Alko Hotel Shkoder

Weird experience. The hotel itself is actually nice, everything is spotless clean and quite comfortable. The location is very good — quiet for sleeping and good walking distance from city center. We were served breakfast on the outside area of the cafe next to the hotel.
However, the service was not good — we waited quite some time for receptionist to check in and she was rarely seen the whole time. Several times the electricity was out, which meant no air conditioning, no Wi-Fi and no water in the shower. The breakfast was quite limited (eggs, sausage, tomato, bread), but ok. Only the third morning we were asked whether we would like sweet or salty breakfast. One morning they brought juice, other two mornings water. There is quite a large parking area, but be prepared that your car will be blocked in. Because in the same building there is a funeral bureau and there were several funerals held, which meant that the guests parked in the same parking lot blocking the cars that parked earlier. There was a nice guy who helped move the cars, but it was still a hassle.
Overall, it could be a nice hotel, but all the other details ruined it.

Excellent rooms and probably the most comfortable matress I've ever slept in. The facilities are very nice and new, but the service needs to improve. We were a group of 50 people so it took too much time to assign each room to each party. Nonetheless, very kind and helpful.

American traveler here, I’ve been to Albania a total of three times and can’t see myself staying at another hotel. Very good hospitality and warm staff, these people love tourists and will treat you very well. Also great location as it’s very close to the city center and has great food at a walking distance. Definitely consider this if your visiting Shkoder!
