We used this pub about 2 years ago and had the most wonderful food. The chef was a genius. And the menue amazing so couldn't wait to try it again as we are back up here for a holiday again so decided to use it today for lunch
omg the menu was really poor… and the food was not good at all the gammon was nearly raw and rely salty the chips were not much better again very salty and not cooked. The salad on my plate did not look fresh and vegetarian bugger was cold and looked dreadful we were gutted as. The bar man was rely nice and helpful. And its dog friendly pub which is always winner in my eyes so if all you want is a drink then it's a as for food. I'd try somewhere else.

Just had a wonderful, tasty meal cooked by Gino. Will definitely be back.

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. High standard of food. Would recommend stopping here when passing for food or just a quick drink.

Brilliant meal here, high end restaurant quality at pub prices! Really excellent choices on every course, and a nice selection of beers and ciders Togo with them. Friendly service.

Staying and dining at The First and Last was one of my favourite memories from our London to Edinburgh adventure. The food was great, the rooms are big and comfortable (not fancy, but just fine), and the hospitality was first rate. Thanks to Justin and team for a truly bonnie welcome to Scotland!

As the pub is close by the harbour it has a lot of fishing boat memorabilia, they have some interesting items dotted around. On the walls are a lot of old pictures of times long gone by of the harbour, old characters looking down off the walls. Bar staff are very nice and welcoming, greeting with a smile. I missed last orders at 9pm although I was allowed to eat my take away meal in the bar and was provided with cutlery, excellent! Breakfast was great, typical Scottish. Rolling hills and sea views. Right next to the A1 although traffic wasn't a problem. Would recommend staying here and will book another room when in the area next.

Excellent food — A party of 5 couldn't find a single fault in any plate of food. The staff were friendly and very down to earth — attended to any of our requests or questions. The only fault I could find was that some mains were put of stock, leading to a few disappointed customers, however we were not personally affected. The prices are rather high, around 10-12 pounds for a main and 6-7 for a starter. However the quality of food warrants these prices. The best pub I have tried in the Berwick/Borders area.

My sister and I stayed here in February. Loved every moment! Food is delicious (we had breakfast and dinner), staff is friendly and so helpful — we enjoyed a peaceful night in the pub (some of the locals showed us the proper way to drink whisky) and then a good rest in our clean and comfy room. Thank you First & Last Pub! We’ll be back.

I stayed here for a week long project in Coldingham and absolutely loved The First and Last. The room was comfortable and had everything I needed. The Wi-Fi was a little spotty, but I worked around it. Justin is a fabulous chef, and I looked eagerly forward to my cooked breakfast each morning. The locals that frequent the pub in the evening are kind and warm-welcoming. I happened to be there for a pub-quiz night, and it was great fun. The seasonal menu has a variety of options and all are prepared exquisitely. I cannot recommend this place enough.

I've been walking the Berwickshire coastal path between St Abbs and Burnmouth. This is the only place I've found selling cask ale ale and the quality is top notch.

Pub is very cosy with staff really friendly. Food is delicious. I had the huge Fish and chips which was gorgeous and my partner had the steak pie which was equally given the thumbs up. We stayed in the b & b accommodation number 1, and where very pleasantly surprised how big the room was and modern inside. Very clean and everything we needed.

Warm and welcoming reception and stay. Accommodation spacious for the two of us and our dog who was also welcome to eat with us in the bar. Good wholesome food for dinner and breakfast prepared by Justin. We look forward to another stay.

So just called into the first and last to see what it is like and it's one of the best meals that we have had. We are both foodies and were completely blown away by how good the food is and the price.

Nice pub to have a farewell drink and meal in before leaving Scotland or a welcome back if coming from the other direction.

Stopped off on the way to Edinburgh and wasn't disappointed very friendly staff and welcoming. Ordered steak and was 1 of the best av had will definitely come back worth the drive up from Newcastle.

Nice place, friendly staff and lovely food. Stayed overnight in one of the rooms which had plenty of space and nice comfy beds but the walls are thin so you can hear other guests and passing cars easily. Pub and hotel is well lit and signposted just off the A1 so easily accessible and has good on site parking.

Pleasantly surprised! Meals are amazing! A bit intimidating when you first walk in with all the locals eyeing you up and down. But are friendly once you smile and say hello.

Didn't see many good places to stop off and have lunch between Edinburgh and Newcastle. This is the first place that caught my eye and my insticts were right. I enjoyed a tasty meal and a coffee before setting out on the road again. Conveniently located right beside the A1.

Lovely hotel, large warm rooms and brilliant choice for evening meals. I recommend the steak pie. Very welcoming hosts. Would definitely stay again. Right near the A1 too.

Got married & stayed in b&b which is separate to main pub, they made our day & stay special, truly memorable and wouldn't have changed a thing.

We are lucky to now call this lovely cosy pub our local! Staff are friendly and welcoming. Well worth a visit…

Absolutely stunning wee place! Very reasonable, gorgeous decor, staff are amazing very welcoming and the rooms are incredible. Food is absolutely firat class too. We will definitely be back — loved it!

Super food cosey and friendly place prawns highly recomended cant fault it in any way its a definate must only thing wrong was no steak knives but thats not even worth giving a lower rate if I could give this place more than 5 stars I would.

We came in on our way back from Edinburgh hoping to find one last piece of beautiful Scottish food… We were not disappointed. From the friendly greeting to the expertly crafted dish prepared by the chef, I can honestly give this place a 5 out of 5. Simply amazing food.
