Me and my sisters took our mum here for her 60th birthday! We did the ultimate girl power tribute night and spa package and I can honestly say it was fantastic! From the moment we walked in the friendly reception staff welcomed us and sorted our rooms, the food and service was brilliant the tribute band amazing and to top It of the treatments we received the next day was up there with the best Wev ever had! The therapist were very good at there jobs and were also very knowledgeable! I highly recommend going to the hotel and definitely visiting the spa for treatments! Thank you for making my mums birthday treat so amazing! We will definitely be back!

We went for a spa experience. The massage was lovely and so were the spa staff. We then went for a carvery which was a very different experience! The beef was very small and very tough. My daughter had a chopped glass and didn’t realise until she cut her mouth on it. We told the maitre D as we left and he took her details, we’ve heard nothing not even an apology. My daughter was the designated driver of us 3, so asked for a large coke. We were told there was only bottles. It was 200ml and they charged us £2.50 only to see on the table next to us they were served 3. X pints of coke from the tap. When we questioned it the reply was the girl who served us was new and didn’t know the drinks range…really? We’ve been before but that’s the last time for us. Disappointed would have had a better tinning experience in a Toby Carvery.

Amazing experience all the staff were so lovely. Nice weekend away in the eco pods. Amazing grounds and romantic get away.

The carvery was one of the best I've ever had although we had a 2 night break & the choices were the same on both nights. Maybe that needs to be looked at?
The golf course was in excellent condition. A fair test for high & low handicaps alike.
Would recommend it for couples & larger groups.

Lovely space with super friendly staff. As a wedding videographer I have shot a few weddings @ Old Thornes and can't wait to shoot here again. Highly recommend if you are looking for a venue in the area, great location with amazing facilities x.

Went here last night for an Xmas getaway and what a getaway it was! The food was amazing, the waiters were friendly and the atmosphere was wonderful. Deffo coming back here :)

Every member of staff we spoke to was polite and couldn’t do enough for us. The room was lovely and the meal and service was perfect! Also had a massage which was amazing. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful place, lovely food but they need to maintain their toilets better… a smashed glass, knife and some ice tongs were on the sink in the disabled toilet before the evening began and there was nowhere or nothing to dry your hands with. The ladies wasn’t much better. Not enough to put me off tho, I’d definitely go their again to see the Dolly Parton tribute night with Sarah-Jayne xx.

I lived their in their 2 bed room appt, it was soo luxurious and the view is just amazing, pool spa all the facilities were spot on, just they need to enhance their breakfast, otherwise its just like a dream place.

Just had an amazing spa weekend here, highly recommend it. I had the best facial I have ever had, there are great facilities and lovely food. Thank you to all the staff who work so hard! We can’t wait to return.

Rooms desperately need to be redecorated and thoroughly cleaned. The walls and carpets are filthy. No aircon. Was really disappointed. Definitely overpriced for a nights stay! £160 a night without breakfast included. I think a night's stay in a decent London hotel would be better value for money.

Booked a Whitney tribute night. Never laughed so much and the service, room and staff were all so lovely.

Six of us stayed in an apartments on a girlie spa weekend & I was so impressed. The surroundings are beautiful & the hotel well decorated. The afternoon tea was nice & was plenty left over which we took away with us. The spa facilities were nice & clean. We were self catering & the room had all the utensils you would need. There were 3 separate twin bedrooms each with its own bathroom. All in all very happy & would definitely come back again.

Fantastic spa stay and loved the Eco Pods. SOPHIE in reception was so helpful and made myself friends and family feel very relaxed and welcome.

This is the 2nd time I’ve been to this amazing hotel. All the staff are sooo friendly & accommodating nothing is to much trouble.
The Spa is amazing as well the staff were lovely. Food was lush & my husband was over the moon with the Carvery.

Fantastic place, beautiful food, friendly staff. Our room had recently been painted so rub down dust all over the towel rail which we had to wipe down. Also it really smelt of paint so gave me a headache. Had facial and massage, I can’t remember her name but she was amazing and so friendly we laughed the whole 2 hrs. Only Criticism is products have changed since I went last time and I didn’t like them, a lot thicker on my skin and I didn’t like the smell as much either which has put me off of returning for the Beauty side of things. One more observation which has happened every time I’ve been is the water jug around the pool is never refilled. Staff should really check this every half hour and replace/ top up.

I was so excited about visiting here but it was one big disappointment, dirty room, extreme lack of care and attention from the staff. Not impressed one bit, it’s left me feeling very down after two days here and it’s not cheap.

Stayed for just 1 night for our wedding anniversary. In our room was a box of chocolates and a card wishing us a happy anniversary which was a lovely touch.
Room was huge as was the bed! View coukd have been better looked onto another building. Food excellent as was the pool. But coffee was never really very hot!.

Shocking. Don't plan on coming for a meal and getting fed at the same time. Incredibly poor at getting food out at all, never mind at the same time as any others in your group. If you do come here it's probably best to eat before you do or bring your own food. Only gets 1 star because I can't leave no star review.

Excellent facilities, food and accommodation were great. The staff were brilliant and even had a sense of humour. The Golf course was interesting but unfortunately not in very good condition due I guess to the hot summer. I would definitely recommend it.

A very nice and clean hotel. However! I would prefer to have seen a smile on all of the staff’s faces. My niece and went for a spa break just for one night. It was a shame that our stay immediately followed a bank holiday weekend when the hotel staff had dealt with 8 weddings. Some of the staff were obviously very tired and it showed. We had a couple of quips during our evening there. The barman could have looked a bit happier when serving us with delicious gin and tonics. My evening could have been a disaster when a waiter ran straight into me when I was carrying my plate of delicious roast dinner. I couldn’t help but forgive the young man when he was almost his knees begging for forgiveness with a glass of Prosecco for both Louise and myself. Dinner, prosecco and the bottle of red wine were all delicious, by the way!
Our room was comfortable but the hotel should invest in Air conditioning AND decent sized TV for the larger rooms.
The facials we both experienced were very, very good and I would definitely stay at the hotel again to experience another similar treatment.
Well worth staying at Old Thorns but you can always improve by looking and working on those finer points!

Fabulous hotel. Our room was spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. Lovely bathroom with a good size bath. We had breakfast in our room and it was delicious. Attention to detail was much appreciated.

What a lovely venue for our Ruby Anniversary. Terrific spa treatment, great room, attentive staff and good food in Buffet. Excellent Sports Bar and good parking. Well worth a visit.

Very lovely place. Great treatments with amazing beauty therapists. Place slightly run down with tiles missing from the spa and stretched carpets and buts, but this did not detract from our great time here! I highly recommend!

Having visited a few times this is what I have to say. I was a member of the gym for a few months. But then cancelled my membership due to machines forever breaking down, bad air conditioning and classes being held in the gym area with instructors shouting very loudly distracting you from your own exercise. Apart from that the fees for the membership were very expensive and the level of service did not meet up with it. I would like to recommend the Herons gym in Haslemere as an alternative, almost a third of the price but with lovely staff who take the time to show you exercises and how to use the equipment plus a much more calm atmosphere to enjoy your exercise routine. Now to the main restaurant where the carvery is served, everything was great but the meat. The beef was very tough and the turkey had uncooked/bloodied parts in it. The chocolate cake I had for after was completely dry and almost as solid as a rock. Me and my friend had trouble cutting through it. However I must say that the service at the Sports Bar was great. A lovely lady called Sally served us at the bar and she gave us great service we were extremely impressed thanks Sally for a great evening!

I had the pleasure of staying at Old Thorns for my 50th and I can honestly say that it was the best time ever. The venue is amazing the staff were incredible and I would highly recommend it to anyone for a special event. If you want something special this is the place to go.

We had the pleasure of staying at Old Thorns last weekend, and can not recommend it highly enough. We work at this venue regularly to film weddings, which are always expertly ran making the couples day go extremely smoothly. This is the first time that we attended as guests, and saw the venue from the other side, and my god it was amazing. The leisure suite is great and the food is second to none, what a roast! We can not wait until we get the chance to stay at this fantastic hotel again. Thank you to all the staff, you are a great bunch :)

This is the second time I've been for a spa day. Staff are attentive and helpful. The hotel is clean and tidy. Food is divine. Service is first class. Worth every penny.

Great hotel, location and staff… always enjoy staying here. Rooms are very comfortable, there is a great choice of restaurants depending on your mood plus the on site Starbucks is a nice touch. Gym facilities are very very good! Looking forward to my next stay.

We stayed in an Eco Pod for a night when attending a wedding. The wedding venue was beautiful, lovely decorated and had a very pleasant private outdoor area with nice views. Our Pod was super cosy and great value. They don't have bathrooms, which was not a problem at all, as the shower block was very close. In fact, the bathrooms (three to serve seven Pods, plus a separate toilet) were immaculate. The main issue we had was the access to the hotel, which took us around the perimeter, and seemed like the 'tradesmen' s entrance ', took us passed a staff smoking area, beer keg storage and general building works. Initially, when we checked in, we were told to go through the Champagne Bar entrance, but when trying to enter later, it is often locked. Also the pathway to the Pods needs to be addressed. There is a sloped pathway covered in stones, which was like walking on the beach. Not easily negotiated with heels. Other than this, it a lovely place to stay, just remember to bring your flip flops.

Lovely carvery on a Saturday. You can serve yourself which makes it handy if you eating with children. Just £9.95 a head which I thin is very reasonable for a carvery. Salad bar is also delicious as are the puddings. Lovely setting if out with family.

Had a lovely evening went to watch the tribute band Queen B who I must say we're really good. We also had a set 3 coarse meal which was nothing to write home about & would hope if u went there to eat it would be much better! The decor is amazing. I had no idea it was so BIG! Beauitful surroundings.

Staff helpful in pro shop. Food prices are bit pricy. Weather brilliant we found the course although challenging was not in such good condition considering the Greentree one is expected to pay at weekends, I expect it will be sorted. Thank you for the use of the course.

Very, very impressed with this hotel. The rooms were clean and spacious and comfortable. The facilities were very good. Hi tech gym, residents had access to the pool, sauna, steam room and hotbeds. The food was of a generous quantity any very good. The golf course (didn't get chance to play) looks fantastic. There is also a spar side to the pool area, where you can have treatments. Will be going back for sure.

I had lunch at this Hotel. There is a large Car Park in front of the Hotel which is shared with the golf players. The restaurant is very well appointed and most tables overlook the golf course. There is a very good mixed hors d'oeuvres and an excellent carvery with a good selection of vegetables. Deserts are mainly a selection of gateaux. It is all very nice and averagely priced.

There's a lot of packages going on, wedding, golf, spa and themed evenings. My son got married a couple of weeks ago and due to caring for an elderly relative I was unable to stay there the night prior to the wedding and requested that my room was available at midday on the day of the wedding. Despite it being a huge hotel this could not happen! I had to get ready in a relatives room. Advice would be to stop extending and make what is already in place better as it is a beautiful setting.

Very nice place. Went for a wedding; lovely views over the golf course and interior is very nice. The food was fantastic, but the drinks were rather pricey though!

Great hotel friendly professional staff, good value for extremely high surroundings and services, only issue we had was the mirror in the bathroom wasn't heated and the mirror for the wife to apply her makeup wasn't lit simple issues that can be resolved. Other than that loved our stay… shower amazing could have stayed in all day… highly recommend this hotel.

I went to the Dirty Dancing Tribute night on 16th March and it was beyond disappointing! Hotel looks amazing but fails largely on the finishing touches. Wall paper peeling from wall in the room, no water or water glasses, no fridge to put your own water in. The walls are really thin and in turn it’s very noisy. The food at lunch time from the salad bar was really lovely. However, The food as part of the Tribute experience was inedible: dry chicken that was difficult to swallow and over cooked veg that failed to deliver on taste and appearance. When the act finally started it was nothing short of a let down. Breakfast was just as disappointing with tinned mushrooms, overcooked sausages, cheap sauces, cheap brown bread, the list goes on and when I asked for poached eggs they were served cold and undercooked. Also had no morning papers. Checking in and out times meant we were also unable to use the facilities. Certainly not worth the £135 per person.

Beautiful place in lovely countryside. Some amazing facilities with an ever increasing complex of buildings. There is something for everyone with a very large restaurant, sports bar, coffee shop and entertainment ballroom. The spa is beautiful and although I did not visit the gym the brochure shows a well kitted out gym and pool.

Love staying here and have many times the atmosphere and setting is beautiful. Dinner lovely and facilities very good however breakfast isn't great at all. Very disappointing.

This is a great venue. Spacious, lots of parking and great accommodation. A great location for events like weddings and conferences. Ample parking and as an added bonus, Tesla Superchargers are in the process of being built!

Attended a conference here. The restaurant and bars feature the most bizarre, eclectic and kitsch decorations, coloured LED, giant pictures, transformer robots, deer antlers lamps, champagne bottled surrounded by fake diamonds. Avoid the coffee which is just instant coffee served in an expensive machine. There is a single real ale, that was good and a very modest selection of well known lagers. If staying for more than one day, for an catered event, be sure you like eating Sunday Roast Carvery every day. If vegetarian, be prepared to see annoyed faces and get some microwaved dish. Disappointing.

Went for the midweek carvery with a group of friends. Venue and food were excellent. Choice of roast turkey, Gaming or beef plus more veg than you normally see. All beautifully cooked. Two of my friends had the veggie option and said that was delicious too.

Food was mediocre; cold and tasteless. Supervisor was quite happy to argue about what we had ordered even though we had the email confirmation. Disco was aimed at the younger audience even though the clientele was definitely of the older persuasion. Not our best Christmas do (although 6th in a row) possibly our last.

We came here for a wedding 2016 and decided it was so gorgeous that we booked it for a weekend break for our 20th wedding anniversary. Very nice hotel with quirky decor in places. Food in the sports bar was very good and reasonably prices. Food in the main restaurant was also very good but a little more expensive. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to visit the champagne bar but will definitely be going back at some point so will get a chance then. Staff, food and drinks very good and the hotel was very clean.

I would definitely recommend this hotel. The fitness centre with swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi and gym provide an excellent break after a day's work. Food in both restaurants was lovely, with wide selection of choices. Room very pleasant although my partner felt it was very noisy.

Stayed as an overnight guest on business, excellent hotel, lovely surroundings, comfortable room, fantastic gym with a great selection of equipment and workout areas, nice atmosphere. Fabulous pool and spa area, well presented and kept. Service in leisure centre excellent. Service in hotel ok. Starbucks on site. Breakfast ok but could be better quality food. Would not only stay again but would bring others with me. Perfect for a mini break, well done.

Stay was somewhat hindered by the bar staff not giving me a receipt for my drinks and meal. As someone staying on business this was fairly essential which none of the staff seemed to understand. Asked several people a number of times for a receipt but never got one. One chap said he'd get it printed and sent to my room — didn't happen. On check out I raised this again and the lady took my email address and said she'd email it over and guess what. She didn't. Lovely place but staff are either clueless or just don't care about the customers. Not sure which.

Excellent golf course with some stunning holes, although a little wet, following heavy rain, owing to clay soil. Hotel and food were good but not special. No real ale for the two evenings we were there, having run out.

The hotel is one of the best I've stayed in. The staff were friendly and courteous. The breakfast was great, the carvery cannot be complained about. The sports bar was good and the food was OK in there. It looses a star because the windows and walls were too thin and it was annoying to listen to drunken people yabbering on at all hours, especially on the weekends. The room cleaning services were a little lax as well at times.

No doubt Old Thorns is an amazing place for a range of hospitality services that one may need from time to time. We visited Old Thorns last Sunday (17/09/2017) to exhibit our wedding suits in a wedding show organized by PMN Wedding Fayres; and were immediately impressed by the sheer size and character of this venue. First impressions aside, the inside of the hotel was a as great as the outside look. Classic wooden floor, classic furniture, and wide space welcomes you pleasantly and before you start to become more inquisitive about the history of this place a modern twist of today's life style face you with a big smile — Starbucks coffee! Yes absolutely! they have their own Starbucks coffee shop… As the wedding show was super super busy and we saw many many customers that day, we couldn't explore this amazing place thoroughly, so will go there again to have some chill time. Great!

Signage to particular rooms could have been better but the event was so well setup. Sensing most of this was by an events company but it made me fall even more in love with this venue. Definitely on the golfing 'to do' list!

Great golf course. Restaurant is a bit odd — think wine list from fine dining meets toby carvery. Rooms are small and a bit out of date but comfy enough. Lots on the ground floor. No air con in rooms. Service was very good and would go back.

A great hotel with welcoming staff. Just stayed overnight enjoyed the afternoon tea and the evening carvery was very good. The gym looked really well equipped and having played the course before it's a real challenge. The only down side was the spa. The it was okay and but we expected more.

Played a round of golf at Old Thorns in September 2017. Lovely course and bar and food readily available. I would recommend use of a buggy as its very hilly. Some of the tee off points are visually stunning.

We had our wedding here at Old Thorns Sunday 27th August and it was the most perfect day. The sun was beaming down on us, our family and friends were all together, and the hotel and staff were fantastic! We really felt like every member of staff couldn't have been more helpful and kind. We wanted to give Tiffany and Kyle a special mention as they both went above and beyond to make the day magical. Before the day Tiffany would answer my questions and worries straight away to put me at ease. On the weekend of my wedding we had Kyle looking after us. He was incredible throughout and clearly knows how to do his job well. He was always around when we needed him and everyone commented on how great he was! If you are thinking of having your wedding day here we couldn't recommend enough!

A lovely place sent in a picturesque surrounding. Very high standards of services available. It more of an events venue than a casual trip out.

We had a number of rooms booked for a family wedding (around 10 in total). Despite this staff were unhelpful and inflexible with our requests, and there was large queues for breakfast due to a very full hotel and inadequate facilities. Overall for the price (which was significant) I would not recommend staying here.

We visited Old Thorns for a golf weekend with two rounds, one on Saturday and one on Sunday, with dinner, breakfast and a nights stay. Our first round tee time was at 2pm and we were unfortunately caught behind some slow play leaving a long round ahead. Once finished we had a great carvery dinner and had fun drinking in the sports bar and champagne lounge. Great drink selection and the staff in all these areas were kind and helpful. The rooms were great with everything we needed. All very clean and tidy. The second round of golf was earlier and we got round very quickly. The course was in great condition, other than the greens, which were going under their annual maintenace, so understandably a bit slow and bobbly.

I can honestly say one of the best Golf courses! have ever played! But that may just have been because I beat my younger brother "Stephen Chipp" I 2 games out of 2! 'm just putting his name her to shame him. Unlucky Steve! The ladies in our lives were booked in to the spa and we were reliably informed that the spa was "lovely" Hotel was great, food was very good and the service from the staff was professional but also with a bit of personality so it didn't feel too stuffy! The package we booked was for only a quick break and my only complaint is that we didn't have enough time there! Really great work guys and we will definitely be back again after my brother has finished licking his wounds!

I had a really nice Sunday carvery in the King's Restaurant with my family. Usually with carverys some if the vegetables are good and others not so good. At Old Thorns everything tasted great!

We attended a wedding fair at Old Thorns so we didn't really interact with the staff or have much to do with the venue, we were there just to see the exhibitors (we weren't interested in the venue as we already have one booked) the venue however appeared really well kept and the rooms were stunning.

Wedding fair was busy, and really interesting. Lots of great exhibitors. We stayed for lunch in the bar, which was superb — highly recommend the steak ciabbata!

We hired a function room for the day and the service and facilities couldn't have been better. Being able to move to the carvery for lunch was superb. We try and use the Old Thorns as often as possible for our functions. All the staff are superb.

Stay here frequently with work, and it's one of the best in the area for a reasonable price. Decent pool, two restaurants, rooms are fresh, nothing to criticise!

We are currently sitting in the restaurant — dinner was so small it was laughable. Waitress came up and said big pudding would be ours — that was half an hour ago! Restaurant not busy — God help them when it gets busy! No one come to see if we Want pudding! Really not impressed! And still stupidly sitting here waiting… Wine has gone waters gone they could have sold us more wine had they asked or even a pudding. Tempted to go to room and eat biscuits! Went to room and ate biscuits in end and drank coffee on room! Had loads of work to do — not happy, doesn't deserve any stars !
