Great view from our room. The food in the bar was so delicious. Friendly helpful staff and very clean.

Lovely afternoon spent eating a delicious lunch and drinks, with friendly service. Very cost and relaxed atmosphere.

Lovely interior and pretty, large garden although a bit marred by the white if the extractor fan/air con unit. Lovely serving staff, and the food turned up in good time. However my partner’s pie wasn’t what he ordered — roasted veg and cheddar. He questioned it and the waiter was great but said that the chef had said it was correct and that the lumps were cheddar but they were obvs smoked tofu. They replaced it with another veggie dish, which was very good. The bread and butter pudding was good as was the ice cream mess. It’s quite pricey but the surroundings are lovely.

Fantastic location and very welcoming staff. The room was fine, we were out and about the majority of the time, dinner, all three courses were delicious. We’d definitely recommend eating here. Breakfast wasn’t great tbh but overall we’d come again if there was something else visit in the local area. A special thank you to Harry, what a star, great host, fabulous recommendations from the wine menu, absolutely charming. You made our weekend! Anne & Claire room 8.

The staff are not very friendly I pre ordered our food as there was 12 of us plus 3 toddler's. And when the mains come out there only 11. When asking where were the other lamb cutlets I was told they have run out, they would go to the butchers and get more but it would be at least 40 minutes. At that point I said no thanks. But as I have pre paid for the food, they didn't offer any money back and said I have given me a few drinks for free. Haven't been in since.

Currently in room 1, paid £125 for a quiet break and it sounds like a heard of elephants are upstairs banging. One of the noisiest rooms we have stayed in. Not what we expected and very dissapointed.

Have just popped into the Abbey Hotel for lunch after a tour around Battle Abbey and what a find, a beautiful pub, fantastic food and dog friendly. Couldn’t ask for more. 5 star rating from us Linda & Wayne Charlesworth.

Had our wedding reception here, the staff were friendly and laid out a lovely buffet for us.

Two visits within a week I think says it all, great pub lovely food, attentive but not in your face staff will be back again soon, cheers guys.

The beds very comfortable plenty of tea selection & coffees. Breakfast was amazing but the evening meal was not a success. Unable to cook a steak meal the evening we were there all had to be returned the rest of the meal though was cooked well. A real shame as it put a damper on the party.

The rudest staff! After arriving to our pre booked table at 1 o’clock we ordered our food as soon as we arrived, after waiting about 20 minutes we asked if we could have a small bit of bread for my 9 month old nephew as he was getting restless and hungry. Time went by and after an hour of waiting we asked if our food would take much longer, never have we been spoken to so rudely! The waitress told us very sarcastically that it was busy and 4 o’clock would’ve been a better time! We decided at this point it would be best to leave as the service was so horrific and this girl was so so rude. I really wouldn’t recommend this restaurant! There are so many better restaurants with polite staff and good service in battle.

Fabulous location and right across the street from the Abbey. No Great little hotel to stay at. Very friendly and hospitable staff. Meals were fine and they booked you in for breakfast at a time you specified. Would definitely stay there again. Had a great outdoor area to use. Note that there is no parking but the town (you have to pay a daily rate and free overnight) car park is 5min walk away.

A computer problem mixed with a misogynist and racist button has made a companion spend one of the worst days of her life. I never come back.

On the menu there is the boast: "Best Ploughman's in Sussex" and at £12.95 it should be; to be fair it was pretty good which a choice of three cheeses or two and a pork pie or two and some ham/pate. The quality of the food and the taste was magnificant. The service was not necessarily with a smile but perhaps the young chap serving was having an off-day. The interior was nice, with almost private booths, but we sat out in the lovely courtyard garden at the back. Do not be put off by the prices, this place is worth it and has many nice touches throughout.

Great food and the beer garden is a beautiful place to spend an afternoon.

Very slow service last Saturday. After a wait of 45 minutes after ordering the daily special our cottage pies arrived. Mine was cold in the centre & I sent it back to be heated adequately. It came back & still not hot. I sent it back again. This is simply poor & no apology from the manager. Very expensive. £47 for 2 cottage pies, 1 small lager & 3 small glasses of merlot.
We won’t be back.

Impromptu stay for 3 nights and what a lucky choice. Great location in a lovely village. Right in front of the abbey. Very clean place with a nice feel. Staff were excellent and talkative and the food was fantastic. Happy to stay here again. Can't say more than that.

Amazing place! We stayed there for our anniversary in a super cosy room. Beautiful garden and the food is so good. The staff are really friendly and chatty. Definitely recommend and 100% coming back here.

Ranting is unhelpful, so bullet points it is; 1: It's very grubby, 2: It's not a deli and it's not a pub and it's not a restaurant. 3: The beer is awful. 4: The attitude (maybe it's my lived in face) was dismissive. 5: It's hilariously expensive, £7.95 for a soup starter? That's a mugging, not a menu item. 6: The management are in denial, see responses to critics on Tripadvisor.

We ate lunch before heading for the abbey. The lunch was traditional but excellently prepared. Everyone of our group of 10 was satisfied. We did not have to wait too long considering the variety of dishes we ordered. Nice setting to in the back yard. We really enjoyed ourselves!

Very good food and service.

Accommodation: You're paying (£££) for the location. The rooms (room2) was tiny and the bathroom compact, the double bed was a small double. It looked recently updated which was good and it was very clean. But the drain in the shower was on the go slow which meant we had to stop showering every few minutes to avoid a flood! The breakfast choices were good, but the tables were too small. It was noisy, traffic and other rooms, so you have to decide what you want location or something else. Is it boutique? Not in my book. Oh and the free parking seemed to consist of advice on how to park free in the main town car park up the road, which was not straight forwards. Loved Battle.

New Zealand great experience nice decor lovely staff owner came over chatting so friendly we had the ploughmans lunch had many over the years this was the best ever will recommend it to everyone and they had n z sav wine on the menu thanks for an enjoyable Battle experience.

Great atmosphere and choice of beers.

Lovely place to have a good meal and a nice drink. Good selection of brews and service is excellent. Always good to have a good meal, drinks and just walk upstairs to your room.

An absolutely delightful hotel in the heart of Battle. Very comfortable beds in well decorated bedrooms. The owners Jo and Derek are so warm/friendly and nothing is too much trouble, all the staff we meet over the week were also very friendly. Fantastic food which is well presented and all locally sourced produce. Highly recommend this hotel as a perfect base to explore Battle and the 1066 countryside, museums & coast.

The Abbey Inn serves excellent meat from the local butcher. Worth the trip for a good steak.
