We had a lovely three night stay at The Lion. It is a great place to explore the local area and Criccieth itself is lovely! We were really impressed with the friendliness of the staff and the breakfasts and evening meal were lovely. The hotel was very clean with good covid measures in place. Our room was very spacious with a great view of the sea and castle. We will definately visit again. Thankyou for our lovely stay and an extra thankyou to the staff for helping us with our son's allergy.

With friendly staff and great food The Lion Hotel is a relaxing base from which to visit Portmerion and Snowdonia or just chill out on Criccieth beach.

I asked to move room and they were very helpful. I much appreciated this gesture. So yes I would recommend.

Had a phone all this morning re closure due to c——-virus. They could not have been more helpful. I haven’t been there yet, but so far I could not speak more highly of them. Caring, pleasant and thoughtful sprung immediately in my mind. Have rebooked for October can’t wait to go.

We had a 50th Birthday party here with well over a 100 guest, mostly local but many family and friends invited to the party, with well over a 100 guests every single person raved about the food there was not ONE person disappointed I would like to say a big Thank you and wish I could give you 10 stars not 5

I’ve used this hotel over the years and it’s always been good you get a good choice of food and the meals are filling, rooms are clean and tidy, the staff are are good too. So when working in this area we always come back here.

A large, rambling hotel with a myriad of labyrinthine corridors! Initially we were offered Room 21 which we rejected as it was right next to an entrance door and also under some stairs. We were then pleasantly and quickly moved to Room 34 at the top of the building which was large, bright, airy and very clean. Much better! It is at the front of the hotel and earplugs are provided if you should need them. TV was a bit small but all channels seemed to work ok. Room was warm enough and windows opened and closed as they should. Nice view out the front of the beer garden and the shops, also the castle up on the hill. In the morning we felt that the breakfast was good value. Usual fare of cereals, tea, coffee and buffet style cooked breakfast stuff. The buffet was replenished regularly and we felt was of excellent quality. The car park is ok, though it will fill up I guess if they are busy. It is listed as a 3 star hotel and it is certainly a solid 3 star for sure. It is quite expensive at over 100 pounds a night but that is market demand I guess. I have certainly stayed in a lot worse!

Food not up to there usual standard. Slow cooked steak pie was incredibly tough. Good local ales though.

Very nice 2 nights stay, my wife and I had a lovely bar meal Friday evening. Home cooked steak pie, and chicken and mushroom pie. Tasty and piping hot. The room was clean and lots of hot water, the beds where comfortable, but could do with one soft and one harder pillow as a selection. Staff are friendly, nice big comfortable chair to relax and read in the reception area.

What a wonderful indipendant hotel to visit & to stay at. The staff are very friendly and helpful with any questions you may have. Also you are only a few minutes walk to the beech & the sea.

A place of byegone charm and value… friendly and helpful staff… light airy and clean room… good cooked breakfast not swimming in oil… not the Ritz but not Ritz prices either…

Lovely hotel in North Wales, stunning views of the coast line and Snowdonia. Very friendly and accommodating staff and were happy to work with us arriving late, bring bikes and then borrowing towels on returning form a ride having already checked out. The decor is a little dated, but the room was decent size and its an affordable hotel with good facilities, great location and friendly staff. Food was OK, not phenomenal but no complaints.

Just had a weekend at this amazing hotel. Its immaculate. Staff so pleasant and helpful everything was top notch. Breakfeast was very good. Service great. Had a good chat with Robert who is a very pleasant hard working young man and told us a great deal of information the manager must be so proud to have such lovely caring staff a most enjoyable weekend. Thankyou to all of you. Will be sampling evening menu next time cant wait!

We had the 2 for £12 lunch. Good value smaller portions. Only thing was the only veg on offer are peas, which I can't have. Nice pleasant lunch.

. I have stayed here often and found all the staff friendly and helpful. Rooms in the main building are all different and have their own charm. For breakfast there is a wide choice of hot and cold food. When busy they have a buffet but in the quiet times they cook it specially. In the evenings the bar menu is varied and excellent value.

Just got back from a 3 day Easter Break at The Lion in Criccieth and will definitely be going back as soon as possible. Lovely hotel in a lovely place, all the staff were friendly & pleasant especially Robert & Zoe. The rooms were clean and comfortable & the food in the restaurant or in the bar was superb. Thank you all for a wonderful stay.

Nice hotel very clean staff were friendly and helpful the food was great even my kids liked the food breakfast was nice too rooms were clean and fresh. Oh and my daughter told my to say the rooms were lovely and worm (she's 7) we've re booked for the 6 week holidays wen we checked out.

Criccieth is a quaint villiage and the lion hotel is situated right in the heart of it No seaviews but still a nice place to stay and sightsee.

Lovely carvery, just like homemade. 6 of us went and we all enjoyed it.

Clean warm February when I was there good food great old building.

Mainly for food I think, ive had nice food there. Would be better if you could eat outside when its sunny. Generally pleasant environment, friendly staff and certainly more elegant than the standard. I think there are a lot of events here so a viable option if you want to take people out wn masse.

Great weekend break. All hotel staff very friendly and helpful. The rooms were well equipped and warm. The food very good. Thank you to everyone for making our stay so enjoyable.

Lovely hotel all staff were totally efficient and pleasent great location And scenery will deffinetly be returning in summer.

Walked straight in from a 3 hour drive staff great, family room with great, spacious and clean and great views. Beds are comfortable Had a good night sleep. Breakfast with A1 too. I will definitely stop there again 5 stars.

This was a wonderful place to stay and we had a gorgeous view of the castle and coast. The staff were warm and accommodating.

Had a great meal here and was served by friendly staff. The nice lady behind the bar didn't even mind when I tried my poor Welsh skills on her.

Lovely cosy pub — restaurant menu looked nice. We had pub grub, was bloody lovely ☺

Walked in around 7 to find all tables being reserved at Half 9 for the quiz, we asked if they had any other tables and was simply told 'they're all reserved. ' Barely raised a smile whilst ordering drinks, no conversation skills or even an acknowledgment. Very rude bar man. We got some menus to look at the food, whilst deciding we went on the quiz machine where the bar man took away our menus with no conversation at all! Chris was the guy behind the bar and he made us feel like we were too much hassle and clearly did not want our business.

Just home from a 3 night stay. Family room was very spacious & my parents double room was great. The service from all members was staff was excellent, everyone was very friendly. Good choice for breakfast, didn't eat in the restaurant at night but the set menu had a good choice and looked good value for money. The decor is cosy rather than contemporary but all in all very clean. Thank you xx.

Lovely pub with very friendly staff. So friendly in fact, that after 2 visits the barman remembered our usual order!. The food is amazing, great for vegetarians and vegans too, and very reasonably priced. We will definately be back on our next visit to Criccieth.

Standard pub grub with a wide variation on the menu. Served quickly with a friendly service from the staff. Both Welsh and English spoken but both are equally welcome. Perfect for a family with small children.

Superb Hotel in ideal position. Excellent food good choices brilliant breakfast. Very pleasant staff. Nice rooms and bar with quiet lounge. Definitely worth a return visit.

Medium sized hotel with sunny terrace and beer garden. They do a good range of bar food as well as the restaurant meals. Close to the middle of town. Usually two or three real ales on — mostly local beers.

Older traditional hotel. Family owned. Good food in convenient location. Not the friendliest of hotels.

Service was spot on just like the food I will definitely use this place again and only 5 minutes walk to an amazing hidden gem of a beach.

My wife and I stayed at The Lion Hotel for four nights while travelling with Chandler's Coach Tour and could not fault the hotel. The hotel delivered a friendly atmosphere throughout, the rooms were clean and comfortable with the odd creaky floorboard confirming that it was built in the 18C. Two of our four night stay had entertainment which was enjoyed by our group. The food was fantastic with at least a choice of three starters, three main course and three desert with the choice to make your own tea or coffee if required. The roast potatoes were the best presented and tastiest of any previous hotel that I have used in past years. It is within pleasant walking distance of shops and the beach.

The staff were nice enough, but the tiny room reeked of mold and mildew. They advertise "free Wi-Fi" in the lounge area, but I tried several times and couldn't connect.

Spent a pleasant few days here in March. The Hotel is nice with friendly staff and good food. The location is great with easy access to both rail and local buses. Nice walking area with its castle on the headland from where there are spectacular views.
