I've just spent the past two days staying at the hornsby inn I was absolutely disgusted with the bathroom tiles full of mould dirt everywhere bottom of the shower was disgusting with mould the freezer part of the fridge was all iced up so I will be looking for alternate accomadation next time in hornsby.

The decor is a bit grim but made up for excellent, friendly staff and decent smoking areas. Well suited for after work drinks or a couple of quick pints on the way home.

Inside it includes a Thai food restaurant that gives the Inn a new way of serving food. On top of this a new modern bar is now finished at the very back. It still has a seedy type of sports bar where locals meet that makes it a favourite spot for locals to drink.

A classic dive style bar for rock music fans that has been done up a bit to cater for the smashed avo / EDM crowd. They got rid of the pub kitchen and now have an Absolute Thai restaurant inside, which was actually a stroke of genius. The Thai menu also contains one page dedicated to pub dishes — which should appease the old white men from the rifle range up the road. Bands play on Saturday nights and karaoke runs on Wednesday nights. People in Hornsby can't sing well though.

Basic accommodation but great value for the cost. Great location, close to everything.

Stayed in one of the rooms here. Very clean but very dated bedroom & bathroom attire. Bed was very comfortable, though. Shower has excellent pressure but there are 10 different colour tiles to amuse you while you're in there. Quite a bit maintenance on them over the years, I suspect, but at least its being done. Can open windows for fresh air. There are quite a few stairs to climb. 22 I think & all rooms are up those stairs. The Hornsby Inn is adjoining the Hornsby Shopping Centre & across the road from the Hornsby train station. I believe there is a enclosed walkway bridge connecting the station to the shopping precinct. There are plenty of bars, various activities & a good Thai restaurant for food. Several regular Aussie selections on the menu though. Pricing for the rooms are about as cheap as you'll ever get in Sydney. Location is spot on. Parking is a bit limited on site so arrive early afternoon if you are driving. HELPFUL TIP — Turn into the "No through road" along side of the hotel as there is a entrance lane at the rear. Follow that around the perimeter & through the "Drive through" alcohol pick up area & turn into the front car park.

Best location in Hornsby. Literally next to the mall (Westfield) & the train station. Clean & spacious rooms. Friendly staff.

Good -Just next to Hornsby shopping centre. -There are Pub and casino in same bulding. -Very quiet in room because old building. Bad -Very noise at weekend. -Old building. -Not clean that much…

Ok but good staff apart from the bouncer he was giving me bad luck on the pokies and car park is useless had stupid oringe things U had to get out and move then one I got in one sip of my beer a had to go back outside and move my car as I had bloked some one in then I got bloked in when I went to leave silly setup.

Friendly staff and patrons, great atmosphere. Will have to try a meal next time.

It's an "inn" above 3 pubs. Do the maths. But gritty old rooms. Showers you feel you really need to wear thongs in. Very old an noisy air con. You pay for the local I guess, which with hornsby mtb park rite across the tracks is great.

Slow service sometimes but the $10 cocktails (now $12) are nice.

Good place for a drink and the food is good. Close to the train so its easy to get to.

Not really all that thrilled with this pub. The service was good, but not a huge range of beers. Conveniently located though.

Location excellent for medical/dental appointments. Bathrooms could be a bit cleaner. Great shopping on your doorstep. Room comfortable.

Just for the price, you won't expect same quality as meriton servoced apartment.

I stayed there 4 nights I'm rating it a warm and friendly 3 stars. Not because Hornsby Inn failed, but rather because it succeeded despite itself. The bed was very comfortable. The room was small, but tidy. The toilet smelled of urine, but I went to the Coles at the Westfield Mall across the road and got some bleach-based bathroom cleaner and sorted that out in minutes. The bathroom was spotless otherwise. The street is noisy and people partying in the area could be loud at times. Occasionally cigarette smoke from the street below would waft in the window. I'm a non-smoker. There are two pokie parlours one floor below and a bevy of bars I never did make any sense of. The "Absolute Thai" restaurant on the same level was obviously popular. I had dinner there one evening. Thai cuisine isn't really my thing, but I ate it all and wasnt hungry after. There is also a TAB *and* a drive-through bottle store. Before you gamble (if you do) there are numerous signs warning about gambling responsibly. They are a bit faded, like the Inn itself. But think well worn old slippers, rather than decrepit. It will help. It's close to Hornsby train station. Probably the closest hotel. You can't really cook in the room, but it had a fridge and was good for storing the elements of cold dishes like wraps and fruit with meusli, nuts, and yogurt. Checking in required chasing a bartender to then chase whoever it is who checks you in. Allow 15-20 minutes. But once done, it's done.

Great pub and accomodation. Get what you pay for, very accommodating hosts. Also give you a discount for the restaurant downstairs.

Hornsby inn good location close to Westfield and train station. Good atmosphere service very good.

Great local. Good thai restaurant inside, though I do question the chicken parma as to its thai authenticity.

I had a meal at absolute Thai and the pork belly was amazing!

Went to their bar to catch up with a mate on Wednesday Night. It's decent place with a reasonably priced bar. If don't like crowded places where you have to speak on top of your voice to have a conversation with your fellas; then this is a good place! specially the bar at the back. Not sure why they couldn't run a tab (seemed like short staffed that night) so had walk over to the counter to pay for each round. But that was okay! Didn't eat so can't say about food! Will check it out again.

The room very clean great price. The bar staff absolute bunch of lazy no good young bums stood at the bar for 10 min to get served. Mate if you are the manager and read this sack the two blokes on Monday night 12/2/17 6 am in the front bar. Lazy. Per of Dope's These kind of people stuff up ya biasness.

Very basic here. Room was sort of ok. They were going through renovations in the bar area. Staff were helpful and the restaurant attached to it was nice good was really good.

Good Thai restaurant. Great beer prices and helpful staff.

Decor is 70s. Didn't eat here. Eclectic locals in the bar provided great entertainment from the red velvet lined nooks.

Dirty filthy place, I would rather stay at the public toilets in Mount Druitt, the staff are arrogant and unfreindly, the rooms are filthy and noisy from trucks and dickheads partying down stairs in the pub. I would'ent let my dog stay here.

What a breath of fresh air it was when I had the extreme pleasure of being the recipient of some good old fashioned customer service… Thanks goes to Mercia Bradshaw, who went beyond the call of duty when dealing with what seemed to be a hundred thinks at once… Whilst the accommodation was 'nothing special', the service we recieved was outstanding, along with the wonderful Thai restaurant which is within the hotel itself.

Great to have a venue playing live original music.

Edit — upgraded from 2 stars to 3 because I found a great little section if the bar around the back. The Whistle Stop Bar is cozy, with decor reminiscent of an old railway carriage. Love it! Generally this place is great for a quick (cheap) drink but don't expect anything fancy. Very little attention has been put into the atmosphere (in the main bar) or decor and there's a depressing feel to the place (again, in the main bar). On the positive side, drinks are cheap and the staff are friendly. But it could be so much better if they put a little TLC into the interior. The location is great — it's the nearest place to the Westfield to get a drink. Haven't tried food here, but I believe there's a Thai restaurant attached to the other side of the building.
