Protea Hotel by Marriott Luanda

The hotel is not situated in the best area but the rooms are very modern and comfortable, the service excellent and the food is amazing. Thanks to Edson, Evandro, and Dinonisia for going the extra mile to make us comfortable. Please make sure that the property is maintained to so we can keep enjoying the great hospitality! 🙏🏾

Protea Luanda was a fantastic place to stay for our business trip. The food in the restaurant was delicious. Priscilla and the other waiters and waitresses were extremely kind and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed each days breakfast lunch and dinner for the whole trip.

An excellent hotel and brilliant staff who are all very attentive, genuine and professional.
My first stay was on the 3rd floor and then my subsequent stay later in the week was on the 2nd. Rooms in both instances were clean and comfortable.
Choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner were plentiful and tasty. The guys who cook the steaks should be commended. The quality of the meat was fantastic, being tender and flavorsome.
The guys behind the bar and bringing drinks are a great bunch of folks.
I asked for a late checkout on the day that I was traveling home “where else can you go? There is no where so there is no problem having a late check out”. Fantastic service.

A beautiful gem in the chaos of the streets. Our own little oasis of safety and relaxation. The staff is extremely friendly and always helpful with a big smile. The hotel has all the accommodation that you need gym, pool and above all an amazing rooftop terrace. The place before bed to have a drink an enjoy the slightest breeze of fresh air.
The rooms are spacious, only the bathroom could have been more practical and was not perfectly finished in all details. All in all a great hotel we will be back later on our trip in Angola.

We shall certainly return as everything was worth every penny paid. The food and the sunset drinks at the rooftop were perfect as well.

The hotel was nice and clean. Room and beds were comfortable. All the staff were very polite and accommodating. I would definitely stay here again. Not far from the airport and no need to leave property with restaurant on site. A+ service at this place.

I enjoyed my stay, breakfast was fresh. The room was clean at all times. The F&B Manager Edson and the lady Priscilla were excellent made feel like home. To Priscilla keep up the good work I wish next time I visit you will be promoted. The bar attendants Tomas and JJ were also excellent. The hotel is clean and smell fresh.
The location is a bit doggy for someone from outside and few signage. If you can work on that.

I am not sure if there is a better hotel.
Or service in this area, but it still deserves the Marriot flag. I don't use to book at high life hotel brands, now I made an exception. Their booking com price was reasonable if we compare with EU and other similar star hotels of Angola.
The Staff is amazing there, you feel yourself in the US. They really take care of guests and you get individual help.
And attention. Their English is excellent and they are up to friendly chat. Their drivers, Fernando and Alberto also, who did also a good job to-from the airport.
The restaurant was OK also, including their price tags.
One of the best hotel transport still, in Africa.
I definitely recommend this place.
I just regret that the rooftop terrace was missed and I needed to leave earlier.

If someone is not from the US and does not have Visa card, there may be a problem with the devices. In my case Wise did not like the location and blocked me after I logged in from there… So, cash (US) and/or even more change to Kwanza can work just then. Not only for me, but for others. Besides the hotel could help me out by a USD cash only payment. Maybe it was an exception, not sure.
My overall 10/8 is just because of this payment related confusion, which is time consuming and a riddle for a tired traveler.
The other (maybe) downside of the hotel can be the location. It is still not on the beach and can be far from the airport in rush hours.

Everything was great. Fantastic service. Great man Esmeraldo, Osmar, Gaspar, Costa and Gabriela made the stay more than enjoyable! Great place with the great staff! Hotel is clean, I got a big room. The food in the restaurant was very tasty. I wish all hotels in Luanda present that standard of service!

Esmeraldo was the manager onsite. The hotel staff is so professional, so helpful and so kind. Our rooms were really nice. We will be back. The restaurant was great and I am a very picky eater. The rooftop bar was amazing at night and the view was spectacular. We felt extremely safe and well cared for.

Great hotel. Everyone in the hotel was very friendly and kind to me. I greatly enjoyed my stay. The rooms are very clean with very comfortable bedding and excellent bathrooms. And the facilities are gorgeous with a wonderful pool, beautiful rooftop bar, and excellent restaurant.

Where a significant amount of overseas visitors are either linked to the oil sector (center of Luanda) or the UN, this presents a good option close to the UN campus at a more reasonable prices than in the center, while also being close to the airport. The hotel itself is great, brand new and modern, with the essentials you may need, and small extras on top (free ice cream every evening! free airport transfers! ). They recognize Mariott status (got a two-level upgrade) although the size of the building limits the size of the rooms (a larger lot or more floors, as a structural choice, could have easily made for much larger rooms). In and of itself, the location, while quiet, is not great, it is a worthwhile option, and will be a recommended option for UN missions in the future.

Excellent service all round! It's affordable, free and reliable airport transfers. Hotel is suoer clean, stylish and well kept. Staff is friendly and helpful and the food was great! Definitely will be back. Special thanks to Priscilla for great service!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Protea Hotel Luanda and will definitely stay there again on future visits to Luanda. The hotel’s location was very convenient, being just a few minutes from my place of business. The hotel was newly opened, nicely decorated using high quality material. The staff were attentive and extremely helpful throughout my stay. I felt welcomed. My room was spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. The delicious breakfast served in the rooftop restaurant was a perfect start to the day. I also appreciated the opportunity to relax by the pool and work out in the gym, which had the latest equipment.

A delegation from Belarus lived in the hotel in July 2024. Cool hotel, food and service. Thank you very much.

We ha e literally just left this hotel after 12 days of business. I can not praise this hotel enough. Staff were wonderful, happy, helpful, efficient and could not do enough for us. The reception staff sorted and helped with everything possible. The restaurant staff were brilliant and even cooked specially for us by request. The rooms were very spacious and well equipped. There is a nice small swimming pool to relax in. The rooftop bar and rest area give a good view of the surroundings. Beds were really comfortable. Can not say enough.
