Review of Crieff Hydro 4*

Very mixed feelings about our experience here yesterday. I visited with my mum, sister and daughter so bring her to see Santa and the reindeer. Whilst the place was looking very festive, the organisation of the kids activities could have been better. There was no signage anywhere to tell you where to go so I had to ask multiple people where to check in for the reindeer experience, and still wasn’t any further forwards. The reindeer were lovely, although in the advertisement stated there would be a walk around with the reindeer which there wasn’t as they are both pregnant. Basically we paid £10 to hear some facts about reindeer which we couldn’t really go anywhere near. The production around the Santa’s grotto was fab, the little one loved it. The elves and Santa were very good, funny and entertaining and I definitely felt this was good value for money. What upset me about this experience though was that nowhere was it stated that only two adults could do in per child, this really should have been stated online when booking to avoid confusion. The lady organising all this was very curt and rude with us when we questioned this and outright lied to my mum when we saw other families were allowed a 3rd adult in. Not impressed with the service received from this lady at all. The restaurant/cafe was disappointing. I had expected more of the eating options to be open as the website doesn’t state that this was the only one that would be open. The choices were very limited and staff were unable to clarify wether sandwiches had certain allergens in them which even further limited our options. I couldn’t eat the wrap I opted for, all you could taste was extremely strong Parmesan. All in all, we had a pleasant day, however the organisation of the event, information provided online and terrible attitudes of staff in the restaurant, Santa’s grotto and gift shop definitely need work. We had said how nice it would be to book a lodge here for a week but after the service received yesterday, I think we will think twice about this.
