Have nothing to complain about. Hostel is in an old building, right in the city center. But everything's clean and the bed was ok for a hostel. Really friendly staff.

Our group of four had such an amazing time here! The staff was incredible and the group outing to do some ceilidh dancing was certainly a highlight! Highly recommend for backpackers!

They easily accommodated us arriving late in Edinburgh. Great breakfast! Comfy beds and great location! Thank you 😊

I had an amazing stay at RMB. They are located in the middle of The Royal Mile, meaning most hotspots are really close, but there are also many places to eat or go shopping right in the area. I stayed in one of the female dorms (with 10 beds in it), after 22:00 it is expected that you are quiet in the bedrooms and the hallways which was much appreciated. In the room I stayed in I could enjoy the music from the pub two doors down, but the music stops at about midnight I think. I can definitely recommend RMB as the staff and location are incredibly great! Thanks for the amazing time guys!

In the beautiful city of Edinburgh, the stay at the RMB hostel made it an extremely pleasant experience. Convenient location, well maintained rooms, wonderful, helpful staff members deserve 5 stars.

THANKS FOR EVERYTHING Thanks for the welcome thanks for everything. We had a really good time and the reception really assisted us in everything. The very nice environment located in the center of the city with a kitchen always open with the possibility of being able to drink hot drinks for free. Very youthful environment and with many very very courteous people. I highly recommend it to all young people who are looking for a central hostel in the city and who for those who have no experience can find very valid support in this hostel. Back here after 9 years and not much has changed, and that's for the better. Awesome small hostel in the heart of Edinburgh, cozy and clean, very nice staff as it was back then. Love the fire place at the entrance for the cold days.

Best location, nice atmosphere & you get discounts from some local pubs/restaurants. The staff make a point of it to keep things quiet after 10PM, which I respect tremendously. Big ups to the team!

Amazing hostility. Very friendly. I arrived at 7am, though my check in was at 2pm, I was given an opportunity to use the bathroom and get fresh. I even stored my bag in the store room and used the kitchen. Rooms are very clean and the location is excellent. I will recommend this to everyone. You even get detailed information of the tours and places to visit in and around Edinburgh. Restaurants are very close by and are in walkable distance. Lockers and charging points are available next to bed.

Really friendly staff, comfortable enough beds, clean enough facilities. The location and price are unmatched. It is a hostel, not a hotel, so it isn’t luxurious but as far as hostels go it exceeded expectations. I would highly recommend if you’re looking to visit Scotland on a budget.

Well pretty fantastic in every possible way. We only spent two nights there so here's what I can say. Price is reasonable (70 pounds for two beds and two nights, friday and saturday, mid-june). Location is just PERFECT. Right in the middle of the Royal Mile, just next to Cockburn Street. Like a one minute walk to St. Giles kirk, 3 minutes to Victoria Street, 5 to the Castle, also 5 to Waverley so the connection to the airport was so easy. The place is quiet in the nights and early morning. Breakfast is okay, for 2 pounds you get toast and spreads, juice, coffee and cereal. Staff is very friendly and so helpful… We asked for reccomendations for where to have dinner and we were soooo pleased with the place they told us to go. Beds are comfy enough and the bedding is pretty warm. Clean, clean, so very clean. Squeaky clean, really. Cons? Bathrooms are extremely tiny, just two showers at the girl's side, and lockers' locks don't seem to be of a very good quality. Best things? Incredible location, friendly staff, affordable, nicely decorated… Will probably repeat when we return to Scotland. Thank you so much guys!

Gray cozy little hostel right off if tiger royal mile. Everything was clean and the people that worked there are very accommodating. If you're looking for a good hostel I'd recommend this one!

Good hostel in very central location.

Highly recommended. Two pillows, dimmed lights at night in hallway, cheap towel hire, friendly and helpful staff and management. Great vibes and atmosphere. No kids or large groups!

Decent hostel with friendly staff. Good location on Royal Mile. Bed is not so comfortable. Locker is too small for your luggage / bag. It however comes with a secondary, valuables locker within — which is a nice concept. Powet sockets are on the opposite side of the bed, which to some extend makes them useless. No reception between 3AM to 6 30AM. Assistance however is provided by their sister hotel a minute walk away. Overall, an acceptable experience.

Very bad experience. The Fat girl (cause she said that she dont like the people) is so very stupid. She don't have respect for nothing. When She's going to clean the table in the kitchen, she dont said nothing, she takes the spray and she shoot my laptop and my phone. I'll say it in Spanish, clearer: it insults us, and kicked us out of Ayí because we put a movie on the laptop in the kitchen. We lack respect and kicks my suitcases. When he went to clean the kitchen, in other days ago, did not asked please or said anything, just to largaramos from there. Shoot with the cleaning spray on the laptop, the phone, my jacket. The other girl at reception, makes us shhhhh for that. We shut up all the time.
Very bad experience, we finally went to St. Christopher, 8 pounds per night in St. Christopher. Honestly, it makes me want to spit in the mouth of fat disgusting reception garbage.
And, as you said, she hates people.
What the hell is this aunt doing in a hostel in downtown Edinburgh?
He forced us to clean the dishes when he had not finished eating, constantly.

Rooms are nice and comfortable, been on "Gotham City" and "Hogwarts", its a good place the thing is its small and you cant really sit anywhere with people in it after 10pm lobby is small and kitchen too, the staff are nice and helpful.

Lovely hostel with friendly staff. I've stayed there twice and I'm looking forward to returning! They've got clean beds, decent bathrooms, a really nice breakfast buffet that only costs £2 and it's a five-minute walk from the station.

This was one of the best hostels we've ever stayed in. We stayed there almost two weeks and were never disappointed. The staff is very friendly, the atmosphere is cozy, and the location is perfect in the middle of the Royal Mile! 100% would recommend.

Great facilities — plugs, usb sockets, reading light & lockers etc for each bed. Free tea & coffee always lovely reasonable brekkie offered too.

The hostel has a great location in the heart on Edinburgh. Walkable to public transport and to the bus which takes you to the airport. The room was clean aswell as the bathroom and communal areas. But didn't have much a social aspect.

Very nice and clean hostel right in the city centre. The beds are comfortable but fairly short, the showers clean, the kitchen well equipped. I was welcomed by friendly staff and had a decent breakfast in the morning (£2). The train and coach stations and all tourist attractions are within walking distance.

Definitely the best Inn I've ever been a guest at. I met the woman of my life, a pure beauty, but she was already engaged. It was a memorable stay.

Excellent staff — one lady at the reception is really very polite and helpful — I am sorry I can't remember her name. Clean rooms, very central location, good prices, I certainly recommend it to any visitors!

Great hostel — the staff are helpful and friendly and the place is always clean. The kitchen is a great idea. In the rooms with 10 beds, it can be a bit noisy and busy.

Can’t say much about the hostel except that it‘s the best one we‘ve ever stayed in. We slept in a 8-bed-room and it was just as comfortable as a double room. Roommates were young an nice, hat good talks several times, in the room there are 2 chairs, a table, a big window with view to the royal mile and every bed has 2 socket plus 2 USB ports for charging your phone directly without a power adapter. Also the beds are not like usually in a hostel that both are shaking and making noises when turning around, the beds in this hostel are REAL beds! Everybody also has their own locker with key, £10 deposit. Showers and toilets were perfectly clean at any time of the day, there’s breakfast for £2 until 10:30, and the receptionists are very friendly, asking you how your day was etc. But the best thing is, every room is named after a movie und every bed is named after a character from that movie! I would say there is no better place to stay for that money in Edinburgh, so even tough Edinburgh is not the most exciting city I consider coming back here one time just to meet new people.

Located right on the royal mile. No complaints, friendly staff, clean rooms/beds, clean toilets and showers. Laundry service also available for £4. Would recommend for anybody wanting to stay on the royal mile.

A beautiful place for those who visit Scotland!

Stayed during my UK trip. I was in the 8 bed dorm which was spacious and had two cosy sofa chairs in the room. Breakfast was only two pounds and you get cereal, milk, juice, bread with jams and nutella! My dorm was above a pub so it can get noisy a night. However for the location, friendly staff and low price it was worth it. They also had posters offering a free night stay for people who can clean the hostel.

From 10 to 0, for me it's 6.5 or 7 but it depends on where you come from and here is Europe. Regular cleaning, you have to clean the areas you use. Good attention. Excellent location You have a locker per bed, you can buy your breakfast for £2 and utilzar a common room and kitchen.

Right balance between cost and service. Clean and nice enviroment right at the city center (5 mins walk to bus and train station). Very friendly staff. Worth to book well in advance as usually fully booked.

Rooms are fantastic, showers are very good, and the staff was very helpful. I'd highly recommend this hostel! Each person gets a locker, you can rent a towel for 50 pence, and they offer a £2 breakfast. It's also located in the perfect spot — very close to lots of bars and restaurants.

The top of the top in the absolute boys, the place is well organized clean and great and everything, wonderful experience.

Royal mile backpackers is a quaint hostel centrally located on the Royal Mile. The location is perfect for touring the city. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast costs 2£ and is simple but substantial (toast, cereal, fruit, tea, ect). The beds were comfortable and you also get a locker to store your things in. Overall a great place to stay.

Arrival was pleasant — greeted by a lovely, helpful Scottish woman whose name I unfortunately have forgotten. However, bathrooms were pretty grim and not very clean. There was a particular female staff member with curly dark hair who was extremely hostile and angry, even barking at a guest in the kitchen area at one point. Really unprofessional. Would not recommend.

The facilities are fine but zero atmosphere. The location is excellent and only 3 min walk from train station. I was comfortable in the 8 bed dorm. However there are staff living in the dorm rooms who want a normal sleeping pattern and so you have to be quiet from 10pm which in my opinion is very strict and doesn't allow for any party atmosphere. The owner is german so not surprising that a 10pm quiet time is imposed. This creates a boring environment and the staff though generally helpful have these bland bored faces as though they are in an office job they want to escape from all day. Boring depressing music is usually played and so quiet that you can hardly hear it. Basically facilities are fine but depressing and boring atmosphere. Not a fun place to stay at all. I go to hostels for atmosphere not facilities, if I want facilities I'd go to a 5 star hotel. There is zero atmosphere so wouldn't come here again.

Great staff, great location, very friendly. Provide lockers & breakfast for 2 pounds. Can get a little crammed sometimes, but the other guests are usually nice and I didn't mind.
