Visited today and both duty managers jayde and Catherine checked that my family were ok and had taken part in the egg hunt. Drinks were delivered promptly.

Stayed at The Old Tollgate Hotel for New Year's Eve package and celebrations. We were not disappointed. Room was clean and comfortable. Food was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a very enjoyable stay and would not hesitate to return. Thank you to all the staff.

Stayed one night in preparation for the funeral in Brighton of my beloved cousin and the hotel was comfortable and welcoming. Lovely friendly staff and the evening menu was varied and interesting. Delicious choices for starters mains and desserts. After a comfortable night, came down to just as inviting breakfast. Particularly recommend the sausages which were delicious. Would certainly recommend and stay here again.

Good food and service excellent, a really great place to go for a good evening out or even stay overnight and nothing is too much trouble for their very friendly staff.

I can not recommend this hotel enough. The staff are amazing, especially Dragos. Our company now use this hotel for all staff who are working in the area. The hotel follow all safety precautions relating to Covid and makes you feel safe throughout the stay. The menu changes every couple of days which is brilliant when staying over a number of weeks — every option is delicious! Thank you to all of The Old Tollgate team! X.

The quality, portion sizes, selection of accompanying vegetables etc. Were outstanding.
We are quite a fussy lot and not one of us could fault the meal.

Had a lovely lunch in the garden this week! Would definitely recommend. Great and friendly service and the cleaning of tables etc when people left was amazing — felt very safe eating here!

Booked a room for our 25th wedding anniversary & did the meal, breakfast & room deal, good value for money. Room was a decent size & quiet looking out onto the garden, dinner & breakfast was amazing. All staff we encountered were helpful & chatty.
Will happily book again.

Worst service EVER! Sat down, took 25 minutes for the drinks to arrive. Rudest man serving the carvery too, walked off in a huff. Awful food too, not worth a visit. I then had to queue to pay which took a further 15 minutes. The place has gone down hill, we will never go back.

Came for a lunch today with my family. I’ve never been before! Have to say the food and service were amazing, so much choice, even for my fussy kids! Really well organised in there, felt very safe with the COVID rules.

Very friendly staff and the food is great, caters for everyone. We had our 60th Wedding Anniversary dinner there on 26th December 2019 had our own room making it much more private. Would have had my 80th birthday bash there too but Covid 19 stepped in instead.

Thus place is great, id recommend the carvery, the starter bar is fantastic lots to choose from and the actual carvery us done to perfection, all the staff are great and very helpful and all at a reasonable price.

We had a beautiful carvery meal at The Old Tolegate this evening with our 2 young boys. The food was amazing, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly! Happily surprised that it was such a wonderful experience as we have always thought it was perhaps a bit fancy for younger children. But we were made very welcome and our boys absolutely loved it! Thank you.

The food was fantastic, we visited from Wales and came for family celebration, stayed at the hotel, the room was big the bed comfy, the staff could not do enough for us, the drinks a bit pricey but it didn't spoil a fantastic time, thank you we will be back.

This place is great! I have never experienced a more friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was generous and delicious. They happily stored my bags for a few hours so that I could take a hike in the area (No car. ) They promptly delivered a fan to my room when asked and even helped carry my bags to the bus stop down the road! I highly recommend a stay here.

Excellent hotel and restaurant. We have eaten here several times over the years and always enjoyed it. This year for the first time we stayed in the hotel and it exceeded our expectations. Great staff, Great food, Great room all in a fantastic location.

Enjoyed a special offer one course lunch which was a carvery. The pork was very tasty but declined the beef as it looked far too rare for me. Staff helpful and polite. Don't think the decor had changed in years but clean and comfortable, suited to an older clientele.

Lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings, very comfortable room with excellent shower room. Restaurant was superb as was the quality of the food. Would definitely go back again. Most enjoyable.

As frequent visitors to Tollgate (restaurant only) have had our minds made up that the overall food is way over priced compared to a Toby Carvery. Veg are basic. The only good thing about the meal is choice of starters and puds if you opt for the 3courses depending on how big your wallet is. Drinks are OTT. A bottle of Prosecco was £30. Gin and tonic came served no ice no lemon and a grunt from the waiter when asked can we have it served how we asked for? To top it all this place caters for people who want to be seated by 7pm and out by 9pm latest. Last 2 visits were exactly same by half 9 we were only ones in the restaurant. To make things worse the waiters were obviously keen to clear away as their presence hovering behind pillars waiting to clear was out of order. Will we return? No that was a final visit. Shame as used to be lovely atmosphere there now it's like something out of the dark ages deathly quiet hardly hear any music and the staff need to learn basic customer skills.

The best Best Western I've stayed in by a long way. Great staff with sense of humour. Buffet roast and breakfast is superb quality. Secure storage for cycles. Recommend increasing beer selection, and adding portable fans in the rooms.

A wonderful place to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary. Normally I like to go out and look around but I saw the Carvery and OMG knew we had to eat in. The food was absolutely wonderful, I loved the garlic mushroom starter and pork crackling is an art and their's was perfection. Even though it was a carvery they bought the plate to our table. Now that's service. The room was massive and the shower was super modern. I can't fault anything and as an experienced connoisseur of Best West Hotels this has to be right up with my top 5.

So just been to this establishment for my mother's 80th birthday and my mother and fathers 57th wedding anniversary. Lovely meal but sadly let down by extremely rude and confrontational serving staff! Complaint made, but the damage was done, no proper apology and we will not be returning.

Good food with a varied selection and nice ambience. However they use the same carving tong and knife for all meats. My wife and I don't eat pork for religious reasons, but others may have allergies so not good practice in my opinion.

Beautiful hotel to stay as well as just go for lunch or dinner. Lovely location. Plenty of parking. Very friendly and welcoming.

Clean rooms and a good size, friendly professional staff and beautiful food. My only critisism would be there wasn't enough comfy seating just to have drinks and the shower drains need a bit of maintenance as the water didn't run down too quickly. Other than that, would definitely return.

Ben, who looked after us at the Baby Shower yesterday, was absolutely amazing! We were in a private lounge which had been set up beautifully! He made sure we were 'topped up' with tea and coffee during the afternoon and the Afternoon Tea was delicious! Ben is an absolute asset to your hotel and when we come back again (hopefully soon! ) we'd want him to be there! Anne Knox.

Food was good for a carvery. Nothing special. Staff were a little absent. Would have been better if we could have ordered our drinks from the table rather than having to go up to the bar.

Had Sunday carvery. Just amazing. Ollie the chef is amazing. So helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommend for coeliac disease. Ollie is like a guru! So very helpful. Not cheap but worth every penny.

I am amazed. Thank you to the staff especially Ben (I think) for making my daughters 18th birthday so special. He helped us with our surprise stay we has for her and him and the staff went out of there way to make it the best it can be. What a beautiful charming place. I would rate it ten stars. Thank you.

Excellent Hotel close to Steyning. The breakfast is fabulous. A firmer bedding would be ideal. Quiet place. Comfortable room in the building after the reception.

I love this hotel. Something different than hotels I stayed so far. Opposite of the bed is a Jacuzzi, not usual. Usually they have Jacuzzi in bath room. I loved to use it to read newspapers and to relax. The hotel itself and the surrounding very nice too. If I come again to Shoreham, I would stay here again. I miss also the fish and chip in the pub just in walking distance from this hotel. I tried later 'fish and chip' in other pubs and restaurants around England. But the one close to our hotel is the best so far.

Had a Sunday overnight stay, welcoming staff on arrival. Room clean and comfortable. 3 course carvery meal for £22, excellent value. Good choice of breakfast in the morning. Would recommend if looking to stay in the area.

A great place to eat after a nice long walk along the river Adur to work up an an appetite. Went on a Sunday afternoon which means they are serving a three course all-you-can-eat Sunday Roast. Plenty of options on the starters from meats/fish to salads to soup. Just don't go mad so you have enough space for the other two courses. Mains are several types of meats if you want, or a few meal options such as mushroom stroganoff. They are not stingy with meat. I went for turkey which was tasty and not dry. Plenty of vegetables on offer and all tasted great, particularly the cauliflower cheese. Feeling quite full, we went to have a look at the desserts. So many options. At the time we went up there was no one to ask about allergens and it's not written on the board so I went for the safe option, the fruit salad and ice cream which was fresh and delicious. Well worth a visit. Good value for money at £22.50 per person.

Fabulous hotel in every way! The reception staff were cheerful, friendly and efficient. The double room was beautifully furnished, comfortable and very clean. The choice of food was amazing and nothing was too much trouble for the dining staff, who made sure our party of 17 people were very well catered for. A thoroughly enjoyable stay at The Old Tollgate — I would highly recommend it.

Excellent restaurant for a roast. Hot and Cold starters, awesome selection of roast meats plus specials and fabulous desserts. Have as much starter and dessert as you dare and maybe even squeeze in some delicious fromage from the cheese board. Sunday lunch is £22.50 for 3 courses but I think that's quite reasonable considering what is on offer.

From the moment we first visited the Old Tollgate Restaurant back in 1987 a week after our Wedding we have enjoyed frequent visits to the beautiful village of Bramber along with the amazing food and hospitality that has only got better through the years. A wonderful place to stay a tranquil and quaint place of calm. Room 219 the best large and comfy — bed amazing and good to good to die for.
Worth a trip you won't be disappointed.

On behalf of myself & my new husband we would like to thank Robert the restaurant manager & all his staff for making our wedding day on Saturday 17/09/2016 so very special, nothing was to much trouble & they placed all our decorations on the tables to set up our wedding breakfast & evening reception rooms to make them look I superb.
We would certainly recommend as a wedding venue, most of our guests stayed in the hotel & had a great time, the food was superb I don't think calling it a carvery does it justice, suggest it should be called a 3 course meal with selection of carved meats? As this give more of an ideal of the selection on offer.

It's OK for a couple of nights but a bit out of the way. Clean and comfortable with a decent breakfast. Don't expect a useable phone signal.

We just came for dinner at the restaurant as we used to go but hadn't been in years. The staff were helpful and the food was really tasty. The puddings were our favourites, a shame that after all the other good food we didn't have room for more trips to the selections!

Food amazing, atmosphere excellent, rooms brilliant. Stayed for 3 nights and would recommend for anyone to stay and taste their food.

The private room was lovely and spacious however the food wasn't the best.

Went for a family dinner, lovely evening and excellent service, choice of starters has been better in the past.

1 day work presentation, but for the price I was very disappointed with the facilities. The room was chilly, partly as it's a listed building with single glazed windows, but also not enough heaters. Sandwiches were very mediocre, with only a few options and not a bit of salad in sight! Slightly dry small cake slices finished it off. Not impressed.

Went for Sunday carvery. First time there and enjoyed it. Great selection of starters. Had the beef roast and it was one of the best I've had in ages!

Stayed last June 2015 had a great stay clean comfortable room easy parking with a breakfast with a wide choice of food. We would definitely recommend.
