Had great week at hotel. Excellent location. Hotel bit dated very clean and maid service everyday with clean towels. Food basic but good and plenty of choice and good portions. They had an excellent sun terrace overlooking the sea front. This is in need of makeover a bit grubby and would benefit from umbrellas snd pots of plants. Also terrace shuts at 6pm. I would return.

It’s certainly not what I would call a luxury experience, but it does the job. Pros: Best location — you honestly will not find a hotel in Brighton with a better location than this. It’s literally across the road from the pier. If you get the seafront view room, the view is great. Bed was comfortable and we slept well. Staff was helpful and professional. Cons: Very dated decor. Room was too warm (air con was not working). No free Wi-Fi in the rooms (which normally wouldn’t be a big deal, but it so happens that 4G in Brighton is not very good).

The reason it's so cheap is because they have a 10am checkout and you're charged £15 an hour for late checkout. Comfortable stay but wouldn't reccommend staying there if you're planning a night out. Might also be given a room with no windows.

The whole experience was grim. When we arrived we were told that the hotel was overbooked and we could not get the rooms we had booked. Instead the double was changed to a twin room and the single to an appalling room with no light or ventilation and a frosted window onto the air conditioning plant that was so noisy my friend could not sleep and left the hotel at 6am! The bed was uncomfortable, the staff unhelpful and unsympathetic to our frustrations, the decor tatty and there was no hot water! The single room (Number 151) was an absolute outrage, they should not offer that room as habitable accommodation, especially not at the same rate as other rooms.

What a dive! Stayed in room 219. Our view was an air conditioning unit covered in pigeons and poo right outside our window, making noise ALL NIGHT! Hard as nails bed. Didn't sleep a wink all night. Badly filled walls, holes in walls, ripped chair, they can't even be bothered to hang the curtains properly, kettle that only works if you hold it down… what can I say but don't stay there, sleep in your car, you will have a much better night!

I will say it is good value and does still have some of its original features and the staff were very helpful and friendly service. My room had a window but no view. It was a very hot day but the AC was not worth having on, so had to have the window open, as a result we could hear the machinery in the atrium. Didn't have a great nights sleep although the bed was fine. I am happy to give this hotel another chance. It's across the road from the pier and Sealife Centre. Not a bad place.

A very good and attentive treatment on the part of the workers. The rooms were nothing out of the ordinary. Good finalice quality-price.

Very good stay, very good staff although the rooms are a bit dated and the beds on the springs. Very very good food despite the price shame I recommend it.

Absolutely disgusting. First room was so bad I had to complain about bodily fluids on the bed sheets. They tried to tell me they could change bed sheets and I refused they're offer. After being told hotel was fully booked I demanded my money back. Suddenly they found an available room. It looked better and after stripping bed. All seemed well untill the morning. Ceiling was almost falling down in bathroom. Myself and husband wok up covered in bed bug bites. And the 2 extra pillows were stained with what I think was vomit. I have photo's of everything. You are welcome to request the photos. Absolutely disgusting. Will be seeing a solicitor if I don't get my money back AND compensation. First room 306. Second room 252. Staff very rude.

The only reason this place even gets a star is because of the beautiful sea view. We simply popped in for a drink and bite to eat and the food was terrible. Frozen fish and chips in a place right by the sea?! I now understand why payment was requested before our food was served, bevauae we certainly would not have paid if we knew what we were getting. This hotel/restaurant is in an incredible location with an incredible view and could truly be something wonderful if anyone cared about it.

Schmutlich, noisy, the windows not cleaned forever, lighting partly works. Price is too high.

So disgusting room! Charged us £140 for a night. I have booked upper floor room and when we arrive we got in the basement! So dirty hotel and rooms. Would not recommend to anyone. Sign no smoking but all room stinks cigaretes. The worst hotel ever seen.

Very good value. Pleasant staff. Bedroom with sea view. Entertainment each evening in lounge. We went with a coach party.

The worst treatment and customer service! large groups – do not book we had booked a 17 twin rooms to stay at the royal albion hotel, brighton– part of britannia hotels. The rooms were booked for the first weekend in March This was the weekend of the severe weather (THE WORST SINCE 1982! ) and unfortunately all flights in and out of the UK were cancelled. We gave the Hotel notice in advance that our booking may be affected due to the snow and storms. However, despite a status red weather warning and a shutdown of all airports …The hotel have refused to refund us our money. The hotel has not shown one bit of decency for the situation and are withholding €4000 illegally. I spoke to the manager of the Hotel, Nick, and explained that the cancellation was out of our hands but they still refuse to refund and showed no sympathy, offering 10%. We could understand if we cancelled but given the severe weather and shut down of airports we expected a large chain like BRITANNIA HOTELS to be understanding of these circumstances. We told the management that we would accept a 50% refund but they have refused completely. We are in the process of pursuing legal action to retrieve our money but NOTE TO ALL LARGE GROUPS — DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL! We assumed a large chain such as BRITANNIA HOTELS would treat their customers honestly and fairly but WE COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG!

Great location and price. Have stayed several times and usually ok (but basic). Staff not overally friendly or helpful at times. On most recent stay the room was very hot even though it was cold outside and gulls were very noisy sat on the ledge by my window. Usually clean apart from some dust and minor issues. Would recommend for the price.

Fab location, right on. Promenade, opposite Brighton pier. Hotel needs a refurb, although clean, our floor and room smelt of smoke. The beer on tap was expensive and very flat.

This hotel has a superb location! And that's it. The hotel is really outdated. Needs refurbishment. Rooms aren't so clean. I've stayed here alil more than 2 weeks. It was comfortable but the all the interior needs to be renewed!

The hotel's location could not be better. But, the establishment is tired and the lift a joke. It has only a single memory list and going up appears only to stop at a floor if it is the first entry. The rooms are not cleaned daily. The room cost is good for the area but not for the quality of the hotel.

Best "bang for buck" hotel in Brighton. Really friendly and competent staff. I would definitely recommend this to anyone traveling on a budget. And the location is unbeatable being right by the lanes, the beach and the pier.

I think I took a step back in time when we visited the Royal Albion. The decor did feel very dated, I don't think the Google photos did that justice. Our first room was left in a poor state (hole in wall, light socket practically dangling off). Cant fault the staff, they were great in moving us and apologetic. The room was spread over two floors with alot of space, and much more modern than the lobby and corridors. I wouldn't choose to stay here again compared to some of the other hotels on the sea front, but it's good for a quick one night stop off.

Staying over Christmas and so far has been excellent. Rooms comfortable, food has been really good and very well organised. We'll done to the Royal Albion staff.

Service that could clearly be improved.

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in to date. My friend and I stayed in Royal Albion Hotel in August 2017. After checking in, we decided to have a short nap (only one hour, if that) during which time someone entered our room and decided to steal some of our belongings (we collectively lost items worth over £1, 500.00). For the past two months, I have tried to work with the hotel to recover some of these costs. They have, however, tried to merely state some kind of Act to limit their cost to £100.00 per person. One of the items stolen were my prescription glasses which cost nearly £300.00 and it was the only thing I asked to be replaced but the hotel, and its management, has shown time and time again how little they care for the safety of their guests. Just to make everyone aware, the hotel established that a key card held by a member of staff was used to enter the room during the time we were asleep so if you do decide to stay here, either do not take any valuables or make sure you do not sleep at all because in this day and time, we can no longer only fear pickpockets but also the staff in the hotel you are staying in. I am absolutely appalled by their behaviour and would never even stay in Royal Albion or any of the Britannia Hotels. Absolutely disgusting.

Welcome to the Hotel California. Very dated, unless you are in your 80's, in which case you'll feel at home. The rooms are a mile from reception involving going up stairs, down stairs, past Hogwarts-esque paintings in the hallways and endless floral patterned carpet. The room was pleasant enough with an actual box TV (the likes of which I haven't seen since 1996), the furniture was straight from the 70's. Amazing. The bar staff were professional and pleasant, though the decor and dated service style of the place did make you feel like you were staying at the Overlook Hotel. Personally wouldn't leave the room after midnight or stay on Halloween for fear of the walls bleeding or a couple of twins rocking up at the end of the corridor whilst I'm chilling out with my tricycle. We will be going back though for the sheer time warp experience. I've always wanted a tardis. Plus we have some unfinished business involving various pieces of paper.

Very tired and tatty in places. Breakfast was good. Evening meal was not. Limited choice and some if the staff were rude.

We (wife and daughter) stayed here for one night. Booked with a travel app and was told only basement rooms are available, and I couldn't cancelled without charges. Yet we saw them giving upper floor room for a few walk-ins later. Don't ever stay at basement rooms — it was noisy with foot steps, and the motor compressor nearby were going on and off the whole night. And the internet is only in 20 minutes chunk.

Lovely place in excellent location with friendly helpful staff… most of them anyway. The problem for me was that I had a small issue regarding the way payment was made by my wife which didn't tie in with their rules but instead of being professional the reception were very unhelpful and when I mentioned I can't see a way around and may need to cancel, I got told I'll be charged 1 night as a NO SHOW. Receptionists weren't bad people but I feel they need training more. Even if they only pretend to try and resolve your issue it's better than seeming not to care. Bar and night staff were lovely, aspecially Ahmed on nights. He was on top of all comings and goings but didn't make anyone feel uncomfortable. I talked to him for while and noticed if anyone did look uneasy about being approached he quickly and nicely explained why he needs to make sure they're a guest and how he likes to make sure drunk guests make it to the right room instead of disturbing others. I run a hotel not much smaller than this one and pick up on these things… Good overall, just a pity about my first interaction.

Hotel requires updating. Rooms shabby. Food adequate but no imagination in preparation or presentation. Sad to see a once fine hotel looking so neglected.

This hotel is crying for a renovation. It has a lot of potential and no doubt it must have been an old glory (back in the 60's). I wouldn't recommend their food. It's dreadful. Staff and the location might be the best thing they have. Rooms are old, poor and outdated. The bed is comfortable though.

Appalling do not book in fact run a mile if not 2. The staff are so far up there own arses they can see the back of there teeth. Rundown dirty smells of mold windows don't open heating not working. The worst place I have ever stayed and I stay at 80+ hotels a year for years. I have never felt so unwelcome ever. Spoken down to humiliated and not a care was given. Made to stand an hour and half just to book in. Put in a room with no view and moldy. Asked to get changed for breakfast as I wasn't dressed correctly embarrassing me in front of the entire restaurant and they served chips for breakfast? When I asked to move rooms none were avaliable yet the very next person asked the same question and was moved. Could not belive the double standards appalling service disgusting manners. Ultimately the worst let down ever.

This hotel has a good location. Excellent views. I could not take advantage of this as the windows were filthy. The hotel is outdated and require s refurb from top to bottom. First impressions. A large hostel. All walls filthy, scuffed. Carpets worn. The room although and spacious required attention, dust on lamps, Rikerty bed, mattress rock hard, furniture old damaged, gave an overall poor look. Bathroom mirror cracked covered with glue bath stained. No toilet brush ironing board with no cover. Tap water for kettle. Noise from other rooms Will not return not with £238 for two nights With no breakfast. Could not use lift in the morning due to cleaners going up and down the floors.

The hotel is adequate enough for a short stay, the rooms are slightly dated but we had a room with a balcony which was a huge plus. The location is perfect and the staff are great. I would recommend this for couples who do not want a romantic getaway but more of a party getaway.

Wifi just in the lobby (from 2nd floor it's just 20 min for free) 2. No fridge in the room. 3. Walls are too thin — noisy rooms. 4. Spiders nests in the room. 5. Old water system (hot water is separated from cold one).

Hotel in typical English style. Unfortunately the rooms more than in classic style, are just old! Those 4 centimeters of dust on purple curtains tell the cleanliness criteria of low-class hotels in the UK. The bathroom could be clean if you don't consider the rust and the yellow and black mold. The staff at the front desk is very rude. Maybe Nevrotizzato from the fact that the hotel doors are always open for everyone and there is always big crowds in the lobby… and only a small part of these are hotel guests. The staff in the rooms instead is nicer. Obviously it often happens to meet in the elevator or in the hallways people interested in figuring out if they can steal something… More than a Hotel is an adventurous jungle, I recommend it to people of great spirit.

Fabulous views, staff and food. I had fish and chips on the roof terrace. Wish I could stay longer!

Travelled with national holidays from Leeds driver richard, Dining room staff HEROES considering amount of coaches they had to deal with, food was good, my room cleaned every day. Nice lady seat 7b sat next to me on the coach called Janet from Barton north Lincolnshire she was with the couple sitting in front of me, the gentleman seat 6b was a sweetie had a secret thing about GAY men.

Great location bang in middle of everything. Resonable accomadation for short stay on a tight budget staff friendly reasonable standards considdering price you get what you pay for.

Budget hotel offering good value for money. Right opposite the pier — so some sea facing rooms can be a little noisy when windows are opened.

This Hotel is so bad that I almost the words are missing. The balcony was not allowed to enter because of the danger of inventory. From the window you could only see if it has opened. The Hotel is so winding, that after the emergency exits forever. The Breakfast I would rather not describe. If you are in Brighton to stay, wants/needs, you should take a wide arc around this Hotel make!

This hotel was disgusting. We arrived at half past ten, exhausted from our long journey, to discover that there was no hotel car park, and we had to travel 10 minutes to find another, costing £25 each night, plus taxi fees. When we finally got to the reception the hotel staff were rude and unhelpful, and I heard one receptionist swear. The room was small and dark, and although a no smoking room, it smelt like smoke. The furniture was mismatch and broken, the TV and A/C didnt work, and there was only two plug sockets. The beds were okay but the duvet was thin. The breakfast the next morning was salty and unpleasant. So happy to be home.

The hotel was dirty bed uncomfortable no Hot water. The window wouldnt open. There was a tear in the duvet cover. Not happy with the hotel and I wouldnt recommend to any one. Please do not stay there.

Worst hotel ever smelt like someone was growing weed room had no air conditioning and window did not open TV not working whoever rated this as a 3 star is an idiot booked for 3 nights checked out after the first night no refunds the staff were rude don't get me started on the furniture it's like someone went to the junk yard and picked up the furniture.

Very affordable booking the night before. Room a bit dark but good size bath and bed, fairly comfortable, good amount of space. Definitely not luxurious but for the price how can it be! Completely acceptable.

Had 2 nights at the albion, and was very happy, the room was big, facilities in decent shape, beds comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful, especially at the bar. There was some building work going on whilst we were there but noise was kept to a minimum. Hotel location is excellent. Would definitely stay here again.

Given nice twin room for single occupancy, bathroom could do with updating, Give this another year and things will be greatly improved. Renovations already ongoing. Staff did superb job on last night when after a gas leak, we had to have a cold buffet. Very good location.

First room too small, smelly, health and safety issues, filthy windows with cobwebs, window did open but had a roof view. Second room light, but unable to open windows and only 2 sockets.

Room lovely, bit noisy, but overlookin the road. But on the whole had a good nites sleep and. Hve booked another three. Would reccommend.

Most vile experience — Room was filthy, unclean and filled with the past occupants litter — empty beer cans and dirty socks — absolutely rotten to say the least. Staff rude, unhelpful and miserable. Do not stay here.

|t was worest experience in my life. The price is too high for this hotel (200£ for tow nights) and it is not a hotel at all it is hostel for my opinion. The noise of every move from ather rooms. Smell in the room is disgusting even the open window did not help. The curpet in the room was dirty, dust was every were, tawels was dirty. The duble bead is small like a lite bit bigger than single. Tv in the room are soo old like a hotel. The air condishener is not working in the room was very hot When you are walking in the coridor yu can hear and feel how floor is moving. It is the worst hotel I ever been. For this price you can find much beter place for. Stay. The staff is not friendly at all. I can not give this hotel 3 star like it was shown in Web site I can give this hotel the name of the hostel but not the 3 star hotel. I would like to put minus 10 stars if it will posibol.

Basement room with not a ray of daylight, no air, air vent pumped what smelt like cigarette smoke, I was served fish which contained A PIECE OF BROKEN GLASS in it which I found after chewing on it (could have sued for that). Think a very tired, shabby Blackpool and you've got the picture. This place sucks hard.

Just spent 4nghts there and I found the staff unhelpful rude room with no windows able to open despite asking for 3days the food was disgusting and had to eat out despite paying for half board would not stop here ever again.

To be honest it was just what I expected. Location wise its very convenient for the beach / pier. Parking is a major problem though. Staff were the usual eastern europeans, but were helpful and competent. It's was obviously once a very grand building, but is now pretty shabby although the room was acceptable and seemed reasonably clean. £170 for one night was a bit steep though.

Not amazing, but not bad either. Room fine, Jacuzzi bath! Well located, staff friendly, food not so good. A good stay and would come again.

I booked this hotel for a valentines treat that turned into a nightmare! Upon arriving at the hotel we were given keys and told to find the room. The first thing I noticed walking up the stairs were the towels plugging various window leaks. The room was probably the height of fashion, 30 years ago. Everything in it was broken or marked or chipped, from the bath to the carpet cut around the bed. The room shook constantly (my guess is because of the air con in the room below). The floor was more than a little squeeky. The cover over the bottom of the bed smelt dirty. Breakfast was fine if you liked cold toast, milk and orange juice with a skin over it and meat that tasted cheap. Upon complaining to the staff they didn't really seem to care and wouldn't help me at all. So much for the £170+ we paid for the two night stay. It's not worth a fraction of the price. Not even the central location makes up for the horror of a stay we had. Two nights no sleep, a room that constantly vibrated and a ruined valentines day. don't go there.

Before 4 weeks to 6 in this hotel and we had 3 rooms.
Much promise the images our room was dirty and the defective part in the bathroom
the room of two others had a window in a dirty courtyard which was about 2 square meters the air conditioning was broken and it expected and this still we continued it in the third room decided to be as little as possible in the room and enjoyed the wonderful surrounding.
in this hotel you could with little effort many guests do good.

It is a hotel of magnificent architecture that has known better times. Although the rooms are spacious and clean, throughout the hotel a (metaphorically speaking) atmosphere rancid. The image that is removed from the photographs does not correspond with the experience of staying there.
The facilities are regular. The breakfast is good. The location and views are good.
The weekends come several youth groups in search of the typical British binge that will stop you more sleep. It is easy to find them pulled in the aisles if you raise you early Saturday.
