We stayed here for 1 night this weekend and was disappointed with the lack of parking. We stayed in room number 6, it was clean and tidy and had most of what you needed. The biggest downfall was the room next to us number 5. From what we could make out we don't think they had a toilet in their room as we could hear them going to the toilet (toilet next to our room). Door was continuously banging and the guys that were in there were talking loud late in the evening with their friends opposite and even woke us up at 4.30 in the morning! No consideration for others at all. Would not stay here again, more for younger/students.

Awful! … Possibly the worst night sleep I have ever experienced. Booked the room as it was cheap and I needed one short notice. Firstly, car parking was an absolute nightmare. We paid £5 for a car space only to find that there isn't any. If you do park on the premises, be warned as other guests may block you in (as we found out in the morning). Work up early to go to a meeting and found the car blocked in. Had to ring the 'house keeper' who told US that WE had to wake the other guests up to find out who was the owner of the vehicle and ask them to move it. She was no help at all. The room was basic standard with NO curtain on the window, light broken and a large gap in the door. I stayed in room number 4 which, luckily, had an ensuite. Unfortunelty some of the other rooms did not have this facility and had to walk along the hall past our room to use the toilet. This was very annoying as people were walking past our room many times in the night waking us up. The walls in the rooms are ridiculously thin and when ever the toilet was flushed the room would begin to smell. Guests are supposed to arrive before 10:30PM, however another guest (in the room next door) arrived around midnight and decided to watch the TV for around 3 hours (which I could hear every word) despite the fact, the 'RULE MANUAL' states that noise needs to be kept to a minimum from 9PM — 7PM. If this wasn't bad enough, the guest decided to boil the kettle 4 continual times at around 4AM.

Good communication regarding how to get your room key from the key safe. Room big, quiet and bed comfortable. Once we had read the 3 pages of rules, we were surprised not to have found a bin in the bathroom. If you do not want guests to put sanitary products etc in the toilet, it is not pleasant to put such items in the bin in the bedroom. Toilet seat very uncomfortable and plastic on a lovely proper toilet base. Bathroom not as clean as it could have been. Very disappointed to have found a well equipped kitchen as far as crockery etc was concerned but no point having it if most of the electrical appliances are not working. No fridge, which would have been useful to put in breakfast items such as butter and milk. Good job the toaster worked. Notice to say dishwasher not in use and cooker also not in use. Sent email when I realised on reading through the whole booking, that parking needed to be paid for and reserved. I emailed en route as we had just returned from holiday to enquire whether we could park at the property but never had a reply. Luckily we found on road parking further down from the property.

Stayed one night in family room. Very expensive for the run down look of a house. There was a note saying the Oven and cooker did not work, so how were we supposed to cook? Also, no vent in the downstairs toilet. Upstairs shower and toilet could do with a good renovation. Not value for money and would never stay there again. Also, someone was knocking for at least 15 minutes constantly on the front door in the evening.

I was very surprised. Very clean and has a very homely feeling! I would stay there again anytime.

Very nice spot. Even if the bathroom is not up to date. It is very clean and we feel comfortable.

We stayed one night at 786 Newport road. We found it really clean and tidy and met our requirements for the night. 'However' we found the beds really uncomfortable, the room smelt, the room was really cold and the shower was temperamental.

The photos showing the guesthouse bedrooms and bathroom/toilet online do NOT actually reflect reality. Now we understand why the price was so cheap. I would rather have known this beforehand… My husband and I had to be in Cardiff for an early meeting on Newport Road from Oxford so we thought to drive up night before to be rested for it. After looking at the photos of the guest house and reading some of the reviews we thought it would be fine — even pleasant! After re-reading many of the positive reviews we have come to the conclusion — now that we have been and gone — that we are either living on another planet or people have gone mad! We would rather have slept in our car frankly. The carpets were stained and looked frightening. The bedroom doors looked like they belonged in a halfway house rather than a guesthouse. The shared toilet (something we did not expect) was TINY, with a sink about the size of a small soup tureen! To get hot water there is a strange contraption. And all this for an entire floor of rooms to share! On the website there's a picture of a bedroom with a lovely white ensuite…!?! And the chemical smell in our room was nearly unbearable — carpet glue perhaps, strong detergent? How was one supposed to fill the kettle in the room? Walls PAPER THIN. Loud male voices at all hours in the hall outside our room and outside window. Every sound made anywhere in building clearly heard.

Wow! Well I have stayed in many places but this has to be the prettiest so far, apart from a flimsy headboard issue and the downstairs loo making a puddle, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, would recommend and want to come back! Xx.

Stayed here with a group of friends Saturday night, and absolutely loved it. As soon as we walked into the house we were pleasantly surprised with how beautiful it was. The house was very warm clean and welcoming, with beautiful features.
Would definitely recommend and would 100% stay here again.

This place is fantastic! Such good value for money! With the price I paid I was not expecting much at all but this is a lovely, spacious house. It is very clean and our room and bathroom were perfect. I was very impressed and would definitely use this place again and highly recommend it.

The room was clean and tidy, the bathroom was very clean. The place was very handy for the town and was able to the leave the car with confidence. we were greeted by Sue and found her to be very helpful. The fact we were messaged on our way down with the instructions on how to find the key and let ourselves in. the instructions in the room were clear and helpful. the only downside was not having the availability to cook at the premises and having to go out and eat.

Had a lovely time at this place for the short time I stayed. Very friendly welcoming housekeeper who explained things to me well and made me feel welcome. Very clean room with TV and Wi-Fi, comfortable soft bed and nice garden view, as well as a big bathroom including bath and shower. It's also located next to several shops, if you need to do any last minute type general shopping it's well placed.

Nice room to sleep, big bath and toilet spacious room. So far im happy with our stay:) comfortable but theres only one thing i've notice, the fitted sheet looks like it hasn't been change because theres a mark of lipstic extra pillow but no pillow cases and not enough hangers as well, atleast 4 hangers. If we need to stay again for 1 or 2 night in cardiff were definitely coming back!
