York Lakeside Lodges Hotel

Had a fab three nights! Lodge was spacious, clean and the kitchen had all the utensils needed. It was lovely to see the table set up on our arrival. The hot tub was great. We had a lovely view of the lake. Staff were very friendly and helpful, It definitely is a hidden gem with easy access to a shopping outlet and York City.

Had a lovely 3 night break last week. Check in was seamless, lodge lovely and clean and warm. We had plenty of room. Great location for picking up park and ride into York city centre. We’ll definitely be booking again.

We booked a two night stay in lodge 10, lovely log cabin and the surroundings so peaceful the only downfall was the mattress on the bed. Could not sleep on that. So had to leave a day early. Have emailed and they have confirmed that new mattress are ordered. And would get a discount when we book again. I would definitely be back if the mattress were replaced.

Hired a lodge out for my birthday… couldn't fault the place… incredibly private. … Nice Lodge… clean hottub… top marks 👌

Had an amazing time the lodges are fantastic the grounds are lovely. Hot tub really good. If you want to stay in Yorkshire this is brilliant 🤩 plus you don’t have to be a fisherman to stay. Dog friendly. Really Really impressed.

Went away for a couple of nights with my husband and 2 sons a few week ago. Absolutely loved it, very clean. Quiet and relaxing. So close to York so we spent the day their. Would definitely go back. The staff was really lovely couldn't do enough for you. Love this place. Hopefully see you again soon. Sandra smith.

Just come back from 3 nights at Holly Lodge. Beautiful place! Antonia and Alan as well as the other staff couldnt be anymore helpful if they tried, approachable and welcoming every time.
The fishing was hard but thoroughly enjoyable so dont be disappointed if you don’t catch the biggest in the lake, the lads on the syndicate happy to help you. I even got to help a bloke pull out a 21 pounder so there is some beauty’s to find. All in all great holiday, will be certainly making a return 🙌🏻

We stayed in Beech Lodge no. 6 for 4 nights with our dog and cannot fault the lodge — very clean, modern and spacious. Hot tub was amazing and was checked daily. Staff on site very friendly and kept asking if everything was ok. We loved it.
Fishing was more “tricky” — no one really caught much which was disappointing. From speaking to locals and other people fishing — this was a common theme — due to the amount of weeds. The staff were trying to reduce the amount of weeds but I suspect fighting a losing battle. Great place but the lack of fishing let it down alittle.

Don't let the bad reviews put you off, just had a 2 night stay at holly 12, was absolutely amazing and so peaceful 👌🏼 Antonia was very friendly and helpful sorting everything for us. Good communication:) and also really friendly cleaning staff, the ladies who cleaned our lodge for arrival especially. Dog friendly place. Will definitely be back ☺️thank you for an amazing time ❤️

Stayed her for 3 nights with 3 other grown up children a baby and 2 dogs. Really good communication from Antonia, replied to our messages quickly. The lodge was big enough but looking a bit tired. The view of the lake was wonderful, can’t comment on the fishing as were not fishermen but there was plenty of people fishing. Location was perfect, surrounded by woods and nice and peaceful, hard to believe it was in the middle of York. The only real criticism is that although it says it’s dog friendly, they had to be in lead at all times and there was no area for the dogs to run free, having 2 excitable energetic pups we had to drive them somewhere everyday to exercise them, other than that it was a lovely break, thank you york lakeside lodges 😊

They could improve by answering phone calls and messages and paying deposits back to people, instead of leaving it 6 months and still not getting anywhere. Communication is absolutely shocking.

Very accommodating and clean, such a relaxing setting and was lovely to have such a kind host.
The beds aren’t the most comfortable however the accommodation is reasonably priced and is within walking distance to York centre plus all other amenities. I am looking forward to staying hear again in the future and would definitely recommend.

Do not trust these people! Booked in confidence we could get our money back (this was agreed) lodge was cancelled by owners and told I would get. Refund that day. 2 weeks later numerous of calls texts emails which was ignored no refund. Luckily I paid through PayPal and filed a case. Case was decided in my favour and refund given. £324 is a lot of a money and the fact I was ignored is disgusting. Please AVOID booking and there is some other customers on here who have put something similar. They just ignore you double book everything to get more income in then offer vouchers which isn’t what we agreed to!

Amazing place, and very clean lodge. Would highly recommend this place to anyone who needs that relaxing break. Can’t wait to return which will hopefully be soon. 5 star easy.

Had a lovely stay recently with our two children who thoroughly enjoyed it. The location is fabulous both for local amenities and York city Centre but at the same time still feels remote and peaceful. We will definitely be booking another trip soon. Thankyou!

It’s nice and peaceful, not really impressed with cabin — 2 bedrooms, £500 for 3 nights. Shower doesn’t work, bath tiny (which wouldn’t matter if shower worked) beds uncomfortable, no towels, lamps in living room not working and not overly clean. Just no attention to detail, wires all over from fire, T. V etc. To get into the hot tub u have to go out of your front door so not really private… no hairdryer, could also do with a mop for floors during bad weather… there is also a leak from the extractor fan which makes the cooker hob wet through. In comparison to other cabins we have been in for the same price is what I am comparing this too so my expectations was higher than what we received. Good location but in my eyes when u come to a log cabin you come to relax and chill out and unfortunately it’s not overly comfortable. Don’t like giving bad reviews, we’re not snobs but have to be honest for people looking — would have probably expected to pay £250 tops.

When we arrived a hot tub was being installed outside our lodge and the lodge next to us. We were reassured by the owner on arrival that our hot tub would be ready to use that night if we could 'put up with a bit of noise'. Unfortunately, the constant hammering and banging continued throughout our stay, with workmen looking through the windows. Our hot tub was never installed until the day after our departure. Not a relaxing stay at all. We left a day early.

Lovely lodge with beautiful view over looking the lake. The lodge had everything you need for your stay (except food! ) very peaceful heaven to chill out The lodge was clean and the owner went over the covid rulings with us on arrival so we felt safe.

Absolutely beautiful grounds with a huge lake perfect for fishing, lodges are well equipped and beautiful with amazing views. Love this place x.

We Stayed here just before Lockdown as we took one off as most people wasn't taking this all serious as this was the best place we found to go to keep ourselves away from people as we had a vulnerable child and two others to protect too. We felt so safe here with our children and the stunning surroundings.
It really is beautiful. We could get out with the dog and my husband could fish can caught some Lovely carp.
He caught 5 beauties and lost two. Felt like we was in our own safety bubble. Hopefully will be able to be back real soon.

Horrible rude reception on arrival, no hot water for our duration, no fish caught be either us or anyone else there at the same time as us and all in all never ever would we return.

Really enjoyed our stay, lodges overlook a beautiful lake with plenty of space between each one. Lodge has everything you need, comes fully equipped, and spotlessly clean. Short distance into York with bus service within a short walking distance. Would recommend.

We've just come home from a weeks stay taking in the New Year, it was perfect… so much so, that we have booked the same lodge for the same week this year (Holly Lodge, number 14). The site is absolutely stunning, beautifully kept throughout and what more could you ask for than waking up looking over a lake with lots of wildlife. There were people working on site every day, tending to the grounds and keeping things liiking lovely. The lodge was outstanding, immaculately presented throughout with great attention to detail. Everything you need was there. We were a bit dubious about having to pay the electricity bill seperately as we didn't know how much it would cost on top of the stay but need not have worried, it was only £20 for the 7 day stay and we had the heating on every day. At just over 2 miles to the city, it is a secret paradise away from the hustle and bustle of the busy city, but so easy to access on the bus or even on foot. We left the car by the lodge for the week and bought a bus pass, cheap and easy at under 10 minutes to the heart of the city. When we walked to the city, we stopped off at two of the pubs along the road, about 5-10 mins walk from the lodges and they were both superb and well worth a visit. All in all we came home very happy, perfect location, beautiful setting, dog friendly and already looking forward to our next visit to explore more of York.

Great location lodges are very clean and tidy we have been here 5 times and have always been very happy with the service and staff would highly recommend it and they are good value for money we would not go anywhere else.

It's a well tucked away retreat just a stones throw away from Yorks city center, which is only a 10 minutes bus ride away from outside the 24hr Tesco's at the Park & Ride. (10 minute walk)
The Lodges are comfortable and the grounds are near on perfect.
The owner 'Neil' is a nice chap and is always helpful when you need him.
The lake is a beauty and holds some good looking, though hard to catch carp.
Myself and the wife cant wait to return for our fourth year!

We go every year. It is always spotless, peacefull and the staff are great. Lots of wild animals in a peacefull setting just a short bus trip to york town centre. It is a little bit of heaven to unwind from everydayy life. We will never stop going.

We’re just back from Another week here this was our third time here & would recommend it to anyone. We stayed in the one bedroom lodge which is perfect for just 2 of us & from the minute you arrive you just feel so relaxed & it’s a perfect place to just go chill out. The lodges are spotless with everything in you need & York is just a 10 min ride away we used the park & ride most days & also had a day at the races! Will def be booking to come back soon.

Just had a 7 night stay at York Lakeside lodges Neil the owner very friendly the lodges are clean and tidy with everything you need for your stay Tescos and lidl around the corner 5 min walk the grounds are kept clean and well maintained I fished the lake every day it was hard going at times but the rewards were good 18 tench between 6 — 8lb plenty of small roach and perch to 1lb.

Very rude and stuck up he’s own bottom would not recommend to anybody for a break or a days fishing absolutely shocking.

Just back from a week stay in Willow lodge. Lodge was ok comfortable, dated in places and not spotless but never the less a good base for exploring york with askham bar park and ride on the door step (A far better option than parking in York centre which is extortionate). The lake is beautiful with good views from the lodge but dont expect an easy fish. It is a hard lake to fish with many people we spoke to including ourselves dissapointed with the lack of fish! (0 caught in a week). There is a small park for children but it is far from a safe or clean enviroment to play in. Wifi is available but it is not a strong connection especially if more than 1 person tries to connect. We had a ditch at the back of the lodge backing onto a housing estate which appeared to be a bit of a rubbish dump which really was a shame. There is a train line at the back of the lodges which is noisy but you dont hear it once inside. All in all a good base but dont expect too much.

Love the place we have been twice now cannot fault it my only concern is the lake needs more fish in it.

York lakeside lodges is amazing. You don't need to fish to enjoy yourself.

Lodges and water very nice but could do with stocking water with more fish has fishing very poor and you have to pay extra to fish even if you're staying in a lodge and gas and electric and use off sauna which is in some lodges is also extra.

Lovely place, beautiful surroundings with friendly helpful staff. Nice and relaxing surroundings. Looking forward to going again.

The lodge we stayed in was nice and well equipped, unfortunately the furniture was old and uncomfortable. Came home a day early as we all had bad backs. Can't fault the views and it really is very peaceful and easy to get into York centre from. Just a shame about the furniture.

We have been coming here for at least 10 years. We have enjoyed every minute. The site is quiet and tranquil. The snowdrops are excellent and also the tree bark at other times of the year magnificant. Sorry think the trees are some sort of larch not sure but look good. We have tried many lodges but afraid to say this time we have found the best. Its No 14 Holly Lodge the 2 spaniels think it is wonderful looking out over the lake and generally not much else disturbs them. They enjoy the lake walk at every time of the year. May be better say not so good we like it to much need to be able to come back.

Just come back from a 4 day stay at york lakeside lodges. We was meet by a very rude man who gave us the key to the lodge and basicly said your lodge is down there not very accommodating, we found our lodge no 2 what was very back dated and very dirty and alot of wrong with the lodge, broken door, broken couch, broken single bed, broken handles broken TV ect. The biggest problem was when we was checking out this very rude man appeared again and presented me with a 17 pound bill for electric for a four day holiday when most of the day we was out! I was gob smacked I've never been charged for electric. Never again will we return. I never review anywhere but if I can help just one person who will read this I'm glad I did this review.

Great location on the outskirts of York with good transport links to the city. Very peaceful and relaxing settings with very spacious and well equipped lodges. Very helpful and friendly staff and wonder views across the lake from the well positioned lodges. Very affordable prices and well worth the price. Wifi is extra cost but is very reliable and easy to connect to. This place is a great location for a relaxing break and it is so quiet you forget it is just outside a major city. Would highly recommend a stay here.

Lovely views, well equipped lodges and owner was really helpful. Feels like you are in the country even though your close to York city centre.

Excellent place to stay for long or short breaks. Cabins are of a great standard and close to local shops also only a short trip into York city centre.

Fantastic location, we stayed in Holly lodge which had beautiful views over the lake. Lodge was spotless and well equipped. We will definitely return and highly recommend.

Lovely place close to amenities yet shielded feel you're in the country. Spotlessly clean. Great for families and couples.

All I can say is amazing. First time we have been there and it was heaven… the bed was so comfy as well. I was so sad to leave. Came away so relaxed. We was in number 12 it had one of the best spots well recomed staying in that hut. We even took our dog with us and he loved it to the point he is in a big sulk were bk home. My partner was fishing as well which he court one so he was happy. We will defo being here agin. You get a big 10 out of 10 from us.

We stayed in housr A. House was a goid size. The kitchen had everything you needed. 3 bedrooms. The bedroom with 3 single beds had a toilet ensuite. There was a double room with lake view. The room with 2 single beds had a lake view. Bathroom, bath, toilet, shower and sink. Modestly decorated although perfectly comfortable. Large dining area and lounge area. Open plan lounge and kitchen. Electric gate to get in. Good fishing I was told. Advised by anglers common and mirror carp are good to fish for but other varieties. Not busy so peaceful fishing could be had. Close to York Centre. I walked in. The house it's self felt cosy.

My sister been here for a week with 3 children, she loved the view, the lodge and how close was from Tesco/pubs.

Had a few very nice and relaxing days here, lovely walk round the water, garden areas very well kept, everything you need in the very clean lodges. Well recommended.

We stayed for 4 nights in 1 of the lodges. This was our second time staying here & we had an amazing time Once again! The lodges are spotlessly clean on arrival with everything you need for your stay & the views over the lake are beautiful. We will be back again for sure! My only criticism would be the sofa & mattress were not as comfortable as I would like but would still recommend highly to anyone who is looking at going here!

We had a thoroughly enjoyable 4 day stay at York Lakeside Lodges early May 2016. The setting was perfect with tranquil views over the lake. The Lodge had absolutely everything that you could ever wish to need in the kitchen and the friendly owners had very thoughtfully left milk and tea bags for our arrival and there was even a lovely vase of fresh flowers on the table. The Lodge was warm and comfortable and please don't worry about the electric bill at the end of your stay we had loads of hot water, the heating was used and we didn't scrimp and our bill was just short of £7 for four days. There was an information pack in the Lodge which told us everything we needed to know about the local area and York centre is under an hours walk away or you can catch the bus from the local Tesco which is on the doorstep. The owner was very helpful and recommended the Cross Keys as a local pub which we could visit with our dog. The site also has kennels in which you can put your dog if you go out for the day-I would recommend taking an old blanket with you to help make your pooch comfortable, but the kennels are dry and secure and our dog was very settled whilst he was in them. Overall this site is absolutely lovely and I couldn't recommend it highly enough. We can't wait to go again…
