St Christopher's Inn Paris - Canal Hostel

The location is great! The rooms are clean and tidy and the staff are friendly. The bar at the entrance adds a nice touch but the communal area is plain with tables only, no sofas to chill and feel cosy, a microwave was provided in that area. The luggage storage lockers in the bedrooms were broken, so it's extremely awkward going in and out of, and you need to pay for a padlock too. Also be aware, to rent a towel it's €2 and a €8 deposit, this threw me because I had limited spending money and could have done with that €10 during my holiday not at checkout. They offer free punch in the evenings which helps with meeting people in the hostel as there's nothing else happening in the evenings that's arranged by the hostel apart from on weekends. However it's in a fantastic location so there is plenty to find to do for yourself. All in all not bad for a hostel as long as your happy with all of the above it's a good stay.

Great hostel and a superb location! place is huge and super busy! A short metro ride to Paris touristy spots and right next to 2 metro stations makes u go anywhere with ease. The crew gets slammed everyday but awesome Iris at the reception multitasked like a champ!, helping carry luggage upstairs when the lift was broken, helping with the weird laundry and lockers systems, dealing with long lines of tires people all with a smile on please give this girl a raise!

The best option to stay in Paris. It is not very expensive and is close to a subway station, so you can easily move.

I think that I was very lucky that the choice fell on this hostel! This is my first experience staying at a hostel, at first was a little anxious about living with strangers, but then a small party arranged by the hostel discharged this atmosphere. The administration organized free beer and chips, the visitors went to the veranda and met each other. Thanks to this, the next day I went on a tour not alone.
I'm a little digress. The hostel is clean, the staff is friendly, in the morning offer breakfast of 4 euros, missed this option, fed ready meals from the supermarket.
I advise you to buy a lock to close your box. Those locks that they offer don't look very reliable, though maybe it's my paranoia.
If I visit Paris again, I would love to come back here!

Pleasant hostel, the service is smiling and available. The atmosphere is nice. Despite this, hygiene in toilets and showers is a little neglected from time to time, you just have to fall when there are few people.

They offer interesting rates in their restaurant/bar when you are a hostel guest.
The staff speak mostly English.

Stayed here whilst on a school trip last month. My college booked out a room of 12 for the girls on the trip so we should have been the only people to have access to the room. After discovering someone's belongings under my bed we checked with reception to see if the room was double booked. We were assured that the guest had been checked out, their key card cleared, and if they wanted their stuff back a member of staff would have to get it for them. So we all went to bed but in the middle of the night two men (who didn't work in the hostel) let themselves into our room and started shining flash lights around the place. Obviously all the girls were freaked out and complained to reception again. We were assured this would be handled. The day after this a few friends and I were getting ready for the day in our room and a man who didn't work at the hostel again opened the door with a key card, took a towel and left again. The lack of security in this hostel is terrifying. Needless to say, the college and everyone on the trip won't be staying here again.

Nice price, very friendly staff, good breakfast (extra 4€ in the price of the room, totally worth). The rooms are nice as well. And it is very close to the tube, easy access to the centre of the city.

Great place to stay at (solo or with friends) probably the best hostel in Paris: cheap rooms, clean beds, very lovely staff, reception 24/24. Most of customers are young and students. Good breakfast at the morning (not included but also cheap) late checkout to 11am so you can sleep more. Very nice location just beside the canal. I really advice this hostel without hesitation,

I'm thrilled! Excellent Network of Hostels. Stayed in Bruges and Paris. Large rooms and beds with blinds, breakfast included, good price, free reviews of the city (for tips), you can drop cruises on the river and much more. Oh, and the Eternal Aces downstairs at the bar. Pizza, beer testing (in Bruges) and all that. Got Drunk-and the floor above already a quiet crib;) A Great option for young travellers.

The neighborhood is very cute, maybe not so close to the most touristy, the rooms OK, beds with curtains and personal locker, you must carry your padlock, the staff spoke Spanish too, the bar is good, the food tasty, having a beer by the river is nice, there is laundry also, not mix the noises of the bar or the hallways in rooms, friendly treatment and tours available at good prices.

Cheap and best choice for solo travelers. Fantastic service provided. Service available 24/7. Place of interests are very much reachable and free/paid tour guides are available. Historical buildings can be seen around. Morning breakfast was complementary and it had variety of choices. Felt safe to stay here.

Typical st. Christophers inn. Good food, nice backpackers, well located and all helpful!

Very good vibe, nice bar. The pieces are comfortable. You do not have a private bathroom, or fridge, or kitchen, or breakfast gluten-free. Those who attend are re kind.

A single installer for the entire establishment. It's a little boring. The rest very well.

I loved it. It was good, clean, cheap, in a beautiful place near really cheap places. They have this cool restaurant-bar in the first floor called Belushis, which is amazing. The breakfast offered is a simple but nice. It has a very good location close to the subway. The staff is really kind, they speak a lot of languages, and they are always ready to answer at any hour of the day.

A pleasant setting for meetings and intercultural exchanges.

It was very nice and friendly staff but leaves the hygiene clearly to be desired. The food is served with rather dirty cutlery and you can't drink from the glasses.

The rooms were nice and clean. The bunk beds have a curtain for each bunk so it is nice to get privacy. The bathrooms were not always to clean. The bar is pretty good. Skip the breakfast and go to one of the two bakeries down the street.

St Christopher's Inn Paris Canal is located on the canal bank opposite to Paris Beach and is by far the best backpackers hostel that I have ever stayed in, the staff were all extremely helpful during my stay allowing me to park my bike safely, making sure to include me in the events that they were holding and also arranging for a shuttle service to the airport when it was time to leave. Each bunk of the 4 bed dorm that I stayed in had it's own light, power supply including USB charging points, and the curtains on each bunk provided a level of privacy rarely found in shared dorms. Thank you St Christopher's Inn you raised the bar on what to expect from a backpackers hostel.

Nice hostel with a great bar. The bathrooms really need improvement. The shower was way too hot and the blow dryer the ladies room was missing. I stayed in this hostel brand in Berlin and in Paris and the Berlin structure was way better. But the real negative point is the neighborhood. I only felt unsafe in this neighborhood in Paris. There are beggars on the streets and even the security guard from the hostel was constantly reminding people to watch their purses. I wouldn't stay there again.

It's a beautiful hostel located by the side of a canal. It has a small eatery/bar on the ground floor that serves nice breakfast. In the evenings, it's a bustling place. There are metro stations nearby, so commute is comfortable. We stayed in a room that overlooks the canal. The view and the overall experience was so great and inspiring. So much that we extended the stay to one more day.

I went there more than once and it is clean, comfortable bed, breakfast very nice, good welcome ECT no complaints.

The room was nice. The bathroom has 2 showers for a floor about 100 people to share for men and women. The showers floor the whole bathroom floor. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We received a big discount on our food bought at the Hostel. We also were able to make a few friends in the common areas. I enjoyed my time in Paris and used the metro which was a few blocks from the hostel.

The hotel did not confirm my reservation but debited me. I tried to call but the staff did not speak French, I hung up on the nose and although having called 14 times, did not answer me afterwards. Reporting to the crackdown on fraud!

The hostel is nice. Near the metro, close to grocery stores. The room was clean and the breakfast was good. The toilet is clean and cleaned.

Great hostel located by a canal a little out from the center. Easy to get around by metro regardless. Well kept, and the privacy curtains on the dorm bunks were much appreciated for a good night's sleep.

Good ambience but someone from the cleaning team stole my short and t-short that I was using as pajamas. I know that because they cleaned my bed while I was out. I asked for some help at the reception but they forgot to ask the housekeeper several times…

Good price for hostel… Good location to Metro and pretty clean. Beds were comfy, although the individual power outlets didn't work. Staff were super friendly with good English.

Awesome place for solo travellers to meet other people. I stayed in a private room — the bed is very comfortable. However there is no fan or ac so it can get stuffy depending on the weather. Other than that, highly recommend this place!

Beautiful atmosphere. Fun party location every night. But it's a Den of thieves. I have a long story about how as soon as I checked in, left my bag in my bunk with 6 men in the room (supposedly sleeping) I left for no more than 15 minutes but I'm pretty sure it was only 5, came back to find my bag was searched. Every pocket opened. Nothing stolen cause I'm sure they heard me taking euros from my bag before I left. But when I left my external battery to charge at reception, that did go missing. It's been gone for 2 nights now. I won't label it stolen just yet. I'm sure staff just misplaced it. Otherwise, the staff here standard nice *5 friendly service. They go out out their way to help me.

This hostel is correctly named the one of the best. Almost floating on the water, amazing view. Best prices, good place to meet people. Friday night parties. They serve one of the tastiest chicken wings and Non-alcoholic virgin mojito ever. Overall : best place for the travellers to stay. One of the best hostels I have been to. The building on the right in those photos is the inn. No affects, it really does look that amazing.

I really enjoyed my stay here because of the people you met at the hostel. I was in a room with 7 other people, I liked the curtain, bed, and locker. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars was it's a bit far from all the sites, and they don't let you check in until the stated time, which is a bummer when you get off a 12 hour flight and all you want to do is put your stuff down and take a nap.

Great hip hostel with a bar on the bottom. The noise from the bar doesn't travel up and disturb you if you are an early sleeper. Staff are helpful and friendly. Only downside was that when it got hot the hallways sort of smelled but then again so do the subways.

Okay hostel, but nothing great. Location is a bit out of the way, but isn't too far from the metro station. Doesn't seem to be in the best part of town, but didn't necessarily feel unsafe in the surrounding area. Beds are fine, but mine did seem to sway quite a bit when I was trying to get in and out or re-position myself. Shower rooms and bathrooms weren't anything special, and seemed to be pretty consistently dirty, especially the toilet area. Staff always seemed pretty helpful and I didn't have any issues with them. Overall, the hostel "got the job done", but it wasn't special by any means.

Great place, fairly average location. Great communal area, quality information — perhaps a bit less personal than I'd like on a hostel (VERY big), but overall good.

Staff is incredibly unhelpful. Stayed for three nights, and did not have a pleasant experience. Room was not clean when we arrived and the lights would not work. Despite telling workers it was never fixed. Speaking of workers, they care more about talking to each other than helping you. 4 people were behind the desk and only 1 was working. The rest were ignoring customers and talking badly about them.

Everything is perfect, excellent atmosphere, very good Wi-Fi signal, cute rooms and comfortable beds with a little privacy, plugs in each bed with lamps, perfect location, excellent food, the bar is great, good prices, I highly recommend it.

Stayed only one night, stuff rather unattentive, lockers function badly. Beds are badly fixed, whole constuction moves dramatically from a finger touch. The bar is horribly expensive, something like Soho night prices in the middle of junky area of Paris! Tablet stolen from me, and another valuables from another person from the same room at the same day.

I like so much. Staff was very friendly and helpful, Rooms & bathroom was very clean, aslo breakfast not bad. The room view was amazing. I am recommended.

This hostel was pretty good. Very friendly staff and the rooms were decent size. Although the rolling cage under ours beds weren't working 100% they were still usable. The breakfast is pretty small, just a bread; milk; yogurt and some coffee. Please have more choices!

Very good hostel, I was there 6 days and the pass very well, a little expensive but had gone in season high and sought hostel with breakfast included for force me to lift me early.

Clean, nice people and had a great stay. You can walk easily to sacre coeur.

The hostel is well. Equipped. Spent 4 nights there and would definitely stay there again. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast could have used more variety. Cold cuts and baguette can get boring after a while.

Clean room, great staff. The beds had curtains on them and the location was great. The only downside would be the limited monotonous breakfast.

Not the most central location, but it's close to the metro so it's easy to get anywhere you need too. I was in a 6 bed dorm that did not have bunk beds with curtains, so be aware that not all rooms are like the pictures. The bar downstairs had a good atmosphere. Would definitely stay again.

This is great, I like the style and very clean, you know people from all over the world, the quilts something descosidas, the internet is very good.

Nothing to do with Berlin, but in general this well, you know people from all over but has no spark, the bar service and kitchen is slow and they put beetroot on the burgers.

I stayed here about 4 years ago and have been meaning to review forever! I had a wonderful stay at my first and only hostel. It was clean, smelled great, had cosmopolitan guests, and I made friends during my week stay. I still recall everything about it. The breakfast was great and affordable. It looked just like the pictures. I was very impressed. Highly recommend!

Probably the best hostel I've ever stayed in. Dorms are clean, beds have curtains, plugs, and lamps which is a HUGE plus, lockers under beds, clean bathrooms and showers. I liked that there was a restaurant and bar so we could just drop our things and have a bite to eat upon arriving at night. I've stayed in a 10 and 12 bed dorm each time, and never found it too loud or dirty. I always rave about this place and hold every other hostel I stay at to the standards of this place. Can't wait to stay in the one closer to Gare du Nord the next time im in Paris!

Shady and lazy. Expectations were squashed in every way. 1. Elevator was broken, so I had to walk 5 stories of stairs just to get to my room. Forgot key? Walk 5 stories up, then 5 stories down down. Forgot wallet? Walk 5 stories up, then 5 stories down. No signs of them trying to fix the elevator. 2. Wi-Fi only works on the first floor, and even then it's spotty as hell. Oh yeah you also have to have your reservation number every time you lose your Wi-Fi connection. 3. The 7€ breakfast was pretty horrible. 4. No fan or A/C, and the windows in the dorms can only be opened slightly. It's around 35C in Paris right now and sleeping is a nightmare. I paid 18€ for an AirBnB and it was way better than this 40€ place.

Rooms were very clean and the curtains made it possible to have your own little cabin. Staff was very friendly, however the breakfast was terrible. Also I do not recommend the restaurant/bar connected to the hostel — very expensive, even with the vouchers you get at the hostel reception.

Large rooms with plenty of space for luggage. Nice bar area and night club downstairs. Also, riverside tables to eat outside. We changed our room type when we arrived and they changed it instantly. Kind of on the outskirts of Paris but It's just a 5 minute walk from the Crimée metro station.

It was an alright hostel. It wasn't the best but also wasn't the worst. The layout is great and the fact that they are cubby bunks, makes space more private. However, the Wi-Fi is crap. And they lost power twice and were unable to get the Wi-Fi up. Also, the bathrooms didn't have proper ventilation so be prepared for that wet stinky moldy smell.

Stayed here in a private room with my friend (both of us had never stayed in a hostel before) and it was great. Everyone working there was super friendly and helpful throughout the entire stay, but especially during our check out when we needed to find a cab to get back to the airport. It's also really close to a metro station and a great crepe place.

The Internet does not work all the time is switched off pay airfare and just in time for the collection moved to the Internet and was a problem to make the claim.

Very good place! For the price this super well! Rooms that are asean everyday, comfortable beds and good atmosphere. People of all ages and from many countries. The view at night den channel and the hostel is wonderful. Very close to the metro stations that take you everywhere.

Free Wi-Fi = 54 kbps internet connection per device. Yes it's worth losing two stars. Welcome to year 1998 St-Christopher's! Other than this the hostel is top notch ;).

This is my 5th time here and am great like an old friend. Very clean, great facilities you can party or not. Eat in their cafe, drink get information. Near the metro and shops. Catch the 54 bus from Gare du nord and a short walk. Hot showers there is a womens only floor very safe and secure. A laundry and its on a deck on the Canal very nice indeed. Giles the manager is very accommodating I asked him to fix the bed and he changed then to a higher level for us. s special thanks to Rory Melissa Ingrid and Sam and all the Aussie boys (your mums would be proud of you) we are so sorry to be leaving. Its also very affordable in a dorm or twin or private room. Clean hot showers. Free wi fi and plugs and lights in the rooms.
