Thank you, we had a wonderful stay a few kms from town. Such beautiful surroundings so well kept. So clean we could not fault this retreat and the little touch’s so lovely. We had a lovely walk through the Forrest directly across the road. This was our second time staying here and we would definatly stay again. Rainwater throughout was a lovely surprise.
We stayed in unit 3 for 3 nights. Beautiful location, well designed accommodation with some thoughtful additions — a decent bath mat, body soap, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap and hand cream in the bathroom, salt and pepper grinders, olive oil for cooking, selection of teas and coffees in the kitchen.
There’s a Bluetooth speaker and board games in the lounge.
The water is filtered and UV treated and pleasant to drink without town water chemical aftertaste.
Minor cons were a little difficulty setting the shower temperature (a common problem with pressure pumps) and we couldn’t find matches to light the fire with (figured out a work around and there’s a reverse cycle aircon which does the job ok if you don’t want to light the fire).
Would happily stay here again. We enjoyed the peaceful location and access to walking and biking tracks.

We thought we'd found the pick of our travel stays in Albany but Big Brook Retreat beat it narrowly for best place we stayed while in WA for a couple of weeks. At this price point they are leading the class based on our stays from Albany to Perth over several weeks.
New owners Michele & Jason have only been in a few weeks but they are off on a great start. The cottage we stayed in was delightful. The attention to detail here is exceptional. From UE Wonderboom speaker to Samsung TV (not that we watched) for the entertainment to new & very comfortable couches to lounge and observe blue wrens &. Western rosellas, to the well appointed & spotless kitchen, choice of wood fire (with great quality wood) & very effective reverse cycle for heating comfort and a ceiling fan on winter mode the cottage was very comfortable. We brought our own coffee machine but the pod machine (De Longhi I think) provided offered an assortment of pods & a milk frother.
The bathroom & spa were well stocked with quality "stuff" (my wife would have word for it) including bubble bath for the spa.
The bed was extremely comfortable with a choice of pillows that suited us.
The rammed earth construction is excellent for keeping heat in and I suspect out giving the heating/cooling a hand.
The property is conveniently quiet distance out of town. Easy to get back into town for a night out or to pick up supplies, and equally easy to access the Big Brook Dam and environs for a walk amongst the Karri trees.
