Basen hotel is the best one I’ve stayed in Syuniq region. It’s literally a 2 minute walk to the city square, has the cleanest rooms I’ve ever seen in a hotel (Just for an example to compare my experience to Best Western Congress Lux king size room in Yvn. And Basen score is 10 vs Congress’s 6). They have the most kind, honest and friendly staff on all levels, be it the cleaning and cooking ladies who take care of you like you’re their grandchild or the founder of Basen Hasmik, who’s there in the trenches every God’s day from 6:30 am personally doing any task no matter how small or big to make the guest’s stay the best and most memorable. I could also go on about the amazing and riveting tours they organize for pages, but suffice to say that riding in a new, but Soviet model UAZ to Ukhtasar, a non-functioning volcano that has magma traces from three thousand years ago, a lake and 7000 year old inscriptions on rocks from the Bronze Age people was not only a mind blowing experience but helped me see the beauty of Armenia under a new light and realize how things of the past pass down to us and resonate with our soul till this day. Overall Basen Hotel & Tours gets not a 5 out of 5 but a 10 out of 10 rating from me and I’m already planning to come back and stay there not just on my own but have a professional multi-day conference on the premises, moreover telling all my friends coming to Syuniq to stay at Basen.
Basen Hotel is a lovely place to stay. Hasmik and her family are charming and welcoming. They took us for a hike into and out of Ughtasar and arranged a camping trip that was like a dream come true. I would do this trip again and again. We stayed in the hotel the nights before and after the trip. I highly recommend a stay at Basen Hotel and an excursion with Basen Tours. In fact, I wouldn't visit Sisian without a stop at Basen!
