A fabulous place to stay in the heart of the wonderful Cairngorms landscape. The hotel has a very informal and friendly atmosphere. The integral Birdwatching and Wildlife Club facilitates great opportunities for watching the amazing variety of wildlife in the area.

One of my favourite hotels because of its history and atmosphere. May not suit everyone, has been simpathetcally, modernised, however if you last entered the reception in the 50s, it would look much the same today. Staff all great, as was the food.

The hotel's reputation fits the hotel's atmosphere. Not too big not too small. The rooms were fine. The food was also good. Only the city is too small. In 25min everything has expired.

Lovely Sunday lunch. All of the staff were very attentive.

Ate dinner here, highly regretted it. For some reason all the other places we wanted to eat in Grantown are closed today. This 'restaurant' doesn't own a single herb or spice. Incredibly bland food, I don't know how anyone in the kitchen could consider themselves a chef. I cooked better food when I was 12 years old. Seriously, may have been the worst food and service I've ever paid for. Better to just go to the fish a chips place down the road than go here.

This hotel is one of the "old school"establishments and so much the better for it. It is warm and friendly and very much on the wave-length of the more mature generation. It is very comfortable and the staff go the extra mile to ensure things stay that way. The menu for evening dinner is changed every day and is "proper" food which is beautifully cooked and nicely presented. Lots to be said for the old ways of doing things properly.

Great staff, very comfortable rooms, good food. All set in the most beautiful location. Seventh heaven for bird and wildlife watchers in the heart of osprey country.

We did not stay at the hotel, only visited for high tea. We pulled into Grantown on Spey from Inverness with a dead cell phone and two hungry/cranky children. We drove to the Grant Arms hotel because it was in town square and we were looking for open restaurants. Sadly, everything was closed as it was 3:30 — that odd time between lunch and dinner — — so we walked into the hotel for restrooms and to see if they had a restaurant that was open. They did. It's a lovely older hotel, I can see where it does need some minor updating, but it was quite clean and well laid out. The lobby is impressive and the bar area, which was the only thing open (not the actual restaurant) was quite nice. The attendant was nice but was not a local girl, which I find odd, so she had no idea where we were trying to go (Dulnain Bridge) or how to get there. The bar attendant was fairly local and gave some good basic directions. Overall, the staff were pleasant if vaguely unsatisfactory for our purposes… We had tea, which consisted of lovely finger sandwiches of local roast beed (divine) with horseradish, ham and cheese, salmon and cream cheese, and egg salad. They were excellent (excepting the ham which we did not eat, but I'm sure was lovely). The cakes were delectable and consisted of a mixture of lemon curd tarts, brownies, and small cookies. I hoped for jammy dodgers, but no such luck.

We arrived a tad late from Northern Ireland but were welcomed by David and the staff and our dinner was ready when we were. This is a warm and welcoming hotel geared for birders like us and if you like jigsaws, knock yourself out! Brilliant evening talk by Ian Perks kept us in chat for hours. Only recommended for older nature lovers. The focus is clearly on birdwatchers of set age. The hotel has nothing modern or loving. Everything seems quite stiff.

I have made very bad experiences with the service, room clean and OK.

Very old worldly bit you are welcome whether casual dress or formal. Staff excellent.

Popped in here for a coffee break on a cold snowy day having already walked around the village. The surroundings were comfortable and the large cafe bar was empty but very cosy. The staff member who served us was extremely friendly and took time out to have a conversation with us. All coffees were priced at £2:50 including a 3-4 cup cafetiere which was excellent value. A pleasant experience which I hope to repeat when in the vicinity again anytime in the future.

We actually got fed here very polite lovely very welcoming not sure about food yet bit will post further if disappointed.

Always get a good welcome whether you are in for a meal or just a coffee! Lovely staff.

Hotel is in the town centre. Very nice staff and good food.

Lovely old hotel strategically sited right in the centre of Grantown. Decor and furnishings/fittings are very traditional but actually new. Great conference venue with a relaxing ambience but would be just as good for a pleasant weekend or holiday. Excellent food and an awesome choice of malt whiskies in the bar. The staff are friendly and helpful and the hotel is spotlessly clean.

Lovely building, lovely staff. Only went in for the loo though!

My wife and I really enjoyed our two night stay at the Grant Arms and look forward to returning. Service was efficient and friendly, with speedy Wi-Fi broadband an added bonus. The food was great too and clearly a sincere effort is made to keep things fresh and local. The wild life club facilities and information cascade to guests was very impressive, and lends the hotel a pleasant atmosphere of buzz and activity.

Horrible beds, no WLAN in the room, towels not changed when on floor after three uses, warm beer, waitress picked up the plate of my friends wife without asking while she was still eating. Literally threw it back after she complained about it and slammed the door behind herself. Ok, she might have had a bad day and the other personal was friendly, but that's a no go and there was no apology by the management. Never ever.

For a such a nice looking place they got it all wrong. Offers on website were wrong so no 2 meals fo 12.99, menu was wrong and had mistakes on but didn't bother telling you until the food arrived so no onion rings or mushrooms on the plate. I complained about it so the guy apologised and said he would correct it, just to find out he added it to the bill at the end. Venison was dry and over cooked. Scratched this one off the list.

We love the atmosphere here, and all the tips about what wildlife are around from the BWWC. We just wish the food was more inspiring for vegetarians.

Very nice.
The only drawback that I not give 5 stars is that it has no elevator.
