We checked in on first of April check in was efficient, room was lovely clean and tidy. Lovely welcome gift for myself. Dinner in restaurant was lovely food staff were excellent. Saturday 2nd April reception were kind enough to book taking into town. Breakfast excellent. In the evening we celebrated my retirement the classics room. Great time had by all, venue perfect. Big thank you to Sammi, Ben and josh who looked after my event. Huge thank you to James in the main bar who was very helpful and professional. Sunday the 3rd April, excellent breakfast again, big thank you to Pankaj and his team for a great weekend and to chef and his team for the wonderful food. Always a pleasure staying at a Marriott hotel. The pool areas are always amazing and the food is fab too, especially the breakfast. The rooms are always clean and warm and welcoming. Love it here.

Clean room. Lovelly spa. Good pool and gym great view of York racecourse. Food excellent. 8 mins from York Centre and Wall. Friendly staff. And finally wow. The food is great. Conference facilities good. Bar prices reasonable too. Only tip I could give to hotel is maybe update rooms. But they are big rooms and clean.

Really upset as I’ve just spent 3 nights here with my partner and we’ve been before but won’t be going again. Firstly the hotel was really quiet but the few guests that were here they decided to put us all next door to each other so we could all hear each other. Why not spread us out. Secondly the whole heating system needs updated. In the bar there were noisy fan heaters dotted around and our room was freezing. After the second night I asked to be moved to a smaller room thinking it would be warmer, I was told no and given a blanket. Thirdly the jacuzzi was lute warm, when I asked if the temperature could be increased the lad said no it’s automatic. When complaining to Marriott head office about this experience they offered me 3000 points possibly which they haven’t but this is the equivalent of £15. Altogether room and breakfast cost £450

We attended a wedding yesterday (7-08-21) and the whole day was amazing! Nothing was to much for the staff. The lady seeing to all the arrangements was so professional (sorry I didn’t get your name) She was very helpfully, thoughtful and caring. Thank you for a very memorable day!

Lack of staff, confusion over booking / payment for stay. Room nice and big but plug socket making cracking noise, sounded electrical? No laptop internet connection. Waited an hour for dinner / room service. Shame as hotel has potential.

Lovely room, good safety measures for COVID without affecting enjoyment of the facilities as long as you book and enjoy table service. We felt very safe.

Many thanks for our amazing staycation, hotel absolutely immaculate and very well set out for covid and social distancing. Very attentive staff who couldn’t do enough to ensure we were looked after, even giving our daughter a surprise dessert after our meal as she celebrated her birthday yesterday. Food in restaurant absolutely delicious and gorgeous breakfasts. Leisure suite immaculate. Will definitely be back and highly recommend!

But only if they have a higher level in the Grandstand block. Room was spacious, and immaculate… Restaurant very over priced so recommend eat out! Some very good restaurants elsewhere! We had a lower level yes views over racecourse was fantastic but wished we were higher up… Bus service brilliant and cheap price leave car back at hotel. Parking right outside our room was a bonus! Overall enjoyed our stay for 4 nights. Wasn't cheap but exploring made up for it. Breakfast was fantastic as included in the price we had it brought to our room which was special! So thankyou under the circumstances with lockdown etc and you had just re-opened etc a good job was done!

Had a lovely time here over the New Year period. Very friendly staff lovely room very pretty venue great location nice food. Had a really nice time there is a great bus route into the city for those who need it. Two lovely local pubs walking distance. Highly recommend a visit will come back again.

Warm and friendly staff, beautiful suites with balcony area—great view of the racing course from our balcony, gorgeous green area/patio in back, free parking, close to bus stop so super easy to get around, wonderful breakfast. We love it!

Came for 1 night stay with husband for a birthday treat for him and staff on reception desk were very friendly. They gave him a gift for birthday and complimentary drinks. Would deffo recommend this hotel and will deffo return.

Shared a twin room with a friend, she paid full amount on check out, they confirmed nothing was outstanding and they subsequently charged the amount to my credit card (which was used for pre-authorisation) and they are now refusing to refund. Totally unacceptable.

Here for a work event, everything great but I went swimming yesterday and there was nobody on the reception to swap my locker coin back for my card. After waiting approx 10 minutes I managed to speak with another member of staff who issued me another card straight away. Aside from that the stay was brilliant.

Lovely hotel our room was lovely our balcony was really big with a view off the race course room was clean and the bed was so comfy breakfast was nice dinner was a bit over priced for what we got but over all great stay and staff were lovely can't wait to go back.

Perfect escape for me. Hotel is in perfect location, staff are lovely, leisure facilities are nice, food is mouth wateringly good and restaurant staff incredibly attentive without getting in your way. Highly recommended.

A nice Hotel, with full leisure facilities, about 1.7 miles from the city centre, enjoying bus stops pretty much on the doorstep. The lounge area (and I assume some rooms) enjoy views across the racecourse. The food is of a high quality, although watch out to the discretionary service charges. There is free parking for patrons. I enjoyed my stay, and will visit again!

Excellent service, nothing is too much for the staff. Modern, clean and great facilities. We were there for our anniversary and prosecco and chocolate cake were sent to our room. Made it all the more special.

Stayed here on Sunday night after doing the York 10k. A fantastic place to relax and unwind. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool is perfect with a swimming area and a jacuzzi as well as steam room and sauna all included in the price of the room. The restaurant was excellent both in the evening and for breakfast. Would highly recommend.

Always a treat to stay here. Great location about a mile outside of the walls. The service this visit was a little under par compared to other visits. There were 3 of us in the room, and despite repeated requests, they never caught up to the fact that we needed 3 cups for tea, 3 sets of towels, more shampoo, etc. Otherwise, the room was big and comfy and we loved the bed! Lovely view of the horse track. We enjoy an evening sit out on the bar patio and having an Artois cidre!

Enjoyable and comfortable nice to be able to use the solarium and gym. Bit upset with the charge of £3.50 to Have drinks carried to table 10 feet from bar. But on the whole experience was lovely.

Great place to stay, close to the town centre. The staff were really helpful. We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary and the hotel gave us a free bottle of procecco. Would definitely stay again.

Professional, helpful, happy staff and hotel service. The only issue we had during this stay was down to the unreliability of the card keys not activating the lock to both the room we stayed in. The staff were brilliant in getting us in on two of the occasions and did not ruin our stay. The bar and restaurant was great, honest food and drink prices. The no noise policy during a particular time in the evening is very welcome. We had a balcony room overlooking the racecourse that provided a great view and peaceful location. Thank you.

Stayed here for two nights to celebrate my 21st birthday and couldnt rate it high enough! When we arrived (early) our room wasnt quite ready so the girls on reception took our bags and gave us information on things to do in the town which was very helpful!
When we returned to the hotel the staff checked us in straight away and even carried our bags to the room for us! After five minutes of being in our room a member of staff knocked on the door with a free bottle of prosec…co for my birthday which was so lovely as we had no idea we would recieve it!
The room was beautiful and clean and so was the pool and spa area! The breakfast and dinner service was incredible and the staff were happy to cater to your every need! I honestly have never had such good service and I will 100% recommend this hotel to everyone coming to York!

A return visit. Enjoyed it again but some issues. Optional service charge of 12.5% in restaurant. I don't believe you should embarrass your guests into asking for that to be removed and Marriott knows that 89 per cent of guests won't. Waited for 50 minutes between courses. Had to wait for breakfast 2 days out of 3, despite plenty of free tables. Try hiring enough staff to clean the tables. Small pool so again unavailable 2 out of 3 times when we wanted it, and had to wait. Room keys had to be changed 4 times as kept failing. Noisy pipework in toilet in room.

Lovely staff, beautiful rooms and very quiet. A little issue with parking, but eventually sorted out. The food is ok for its price but your better off going out and getting something. Steam room and sauna are amazing, as well as the pool. If your going to get a spa treatment, I’d book ahead as they’re very busy.

Great friendly check in! Rooms are spacious and access to pool and spa is always a bonus. Best part was the restaurant and service here. Food was outstanding, Diana (my server) was brilliant. I asked a question about a desert and the chef sent out a taster. Personal touch! I will be back.

Comfortable stay. Table staff attentive. Been before 2 years ago. Looking even more tired now. Needs updating. Noticably shabby. Needs a redesign to accommodate an area to sit and relax in.

Stayed as overnight guest, staff were friendly and helpful, room comfortable and well presented, nice gym if a little small (making good use of the space available). Pool area nice. Overall well worth a visit, nicely priced too. Well done.

Overall good experience, provided extra tea when asked and were helpful. They also offered to upgrade our room when there was a problem with the heating. Good price with free parking. 20min walk into city centre.

Great location right next to York race track, being about a mile into town centre and a nice hotel. Really friendly staff, really helpful who made the stay enjoyable. Good food in the restaurant with just the one mishap.

Marriott always seems to miss that all important 5 star with me. Rooms feel slightly dated and were quite dusty. The room had a balcony and a racecourse view which was really nice and the bathroom was massive with both shower and bath. It was quite cold and although they provide radiators, still took its time to warm up. Staff were friendly, with special thanks to Tony in the bar. Very funny guy and really couldn’t do enough for us. Restaurant okay, nothing spectacular. We tried both bar and restaurant food. A massive ’put off` was the 12.5% service charge, this was applied to everything inc. Tea/Coffee. Breakfast was heavily priced, we ended up going to Tesco Cafe on one of the mornings, which really surprised us on how good it was.

Excellent hotel and location within walking distance to work centre. If you don't enjoy walking bus stop across the road goes right into the town centre. Only downside is I would love to go during an event at the races but can't afford the price hike!

We stayed here for one night. Lovely hotel although far too warm through the night. Air con wasn't much use in our room. Also 2 double beds in our family room which didn't suit our 12 and 16 year old son's so eldest slept on the floor. He did sleep well though We stayed B&B and did have a look at the bar menu but it's quite expensive. The hotel is well situated to walk into the city centre. We didn't use any of the leisure facilities but on view the pool looks like a big bath.

Very spacious and welcoming room, with comfortable beds. The room was dusty but that didn't matter too much as we only really used the room to get ready and sleep. The staff were very friendly and helpful and they had good car parking facilities with plenty of available spots. The breakfast was very good with lots of choices, and the dining room was very pleasant with lovely views of the racecourse. Overall we had a very nice stay.

Nice hotel. Has a swimming pool. Quite expensive. Breakfast was good. Our air conditioning did not work so the room got very hot. Informed team who said they knew of the issue but still put us in that room. Said they would alert maintenance but as we were only staying 1 night that wasn't very useful. Offered no compensation.

We stayed here on Saturday for my birthday. What a beautiful hotel. Fabulous spacious room. We had a grand stand room overlooking the race course. Amazing view. Would go back.

Great hotel, clean and staff are friendly. Great facilities, bar area and menu. Little walk into city centre but bus number 4 is readily available outside to take you into the city.

Love this place, stayed a few times. Great views across the racecourse, lovely gardens, comfortable rooms, good food. Regular buses to the city though we enjoy the 30 minutes walk.

Really nice hotel with beautiful gardens spacious rooms with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in the only downside was the meals and drinks were a bit pricey.

Lovely hotel. Near the racecourse and close to the city centre. The staff are very friendly and the rooms are tidy and clean. We had a great stay.

Great stay. Lovely hotel and this was our second stay. The aircon was not working which was a shame as it was hot. They said they would have moved us but all rooms were taken. Hotel was clean and free parking was a big plus.

Do not book the grandstand room with racecourse view until you call and check room details. We were given a room on the ground floor which had a view of their car park (and a slight glimpse of racecourse). You have to keep the curtains shut to have any privacy from all the people who drive their cars in and out of the parking! And of course they are aware of the room's issue but decided to give it to us anyway, saying they don't have any other room vacant. And their lift was out of order — we weren't informed and had to drag luggage down 4 flights of stairs.

The food here is excellent and costs between £16 and £28 for a main course. It is a couple of miles outside of York city but easy to get into the centre. Nice views of the race course from the back.

Nice surroundings about a 20 minute walk from York centre. We had the £59 Wine and dine deal for two and it was very good. Room was clean. Unfortunately we never got to use the pool or spar facility's. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed for one night at this hotel, using it as a base of operations for a two day trip to York. The pros were: — very nice breakfast — free access to the hotels tennis courts The cons were: — we paid extra for a room with a garden view but we were not given one — when we're arrived at breakfast we were not listed as having breakfast included in our stay despite having paid for it to be included in our stay — we stayed over on a particularly warm day and found the air conditioning unit to be completely ineffective, we both had a very poor nights sleep because of it — location was near enough to York to be affordable by taxi but not close enough to be comfortably walkable — the swimming pool and sauna facilities were very small and outdated and felt more like a trip to the local leisure centre than to luxury hotel — the safety catch of the window in our room was broken All in all we were very disappointed and wished we had booked to stay at the Hilton instead! Won't be staying here again, and won't be recommending it to friends or family.

The hotel has decent facilities, including a small gym, saunas and a pool. Staff are relatively friendly and helpful. The rooms are a good size, enough space for a large king size bed along with a 2/3 seater sofa, office desk etc. Restaurant food was decent but I can't comment on variety as my work package probably came with limited choice. The building is okay but a bit dated in some areas, my trouser press for instance looked like it was from the 80s and was not securely fastened to the wall as one of the screws had come loose.

Really stunning place, went there for my brothers wedding which he won in the newspaper and was so impressed at how professional everything was. Looked in one of the rooms and loved the look of the massive beds. Would love to stay here sometime.

I arrived after a long journey and was greeted warmly. I had the fortunate experience of being upgraded to the penthouse overlooking the racecourse. As you would expect from Marriott the room was well appointed and spotlessly clean. I ordered steak from room service which arrived promptly, was well cooked and tasted delicious. All staff encountered during the stay were bright, bubbly and smiling. When you travel a lot this makes a big difference to your day. I loved the hotel and can't wait to return.

We stayed for 2 nights and were really well looked after. A nice hotel and grounds with good facilities such as Wifi and health club, as you'd expect at this price point. Additionally, it's an easy trip into York on the bus, with no hidden extras such as parking charges, which we had encountered at other hotels in the city. But what was more important than all of this were the really cheerful and engaging staff. We would stay again without hesitation.

Fab night away! The staff were faultless. The leisure facilities were great and the swimwear dryer is a fantastic idea. Food was delicious though a little pricey for room service. However it's always that much for room service. Massive bedroom of top cleanliness. Very pleased with our entire stay and just a two minute walk from the racecourse which is where we were attending. Extremely happy.

Very nice hotel. Stayed one night and used all the facilities. Quiet enough to go to bed early. Rooms are well kitted. Trouser press, hair dryer, towels and toiletries. All the usual stuff you'd expect at a Marriott. A big thumbs up from me bonny lad!

The facilities are great, on site swimming pool gym and sauna. Great central location for York — it's right next to the race course in a very peaceful location. The room was well equipped to and the family room was a good size for the four of us. A very enjoyable stay.

Had a great 3day break. Stayed DDB in a delux room Staff extremely friendly and helpfull. Food delicious with a great choice on the buffet breakfast. Only downside was the décor in our room it really needed redoing as wallpaper scraped and torn in places.

Booked in for three nights and were offered an upgrade on arrival. Clean well appointed room and friendly staff made the stay pleasant. Great breakfast with fresh cooked food (spotted a tray of fried eggs being replaced as they had been sitting too long) and attentive staff. We did not eat dinner here as York has so much on offer.

Good wedding fayer. Not too busy inside although parking was at a premium. Recommended.

Being a Platinum Marriott member I was hoping for a good experience and this hotel is lovely. We got a room upgrade to a Grandstand room overlooking the Racecourse. Breakfast was excellent and have no faults with this hotel. Would definitely stay again.

Just had my daughter's wedding at The Marriott Hotel in York. What a wonderful experience. Staff bent over backwards to make sure the day went smoothly. Food and service was excellent, all staff extremely friendly. Bedroom was spotless and had a comfortable night's stay. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in York. Thanks to you all for making this a perfect stay for all of us.

We had a great one night stay at the hotel. The staff approachable and friendly, the veiw was amazing; overlooking the race course. Its in walking distance from the main station and they have one of the best restaurants in York located inside. It was perfect for our family, it had a family friendly baby pool and changing rooms. They even had high-chairs we could use in our rooms.

Nice Location, good food and service in restaurant (Dated needs refurb) the only disappointment glass of wine with dinner (£8.25) No wonder second night the Londis store over the road was very busy with guest from Marriott buying wine. Leisure centre very nice and clean. Very enjoyable Stay in York. Free Wi-Fi for 24hours then very expensive for checking emails if coffee chains can give you free Wi-Fi I think the Marriott could provide it.

Internet was so poor. And they wanted to charge 15 GBP per day — ridiculous.

Upon check in the initial female we dealt with was hard work and offered no alternative other than a downgrade when our rooms were not ready at 15:00 despite this being check in time. The pool is extremely small and seems to full a lot of the time. The rooms are, as usual, extremely clean with nice sized bathroom and a pleasant balcony with views over the racecourse. I would recommend and stay again, just hopefully we'll be greeted by someone different.

Staff were very friendly and helpful and Hotel was good value for money and clean. Some handles and fixtures and fittings are showing their age for a 4* hotel such as old CRT room Televisions. Bathroom had a broken toilet seat which the hotel fixed the day after being notified. The bathroom tap was also loose. *Note that wedding receptions can easily be heard from the first floor rooms of the hotel until the early hours, for those who want an early night. * Other than that, a pleasant stay and great proximity by bus to the City centre — 10 mins.
