What a great place. Good food, friendly and efficient service, and the most idilic of spots. We stumbled across Balani Bar Restaurant on a drive along the lake and stopped for lunch — simple but fresh and tasty food with the most incredible view. They have a beautiful empty beach that was perfect for swims in the lake. Would definitely recommend as the target destination for anyone driving out from Shkodër for a day by the lake.
We were on a bikepacking trip at the beginning of october and arrived at 20:00 at the hotel with no reservation whatsoever.
The place was dark and seemed closed but after a couple minutes of us discussing wether we should continue biking or put up camp the owner showed up and offered us his hospitality.
He and his wife prepared us dinner, gave us a nice room to sleep and prepared breakfest the next morning. They basically opened up the hotel for us since we were the only guests that late in the season.
Lovely people and I would recommend this place any time.

We had one of the most delicious calamari dishes in the Balkans here at Balani Bar! It might be a bit tricky to find on your own, but if you've managed to locate it on the map, you absolutely must come here.
Beyond the fantastic food, you'll easily find a peaceful parking spot here, and an added bonus are the beautiful views and the opportunity to swim in Lake Shkodra right below the restaurant. Highly recommended!
