Fabulous place to stay, fabulous food, the owner his wife and family could not do more for you had a really great weekend.

Our wedding at Machermore Castle on New Years eve 2019 was an excellent experience from start to finish for all of our friends and family.
Our hosts Colin and Emily done us proud through out the whole day and evening, along with friendly, accommodating staff.
The wedding breakfast was excellent and plenty of it and a good Scottish breakfast in the morning that set us all up for New Year’s Day.
The castle is situated adjacent the river Cree for some of the best salmon fishing in the area. The castle itself is still under renovation in the upper floors of the castle, so look forward to visiting in the future. The ballroom, lounge and the stunning stare-case and the stunning stain glass window is a beautiful backdrop for wedding photos.
The Perfect venue for wedding’s and accommodation all in one, gave the wedding a more relaxed feeling.

My Family and I spent an enjoyable week at this magnificent Castle. From daily walks along the surrounding river, clay shooting, well stocked bar to hours of fun on the lawns with the kids. We travelled a far distance which was well worth it. Highly recommended!

On holiday to visit scotland. Stayed at the castle to go and see the dark skies concept in the local area. Place was amazing. Comfortable stay. Clean and warm. Great host, very friendly and helpful.

Stayed here for the night when attending a Christening in the local area. Have stayed in other places in Newton Stewart and this was a lot better than other places I have stayed. Travelled with my wife and 2yr old and best bit was having a lot of space, peace and quiet and the ability to explore the grounds around the castle. Accommodation was basic, but importantly clean and as described. Would recommend if you’re looking for a quiet break in this area, great value for money.

Booked this accommodation as I was travelling at an unsociable hour to Northern Ireland on the ferry and didn’t fancy the 8 hour drive straight there and the price was great. I always read the reviews that others leave and was aware that people had issues with directions to the place so made sure I had them printed and had no problems finding the car park and rooms even at night. Accommodation was clean, bed comfortable, great shower and appears to be recently refurbished. Ideal stop of point for my journey, will book again.

Great price and relaxing location. I brought my wife and young son here for a weekend stay and will definitely be back! We saw a few negative reviews so we're hesitant at first, but a close friend had actually been there so we went anyway. We enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and hiking was superb. Sleeping late everyday in the cozy rooms as well, made me not want to get up! A must try if in the area.

Very deceiving! You stay in a side unit on the end of the castle, so you don’t actually go inside the castle. No TV There is kettle, little coffee, tea and sugar jars The garden is very peaceful, we sat for hours in the sun sat on the bench, listening to birds and watching the birds and rabbits. There is a river but you can’t get to it.

We had our youngest daughters wedding at Machermore castle yesterday, what an amazing place, was STUNNING, the whole day went so smooth from start to finish,
Colin and Emily and all the staff were fantastic and nothing was a bother to them from the moment we went through the door, till we all left they made it such a special day for us, would highly recommend this venue it is beautiful xxx.

An absolutely fantastic place to visit. Immaculately clean bedrooms and all freshly painted. The bed was soooooo comfortable and the castle and grounds are a truly beautiful place to be. If you want calm and relaxing, this is the place to go. I didn't want to leave.

The apartment was basic but of a good size and value. There was a mix up with another guest given our apartment which led to us spending quite some time in the apartment with the other guests items around the apartment.

Supposed to be attending a wedding at this so called best wedding venue. Venue had to be changed due to rooms never going to be ready on time, they were still being built. Other things promised and not delivered on. Owner quite rude when questioned about things not being ready.
