What a find. We were welcomed by Helen who made us feel at home.
Our room was excellent with a newly installed walk in shower, clean fluffy towels and crisp spotless bedding.
An extensive breakfast menu and it made a nice change not to have Full English. The toast was made with home made bread and the lovely quince and apricot jam was also home made. We would have no hesitation in recommending The Old Vicarage and would certainly stay again.

What a fantastic B&B. Spotless, room was well appointed and so quiet. The hosts, Tim and Helen were very welcoming. Breakfast was a real treat. Two nights of feeling spoilt in a beautiful part of Wales. Would definitely recommend and return.

A lovely property situated just off the main road, so excellent driving accessibility. Parking is plentiful, there's a nice spacious front garden with a bird feeder, so you can get to watch the birds every morning. — I would expect this to be a nice place to sit outside in during the summer months, with nice weather.
Owners/staff there were both lovely and very accommodating, kept us well supplied with alcohol and a well organised morning breakfast. Alcohol options are well priced — the cocktail mix in particular was excellent! Breakfast options are varied, and I was a particular fan of the omelette options. I thought the value overall was fair and reasonable.
I went for the deluxe room, and I recommend it, as you get a lovely bath (of generous size for couples to get in together, ) and a large bed — essential if you're anywhere near 6ft tall!
The bed was fantastic, very comfortable and with superb pillows, I had two perfect nights of sleep here, which was essential for me as I was visiting the area to do an Athletics fitness test.
Should I have need to travel back to Newtown in the future, this is definitely going to be my choice of accommodation, as it is quite frankly faultless. I fully recommend it to everyone.

We visited in September with our son and his bride to be, alongside the brides parents, the bride and grooms brothers, and our grand-daughter aged 1 year. Tim and Helen couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating. The wedding was at The Giraffe Shed on the other side of Newtown, and met our requirements completely. The breakfast menu enabled a different choice each day and was tasty and freshly cooked. The rooms were clean and comfy with a wonderful bed.
We would recommend and visit again if we were in the area.

We stayed for three nights the week restrictions were lifted. Tim and Helen couldn’t be better hosts. It was spotlessly clean, adhering to all the COVID rules so it also felt totally safe. I don’t eat meat or dairy and Tim prepared beautiful food for us — the breakfasts are also fabulous. I’d recommend eating there every night of your stay! I also recommend the house cocktail🍹 The house is lovely and set in fabulous grounds. There’s lots of walking in the area surrounding Dolfor, but Shrewsbury and the Elan Valley Reservoirs are within easy travelling distance as are three National Trust properties. Fab trip, thank you.

It's simply perfect in every way.

The Old Vicarage was warm and inviting. The home and the surroundings are peaceful. The breakfast was exquisite. Tim and Helen have paid attention to every detail imaginable. It’s the best of the best.

Honestly the best breakfast I've had in 10 years. This darling B&B offers amazing views of the beautiful countryside, an ideal location just out of town, a comfy bed that only that breakfast could persuade me to leave, and a chance to truly relax. I'd be happy to return every year.

I booked a room at The Old Vicarage as I was working in Newtown for a few days. I was very pleasantly surprised at the high standards. Tim and Helen are wonderful hosts. The property is amazing, such beautiful views. The room was spotlessly clean and had everything I needed (apart from a table to work on but I could have gone down stairs). It was better than a lot of hotel rooms I've stayed in which sometimes cost twice as much! The bed was so comfortable — I had an excellent few nights sleep. The room had coffee and tea, with biscuits and chocolate as well as bottled water. TV in the room with more channels than I get at home. The breakfast was lovely, cereals, fruit, fresh fruit juice, filter coffee or team and a selection of hot food — scrambled eggs were delicious. I had my evening meal at the B&B — what a surprise that was! I was expecting a stew or Sheppard pie and got the most amazing 3 course meal — better than most restaurants I've eaten in — WOW! and such good value for money. All fresh local or homegrown food — the apple juice is amazing, fresh from a farm up the road! fresh homegrown early asparagus — their own eggs… I was in heaven… and the homemade jam is delicious They also have a license to server alcholol I would most definitely stay here again.

An amazing little cosy place to stay! Amazing hosts will take care of you and will serve you GROUND coffee! What an amazing thing to get in a country where people are surprised you don't want instant coffee and do not know what instant tea is. But honestly now, a really nice place. I will come there again for a trip around mid Wales, as this time was for work. Very nice breakfast too.

Lovely house, beautifully decorated. Very clean and welcoming. Friendly couple, and fantastic food — very impressed by the menu; local food, organic options — even local art on the walls, and local honey and preserves you can buy to take home with you! Looking forward to coming back next year.

Lovely place would go again. Breakfast they make their own bread an the decafe coffee one of the nicest I have had. Nice size bathroom an good pillows.
