Not my kind of place — old fashioned rooms, run down hotel. Not some where I would be back at by choice. Lots of room for improvement.

Came today for afternoon tea. Absolutely delicious. Nothing was too much bother. Lovely surroundings and great service. 10/10 Highly recommended. Thank you.

My husband and I spent the night there on a Saturday. The food was fabulous, the staff were so friendly and helpful very chatty and made us feel very welcome. Would highly recommend.

Spent one night at Moffat House Hotel the last week of August 2018. It was clean but a bit dated. It would have been nice to have a refigerator in the room. The nights were getting a little cooler and the heater did not work, but they did give us another plug-in one and an extra blanket.

My son and his new wife had their wedding here. What a great day. Thanks to Paul and all of the staff. Very welcoming, helpful and attentive. Thanks also to chef for the amazing food. Everyone made it a very special day.

Thoroughly recommended. Comfy large rooms and comfy beds. Quiet. Super food in their restaurant.

Excellent hotel staff can't do enough for you I travelled with my wife and 3 dogs and nothing was to much trouble for the staff they r so dog friendly and can't wait to go back.

Really nice hotel. Staff were all friendly and helpful. On checking in we were upgraded to a bigger room as best westerm members. Very dog friendly — they prepared a table for breakfast for us and our dog in the bar and bought our dog a freshly cooked sausage in a bowel especially for her! The sausage went down well.

This hotel is in a pretty little town just a couple of minutes from the main road heading north. Dogs are made very welcome and the staff are absolutely delightful. Very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Good food. Great service and very good value for money. We had a huge room with 4 poster bed, dinner and a splendid breakfast there! Lovely walks nearby along the river.

A great hotel, full of character with helpful friendly staff. Food in the bar / lounge is more relaxed and just as good as food in the restaurant Would definitely stay again, good value for money and a convenient location when travelling north towards Glasgow.

An amazing place full of friendly & helpfull staff. Our room was fantastic with everything that we needed. Food & drinks were extremely well priced & were cooked & presented to a very high standard. We will be back.

We stopped off in Moffat on the way home from our holidays and struggled to find a dog friendly cafe that was open, but came across The Best Western Hotel and they allowed dogs on the lounge bar! From the greeting at reception to the service in the bar and everything between we couldn't fault the place. The lovely lady serving was so polite and friendly, the food was excellent and to be honest it was way more pleasant to be sat in a nice relaxed hotel than a tiny busy cafe. So glad we stopped off, so much so we are thinking of booking a break there next!

Lovely place and quiet also. Staff very happy to help and great food. 4 stars only I hear you say. Well I could not see a disabled toilet.

Nice friendly staff, rooms are clean although a little basic. As an animal friendly establishment your expectations are naturally lower as a trade off. All in all a nice hotel.

This hotel and its staff are amazing. Could not recommend it/them enough. We had our wedding here recently and I honestly couldn’t not have wished for a more amazing day. Largely thanks to the organisation of the wedding planner, Paul and the team of staff involved. They could not have been more helpful. We will definitely be returning here, especially for the food. Proper dishes and proper sized portions! Rooms were lovely. The building is very clean and well kept. 5 star review without hesitation.

Stayed one night to attend a wedding. Staff friendly and welcoming. We stayed in room 18. Nicely furnished and spotless clean and well stock with tea and coffee. Any member of staff we saw always greeted you. The hotel is in then centre of town so great to pop to the Moffat Toffee Shop which is amazing.

Excellent rooms, excellent breakfast, excellent staff, excellent experience all round. Was great to be able to bring the dog to stay with us too! 5star.

Lovely hotel in a great little town. Staff are welcoming and helpful; the restaurant meals are varied and would suit almost all tastes. Bedrooms are clean but sparsely furnished. That said the hotel offers excellent value for money.

Another tired hotel in need of modernization. Beds are comfortable, the larger rooms aren't very warm but otherwise average. Staff and food are the best bits about this hotel.

First superior room we had had noisy water tank above so we were moved, but shower in second superior or premium room was weak, not very hot and took AGES to even get to that. So not terrible, but not quite what we hoped for. We'd not 'not go back', but neither will we be trying to head back. But full marks to the staff… although being told any kind of tea other than regular tea would be charged for was a surprise… and turned out not to be correct and so my wife was able to have green tea :-)

My husband and I were in Moffat for the World Gold Panning Championships 2017 and stayed for over a week at the Best Western Moffat House Hotel. The hotel is conveniently located in the middle of town. The room we stayed in was spacious, comfortable and quiet. The staff were amazing and went out of their way to make sure that we had everything we needed! If we are ever in Moffat again we would definitely stay at the Best Western Moffat House hotel!

Love this place… great service great food… the rooms are comfortable and warm.

Asked for the soup of the day was not told it was a fish soup had I known would not have ordered it fortunately I do not have a fish allergy just don't like fish and no one thought to ask why it was returned untouched (Tho did enjoy the main course steak pie) apart from that found the staff to be friendly and polite and the view from the dinning area was lovely.

We were looking for lunch in Moffat and we ended up here. Mainly because there is lots of parking and it's a nice building. Not too shabby, as the English say We had soup and ice cream. Nae bad, as the Scottish say.

I am travelling solo on motorcycle, they don't have secure parking but they have a carpark set back off high Street with Cctv. Single room is as expected reasonable prices however breakfast is extra. The view from the room is overlooking a beautiful garden which is a lovely touch. Bar area is nice with selection of beers and wine and has a restaurant. Staff are really friendly and helpful.

Great rooms bit bad when kids tea comes and it is bigger than ur own staved pissed off not happy.

Stayed from 27th to 29th October 2014. Not enough staff on duty. Sat ages at booking in while staff were on telephones or walking about. Not told there was no lift in building, had 2 flights of stairs to climb to room with case, put us on top floor, (husband has visible walking disability). When we left, the painter and decorator who was working on the staircase (and having to move his dust sheets as guests were using the stairs during the day) carried case down to car for us. Left sitting ages while staff wandered about and had to go and ask for someone to take order for breakfast. Room clean but basic, not like any of the pictures. Breakfast very nice when actually served, however staff cleaned away continental/cereals/juice/tea/coffee etc before everyone had finished in dining room, left sitting still eating without being able to replenish drinks etc. Was given impression that they needed everyone out so they could tidy up. Would not stay there again.

Friendly hotel, decent rooms, good staging post heading north.
