Everyone at the Black Bear Inn are amazing. They are the friendliest people in all of Thredbo. The chili king prawns, twice cooked pork belly, fillet steak and ribs were the best we have ever had. Make sure you book ahead to reserve a table so you don’t miss out. We dined there two nights running and will return every time we come back to Thredbo.

I’ve been coming here since the 80’s. Still one of my fave bars/restr in Thredbo. I miss the Austrian nights they use to do every Weds.

Just do yourself a favor and have a great meal there. They know how to look after you.

We just went to the restaurant so didn’t stay overnight. The service was excellent, the list very good and the eye fillet was divine. The kids meals were really good too.

The place was poorly maintained. Our room didn't have hot shower for the most of the time we stayed. The fan in the shower was super loud. Felt like it was going to fall apart any time. Could hear people walking in the next room just like they are IN you room thanks to the squeaking wooden floor. Could also hear their TV and conversation and to be fair they were not loud at all. I would never be at this place again. If you plan to stay here and need good rest, bring good noise cancelling ear plug.

Nice little pub with a decent selection of beer.

The virtual lack of Wi-Fi in a hotel these days is unforgivable. Fix this and put in some decent bike storage and it would be great. In saying that, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Undercooked Food, and a Chef that lies. I ordered the Trio of Schnitzels that the Black Bear Inn is quiet proud of. The pork and veal were great, however the Chicken was undercooked and raw. It was pink throughout. It was taken back to the Chef, who stated that the pink in the chicken was part of how it was cooked — which is a complete lie. The low rating is due to the Chef providing a poor excuse for the lack of QA within the Kitchen. The ambience and vibe of the restaurant is great.

Loving it. Like a family lodge with the beest bar great food and great staff. Not to mention ginger beer on tap and baked apple schnapps yummo.

A great place for one off the wood with Mick after a hard day on the slopes. If you are feeling a little peckish then there is some good tucker on offer from the kitchen.

Food was awesome, service was great. Kids loved the deconstructed smores for dessert. Highly recommend.

We came here for dinner outside of the main ski season. The menu was fairly limited, though they seem to really focus of quality over quantity. I ordered the soup and the prawns. My partner has the trio of schnitzel. The meals were a decent size. Even though we were there outside of the busy period, they didn't seem to have any trouble filling the place with people. Lovely ambiance and excellent service. The waiter was very accommodating with requests and offered great suggestions and commentary on the meals. They have a bar section near the restaurant area that also draws a crowd. Wide range of wines and a few good beers, local and imported. It was a little expensive, but that is to be expected in the Thredbo village.

Fantastic food although there are not many options. They messed up with my booking a bit but it was fixed quickly. I am a Millennial so I prefer more modern design hotel.

Excellent food and atmosphere. Would ha e given a 4 except I found the seats and tables very uncomfotable to sit at.

Haven't stayed here but it is one of the best restaurants in Thredbo. The menu is not huge but quality more than compensates for quantity.

We had a room one floor down from the restaurant and could hear the music (especially the bass thumping) as well as people walking above us and talking next door to us for hours. A change in room did not help. The rooms are very basic (incl. The bathroom). In fairness to the hotel, it was one of the cheapest in Thredbo, the staff was friendly and the food at the restaurant was very good — that excludes the breakfast: unhealthy cereal, dry bread, no jam and a few slices of water melon.

We hadn't booked, it was a Saturday night and I think very busy due to the events of the day (top2bottom, dome party, etc). We arrived at Black bear Inn around 6:10pm and asked if they had room for us (after being denied a table at another restaurant). They advised us we could dine there as long as we departed by 8:00pm, which was fine with us — we had a four year old with us, and they don't dine well for more than two hours without drama anyway! Our waitress came to us quickly and asked if we wanted water — we said yes, and she walked away before asking for any other drink orders. She returned about 15 minutes later, with no water. She asked us to order — I asked if she wanted us to order drinks or food, she replied "all of the above". I still hadn't decided on what wine I wanted (I was hoping to ask for her suggestion but her manner scared me). We ordered our food and wine, one of the guests in our party asked to exchange the 'warm potato salad' for mash potato to which our waitress replied "no, we are too busy — there are no changes to the menu, you can add an additional side of mashed potato but you cannot change the menu" (additional mash was $8). We decided to add an additional mash and mushroom sauce to our menu items. The food came out about half an hour later, all of our dishes at the same time (which was great).

Love this place, great food and service… would be the best food in Thredbo… great place to relax with a drink before having dinner… would recommend.

We went here with 2 young kids on advice from the local bus driver. The trio of schnitzels was great. Great atmosphere, excellent service and even the resident possum made an appearance which the kids loved. It was a little expensive, but well worth it.

A little expensive but everything is on the mountain. Great food, I recommend the Trio Schnitzel with 3 kinds of meat. Chicken, veal and pork topped with mash potatoes. Desert looked very good too but I couldn't afford the expense.
