Hotel Trópico

I had a fantastic experience at Hotel Trópico in Luanda. The hotel offers a perfect combination of comfort, quality, and convenience. The rooms are spacious, modern, and well-maintained, making it a great place to relax after a busy day.
The restaurants are excellent, with a variety of delicious dishes to choose from – a true highlight of my stay. Whether for business or leisure, the hotel has everything you need, including well-equipped business facilities that make working on the go effortless.
The staff are professional, welcoming, and always ready to help, which makes the overall atmosphere warm and inviting. I highly recommend Hotel Trópico to anyone visiting Luanda.

Clean rooms, good service, regular breakfast — nothing special — lunch and dinner as well — nothing extraordinary. Good swimming pool and great service at the bars.

Regarding the room, it was fine.
The breakfasts were good with plenty of options.
However, I felt the buffet evening meal was overpriced for what you got compared to say the President Hotel. It was a lot more money for less choice and quality (sorry, but it's true. )
I was happily surprised on my last evening when I got back to my room to find a bottle of fizz and a birthday cake. Not many hotels do this and it was really kind of you. For this reason alone I would come back to Tropico… just I'll be eating out each night!

This is a first for me. I arrived at the hotel, and they asked if I was going to order anything through room service. I said yes, and we discussed taking a deposit. I ended up not using most of my deposit, and when I checked out, they told me they didn’t have enough money in the machine to process the refund. They said they could give me cash, which I could exchange at the airport. I obviously refused! They then told me to contact my bank and ask them to reimburse me. How do they expect my bank to just reimburse me because I told them I overpaid? FFS. If you can't cancel or refund deposits, why would you take them in the first place?
Then, it was impossible to get a bill with VAT. I'm still waiting.
The whole process lasted an hour! An hour where I was just standing at the reception waiting while they ignored me, watched me, and kept repeating, "It's the government policy. We cannot send money to international accounts. " I almost missed my flight.
I was going to review the hotel, but this ruined the whole experience.
Anyways, if you want to know: The breakfast is very good, the gym is nice, but my room was damp, dirty, and full of mold. I was praying not to have an asthma attack. I always travel with disinfectant, and when I wiped the tables, the paper was orange/brown. It disgusted me.
One positive thing: The staff is nice, especially at the restaurant and the cleaning team.

I stayed at Hotel Tropico for one night and it is a nice and clean hotel. The rooms are fine and there is no noise between the rooms nor from outside.
The restaurant has buffet and it has a good selection of food. There is also a chef cooking selected dishes. The food is generally good.

This hotel is a horrible waste of money. The food was disgusting they only had one vegetarian option which was a pasta that came cold. Their coffee costs more than it does in Italy. The hotel staff ripped me off when exchanging my euros. And worst of all, I put a “do not disturb” sign on my door and they came in anyway and moved a bunch of my very personal items. I will never stay here again.

Predictably good service. I have stayed at the Tropico several times and the level of service is consistently good. The staff are great and always courteous and willing to help. If I had one minor criticism it would be the bar food menu is limited.

It's always a pleasure to stay in The Tropico Hotel while in Luanda. I have to thank the Hotel's flexibility on granting early checkin and late checkout at no additional cost. Besides, the Hotel's staff is always very helpfull and friendly. Not to mention that the Hotel's installations are very good.

Great experience.
Special mention to the service at the restaurant to the waiter called Domingo.

Good hotel overall, slightly tired looking compared to the newer ones nearby. Excellent views where not made the most of due to small windows in the room rather than wall to wall windows. Would be a great hotel if there was a lounge and bar on the top floor with views to Luanda Bay.
