Serpent Mound is a prehistoric earthwork located in Hillsboro, Ohio. It is a large effigy mound that is shaped like a serpent, with its head facing east and its body winding for over 1,300 feet. The mound is made up of soil and rocks that were piled up to create the shape of the serpent. It is believed to have been built by the Adena culture, which existed in the area from around 800 BC to 100 AD.
