Very disappointing, with the current COVID19, stopping everything and everyone in there everyday life, you would think a refund would and should be given to a person, who booked your accommodation, with every intention to stay. Due to this situation being of no fault of our own. I am baffled on how you can not refund or show compassion on this unexpected event. A phone call or email would also be nice.

Great Location and Facilities … It’s has a quiet atmosphere and I find other guests are polite and talkative, The kitchen / dining and lounge areas a very clean and functional and of course — the views are spectacular.

As a senior couple, we do not stay in a lot of hostels. We were attracted to this one by the great reviews online and the amazing location. The Rocks is the place to be in Sydney. The hostel is not disappoint. We had a basic room but very clean and comfortable. Private double with ensuite bath. Good walk in shower. Modern and new. The common areas are great. You can use fridges on the main floor and cook your own meals. Or, you can buy an good breakfast at a reasonable price. There are daily activities to allow socialization such as a wine and cheese, pub crawl, ping pong etc. The staff of very friendly and helpful. We stayed four nights and I would give it 5 stars! Highest recommendation.

Historic or not… ethics are that you post public what you sell. Looking at the www of the B&B you expect a 5***** accommodation … considering the price! … you don't get what you expect. Other than location. Expect nothing then you won't be disappointed. Rooms have shared bathrooms, both bedroom and bathroom were overdue on a clean as they seemingly missed a clean for an extented period already. No effort is made to clean an outside table for breakfast. All in all I am sorry to say but the Sydney Harbour Bed & Breakfast is not worth the buck. There are many alternatives offering better rates @ location. If you are fine paying high end and have no expectations all well. Our stay however was nothing but a disappointment. Very very sad.

My wife and I are in our 60s. First time users of YHA but definitely not the last time. This YHA was fabulous. Rooms were modern and clean and provide good, simple accommodation in the heart of the Rocks, Sydney. The view from the top deck is a million dollar view. The whole building is suspended over an archeological dig of old Sydney town and fascinating. I loved the vibe of people of all ages, teams of young people and kids, couples and singles of all ages in a bright, friendly space.

Fantastic place. Nice new private bathroom, great location and their rooftop terrace has nothing short of breathtaking views across the entire harbor. We booked 1 day in advance and the rates were really good, staff were very friendly, 5/5 will absolutely be staying here next time.

The location is excellent for the price, and the staff are very accommodating. There's no elevator, so be prepared for a few stairs. The rooms are a bit dated, but they are clean and comfortable. Shared bathrooms, but this is common in the area. The bathrooms are also very clean and spacious. Breakfast was fantastic, as you are given an all you can eat wide selection from fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, roasted potatoes, cereal, bagels, and other food items. My only complaint is that it can be a bit difficult to find, as it's located up off of the street level and only has a small sign that's hard to see. Fantastic experience overall and would definitely recommend to those looking for a bit more peace, quiet, and comfort in the Rocks area.

I just made a booking for August 2018 and I want to compliment Martha for helping me so proficiently to book us into the room we requested. She took time to find exactly the type of room we had been in before and booked the one next door for us. A good person to have at reception. Well Done.

Beautifully restored Victorian home in a great location. The rooms are cozy and inviting, albeit simple. Having a parking option able to accommodate a tall campervan was a big plus for us. The only point for improvement is the breakfast, which was pretty lackluster… But the location and unique home more than make up for it.

Great place to stay. Great views from the roof terrace. Staff are helpful. Rooms are clean. There are large and small lockers to store luggage if needed. Less than 10 min walk to the Opera House and 5 min walk to the pylon look out of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Stated twice now when in Sydney and I love it.

By far the most stunning hostel I've stayed at. Built on ruins of the old city you get a great feel of his life must have been before the city grew to what it is now. Information boards, old photos and on a Monday an archaeologist gives a talk. The rooms are fresh and modern and the roof top veiw is stunning. Great location too.

I had an amazing stay at this bed and breakfast. From the very beginning when booking I had a few problems with the direct debit with the booking agency the owner quickly sorted it out for me. They were fantastic with Communications sending emails with instructions and directions before my stay. When I arrived I was seen to straight away the manager took my bags to my room gave me some brochures on Vivid which I was there to see, and told me how to get to different places, he explained the breakfast and showed me how to get in and out of the different rooms. The room was immaculately clean the bathroom was large including a bath and shower accessories. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in I had a fantastic night's sleep with beautiful pillows and soft clean sheets, it had a large screen TV a walk in wardrobe with everything you needed, a hair dryer iron etc a nice heater in the room for winter & air conditioning for summer as well as an outside balcony to sit. The breakfast was simple but nice a selection of bread and cereal as well as fruit and yoghurt also bacon scrambled eggs and beans. I highly recommend this place the location is unbeatable close walking distance to Darling Harbour Circular Quay the Harbour Bridge the Opera House as well as pubs and train stations very Central, beautiful quiet place considering in the middle of the city I will 100% stay again very highly recommended.

Convenient located to the Opera house but a bit hard to find. Signage is hard to see. Everything within walking distance. Room was good enough, clean. Breakfast space was tight. Owner does not reply promptly to e-mail questions. Security alarm went off at 3 am. Called the number on the alarm box, no one answered. Called the emergency number, no one answered. Though there didn't appear to be any kind of emergency, someone should answer the phone. But someone did show up around 4 am.

Superb view on the bridge and the Opera!

Very good place, clean and comfortable. Best bang for buck so far. 10 min walk from circular quay and 10 min with bus to the downtown.

Our private room was really nice and staff there was so helpful. They helped us find everything from good bakeries to fun bar scenes. Also, the upper deck lounge area has a gorgeous view of the Opera House at night and we were close to so many of the sights. We would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic location and value! Opera house views for under $200! A great location for holiday travel with a vibrant set-up. The location over the digs is interesting. Love the way they have been respectfully preserved. Obviously not targeted at business travelers. So if you are one, please keep your expectations in check.

Good hostel with dream roof terrace! Lounge uncomfortable and kitchen too. Rooms often too noisy because Harbour Bridge street mostly hears.

Quirky family run business b&b extremely close to harbour, with breakfast in the garden. Downside is the slightly over egged description on Expedia lacking mention of shared bathroom and a "balcony with city view" which was not exactly an asset. Generous breakfast.

Facilities were good with clean rooms. They had secure door locks with smart card technology. Beautiful view of the Opera House from their upper balcony. There is a shared kitchen and fridge near the lounge area. Staff at the reception was helpful with our requests. Everything is within close distance. There is also an Avis car rental within walking distance. However, you cannot find free parking anywhere nearby. A Wilsons car park is located near by, reception will guide you with instruction.

The breakfast is mediocre, the scrambled eggs are microwaved in a bowl. Not made properly. The tables have a horrible plastic sheet over, like a cheap cafe. Poor value for the money. Not what we had expected or found on the rest of our Australian tour. There were no alternatives offered, we were advised that nothing else was available.

The rooms are very clean and tidy, the location is excellent, the third floor open-air deck has access to the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. There is a kitchen restaurant on the ground floor with free Wi-Fi. In short, this price and lot is very satisfied.

Very good location right in the Rocks. In general, the hostel is very noble. The structure is very similar to a hotel. Plus points are definitely for the terrace overlooking the Opera. Parking situation is Difficult. Anyone who wants a short stay is Sydney and Super Central and comfortable to stay is just right.

An amazing archaeological dig is incorporated into this place! Its got comfy rooms, an amazing roof terrace, harbor views, a games room, a good breakfast area and kitchen. They sell seconds hand clothing and games. Great value in the centre of Sydney.

Nice B&B, I think for the location this is a great option when you want to stay in Circular Quay on a budget. Room was clean and comfortable, quiet. I'd suggest going somewhere else local though for breakfast.

I highly recommend the Sydney Harbour YHA. Amazing value, high quality hostel — I would choose this other a hotel any day. Great rooftop view and awesome location — easy transit from the airport and walking distance to so many great attractions. Really liked that there was a wide range of age groups from post-grad, to young adults, to seniors staying at the hostel.

All of the staff members so far have been fantastic and welcoming and have been able to get me where I need to go. This hostel seems to cater to just about everybody and there are guests here of all ages and backgrounds. I would very highly recommend looking into the Sydney Harbour YHA The Rocks if you're new in town, or just looking for an impressive facility at an incredible value! 10/10

Amazing roof top with a 180° view on the Opera and Harbour bridge! Clean and modern place. People are really nice and friendly. Best rate for the location. Even with kids. There's about 350 beds so it's like being in a hive. But everything is doing well. Many places in and outside to rest and enjoy this awesome city.

Staff always willing to help, each room has its own bathroom including the shared ones, but you can count on common areas too, which is free to use. Private rooms are very standard and clean. Common kitchen is well equipped and plenty, but you have the option to buy their breakfast if you are on the run. I found that the price for special food events was a bit expensive (eg. Hot dog night). Due the proximity of the main tourist attractions and the fact the rooms are quiet (depending on your roommates) this place is a all-go for a budget accommodation at The Rocks.

Cool hostel! Here you can cook in the big kitchen and save some money. All ages are represented here. From Jung (18-70 years) we have everything here. Good atmosphere, rooftop terrace is closed at night from 10pm: (Which unfortunately bothered me the most was the music that ran throughout the hostel. The playlist was played from arrival to departure (4 days) and the songs were almost all German Raggi and hiphop… Horrible otherwise everything was good.

Very good location for tourists. Easy to get to most of the major tourist sites. Rooms are fairly bare but they are about what you would expect from a youth hostel. They have everything you'd need but not much in terms of frills. Staff seem a bit hit or miss. Some staff are very knowledgeable and helpful, but others seem to not really know what they're doing. Again fairly typical for a youth hostel. They have an amazing roof area with great views, and do staff run events each night, which seems the main draw of the place.

Really close to the harbour and situated in an old area of Sydney, it was a great location! The breakfast was delicious and staff were helpful and cheery.

The rooms were comfortable and clean. The B&B staff was friendly and helpful. It's located in a historic area, and retains that charm while being close to Circular Quay and the Opera house.

Hostel is fantastic, one of the best we stayed at. Lost of shared facilities, all of which are super clean. Staff are extra friendly and know more or less everything there is to do around the rocks. Extra shout-out to David and Tim on reception, excellent customer service and due a pay rise!

Great place to stay! I don't know where to start as there are so many gorgeous things to say about that hostel: First of all, you should go there because of the wonderful rooftop terrace — but you also have another terrace next to the kitchen where you can eat outside — the view at the skyline is great, especially at night. The hostel itself is modern and clean, the reception works efficiently and they even have a special deal for the Sydney Tower. The rooms contain an own shower room and a separated toilet; themself, they offer a lot of space and big lockers. I'd definitely come back! :)

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Also, in bed power and lights, plus in locker power too. We get to live on top of the Rocks, a very historic district where there once stood docks and working-class people homes. I love this hostel. It is one of the best budget accommodations in Sydney.

Nice hostel in the heart of Sydney, a 10-minute walk from the Opera. Family rooms simple but clean and large enough, with bathroom with shower. Large communal areas, well equipped with large kitchen. Superb terrace on the top floor with views of the bridge and the Opera House: magical! Quiet nights, no noise. Pity, no free Wi-Fi in the rooms (only in the common area).

The worst place we booked in Australia during our time there. We felt very disappointed to find a the kitchen with plastic cutlery, no glassware (except 3 wine glasses) no teas, just Nescafe instant coffee… dirt everywhere, cockroach and dirt in the bathroom — we exited the accommodation after 1 hour of arriving and were refunded our stay amount from the booking provider as they agreed the experience we had there was unsettling and not up to standard. The staff were rushed, uncaring and scruffy. Very misleading accommodation — with a room refresh; new management — this place is gem waiting to be seen, yet at it's current state — stale, dirty, misguided.

My Stau at the YHA was absolutely amazing. Everything there is great quality, very nice and clean, lots of opportunities to go see and do things through the YHA, the staff is amazing and will help you out with your every need. Lots of kitchen facilities, laundry-room, and the view from the rooftop is to die for. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to stay in Sydney. You get much more than you paid for.

Before I start I wanted to say my experience of this place is severely worsened than that of a average budget backpacker because a) I was on a school tour (which makes everything worse) b) I got sick and vomited all over the carpet ok the rooms were clean… ish the lockers were god apart than the fact that we could (and did) lock each other in them. the bacon and egg rolls that the served us for breakfast tasted of two main things fat and grease. The bathroom was small and cramped and cinda dirty apart from that. It was still an all round bad place to visit.

We usually stay at a hotel in Sydney, until we discovered this place. Conveniently close to all the tourist spots and restaurants, this old-world-done-up B&B is fantastic. We had the larger ground floor suite so no amazing views, but it had a bed for the little one, which was a huge plus. Included brekkie was delish. Really friendly personal owner. Thanks James, hope Mum & bubs are going well.

This is just what you'd expect of a reasonably new YHA, plus it's perched over an important archaeological site in the Rocks. Very handy to Circular Quay, the Harbour Bridge, and the Opera House, with fantastic views from the outdoor roof area.

We stayed in the Philip Room which had a stunning view of the Opera House etc. No lifts, so be prepared to carry your luggage up — which fits with the heritage charm of the building and area. Breakfast in the morning was nice and convenient.

It's a B&B so understand there are some limitations but this is a great place for few days. Location is perfect if you are keen on exploring harbour Sydney.

Only went for a few hours to meet up with a friend who was staying there a few nights. From the looks of what I saw it was already nicer then many I've seen globally. Plenty of fridges, ample lounge space and interesting architecture throughout!

The B&B is run by a very nice couple. Absolutely top level of services and make you fee like back home. The house is a bit aged but the room is clean and neat. Shared bathroom is also very clean. Breakfast is good. They run the place with their hearts not just a business. Highly recommended. The entry (Blue door) is upstairs of Long Lane from Cumberland St, which is easy to miss, just need to pay attention to the sign.

Its our first Youth Hostel abroad. My husband and I are 60. As part of our Holiday and visiting our son and Family we wanted to spend 2 nights in Sydney because we love Sydney and when we come to visit Family on the South Coast we still have to make time for Sydney so we used the Youth Hostel and Love everything about it. It's clean, friendly staff, good value breakfast, quiet at night we got good nights sleep, clean bedding, very good shower with plenty hot water. We really loved our stay and will highly recommend anyone all ages to stay.
We will return. Love the location. Love The Rocks area.

Excellent host who truly enjoy doing what they do. Great hot and fresh breakfasts and very clean. Lots of shopping and fantastic restaurants all within close easy walking distance.

While walking to the hostel I fell and broke my knee cap. The girl at the desk Jenni was so accommodating, she really looked after me, She patched me up with ice and a bandage and upgraded my room so I could get a good nights sleep and when I was moved to a dorm room they reserved a bottom bunk for me as I could not climb the steps. The staff helped me with my bags, arranged taxis for me and even helped with food delivery's because I could not walk. I would like to thank that Jenni and the members of staff that helped me in the time I stayed and all the staff at the YHA Harbor! They were incredible.

One of the best YHAs in Australian. We had a queen ensuite room overlooking the Opera House and Circular Quay. Lovely open bright kitchen and dining area. Reception sells basic foods, convenience store next door. Short walk to Quay. Staff welcoming and efficient.

Amazing rooftop views and well equipped facilities… about 10 minutes walk away from the train station. It is also very close to the harbour bridge is you want to walk the bridge.

Great (if challenging — uphill when hauling luggage) location with a small but neat room, clean bathrooms, and a view-if you stretch — of the Opera House. We arrived early and they were able to get our room ready and let us check in within 30 minutes so we could drop our luggage and stay active on our first day in Australia. Super pleased, I'll be recommending them to anyone I know who comes to Sydney.

Basic but cheap. Good as a base for exploring Sydney. Some family rooms. Irritating that you have to get reception to alter your a/c rather than have controls in the room.

The view is the major selling point for this place, as is the archaeological dig on which it sits. Great spot, cozy, quiet, friendly enough staff, but a major pain to get to, from anywhere with public transport, and not so fun when it rains… Rooms are small, and the air-con doesn't always work, so it gets damn hot in Summer…

Clean, well staffed great location Like all the yha hostels I've been too a little soulless. My one complaint is having to request air con from the front desk, which three of us independently did, and they decided not to bother. Very poor form on a 40+ degree day I've given it a harsh mark for that alone, you would be happy enough staying there.

YHA in historic part of town. The ground floor is over an excavated site where you can see the foundations of an old Sydney house. There is a great view over the harbour to the opera house from the roof. Rooms are standard as for YHA anywhere.

Great youth hostel. Had an amazing view of the opera house from the roof top terrace. My room was very clean, included lockers and ample power outlets. Also has great shared kitchen facilities.

A last minute decision to stay in Sydney over night and staying at the Syndey Harbour B-n-B was well worth my stay. The old house has had just enough modern improvements to make you feel like you are staying in an historical place in Sydney. I stayed in the Cook Room which has it's en suite bathroom, on the 3rd floor (stairs only which were fine for me) with a breathtaking view of the Opera House. Great view for the money and experience. Breakfast was a choice of bacon and eggs or Pancakes. Both delicious. Coffee, tea, juice toast and cereal self serve. Such a great experience if you want a local flavor. Loved my stay and would highly recommend it.

If you are able to buy the parking permit from the Owners ($45) this is the easiest by far. Call in advance and reserve the permit. They only have one. Once you are parked outside on the street, the City is yours to explore. 15 mins, leisurely walk to the quay. Taxis are easily found here. Host Linda is gracious, and nothing is too much trouble. Shared bathroom is OK, shower itself is good. Rooms comfy, but we could have done with a fan as well as the small air con. The air con was noisy. My only objection is the air flow… Would loved to be able to have the window open, but no fly screen. This made the room very stuffy and hot, so we had to use the little air con blower, it was too noisy, but necessary. Made sleep almost impossible. Breakfast included in the price, so it was a no brainer… Coffee, toast, eggs, bacon, tomato, as well as banana pancakes. Catered for gluten free in the bacon department so hubby could have bacon and eggs. Cheers. The location itself is very central, but if you have mobility issues, there are many steep streets, and loads of steps (Nurses walk) so unless you got a cab from the street, you would be faced with this problem. Definitely would stay here overnight again.

Recently stayed over the Australia Day long weekend and it was a good experience! A group of us were in a wheelchair accessible share-room as I am in a wheelchair and it's always a relief to find a place described as accessible, that actually is! Would definitely stay here again. Great location and great environment within the hostel itself.

Great place to stay! very strong shower at the bath! cool haha. And also Great rooftop view! u can see Opera house and Harbour Bridged in one sight.

The YHA is great for group bookings. I went on a school trip from Perth to Sydney and we stayed in the YHA for a couple nights. The breakfasts are served in amazing quality and the rooms are spacious. I would definatly stay here again.

Best Hostel ever! What an awesome location to choose for your visit when coming to Sydney. With excellent views of the Harbour Bridge and the Opera from the rooftop, it is certainly one of the best views at a good price. Also excellent quality and clean rooms. Walking distance from the train and bus stops — only 5 min. To walk to Circular Quay / 15min to the Opera, approx. 20-25min. To Royal Botanic Garden. 10min. To City Hall and QVB. Approx. 20min. To Darling Habour and the Golden Bucket — what else? The staff at the reception is outstanding friendly and helpful. Even the kitchen which is provided works great and offers you great possibility to get in touch with other travellers. I would always book Sydney Habour YHA again — when I will return to Sydney (most beautiful city I've seen so far! ) Cheers and enjoy Sydney.

Situated on top of an archaeological dig — complete with wire frame goats — this hostel has a somewhat surreal feel. There's a cafe up the stairs — and a friendly reception. The coffee is reasonable — and there's plenty of choice from the food in the vending machines. There's even a fully equipped kitchen waiting for you to weave your "Bridget Davis ~ The Internet Chef" magic on the fresh produce you get from the local grocer. Or you could just cook yourself a meal. An affordable alternative at the impossible to afford end of Sydney.

It's a nice hostel and in an amazing location; rooms are clean-ish. The bed I had (in a four female dorm) — the sheets had hair on them. My biggest qualm was reception — the girl who checked me in was so cold; asked if I had been there before and when I said no (expecting some kind of welcome and here are the basics) completely blanked me! And I'm from Melbourne; what if I was from overseas? Didn't mention that you had to buy locks for the lockers, nothing about the terrace or check-out and all I got was: here's you key and your room number is. Hmmm. Not cool.

Great central location in Rocks two steps from the Ferry Terminal.
Nice and friendly, with clean, spacious rooms very british style I recommend it to everyone.
