Great hotel. Lovely friendly staff.

Beautiful stay here with my boyfriend. We arrived to be told that we had been upgraded. Friendly staff, and an immaculate gorgeous room with a fridge and a selection of teas and biscuits. There was also a huge comfy bed. Can’t wait to return x.

We stayed in one of the cottages called orange. Absolutely loved everything about our accommodation. Extremely comfortable and the perfect getaway for a couple of nights. Beautiful gardens in a fabulous location. The food was delicious, staff friendly. Can't wait to return! definitely up there with one of the best places I've stayed.

We had our wedding here on 08/08/22 and I can honestly say that Becky and the team were incredible. They made us feel at ease and the day was very organised and stress free for us and they were very accomodating. They did everything we asked and the staff were amazing at the reception/ night do… They kept my nephew who is 3 yrs old entertained and they were so helpful. The rooms were lovely and comfortable, very peaceful. Food was awesome, no complaints at all!

Just spent a couple of nights at Middleton’s hotel and absolutely loved it! Was amazed how quiet it is considering it’s so close to the centre of everything! The staff should be congratulated, they were all really helpful and courteous. Special mention for Tina. My friend has broken her arm and was struggling but Tina soon stepped up and did all she could to make life easier. It was nice to have breakfast where everything was brought to the table snd freshly cooked. We had evening meal there too and it was delicious and not too expensive. We stayed in a cosy room but it was more than adequate and the bathroom was really big and very modern. We weren’t expecting air con so that was a nice surprise. The toiletries and hospitality tray were really good quality and replaced when used. If we come back to York wouldn’t dream of booking any where else, wish we could have stayed longer!

I had a very comfortable stay. Lovely staff, great food, the water is hot. Walking distance to sights and shops.

Afternoon tea was very disappointing. Slow service, cheap and nasty bread and burnt, inedible scones. Ours was not the only poor experience this afternoon. They definitely took their eye off the ball with this. The man behind the bar was lovely and tried to make things right but overall a poor experience.

Middletons is a lovely hotel. It has a relaxing atmosphere. The staff are extremely helpful and polite. The food is very good with a good variety. Walking distance from the city centre. lovely stay. Oh! and thanks for helping me with my car 🙂

We had a special birthday weekend here with a big party of friends, the food was excellent and the staff could not have been more helpful. The birthday meal in the Sawmill was perfect and again staff were so kind and accommodating. Thank you We will be back.

Lovely setting, wonderful service and one of the best afternoon Tea’s I’ve ever tasted. Would definitely recommend people visit here when in York, especially if an afternoon tea is what you are after. It was in my Birthday and it made it very special and my 3 year old got her own little toddler afternoon tea too. Thank you.

We got married here yesterday and what a lovely place. Staff are so friendly and welcoming. We had Becky as our wedding coordinator. She helped make our day very special.
The selection of food and drink was excellent. As well as the hotel room for the night.

We absolutely loved staying at Middletons Hotel. The room was spotless and full of lovely amenities, the staff is welcoming and accommodating and there were vegan options for breakfast.
We would have loved to see more options in the dinner menu, but I am sure it would happen very soon.
Thank You Middletons, we will definitely be back.

The bed rooms are lovely very comfortable staff friendly and breakfast very filling had chicken kebab far to much but delicious would recommend the Middleton hotel and would return.

Four of us went for afternoon tea today and we were very impressed!
Nice fresh and full sandwiches, lots of choice of cakes which all were delicious, And plenty of it we took a box of cakes home there were so many!
Great staff, made sure we had everything we needed and more. Would recommend and will be going back.

We had a wonderful Afternoon Tea. Staff very good looked after us. Food was excellent, could not eat it all. Only slight niggle was they packed our remaining buns to take home just in grease proof paper and cling film, which when arrived home all squashed together. Would have been much better in a box as other Hotels has supplied. Would go back.

We had a very relaxed, 2 night stay, with you.
The staff are friendly, welcoming and attentive. The food was delicious and the room was great.
We stayed in one of the cosy rooms that back onto the road, so we did expect some street noise, it is the city centre after all, but it actually wasn't too bad and didn't disturb us or make the stay any less enjoyable.
The hotel grounds are stunning and made us feel like we were sat having drinks in a country hotel, rather than an inner city one.
Thank you for looking after us. We came home feeling very relaxed.

We called in for a cup of tea to shelter from the cold wind. It was lovely, warm, and comfortable.

Decent enough but not nearly as nice inside as the photos of the historic buildings would suggest. You only get one key per room, which can be awkward. Friendly gym is a bonus, the pool only accommodates 1-2 people swimming against the water jet! Very good location.

Central to York and a relaxing ambience! Good breakfast and friendly staff. Needs a little updating and no safe key or code to use safe in room 8!

Had a nice stay here. Great location, not far from station. We did have to move room on second night as the room we were in was so noisy. Didn't get any sleep. But Reception was very helpful and moved us into new room as soon as they could, and the room was very nice and clean. Hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend the hotel and I would definitely stay again. Great weekend in York.

Brilliant stay at this hotel. Room 53 was a treat as it was a special birthday treat for my daughter (and me). Room was very spacious. Staff were really helpful and friendly. They helped arrange a surprise bottle of wine in the room on arrival too. I booked direct so breakfast was included and there was a really good choice on offer. The only thing stopping me giving 5 stars was the coffee. I really look forward to a fresh filtered coffee when I stay in a hotel and was disappointed to find a self-serve machine. However, I am being a snob. This hotel is perfectly placed for the train station, town centre and the bus stop (for the bus to take you to the designer outlet shopping centre). Brilliant service. Friendly drivers. Number 7 runs every 10 mins. The hotel is quite close to one of the entrances to the wall. Thanks to everyone at the hotel who made our stay in York very special. We will definitely return and recommend it to friends and family.

Beautiful old building, thoughtfully renovated, even with charger plugs next to the bedside tables! Joking aside, lovely stay, excellent service. Rooms are small, but well appointed, clean and comfy.

Web site stated free breakfast, but after paying over £170 we were informed only if you book direct? So free breakfast if you pay for it. Mediocre room. £10 parking fee. Never again. Back to travelodge.

We came here for a night away for my birthday and I must say, I loved it. The room wasn't the biggest, but it had all the amenities required to make it a comfortable stay and it was clean. There was a wedding on at the night and although we were pre-warned about it, I was a little anxious that the noise would affect our sleep, but in all honesty we could barely hear it. The receptionist Tara, was lovely. She greeted us with a warm smile and was really helpful and friendly. A credit to the hotel. Central York was only a short distance away So no need to wait around for public transport. All in all it was a great stay.

Not too far a walk from the train station or city centre. They have a lovely bar on the ground floor and the staff were very friendly. The room itself, while not being luxurious (nor intending to be) was very cosy. The building itself is nice and kind of hidden away. I was allowed to leave luggage at the reception after my checkout which was very accommodating.

Really nice staff, decent little bar/restaurant and parking (limited). Lovely burger. However, the bathroom in Room 25 was awful, there is no other way to describe it I'm afraid. Head to toe pink & dated. And some kind of wet floor with a drain that you can't help but stand on. Would come again if a standard room was more like £75-80 as it's a good all rounder near the city centre (5min walk if that). I would avoid 25 if I came again, but they could all be the same!

My husband and I stayed one night at this place, it was the first time I visited York, the hotel is a little tucked away between the neighborhood but very close to Downtown York and a few minutes walking to the train station, the staff is very friendly and the place very nice, the habitaación we had had a very comfortable bed to rest, the TV was little small but it was not big deal; They still use keys (not cards) to open the doors of the rooms.

Absolutely fabulous couldn't fault anything! Room was very clean and plenty of space, iron and ironing board, 2 dressing gowns, good hairdryer and even an umbrella, super comfy bed! Breakfast was really good, staff were fabulous, couldn't be an more helpful Hotel and grounds really stylish, have a gym and pool too! We will definitely stay here every time we visit York from now on! Highly recommend, 6 stars if possible.

Good location, good restaurant (excellent breakfast). They brew their own beer. They have a gym. Rooms are just ok. Walls are paper thin. Not enough lighting in bathroom. Beds are not very comfortable. Good for short term stays (1-2 nights at max).

Fantastic central location, yet quiet. Room facilies good, particularly comfy beds. Pleasant bar, foyer and atriums to relax and chat it. Most of all: friendly, helpful and capable reception, bar and dining room staff. Thanks to them for an enjoyable weekend in York!

I've just had dinner here at hotel's resto with a group of indonesian that I'm leading. The food is delicious. The service is great. The staffs are really warm and helpful. Would love to come back and experience staying at the property.

Excellent mid-range hotel in a great location within the city walls. Only stayed one night and didn't eat in the restaurant but the room had individual character, was clean and equipped with coffee pod machine, kettle, tea bags and complementary water and biscuits. Staff friendly and efficient.

Visited for an afternoon Christmas lunch. The staff were excellent in all quarters, from reception to bar and waiting staff. The meal was served promptly with a nice time interval between meals. The starter portion was a bit too small, but the main and dessert were of a good size. Food was hot, consistently presented and of good quality. Brownie points go to the waiting staff for providing peppermint tea at the end for me as an alternative to coffee or tea. Looking forward to next year!

Spent a long weekend here, for my birthday treat from my husband arriving 20th October. Our room was nice and the hotel staff were friendly & helpful. Our only complaint was when we decided to eat in the restaurant on the Saturday evening for my birthday meal. We booked a table the previous night, when we arrived we were seated and given menus, then we were told that there was no lamb available (which we was both going to have) it isn't a vast menu so was surprised, so I then ordered pork from the specials and my husband chose fish & chips. Then the waitress came over for a second time looking embarrassed and said there was no pork available, there was nothing else I fancied so I settled for a steak and requested it well done. When our food eventually arrived my steak was burnt on the outside and raw inside, I returned this explaining that I had requested well done. I told my husband to eat his otherwise it would go cold, lucky I did, cause I waited for about another 20 minutes before receiving the same bit of steak which I had cut about back, and can honestly say it was one of the worst meals I've ever eaten. While waiting for my dinner I took the opportunity to go to reception to complain, the staff there were very helpful, and the duty manager did knock 50% off our food bill (although wish I had refused to pay anything for the steak) and thanked us for being so understanding.

Had a lovely stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good facilities everything needed was provided. The room was a bit tired but would still stay here again. Great location.

I stayed in the carriage house While the main hotel may be nice, our room stunk of grease and mold. Very dated and wasn't really worth the high nightly rate. Shower was just a hand held shower sticking off the wall. Toliet was loose and wobbled when using. Mattress most likely hadn't been changed in years, very deep body impressions. Room also backed to a road that was busy and could here traffic plus people all night. Only saving grace was the location and breakfast.

Spent 2 nights here in early September, wish it had been longer, large clean room staff helpful friendly professional didn't use the restaurant but food from the bar was very good. Also very nice sitting area outside as we had lovely weather. Close to everything highly recommended and will visit again. Thank you.

Beautiful building, nice and friendly staff. We had a deluxe room which was, nice and had a separate sitting area. Bathroom was fairly basic. Asked to leave key with reception when you go out which was a bit onerous…

What a wonderful hotel. Our room was lovely and spacious and very well decorated. Located in the heart of York so no need to use the local transport. We also had a meal in the hotel which was fab. Amazing staff also. Visiting York, this is a must stay.

The lobby manager Rocce was very passionate and efficient to resolve our room exchange requirements and offered free drinks for us. Really appreciated and the traditional breakfast is pretty good with waiters good smile.

This was one of the nicest hotels I stayed in on my study abroad trip. The hotel is clean and the rooms are well furnished. A bar and restaurant are available in the lobby. Conveniently located between historic York and a more modern part that has groceries and chain food. It was in walking distance of anywhere my group needed or wanted to go.

Stayed here on business, and booked in again next week. From the outside this place looks amazing. Gardens are stunning. Food was great, although at £5 a pint, it's a bit pricey. Staff were so nice and accommodating.
But unfortunately I felt lots of wee things let the place down, and my room was a bit underwhelming.
The rooms are very minimalist and not very inspiring. It was almost as if the room was missing something. Not sure what though. Bathroom was great and had a great shower. But it needs a wee tidy up. Marks on the walls, very noisy fan and just needs a little tlc.
In the main room I had a picture on the wall, that fell off during the night, which resulted in me nearly hitting the ceiling. Turns out it was held on by Velcro! When walking around the room the floor boards were so noisy (so apologies to anyone in the rooms either side of me). My room was directly above the breakfast room and kitchens. So the fans could be heard up until around 10pm. Staff clearly used the door below my window whilst on breaks etc. So folk talking away until around 00:30am and it all started again around 06:15. So not the best sleep.
I like this place and I am hoping I was just unlucky with my room allocation. It's in a great location and within easy walking distance of all the attractions.

It is an amazing hotel staff are absolutely brilliant and very accommodating to your needs came here for a surprise birthday weekend away and it was more than perfect :) the ladies on reception were brilliant especially Harriet who bends over backwards to make sure your needs are met in an exceptional way! Couldn't fault any of the facilities and the food is amazing! Had amazing breakfast every morning, lovely evening meal on the Saturday and a lush 3 course Sunday roast with complimentary champagne defo will be returning and defo recommend this hotel to anyone who wishes to visit the amazing York!

Excellent location for exploring York. The rooms are clean and well kept. The showers are excellent. Lots of hot water, decent pressure. The staff are getting and helpful. The cooked breakfast is a must. They serve the best black pudding I have had in ages. The only negative things are; no lift, you need to carry your bags upstairs and parking is very limited and costs £10 per night. This is my "go to" hotel in York.

Although we only visited for afternoon tea it turned out to be one of the best (and biggest) we have sampled.
The place is remarkable even by York's historically demanding standards and well worth a visit for any reason.
Well trained and knowledgeable staff complimented this hugely enjoyable experience.

Good location close to town. Lovely building and a really big room. Service was good. Pool out of order which was a shame. Didn't eat so can't comment on the food.

The Hotel is a short walk from the station, and provides easy access to Yorks ammenities. Middletons offers a warm welcome with Decent rooms, spread out over the small complex. Onsite is a gym and pool although the pool is only 4 strokes across. My second stay here and happy to use again.

Nice room, although bed was a split double. Venue looked very nice, very professional, although I didn't try the amenities. Location handy for food and drink by the river.

A great place for a family meal very accommodating and relaxed atmosphere. We had the carvery great food and great value for money. Lovely bar area and the staff were friendly and very helpful.

Our room smelled strongly of sewage. We were situated above the bar/function room and were subjected to a voice speaking into a microphone from early morning to late in the afternoon. Although the reception and bar/restaurant looked modern and nice, our room was very old fashioned — resembled a tatty 70s B&B. Other reviews state that some other rooms were more modern and nice but can safely say ours was very poor.

I stayed for two nights recently for business and travelled with a colleague. Check in was slick and pain free, all the staff in hotel are very nice and helpful. Rooms and public areas are exceptionally clean. Breakfast… well day one was perfect and good cooked breakfast and a selection of cold buffet items. Day 2 was very different… lots of staff but only some could take food orders. My colleague waited 30 mins for a cooked breakfast which was never eaten as we had train to catch. Rooms where a nice size but I would have expected the tea / coffee / biscuits / bottled water / soap / shampoo ect to replaced / refreshed where needed every day but they where not. Very disappointing. In fact the rubbish from day one was not taken when room was cleaned either. Eat in reaturant one night and was disapointed to be honest. £20 for fried brie and chutney starter and followed by 3 venisons sausages and small amount of mash… kids portions sizes really. Depsite this I had a excellent night sleep, area is quite and room was warm. I will be booking again when next on area.

When you use you're sat nav to get to the Middleton, don't be suprised if you can't find anywhere to park… the parking is around the back and you've actually been taken to the pedestrian entrance. When you do finally find the car park though you're greeted by a lovely little walk to the hotel across a little pond. Checking in was a breeze and the bar / restaurant was open till quite late which was good as we got there late. As you walk through the hotel to your room, you get the feeling that this place has seen a lot and has been kept up well. The room we stayed in was fantastic. Double bed, ensuite and it had an additional day bed. The room was nice and bright and tidy and it felt almost like I was at home. Out the window was the garden and a few ground level rooms. The staff were really nice. I had forgotten some things there and they managed to locate them and get them to a delivery company for me. All in all, I would go back again. It's a really nice place and not set to far from the centre of York. And there's a gym if you fancy that kind of thing when you're on a break.

Lovely hotel and grounds. Parking was a slight issue — no mention of it being round the back when booking and on phoning reception the directions given were a little poor (still didn't say it was round the back until he actually came out to meet me), found it eventually.

My dad and I stayed at Middletons in the beginning of June this year. We were only stopping for a couple days to look at the University before heading north to Scotland. We found the room to be wonderful, very clean and spacious, and the restaurant served delicious food for both dinner and breakfast. The restaurant workers were friendly and efficient. We found the hotel staff to be very helpful and welcoming. They gave us advice on different things to do and see as well as telling us which public transportation to take for our trip to the campus. It was quiet, which my dad loved because he is a very light sleeper. It is also a very short walk to the main town center and not a very complex route. Someone is at the desk 24/7 and when you go out you leave the room key there to make sure you do not lose it. Definitely would stay again.

We stayed on Tuesday night. Lovely large room, very clean and modern (although we did pay for a deluxe). Didn't hear too much noise. Food was really nice in the restaurant and all the staff were really polite and helpful. We didn't use the gym but the pool isn't very big. We really wanted to stay another night and will definitely be coming back.

First class hotel. Stayed 2 nights Sunday package with upgraded room. Staff were polite and helpful and the rooms spotless. Restaurant excellent and restaurant manager very efficient. Will be going back there later this year.

My rooms was clean and a good size. Breakfast hot and tasty. It's a valuable bonus to have parking facilities staying so close to York centre. In my experience, parking can be very difficult in York and this hotel is within easy walking distance to the centre of the city. They have 'live' jazz nights here too.

We had one of the tripple rooms which is very big, very clean and no problems but the hot water run out after my sister was in for 30 min. Food was good and was reasonably priced. Overall very good would stay again.

Loved its location for accessing the best of York. The staff were lovely and were more than very helpful. The breakfast was stunning, tasty and plenty of it. However, the double room we had was very basic (but clean), it did not live up to the pictures on the web.

Great location! Shared parking with gym and pool which is used by non-hotel patrons, therefore fills up at busy times. The decor was dated and a wee bit dusty : — (All this for £99 a night? Definitely not the best value. On the cost alone I probably won't go back.
