The booking process was extremely straightforward and very informative. Fast forward to the day, and as soon as we walked through the door we were met with very helpful staff who directed us to the hotel reception (since we had to enter through an alternative entrance due to renovations). The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful, he explained everything to us and asked how our trip to the hotel was. After checking in, we proceeded to our room which was on the sixth floor. As soon as I entered the room door, I immediately felt as though I had immersed myself in luxury, notwithstanding that we booked the cheapest room. Everything was clean, and whilst a fridge would have been nice, the elegant and impressive furniture certainly made up for this. The bed itself was very very comfortable, and I was able to sleep throughout the night — which is a rarity! In addition to the excellent hotel experience, I would also fully recommend the Victoria Bar where they do incredibly good cocktails and the bar staff's impressive skills match their charisma. Overall, I would not hesitate to come back to this hotel in the future; I have stayed at one or two luxury hotels, and I do have to say that this Hotel is on par.

Considered to be the foremost hotel in Brighton but now grown old and it shows. Scaffolding covers part of the frontage. Our bedroom very spacious and comfortable. We ate dinner, breakfast and lunch. All were excellent but the wait between courses was extraordinary. At lunch after waiting nearly one and a half hours to get to our main course we contemplated walking out. Staff were mostly young and attentive. With adequate investment this establishment could become grand again.

Very disappointing compared to its alleged high quality reputation and therefore our expectation. Despite being in the process of being redecorated on the outside the inside was somewhat tired to the point of being quite shabby in places. Furniture well worn and tatty as were the carpets. Stair banisters sticky to the touch and in need of a good clean and polish as were the insides of the lifts where copious finger marks were visible on all surfaces. Our bathroom was very old fashioned with poor showering facilities and well below the standard expected from a modern first class hotel. Staff generally pleasant enough. Breakfast on the other hand was excellent although I was surprised the prunes weren't pitted! Overall it was OK for the discounted price we paid but if I were asked to pay the full room rate as advertised I would have been extremely unhappy and would probably have refused to have done so. Compared to an average London mid range Hotel, 'The Grand' is now a long way behind and no longer so 'Grand' at all.

Had afternoon tea. The cool interior of the lobby was a welcome relief from the summer heat and the ambience was relaxed and charming. Marble columns and fine furniture gave it the air of exclusivity. Once shown to the brightly lit tea room with sea views we were seated immediately. Very comfortable chairs, cutlery was clean, service was prompt and first rate with smiling and attentive personnel. Selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes was very good, with a particular mention for the excellent salmon sandwich and small chocolate cake. I had a cappuccino which was tasty and hot to go with the food. Everyone I was with found the surroundings to be very pleasant and all the staff, from the doorman and the others milling about, to our severs, we're friendly and professional. I would recommend the high tea experience at the Grand Hotel.

The hotel itself is amazing, and has recently undergone a full refurbishment, returning it to its former splendour. They gave us an upgrade to a suite for my birthday which was incredible. Food is excellent. The staff are always friendly, helpful and attentive. From the cheery greeting from the doorman right through every member of staff you encounter, you are made to feel like a very special guest. This is our favourite hotel in the UK and we wish we could take it with us wherever we go!

The name is no mistake. Grand inside and outside. I've stopped in the Grand a number of times when in Brighton the staff are outstanding the food is the quality you would expect. If you like a drink or two at the bar take your credit card, you may say small price to pay for your surroundings.

Great service, rooms and breakfast. Attended for a corporate 2 day event which worked really well; plenty of large rooms with good seating and tables, and great food to keep us all going. Lovely location too. 10 minute walk (downhill) from the station, or get one of the many taxis available. There's also a small gym with treadmills, free weights up to and beyond 20kg, as well as a good multi gym and bench. Would recommend and go again!

This or second visit to The Grand. The first visit we had a great time and obviously expected the same this time. Our stay started off as expected, although when it came to later in the evening it changed somewhat. There was an event being held downstairs that we were not informed about upon arrival. Being on the first floor we could hear the music from it very clearly. When calling reception we were told that the event went on until 1am. To be fair to the hotel they apologized and did everything they could to make us as happy as possible. They moved us to a higher floor because of another function going on the next night. Apart from this our stay has been great.

Stayed overnight due to the excellent promotion they have on due to the scaffolding covering the entire front. Yet the room was pretty bare — comedy creaking floorboards and was stone cold (with chilly weather). Radiator was turned off, but we were unaware so had to call up reception — who provided us with a heater! Staff absolutely great — informal yet very professional. Breakfast ok — needed poached eggs and hash browns, and soy milk options. Beautiful lobby and bar areas.

Elegant Hotel A few steps from the sea, visited for the final dinner of a conference. The food was nothing special, the service OK.

Sunday lunch was superb but we were rather disappointed that there was no hot food available on our return at 10pm from the X Factor Live event at the Brighton Centre next door. Obliging staff however arranged for sandwiches to be provided from the room service menu and served in the lounge with our drinks.

Quite expensive but worth it. Next to the seaside with the lovely view at the sea from the restaurant. Having breakfast every morning with this view makes your day a lot better. Rooms are clean with very helpful staff. Highly recommended.

One of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at. We had a huge room on the 6th floor with a great bathroom. The in-room toiletries were of very high quality. Lobby and bar are beautiful too. Breakfast consisted of a massive selection of items including some delicious fresh fruit, coffee was also really good. All the staff we interacted with were happy and helpful. Looking forward to staying here again.

Stayed here for a weekend birthday trip where the hotel was hired out for us and all party guests. Fantastic facilities available to hand with a great team that is very attentive, professional and courteous. Extremely helpful during our stay. Large banqueting area that was transformed on both days to two different themes. Short turnaround time yet still delivered a fantastic experience to the 1000+ guests in attendance.

Just a short break as was seeing war horse at the centre. Room was lovely, bed was huge… breakfast was varied and something for everyone… from black pudding to flax seed. All staff were happy and hard working. We will be going back.

We stayed at this hotel for one night. The hotel is well situated on the seafront and close to central Brighton. Inside, the hotel is indeed grand and walking in you get a real sense of luxury. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming, the breakfast is great, the room was comfortable and well equipped and the concierge facility is a real bonus. The reason for 3 stars is that there was a wedding on the night we stayed with loud music playing until around 1 in the morning which combined with the continual flashing light on the ceiling made it very difficult to sleep. The shower was also broken and only had one temperature of 'too hot'. These are things that would normally not bother us too much but considering the cost to stay at this hotel, we expected more.

Very nice hotel with an outdated and very warm charm. Amazing Cuisine in the restaurant, very lively bar and excellent cocktails, very nice spa, chambered, friendly staff, small care. A wonderful Time.

We had our work Christmas party here for ~300 people, with a black tie sit down meal and entertainment. As usual, the staff were attentive and professional, serving up nice food to the tables in good time. The venue was clean and well presented. A great venue for a large Christmas party, with plenty of space for the stage and dance floor. Drinks were moderately priced, £7.50 for cocktails and £23 for the cheapest bottle of wine.

Disappointing Christmas party evening. Have been before and enjoyed it. This year, no photographer, no big tree, hardly any decorations. Food was nice, but very very small portions. Our pudding order was incorrect. DJ was still setting up when we arrived. Just seemed to be cutting corners, and costs! Real shame : — (

It's a beautiful hotel and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Had a mix up with a birthday surprise I wanted for the room, hence only 4 stars instead of 5. The breakfast is absolutely fantastic, everything you could want. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Good but not Grand! Like many others I found the staff to be very helpful and polite. The hotel is also ideally located for the seafront, shopping and entertainment. However like others I felt the quality and finish of the interior didnt match the price tag. Whilst I found the bed to be really comfortable there were little things wrong like broken door handle and missing tap insert. In general the decor etc just looked bit tired in places, maybe they intend to do this after exterior work has finished? Breakfast was well catered for with high quality ingredients, although restocking of buffet was sometimes slow. I also agree about noise from heating fan which didnt bother us but might some people. I would say try it but I would look to stay somewhere else more for comparison.

Very nice façade, entrance hall beautiful, but disappointed by the room 212 which is small and not up to the height of this 5 star hotel.
Breakfast is very nice but think about booking a table near the bay window.

The hotel foyer is well presented and quite impressive. The staff are all well turned out and very professional while being hospitable at the same time. Its a classy venue for an evening out. Didn't eat but the bar was good and I'd be happy to go back.

It's a bit old but very good hotel with really big rooms. The room where I stayed was sea facing but unfortunately windows were covered due to some refurbishment work. The food was good too. I recommend it.

Attended here for a business awards event in October 2017. Staff pleasant and helpful. I appreciate cooking for several hundred people is quite complicated but was very good. The lamb I ate was tender. The veggie option was good too. Plates were hot, a good indicator as to the attention given by the chef's and kitchen staff. Big improvement on two years ago. Well done. Beautiful hotel on the inside, great staff but refurb on the outside meant there was no view and builders started banging at 8am outside my window. Would recommend checking the work is finished before staying there. Amazing buffet breakfast.

Absolutely fantastic service! Arrived very late around 23:30. Car was taken off to be parked which is so much less hassle. The room was out of this world we stay in a lot of hotels and this room was the best by far. Room facilities included sky in both bedroom and lounge, surround sound bars, small gym downstairs in room, huge bathroom with huge shower, separate toilet which is great for his and hers toilets. Room service was fast though had no prosecco so Moët was only option (first world problems). Bed was very comfortable and room was impeccably presented as is the rest of the hotel immaculately clean. Would without doubt use this as the go to hotel in Brighton!

We had our wedding here and we have stayed here 3 times! We have also had many afternoon teas at The Grand! We love this hotel! The staff are amazing and friendly and have always made us feel special! I always recommend the hotel to friends and family that come to visit us in Brighton. I have never experienced such a high level of service in my life. The staff are amazing and the waiters etc are fantastic. Friends have said to avoid the bar due to the cost… but this is so untrue… very competitive prices and the service just cannot be beaten. I can't wait to return! Amazing place… oh and the cocktails taste better here than anywhere in Brighton.

Service was excellent. Went for tea with my parents. The waitress was very quick to notice us and was very helpful. We were seated in the bar area. The bar was extremely noisy and not very calming at all however the sofas were lovely. I wished we had been offered to move someone quieter.

Beautiful rooms, friendly staff, amazing sea view. Lots to do within walking distance, will definitely come again.

The staff at the hotel could not have been better, they were attentive and friendly. However, when it came to the room I definitely expected more for what I paid. As a surprise trip for my boyfriend's birthday I wanted everything to be perfect but unfortunately, we were not given bathrobes, there was a handbag left in the wardrobe, there was a hair on the toilet seat and the light flickered in the bathroom. Other than these factors the room was very homey. I definitely suggest that you try out the Spa. My partner and I both had a massage each which was amazing. The ladies who saw to us were very welcoming and made us feel very relaxed.

What a wonderful place to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary. The room was deluxe with an incredibly comfortable bed; views were breathtaking (yes, the sun was shining) and can't fault customer service and the high quality food. Perfect location, wonderful hotel, perfect service — nothing to complain.

We stayed here last year for the new years party. What a terrible experience. Firstly they are letting the building deteriorate and was not good. The room we were in which was a sea front view was dark and noisy. The breakfast was awful, no better than a b&b. The manger Jason when I complained was not interested and was very condescending. We stayed in the Grand before it was taken over by the new owners and it was a completely different hotel. This is not a 5* hotel.
