I was just scrolling down to see if anyone else was disappointed with their stay as we were. I thought that the hotel was lovely however it was spoilt by most of the staff and the breakfast. The staff in main were the most unhelpful, aggressive, unfriendly people that I have experienced any where. The breakfast was worse than the $70 hotel that we stayed at on the edge of the Old Town. The spa was dreadful and when I walked in for my massage the staff ignored me and talked amongst themselves and gave the impression that it was about me. It also rated the worst that I have experienced.
The GM always points out that water can be obtained from the dispenser in the corridor, he does not mention that in the room there is two small metal bottles to fill which only contain about 400 ml. As we are supposed to drink around 5 litres a day plus use the water to clean our teeth most of the stay would be spent filling the containers. I noticed most of the guests were buying plastic bottled water from the shop across the road. So much for saving the environment that the GM proudly promotes, more like cutting costs.
I left my review with the hotel and never heard back from the GM. I have read his replies on TA to guest's reviews there and the guest is definitely not right, in his mind. There is an expression that the fish rots from the head first and Sunshine Premium is a perfect example of this. I have been staying in Hoi An every year for 10 years and will never stay here again. It is a shame as it could be good if the owners replaced the GM and staff with ones that believed in providing service with a smile and exceeding expectations.
