Stayed here for one night — Friday, 08 April. Ladies at Reception were very nice and extremely helpful. Valet was also very nice. Rooms were well appointed, clean, tidy and very comfortable. The noise from the construction site which is right next door started at 6.30am on a Saturday morning. We were not pre warned about construction noise (we arrived in the dark). Just as a heads up, the building next door to the Hotel is only in the early stages of construction so it will be quite some time before it will be a peaceful stay at this Hotel. The "view" we had was overlooking the construction site so again, not pleasant at all. We were advised and it was advertised as beautiful city views. The advertising photo was taken from a high floor and we were placed on Floor 3 with a view of a hole in the ground with scaffolding. We knew we were in for a very late night (arrived back at our hotel at 4am from a function and we thought we would be OK to still catch some zzzzzz s as we had a late 2pm checkout). Could not sleep because of the construction noise and the light streaming in. The curtains in the room were sheer. So, the whole time we were there it was uncomfortable. People being able to see in and also light coming in so sleeping in was not possible. We looked for a blockout curtain however, could not find one. On check out when I mentioned this. We were advised that there is a button you can press which activates auto curtain. Would have been nice to be advised or have something in the room which clearly sets this out as you cannot tell. Apparently there is a button you can press behind the bed somewhere. We certainly did not see it. We booked our room through a Groupon deal and paid $179 for one night's accommodation for 2 people. This included breakfast for 2, car parking and a bottle of red wine (no idea what the wine is like as we did not drink it). Supposed to be a room with beautiful views of the city. Turned out to be views of a hole in the ground construction site. Breakfast was good. Pretty wide selection from buffet including hot, and cold foods, toast, cereals and a selection of fruits and fresh pastries. Juice and coffee were also available. (You pay extra for the coffee $4). Nice hotel however the light streaming into the room and noise from the building site spoilt it for sure. Would not stay again until construction was complete which clearly will not be for some time. We drove home to the Gold Coast to get some sleep. Seemed like a pointless exercise in getting the hotel really as we had next to no sleep.
