. And, there are free pancakes for breakfast!

First ever stay at a hostel, very clean and modern facility also great location.

Been here twice. First time was OK, in a four-bed dorm with ensuite bathroom. Second time was really bad, all the four-bed dorms with ensuite was taken, so I went for the expensive option, taking a single room. The single rooms does not have an ensuite, and they are located at the ground floor, next to the common area, where people party to 3am, NOT worth the $60-$65.

Nice YHA… in the middle of Cairns. Rooms and bathrooms are allright. Kitchen was clean. Free Wi-Fi only near the receptiondesk.

Had a great time here two years ago. The staff members were extremely warm and nice and I loved their free pancakes! It's such a relaxing place that will make you feel refreshed. Now I'm on my way there again!

Very good YHA, opposite Cairns Central.

Stayed In a 4 man ensuite. Facilities are good. Had a old man on the bottom bunk who could snore for Australia but there is nothing I can do about that. Only 4 stars because of the lack of parking. Oh and free pancakes in the morning.

I've stayed in hostels all over the world and this is the best! Only downside is lack of free Wi-Fi.

The double rooms are very simple but with air conditioning, bathroom very clean and full private.
The common areas are great. The kitchen is large and spacious, with large refrigerators for storing food. One day Cook there for dinner and all great, there are pots, pans. And it is not scaled.
It has a small swimming pool. Also making different nights a week activities as the night of burgers etc. Every morning there is bread, butter to make toast.
The very nice receptionist. Tours to the barrier reef can be hired from the hostel.
Negative point: there are no Wi-Fii: (. )
