The rooms are small, dirty and very dated. No safe provided, no toilet brush and very stingy on the toiletries. Have to book to use the pool. No housekeeping to service the room due to covid. Waste of money.

Stay here if going to zoo but I cant honestly see any other reason for stopping here.

Lovely hotel and well situated to the main attractions in Edinburgh. Oscar in the resturant area is a amazing member of staff and a credit to the Holiday Inn.

The room was very dirty, phone was not working it was reported to the reception no action taken and was told it can be repaired when we check out 🤷🏻‍♀️. I ask for tea, coffee and sugar nothing was done. After keeping on asking on one sachet was given for two guests. The behaviour was unacceptable by some staff at the hotel.

The welcome from the receptionist was ace, and the room has a big bath which is great.

Was at a training event here and got a room at a good price. Room was quiet and clean but a bit chilly. The hotel looks lovely but I found the food pretty dull and definitely not home made on site. It was pretty tasteless and of the standard of a big brand pub chain, microwaved, pre packed. There wasn’t anything wrong with it, it was just dull. I was looking longingly out the restaurant window to the Chinese across the road which looked lovely.
I’d stay again but not eat here.

Friendly staff, and even tho we wanted to eat in restaurant our 5 month old was crying and screaming so we decided to have room service instead, staff still said to come down to eat in restaurant but stayed in room, the room service was quickest we’ve experienced in any hotel though, pool was gr8, 3yr old loved it cause water temp was warm. Will definitely be on our top few hotels to stay at when we visit Edinburgh.

The porter and the lady who cleaned our room really looked after my elderly parents. The breakfast was good and the sport facilities very adequate. If you want to go to the zoo it is a perfect location. They have facilities for disabled but had a big problem when my son visits for a meal. They have disabled lift to get down to the bar and ramp up to the main dining area. However, my son's wheelchair is very long and the list was too shortly do he had to enter vial the laundry lift which was not great emotionall.

Nice hotel, good location for the airport and bus links to city centre every 10-15 minutes. Very friendly staff and breakfast was good. Rooms could do with a little updating, but ok for what we wanted. We had weird but amusing wake up calls from the zoo animals but this added to the experience. Kids enjoyed it. For ease of access to the edinburgh centre and cost I would stay again.

My family and I had a good time staying here. The staffs were amicable and helpful. It's not in the center of the city, but it's not too far either, approximately 10 minutes by car. There's a zoo next to the hotel so if you're bored with the city view, you can just go there. ^^

Big room with amazing view and suitable furniture. The nearby road is pretty quiet. Very close to the bus stop. As the daily ticket cost is 4 pounds per adult it's cheap and comfortable to use buses for getting to the city center and back.

Reasonably priced hotel. The room was in need of updating and fairly small for a couple staying with a toddler but the beds were comfortable and we couldn't hear any outside noise. The staff at reception are very helpful and the swimming pool is lovely. We had breakfast the 3 mornings we stayed and found it very enjoyable although there can be a queue for the buffet at times. We ate in the bar on 2 evenings because it was handy with the toddler but the food is microwaved chipper food at restaurant prices and the service wasn't great either. Location is good, it's right beside the zoo and a bus stop, or a 40 minute walk to the city centre if you're feeling energetic!

Reasonable rates, rooms are a good size that myself and work colleagues were provided with. Bed was ok in regards to comfort, not too uncomfortable but nothing special either. Pillow variety was good — the soft pillows were very soft and the firm pillows were, well firm. However, room decor feels slightly dated and the fitness centre is equally as dated. Does the job, but could do with a lick of paint. TLDR; good size rooms with okay beds, but feels like it’s from the 90’s with the decor.

Classic International Hotel, a bit outdated, breakfast average but too repetitive.

Stayed overnight with my wife went to room lovelly view lovelly room very queit at night tried chinese across road pricey but very nice food had breakfast at hotel could not fault it buffet breakfast drinks bit pricey at bar for Coca Cola £2.10 p staff where pleasant friendly bunch will stay again.

Good location for catching bus in to city centre. No warning in advance than free parking is very limited (almost impossible) so be prepared to pay to park in the zoo car park (£4 in 2018). Twin room, pretty small, lighting not great, decor pretty tired and bathroom smelt a bit damp but beds were very comfortable (main highlight). Elevators are disconcertingly tiny. Can't rate breakfast (didn't have it) but evening meal was OK, though I've a feeling we were turned away from the empty but supposedly fully booked restaurant for not looking quite right — relegated to the bar area. Services was OK. We enjoyed the early morning exotic bird song (and monkey calls) from the zoo, but we were already awake — I can imagine it might not be ideal if you fancy a lie in! Good Wi-Fi. We had a special rate for the room — wouldn't value it at full price!

This is a good hotel in its category. Excellent bus links to city centre and for airport, good parking, adjacent to zoo, good views, courteous staff. What more do you want for your money?

Would recommend getting a room at the front of the hotel overlooking the road. We stayed in a room for the first night looking over the carpark right above where the main door was. Was woken up by people laughing and shouting to each other at 6.30 am. This had a king size bed which was just 2 single mattresses side by side with a groove where they met. Fortunately we managed to get an upgrade to a room at the front which was really good at lot better bed and good night's sleep. Swimming pool and changing rooms very clean and tidy. Hotel breakfast plentiful. Would also recommend getting a day bus ticket to get into and around Edinburgh. 3rd recommendation is the Cool Jade which is across the road for a cracking Chinese mral.

Two people room is very spacious although go out to play one day room card two people inexplicable are degaussing! But the counter is very attentive to help (there are starbucks❤️ in the hotel)

We arrived and were met at reception by a trainee named Maria who had a great sense of humour and made us feel very welcome. The room was nice and big with the bathroom being pretty clean apart from a couple of things. Rather annoyingly, our TV was not working. The bed was very comfortable with a good selection of pillows with me and my girlfriend getting a great nights sleep. We went for a swim in the morning and saw that the pool area was extremely clean. Must say, the prices of food and soft drink were unreasonable. We would stay here again.

Great welcome from reception, very helpful and great knowledge of all the facilities of the hotel. Room was spotless. Shower however was terrible in room 133 trickles of water coming out. Breakfast was average. Gym facilities great and location of hotel and bus routes brilliant.

One of the best executive rooms within a holiday inn in the UK I have visited and I have been to quite a few. Breakfast was excellent if you are into a full Scottish one and the restaurant and bar service was more than adequate. I did have to complain about the steak though and got a replacement for free without a single quibble. Will be returning for sure.

Really enjoyed our stay with one child here. Room was quiet at night, breakfast was lovely and it's an easy bus ride into the city. Staff were helpful and it's literally next to the zoo. Highly recommended.

Great staff, lovely food although quite expensive, nice coffee, great that you can have a complimentary Sunday newspaper to read while relaxing with a coffee. Gym and swim facilities were good and a nice wee addition to the weekend. Bus stop into town right outside the hotel — £1.60 one way. Would definitely return if able to get the same great price.

Love it. Lovely friendly staff. Stayed here for 3 weeks now for work. Although the food and beer is over priced. But there’s plenty of local takeaway’s nearby and a Witherspoon’s ten minutes walk up the road. For the price of my room I would definitely recommend it. Swimming pool and gym to use.

Dirty room, obviously not been vacuumed for a few days. Dirty toilet which was cleaned by a gentleman after complaining at reception. Will not stay or recommend to anyone.

I advise against restoration of poor quality.

Beds are comfy and room size is good for 2 travellers. Bathroom shower was a bit short for me, and slightly dated, but clean and good water pressure. Housekeeping and front desk staff were very helpful & friendly. Good location with bus stops right out the front of the hotel leading direct to Princes St (city centre) and the Airport. Being right next to the zoo, I expected to be awoken by the animals or people in the car park, but couldn't hear anything unless the window was opened.

Typical Holiday Inn — Stayed with family — good facilities, nice shower and bath, nice jacuzzi/swimming pool area, breakfast was very nice with good variety. Location was great right next to Edinburgh Zoo and free parking. Rooms were a bit small.

Stayed here with my husband and 14 yr old son, booked 2 rooms as son at that awkward age, was a bit nervous before arrival as it was his first time alone in a hotel room! My fears were soon banished with the warm welcome received, we had rooms next to each other, and he was happy and secure! Think he felt
Grown up haha, rooms were modern and clean, everything you could need was available, excellent views across the city, had food in the restaurant and it was lovely and the service first class, breakfast was plentiful and very tasty, a very well run hotel that had very pleasant, efficient, friendly staff, we did not have time to enjoy the leisure facility's as we were heading to the giant lanterns of china @ the zoo next door and the markets the following day, but an added bonus to know its there, great location for the zoo and base for city centre, I really don't think you could go wrong with this hotel.

Stayed as overnight guest whilst travelling for work. Great location, ample parking, room comfortable but a little small. Staff friendly and helpful, excellent gym facilities with lots of equipment, nice changing rooms and pool with jacuzzi and sauna, pity there was no steam room. Free Wi-Fi in room, you can upgrade the speed for a fee but found the free service acceptable for watching YouTube. Nice breakfast with plenty of choice. Reasonably priced, well done. Would definitely stay again.

We attended a work Christmas party night 9/12/17. The whole package from start to finish was excellent and well worth the money. The food was very good and plenty of it. The staff were attentive, courteous and nothing was a bother. The only down side was the disco music, but I suppose that’s a personal voice “thing”, it was however, passable.
We stayed over and found the room clean, warm and comfortable. Breakfast. Again great and plenty choices. Dining room was bright and airy and we had a fantastic view on a sunny morning as we enjoyed our breakfast. Reception staff were most helpful and arranged a taxi for us as per our request. I highly recommend this hotel, well done Holiday Inn staff, superb customer care, we will be back.

Restaurant and bar were both well maintained with a relaxed atmosphere. Check in was a smooth process. The room was a little dated, especially the bath and it did feel as though the walls were quite thin (could still hear lots of noise late at night). However, overall — a perfectly good hotel stay.

The bus line to the city center and to go to the airport right in front of the hotel is well in addition to the hotel Oùl'on feels good.

Good location right next to the zoo. Having on site parking is a welcome bonus for an Edinburgh hotel. Main road right outside was well served by taxis and buses. The tram stop at Balgreen is not too far away either. Breakfast food was good though the bar was pretty limited for craft ales. Room was small, cramped and the bathroom was showing its age. This part of the hotel could do with a refit as it is looking dated and tired. However, would certainly stay there again especially for events near or around the zoo area.

Exceptional value for money, staff excellent nothing is too much trouble if you have a query also buses at the hotel doors takes you in to centre of Edinburgh in under ten minutes. Bedrooms clean and comfortable front facing bedrooms have great views! Food good too.

Enjoyed the night here, pool and gym was not too busy in the early evening. Breakfast was excellent in the lovely restaurant, although it was busy the buffet was well stocked. The hotel is really well served by buses into the city and local pubs and restaurants, if the hotel menu is not for you. Car parking is plentiful and well lit.

There for a conference. We had a buffet for lunch — poor and very basic. Sandwiches dry. Staff pleasant. Looks clean. Very busy area and difficult and lucky to park in hotel.

Location: Hotel is in close proximity to city centre. Within walking range from monorail. Adjacent to the zoo which is a visual treat. Rooms: Comfortable rooms with all essentials. Slightly more spacious than the other hotels of the same brand. Television offers good variety of channels. Food: Good for someone looking for a quick bite. Buffet options (cuisine and dishes) repeat after 3 days which tends to get a tad bit boring. Restaurant offers ample of seating space and is comfortable. Overall Review: Very Satisfactory and would recommend this place to any traveller.

Slightly far from Edinburgh City centre but comfortable hotel. Since it is right next to the zoo, you may hear birds screeching! The restaurant serves good food for dinner and breakfast. The staff is very friendly and efficient. The rooms are quite comfortable but the double bed is not wide enough. A king-size bed would have been better.

Personally nn I liked for nothing, tiny little bathroom room, the room and the structure itself give the idea of dirt of neglect, although I admit the bed was comfortable, the breakfast plentiful and varied, the staff very friendly and helpful, the location NN is bad has several buses that take you to Princess Street, that is in the center, I would say that three stars go well.

Absolutely brilliant hotel in a great position. The staff always are willing to help and want to do as much as possible for you. The rooms are clean and very well kept. The breakfast was plentiful with both hot and continental options. There are 4 busses that arrive directly out the front and it is a short 15minute journey into the city. I would highly recommend this hotel and will stay there again when next in Edinburgh.

If you are seeking a large hotel that has brand value then look no further. Holiday Inn, Corstorphine Road, is a large hotel that has brand value but that's about it. You can find several hotels at cheaper, much cheaper rates closer to the city centre. This hotel is situated literally next to the Edinburgh Zoo and is way out of the city. For people who want to be close to Princess Street area, should look for other hotel. Not only are they cheaper but they would be more modern. (Look at the photo of the rate list displayed at the reception) As we are travelling as part of a large group organised by Trafalgar, we have a bus/coach at our disposal and travelling to and from the city isn't really a problem. That apart, the room we have (145) has a locker, which unfortunately is broken, and there is no iron but only a trouser press. However, there is a small refrigerator that you could use if you so desire. The room also has air conditioning and heating provision but the heating was not turned on. The bed is comfortable but the washroom is very small and cramped. The window opens towards the city and offers wonderful views. So if you are not particular about the area you stay and don't mind shelling out more than the rates you can find in the city, go ahead and come here. Otherwise find another hotel in the city limits.

Great to visit Edinburgh halfway between airport and city center with bus stop at one step.

Complimentary breakfast was hearty and filling. Better than we expected for a hotel. The bed was comfy, although it felt as if they put two mattress together to make a King size, and the base felt as if it were on wheels and not planted on the floor. The pillows felt extra firm, and it took a while to find a setup that worked. With the windows open, a steamy shower was only enjoyable and left the room pleasant even after a night's rest (mind you this was in the summer). Overall, an option for softer pillows is the only improvement I can think of besides parking, which they seem to have addressed as best they can.

Fantastic location with great view from the room. Very convenient if you are going to the zoo as it's right next door. Staff were all very friendly and helpful and helped out when we experienced a couple of problems. Excellent facilities with a lovely pool and fitness suite. Definitely recommend.

Stayed here 5 nights on a business trip to Edinburgh, had an executive room which was excellent and included a fridge! Staff are friendly, couldn't seem to do enough for us. Breakfast was good, had all the usual items you could want. Didn't eat in the hotel itself for dinners as there is so much variety close by, I would recommend the Chinese restaurant across the road called cool jade. All and all a great stay and the zoo is literally next door. Recommended!

Our room was very nice and comfortable and was very reasonably priced. It was a short bus ride to get to Edinburgh. I would stay here again.

Lovely staff on reception, Nicola very helpful, always prepared to go the extra mile. Was not impressed with Sampans restaurant, Andy the chef really spoilt us at breakfast, Great executive room with fridge and free Wi-Fi. Fantastic view of the Pentland hills from the room.

Washroom was good (shower had great pressure). Heating/Cooling unit was broken and there was no mini-fridge to keep drinks cold. Breakfast is done well, however dinner took a while to get and the server forgot a meal. Once the meal was received the rest of the table had finished. A brownie dessert given complementary for this.

I always enjoy staying at the Holiday Inn Edinburgh. It is a pleasant hotel, and staff are very helpful and friendly. However it's success is its downfall! The hotel is very busy so expect a queue for breakfast!

Stayed with my Husband for our anniversary. The room was very clean, as was the bathroom, and was a nice big size. The staff were nice and polite when speaking to them. Only issue we had was the cooked breakfast, which neither of us enjoyed.

The hotel is next to Edinburgh zoo and has bus stops outside from both the Airlink 100 service direct from the airport (cost £7.50 return and even has free Wi-Fi! ) and buses directly to Edinburgh city centre. The Holiday Inn is in keeping with most other holiday inns but the staff are attentive and polite. We ate at both traders and Sampans restaurants and the food quality was superb. Service in Traders started well but was not good after the main course. The manager apologised for this and made good. As for the zoo it's next door and you can get 50% off if you are a hotel resident. You can hear the distant calling of the animals in the morning (not intrusive but makes a change from the normal birds singing) The health club is has a pool but during school holidays you will need to book a time slot. On our arrival we couldn't get a sensible time with young children so booked it for a few days time. On the whole of you are visiting the zoo and you know what holiday inns offer you will not be disappointed.

Lovely hotel inside. Staff quite helpful and rooms were nice. Felt that the food was far too over priced — especially for the hotels location, which was at least a half hour bus journey to Princes St.

Just back from a weekend at this hotel brilliant atmosphere with the rugby being played that weekend Hotel was very busy but staff were amazing only complaint was both nights we ate in the resturant Traders and the food was not up to much and not very hot but it didn't spoil out weekend.

Not viable if with small kids. There are a LOT of stairs to get in, and I mean a lot. Not suitable if you have a kid on a pram or any sort of luggage. The alternative is to walk the driveway between moving cars with no safety to the parking lot were again if you walk between parked cars you get to the reception. The staff was borderline rude. We made a reservation for a double bed and got twin beds when asked about it they just shrugged of with a "sucks to be you" attitude and when pressed sent someone to put the twin beds together. The twin beds were on wheels so as expected that was not helpful at all. Not a place to return, there are better alternatives.

Very good and efficient service. Room was modern and clean with all the essentials, breakfast was decent but not a huge range of choice. Overall very good and reasonably priced for a business trip.

From one fussy person I would highly recommend this hotel from the moment we booked in on aŕival till we booked out was great sparkling clean staff very plesant and extremly tidy and clean Didnt use the bar or resturant only because we didnt have time All the facilties looked great altho pool small but no complaints about it x Room was great upgraded to the executive room for an extra £15 per night well worth it x Only thing was pictures not been updated as the room we were in didnt lòok like the one on the site it was 100 times better and so was the bathroom So think they have just be redecorated but soooo nice Cant wait to come back xx.

Will return again and again to stay at this hotel as I had such a good time here when I cam with friends. Your right next door to the Zoo, you have a bus stop outside hotel which I 5min ride into the centre. Food and Breakfasts where amazing, full English/Scottish breakfast, to continental and a pancake making machine which there was always a queue for. Would defiantly recommend for family's due to the location and how close you are to the Zoo. The rooms are also very comfortable and good night sleep. Friendly staff always helpful, also hotel allows you to keep your luggage there during the day till we had to make our train, free of cost.

Just back from an overnight in the Holiday Inn, where we had a very enjoyable stay. Firstly let me say at the price it would be hard to complain, but the experience was much better than the price suggested it would be. First impressions were good, with the reception staff being both friendly and efficient. The public areas of the hotel were well laid out and spotless. The rooms were a bit tired — we were moved from the 1st room due to a problem with the air-con, but this was done quickly and with no fuss. The staff, without exception, were very friendly and we were treated very well. We did not have dinner in the hotel, but the breakfast was great — a choice of continental, cereal, full cooked, pancakes, croissants and even pancakes. Transport into the city is from the road in front of the hotel, takes about 10-15 mins depending on traffic, but as 3 separate bus lines can be used, the longest we had to wait was 5 mins. Well recommended for a visit to Edinburgh.

We spent two nights on two weekends in the Holiday Inn directly at the Zoo in the framework of a tour of Scotland Edinburgh. We were very pleased with the room and the service there. However, I could bring the shower after the first night not in motion, and then had to wash my hair in the bathtub water crane. Our room had a well functioning air conditioning so that you could keep the unusual Scottish summer heat quite well in check.
The breakfast was very good and freshly made, but were we rudely or unfriendly to our table "referenced". I would have liked a more friendly prompt of the "Lord of the buffet". In the upper room, there was no cereal, you had to then at the counter in the lower room for it. We were very early with breakfast (approx. 7 30 pm) we had to also nowhere stand despite weekend and summer. The bottom line, we had a pleasant stay with very friendly reception — room staff and clean rooms.

I would like to start by saying for the price you really can't go wrong, we have just paid £135 for 3 nights including breakfast. First for the positives the breakfasts are fantastic with lots of choice hot and cold and a fantastic pancake machine for the kids, we also ate at Sampans (Pan Asian) and the food although a little expensive was fantastic with great service from the staff who were hughly attentive. With regards to dining in if you don't already have a tastecard it worth getting one as this is accepted throughout the hotel. As far as location you are next door to zoo which is half price after 3pm and the city centre is about 15 minutes away on the bus which depart and drops off right out side the hotel, Adult singles are £1.50 taxi's are between £10 and £12. Now for the negatives the rooms are tired there is no getting away from it the furniture is damaged and in need of replacement, the bath rooms are tiny but the showers can be good subjetc to your room. During hoilday periods the hotel does become a little overrun with kids and as a result of this you have to book a time slot for the leisure facilities. Not a problem some but you also can't use the usb or HDMI socket on the tv's to play your own films as this option is locked on the tv's. Just a quick side note try and get a room at the front of the hotel as the views are great.

Very bad experience. First of all, the shower had a problem the first day. Second, the room had no ventilation whatsoever, and obviously the windows couldn't be opened. That is a big problem when the sun shines all through the window. It was so bad that I had to let my door open so that air would come in. Also if you go on a weekend, I do not recommend you to have breakfast in the hotel since it becomes so crowded that you have to queue for some time in order to get the breakfast. There are certainly way better choices out there.

Great rooms. Friendly staff. AMAZING breakfast! Don't bother going to the restaurant for an evening meal though. It was really bad, expensive and the only downside to the stay.
