I have always loved visiting Glennferrie with my family and the staff are always so kind and helpful! Unfortunately on our last stay we were really disappointed with amount of dogs they now allow to stay there. The amount of dog poo laying around the yard was foul, even after two days of letting the staff know the same massive dog poops were still on the grass right next to the kids play area! I understand that there is staff shortage due to corona, but the overall place wasn’t near as clean is it has always been every other time in the past
There was at one stage a pit bull and another large dog that started fighting! Dogs were freely running around off leash as we ate out side and near our children playing on the kids play set! The place all over stunk of dirty dog. There is obviously no one to oversee that people do the right thing! I’m a dog person myself, but I don’t think this has made GlennFerrie any better but perhaps taken a star off itself sadly! Maybe a fenced off area away from the kids area would be a better idea for the safety of everyone! And not allowing dogs in the eating areas!

I booked my accommodation a week in advance. The day of arriving I called multiple times — no answer. I had to make last minute arrangements costing us hundreds more due to there incompetence. I then received a rude call at 9pm asking where I was, when I explained you did not answer and I had to resort to booking elsewhere they still continued to try and blame me somehow for there mistakes and charging me for the stay in which I was not even able to check into. This place is a scam. Don’t waste your time and money.

I loved the location, resturant, the room, it had everything we needed. Will stay again.

It's been a great stay! Sort of reminds me of staying in barracks when I was at Cadet Camp. Shared bathrooms and showers but it's all just part of the charm! The staff is amazing. Very helpful and knowledgeable! They even gave the hotel guests a bottle of wine for New Years Eve tonight! plus it's located in a great part of the Sydney. Ferry rides are a 5 minute walk away. Train station is about a 15 minute walk along with restaurants and shopping. Luna Park is also within walking distance.

Great location, polite staff, clean and tidy.

This is our first stay at Glenferrie and we're impressed. We traveled from the country to have a quick break from things and we were welcomed with a lovely bottle of wine and card. We enjoyed discovering the beauty of the Killibilli area and Glenferrie is within walking distance to everything, but the best thing was it didn't cost us an arm and leg to stay here. Shall be hoping to stay here again.

Very reasonably priced accommodation at the foot of the harbour bridge. Walking distance to the railway station too. Rooms are nice, share bathrooms renovated too.

Situated at Kirribilli, which is a beautiful and quite neighbourhood. Bit away from the hassle of city although well connected to circular quay (the hub for all public transport within Sydney) by ferry (2 mins from lodge). The lodge offers two types of room and we stayed in both. The regular rooms are clean, small, less view from window and no private toilet and bathroom. The queen suites are clean, big (with additional child bed) offers beautiful view of harbour with private toilet and bathroom. They also offer very good english breakfast.

Such a cute place to stay in Sydney. There is so much to do and see nearby. Walking distance to Lunar Park. 10 minute drive to the zoo. A short ferry trip to the city. And there are dozens of restaurants and cafes just a few blocks away. Our bedroom was perfect for one or two nights stay and the shared bathrooms were clean and felt secure. We did bring our own pillows which was a good decision because the ones in the rooms were a little flat for my taste.

Nice place, rather clean and has many amenities that make the stay enjoyable. Only issue was that it was a bit loud at night. Other than that a nice stay in a rather pretty area. Great view of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge with juat a short walk.

We spent 2 nights there. They were extremely accommodating allowing both our cat & dog to stay in the room. The room was a little small but neat and clean, as was the ensuite. The breakfast was a nice treat. The garden was lovely to sit in and our kids enjoyed the play area. It's in close walking distance to so much with a beautiful view of the Sydney Opera House just around the corner. Great for short stays. The only negative was we had to park our car & trailor quite a few streets away.

Because they give you a free Breakfast Buffet when you book directly with them and the rooms are extremely comfortable and the Receptionist is Amaazing…!

It is a nice place to stay, breakfast is good, nice friendly staff. It is worth what you spend for your stay. Location is ok, not too many eating joints nearby. But overall, I have enjoyed my stay.

Level value for money is top: 42 euros for a double room with fridge! It is very well placed, the parking is paying and limited but it allows to leave the car to visit Sydney for 20 dollars for 24 hours if we negotiate a little bit.
But there are the least: dust in the room and there is no kitchen (normal for a hotel) and Wi-Fi is not the most efficient in the world.

Went to see avengers. There was a lot of viewing so could come at anytime and there would be a session about to start. Even though we were in an older theatre the seats looked old, torned and stained which is a disappointment when paying 22$ a ticket. Otherwise an enjoyable experience.

Location was good. Recommend for young travelers: 4 flights of stairs (no lift), shared bathrooms, small rooms (but very clean), check-in staff were invisible, building was not secure (no locked doors 24/7 except your room). Vibrant birds greet you when around the courtyard exterior and common areas are well maintained.

We travel from Canberra to Port Macquarie with little ones every holiday. Glenferrie is our Sydney Pitstop and I just love it!
The manager is wonderful and extremely helpful and accommodating and the rest of the reception staff are lovely too!
The rooms are clean but sometimes small. The breakfast is amazing!
There is a great outdoor lawn area with wild birds and a park for the kids.
The only downside is majority of the rooms don’t have a bathroom so you have to use a communal bathroom which is generally pretty clean, but is hard when I have the little ones and am alone.
But to end on a positive note, it’s super close to the bridge and local retro pool, cafes and good eating places are only a walk away too!

Great location and comfy bed. Considering there wasn't a view it was over priced. But it fit its purpose.

Very nice location in Kirribilli, near the harbour. Easy 15 minutes or so into the city. Room was quiet, amenities were clean and staff were easy to deal with. Better than I expected for the price.

Budget hotel which gives exactly what it promises. Book direct for included breakfast. Very clean rooms. Check on web for best value deals.

I don’t understand the sign out the front of Glenferrie Lodge with 4-stars. I’m sorry but there is nowhere in the world where this would accommodation would be considered to be 4-stars! There is no lift, there are shared bathrooms, and I understand this is a pet friendly property which accounts for the smell of dog in our bedroom. The bathrooms needs cleaning more regularly. I have definitely stayed in nicer 2-star properties. This is a 2-star property and any other grade is simply misleading. In the interests of the travelling public please reconsider how you grade the property — I have been misled, many others will be too.

The first floor of the room Wi-Fi signal is very poor, almost unusable. Shared bathroom space is very small, wash the table a boiling water on the indiscriminate spray, wet and dry separation is meaningless.

5 stars because of the value, historic building, modern fittings, location and lovely garden. $10 breakfast is recommended too. The rooms are very small but wells equipped with ac, usb points, fridge even a safe. The bathrooms are shared.

The location is great. Very close to the harbour bridge and the Opera House, with a train station just 10 minutes walk away. There's also a fantastic burger joint called Batch close by. The accommodation itself is functional, with shared bathroom facilities for most rooms. The breakfast is fantastic — a wide range of hot foods, cereals, breads etc. And great value. Being able to eat outside is great — breakfast on the sun is always good!

Okay, when I opened my suitcase, I couldn't open the door:) — but the cramped room conditions were loosely compensated for by the rest. The bed was very comfortable, the communal showers very (! ) clean. The breakfast was quite plentiful. The location is great as you are off the tourist mile and still take the ferry to Circular Quay in a few minutes — great views of Sydney included. Running from the hotel towards Harbour Bridge, there are a number of good restaurants. I can definitely recommend it to anyone.

Went here with my dog a few years back. Very chilled out experince. Buffet breakfast was pretty good also. Gonna try to go again in the future.

No problem great buffet breakfast. Only one paid parking spot otherwise only street parking free on weekends.

Easily one of the most comfortable stays I've had anywhere. It's all well cleaned and maintained, the staff are friendly and courteous, it was quiet except for late night fireworks at the harbour, not the hotels fault. I have no problems recommending this place, I was quite satisfied. I had a single room, air con, ceiling fan, all the things you could want. Breakfast was very nice with a decent view of the harbour Bridge from the backyard.

Had a really good stay here with the family. Staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Only thing was the communal bathroom. Rooms were a little on the small side but felt cosy. Short walk to the ferry, amazing cruise around the harbor at night. Short walk to restaurants and pubs. Will definitely go again.

No sleep because of other guests Staff took photos of my belongings and moved my belongings. Was called a liar by staff will never never recommend or stay here again.

Fantastic location, 5 minute walk from ferry. Lots to see in and around Kirribilli. We stayed in a room with private bathroom and it was clean and comfortable. Great to see an older building being repurposed too. Yes there are stairs and no there is no elevator, but this used to be a family home. We believe it is excellent value for the money, so close to the Sydney CBD and harbour.

We loved our first stay at Glenferrie Lodge for Vivid weekend. The lodge was clean and very accommodating and best of all it was pet friendly and situated in such a lovely spot. Rate was good and it included breakfast. Yeah the rooms are a little small but it had all we needed! We look forward to our next visit. Thanks for a lovely stay! Karlie and Chris :)

Good value basic accommodation, quick access to the city via ferry.

This was my first stay at the Lodge and it was really nice. I was here in Sydney for a concert happening in Luna Park (BAP woot woot! ) and it was around a 10-15 minute walk to get there from the hotel. Very convenient as it meant we didn't spend all day waiting outside in the lineup. The rooms have heating air conditioners inside which was a godsend because it is quite cold this time of year (but the cold setting works really well too — we figured this out the hard way) ). Of a morning there's a buffet breakfast for $10 per person which is great! So much tasty food. Its close to Circular Quay, just a 10 minute walk gets you to the Harbour bridge. The staff are very friendly too. And for the location, I thought it was pretty well priced, I paid about 400 for three nights. The bathrooms are communal, but you can still get plenty of privacy in the showers and toilets so its fine. There's also a cute cat that lives in the area who wanders around outside at night, really friendly so you can give it a cuddle. Great if you miss your pets at home haha I have just ONE fault — the doorstop in the room! It was on the floor near the mirror and I tripped over it about four times. Watch out for those little guys. This was a good stay, I think I'll definitely be coming back when the next concert season rolls around.

Popular and sometimes booked out on weekends, but very comfortable and modern home away from home. Great Wi-Fi, breakfast and very accommodating staff.

Nearly one year ago my sister and I stayed at this very beautiful and cosy lodge.
My sister reckoned it looked haunted but as soon as her head hit the pillow she slept until the morning.
Our brother had passed away in NZ and we were in Sydney to re new my passport.
Went for an early morning walk and lo and behold took great pictures of Sydney Opera house… came across what looked like an old church and on one of the gates it had
Saint Julian… it was then that my sister and I knew our brother was waiting for us and we were meant to be there.
Our brothers name was Julian…
Glenferrie Lodge will always hold a special place in mine and my sisters hearts.

Amazing place, gorgeous room, incredible breakfast and the customer service couldn't have been better. We took our dogs with us, one of whom is a german shepherd x husky and they treated them as well as they treated us. Definitely recommend this place.

Affordable, clean and in a great location. Parking is on street in residential zone and can be very difficult. Staff friendly and helpful. Good breakfast, free Wi-Fi with ok speeds. Will stay again but might leave car behind next time.

$60/night. I have stayed in Sydney at that price before (in "City Resort Hostel" — "resort" probably as in "last resort" **), so I was very pleasantly surprised by Glenferrie Lodge. Glenferrie is neat, clean, comfortable, professional, practical. With hotels, both shabbiness and luxury annoy me (luxury comes at a cost, no? ), and Glenferrie suffers from neither. Clearly a lot of thought went into the design, to maximise the usefulness and practicality without going to excessive costs. I stayed in a similar-spirited place in LA recently, called The Shelter, also a budget place, but also one which respects its customers. But Glenferrie offers breakfast as well, and it's a good one. One minus: poor noise insulation. But you don't travel without earplugs, do you? This isn't something that could be fixed anytime soon, I believe, as you'd have to rebuild the place or buy some expensive materials to hang inside the walls. On the map it looks a bit out of the way, being on the other side of the river. But it's only a short walk from Milson's Point train station, then one stop across the bridge. Also, the location is lovely, a nice leafy street — and the Prime Minister's residence is a few metres down the road, so you can bet it's considered a nice place to live. Overall, entirely positive experience staying there. I think the reason it's not more expensive at this time is that it's in the process of being improved, and the market hasn't caught up with that yet.

I will be staying again for the third time in May 2012. All I need is somewhere to sleep. The breakfasts are nice and its a great way to start the day sitting in the garden. On my second trip I found the receptionist a rude person but the manager was polite and helpful. Just a couple of minutes walk and you are on the ferry to Circular Quay. Bathrooms were small and clean and I have never had to wait to get into one. Have now stayed 4 times and new staff are very friendly and welcoming Will be back later in 2014.

Very disappointed, Room is small dark and has an overwhelming odour of mold, bathroom is small dirty and I wouldn't use it if you've not had a tetanus shot recently, there's not even a lid on the toilet. The service man on the front desk is rude not honest and incredibly pushy. One last thing. The room photos depicted on their website are far from what we got given, even though they are exactly what we were promised.

We are regulars here, and have been coming for years. The staff is always lovely and we drive from Mudgee to stay there when we need to come to Sydney. They allow you to park (for $20), which is brilliant as the street parking is only for 2 hours during the day. We leave our car there and then catch the ferry into town. The rooms are basic but very clean. And the prices are always excellent.

The key point for this accommodation is that it is pet friendly. They have one room that leads directly into the garden at the back which is nice for the dog. The room was small and it has shared bathrooms, however, it was clean. There was a free hot breakfast and free Wi-Fi that we didn't take advantage of. If all you are after is a place to sleep near the city/airport, whilst taking your dog, it's great.

Don't expect A find a classic hotel and yet the hotel has plenty of charm. The neighborhood is very nice and it and a plqisir d vrqi take the ferry all the morning. I highly recommend it. And it's super clean and breakfast is included.
