Review of Costa Rica Motel 3*

Well, where to start — DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY is all we can say! This place leaves a lot to desire. There is a reason when you book that they recommend you upgrade your room. They are very basic. We purchased the 3 night mid week "special package" then upgraded which equaled $79/night. Not that cheep for the middle of winter mid week. Although we had extreme weather the room leaked, the bathroom shower leaked and actually flooded the bathroom. Surely they knew this and didn't fix it. There was no internet which we had pre-arranged as I had work to do and even though we upgraded to get some kitchen facilities there was no utensils or plates etc. Only 2 glasses and two cups, a microwave and a kettle. There was tea coffee etc and a small milk. But once used your had to buy your own replacements. No clean towels at all only 2 small bath, 1 matt and 1 hand towel, and don't think there is any room service. We got told on arrival that none was available. This was not such an issue but clean towels would have been expected each day only because there were so old and worn that they didn't cope. The room was clean and tidy if anything but musty. The old style blue pattern sheets were disgusting. They should have been binned about 20 years ago. We did wonder how they would comply with current cleaning standards. My husband wanted to leave the first morning but not wanting to make a fuss I talked him into staying and we had already paid in full. He fixed the shower some what so it only flooded back into the recess and intended to have his say upon departure but the office was unattended so he didn't get his chance. We think they knew! Upon our return home I did write to them to voice our disappointment but no reply has been received to date and that was in July. It is obvious to us that this place is very old very run down and is up sold for these packages. There is lots of options in and around South West Rocks so don't get stuck in this dump as you won't get your money back either, they take the payment on booking in full and there is no option for refunds. We will never ever recommend this package company "Sunseeker" or this Motel.
