Great Sunday roast. Friendly staff.

Had a lovely meal, well worth a visit, but do book as it was very busy.

We've just had a lovely 2 night stay.
Our room was very comfortable and clean in fact impressed how clean everywhere was.
You have a great team working for you, very friendly and nothing to much trouble.
We really enjoyed our breakfasts and evening meals and the portions were huge!
Great base for exploring the area.

Had a fantastic meal, great food, great service, can’t go wrong.

Went for some food I ordered chicken supreme and what I got was a small chicken breast a small portion of mash 2 carrots and a splash of “gravy” never have I had gravy with chicken supreme. It wouldn’t have filled my 6 year old. It definitely was not chicken supreme. However the hubby got scampi and really enjoyed it.

Food was delicious and great varied menu. Staff were helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend!

Just had Sunday Dinner Takeaway and it was amazing. The portion sizes were huge, the meat was tender and lovely home cooked Yorkshire’s and Roasties. Very reasonable priced, couldn’t recommend enough.

Very good friendly hotel. Short walking distance to the town centre and gardens. Own restaurant is a great bonus. Lovely evening meal and breakfast. Specious car park. Would recommend to anyone without hesitation.

In spite of arriving towards the end of the time for food they fitted in a party of 5 and then served up one of the best meals I've had in a pub. Helpings were huge and the quality was excellent and the staff were very friendly and gave no sign of wanting to hurry us up. Highly recommended.

The carvery is a pleasant environment for all ages with good food and service and reasonabley priced.

We had a good enough time but for a Friday evening it was remarkably quiet. The Hobgoblin was not to my liking so had Guinness which could also have been better. However, the food was good and plentiful and the staff most affable. We're going back this evening to see if it's better on a Saturday evening.

Lovely staff and a good selection of drinks on offer at this friendly pub. Our party was seated in a lovely newly redecorated side room which was cosy and quiet with direct access to the outside seating for fresh air. The menu has an excellent range to choose from at competitive prices and with a real northern flavour. Definitely worth a look.

Popped in on way back from Craster. Staff really friendly and very accommodating. Menu was varied something for everyone. Burgers huge and steak and ale pie delicious. Loved the way the carvery is run. Where the chef requests you to come when there is no queue to stand in. Very well organised. Meat tender and tasteful. A good variety of veg. Yorkshire pudding enormous! First time here, will return here without a doubt!

Up to Alnwick to meet family (one of the hotel's chefs) and was very pleased with everything! Service, rooms and food! Would happily stay again!

Called in for Sunday lunch on the way home from alnmouth. The standard of the food was exellent! a good selection of meats beautifully cooked comprehensive selection of seasonal vegetables and a Giant Yorkshire pudding! A home cooked feel with helpful & pleasant staff.

Got stuck in Alnwick at a wedding at the tree house in the snow. Staff here made us feel very welcome and looked after us well. Lovely rooms, good food and great service.

Meals are always excellent value with very pleasant service.

Unusual accommodation in little outbuildings, just to the right of the pub. Clean and reasonably spacious, the rooms are on suite, clean and comfortable. TV a bit small and dated, kettle on its last legs too, but just managed to produce a cup of tea. Was worried that accommodation was so close to the busy, and noisy bar, however, we could barely hear anything once the doors were closed. Lovely little town too with Barter Books a must visit destination.

Clean room, friendly service. The place is quiet even though it borders 2 roads, and only 10min walk from the centre.

Friendly welcome with a range of beers on tap, often sone local. Lovely menu with something for everyone. Reasonably priced, for a premium pub.

My wife and I and another couple stayed the night and had dinner as well. Cozy rooms that were well-appointed, and reasonable cost. The included breakfast was great as well — lots of choices from traditional Northumberland to Continental. The restaurant had good food and service, with a pretty wide selection, and a great atmosphere. We would definitely stay again when visiting Alnwick.

Nice hotel. Nothing special. Loud at night with traffic.

Rooms were nice but half the water was coming out the back of the shower head unless you took it off the stand and tilted towards the floor. Also their was no in-between of scalding hot and ice cold. I also slipped and almost lost some teeth as there was no traction when trying to carefully lower myself and get out of the tub. So bring some shower shoes.

Pleasant stay in good location close to castle and gardens. Stay was spoiled by the fact that a silver coin that was gifted to my partner on our anniversary was left behind in error. We realised and contacted The Oaks who assured us they had located the item and would post the coin to us two months later and the item has still not been returned despite two emails to The Oaks extremely disappointed this was a sentimental item and won't now be returning to stay here in future.

Really friendly staff. I had the delicious salmon with seafood risotto. Can't recommend enough. It was delicious.

Food was average at best. Prices were very high considering food quality. OK in a pinch I guess.

An excellent restaurant. The chips were delicious and homemade. The tower beefburger was superb and their was a nice choice of ales. The venue really helped us celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary. Thanks.

I stayed here for the weekend for a wedding. Lovely little place with everything we needed, had dinner here when we first arrived which was delicious, great breakfast each morning and the bed was huge and very comfortable, I already miss that linen! I also took the keys home by mistake which they were very nice about, just posted them back to the hotel so sorry about that. Highly recommended stay!

Secluded terrace is a Sun trap.

Had a Sunday lunch there it was fantastic, good portion sizes, and reasonably priced too, will be going back soon.

My boyfriend and myself came from Edinburgh last Sunday and stayed at this hotel. From the minute we opened the door the greeting was fantastic, the room fantastic, food fantastic, drinks and wine fantastic, all staff fantastic, atmosphere fantastic, setting fantastic we just loved it. I had had a small operation so it was a wee last min trip away from hussle bussle teenagers in edinburgh for a night peace and dinner in quiet surrounds. We will be back, we usually stay at The White Swan when in Alnwick but we much prefer The Oak Hotel, I cant wait to return and last point I certainly would not class it 2 star more like 3.5 star. Excellent hotel with good food, attentive staff and genuine hospitality. The owner also kindly helped arrange our golf trip. All in all a great place to stay. If I had a criticism it would be that our room although quite comfortable, will probably need to be spruced up a little before too long.
