Me and my husband stayed last night, it was a wedding gift in the form of vouchers, monachyle mhor is so beautiful, it has the most relaxed atmosphere and the most amazing views ever. We had dinner there, the service and food was superb.
We stayed in a courtyard room, it had the most amazing shower and bath. Lovely big room, we will definitely be returning.

What a spectacular place. The holy trinity of location food and charming hosts. The weather was the creme chantilly on the gateau.

We thoroughly enjoyed being the first post lockdown guests to stay at Monachyle Mhor. We spent the weekend in The Ferry. A great set up consisting of the waiting room from the old Port Appin — Isle of Lismore Ferry for the sleeping area, a wonderful seating area outdoors with fire pit area and also a small cabin right next to it for cooking eating and relaxing in. There is also the cutest fire pit cabin a short walk through the woods, perfect for roasting s’mores if the Scottish weather gets the better of you! All very well equipped to a high standard. Very comfortable beds and luxurious bedding made for great sleep for us all. Such a private and gorgeous location, whilst close to the hotel where our own private good sized bathroom with fluffy towels and lovely toiletries were provided, we also felt like we were completely secluded in our own wee bit of the world. Tom and his team made us feel really welcome. My daughters loved the freedom and the swings, dens and the farm pets Luna the calf and Mhoy the lamb. The attention to detail is amazing, delicious fresh bread was awaiting us in the cabin and the stove already on making it lovely and cosy. We enjoyed eggs from the chickens on the farm poached for breakfast, my daughters proclaiming they were the best eggs they’ve ever tasted! We spent a lot of time exploring the nearby area, my daughters were delighted to both catch their first ever fish in Loch Voil.

Lovely restaurant. Very friendly service and dining experience was exceptional — food delicious and drinks to match… a definite recommendation if in the area.

This was such a find. Wanted somewhere with character, good food & no enforced Burn’s Celebrations.
Monachyle surpassed all our expectations. From the moment we arrived we knew we would be back. Gorgeous spacious rooms. Each one with it’s own quirky look.
Public areas are cosy & welcoming with that lovely smell of wood fires permeating through the building.
And the food! One of the best meals we’ve eaten anywhere in a long time. From the first canapés to the last petit fours there were many little surprises and explosions of flavour. Biggest problem is having to choose. Every dish sounded interesting.
Great selection of wines and gins. Kept everyone in our party happy.
Fabulous place to have celebrated our sons 18th. Just a pity my birthday is only 10 days on!

Fantastic dog-friendly escape in a unique setting with incredibly friendly staff. Food was excellent and design and atmosphere throughout is a wee bit special. Highly recommend.

The most scenic drive ever after Callander to get to the property, after which the food is excellent Modern Scottish cuisine served in prix fixe 3 course at a great value. Must for foodies, an absolute gem in the most stunning surroundings. Menu is seasonal and changes a lot, but I would recommend any of the fish courses.

Welcoming hotel in the most spectacular remote setting with glorious views over the Loch and mountains. The food was exceptional and literally blew my socks off. A well-travelled foodie I know when something is a cut above and the offering here was flawless — and unique. Just wonderful. Eat, drink and be very, very merry. It’s fabulous.

Visited them for lunch. The 3-course lunch was delicious. The hotel is in a superb location, at the end of loch Voil. A 3-mile single track road to get there, but is sounds worse than it is. And the views are rewarding.

The room was excellent, however the service from a number of clearly inexperienced staff was poor and not befitting an establishment of this standing and cost. The dinner, although beautifully presented lacked flavour and the lamb was cold by the time it reached our table. The owners really need to sort out the service and I would suggest start by hiring local staff rather than transient, inexperienced staff from Eastern Europe!

Indeed this place is great. Good energy throughout. Nice dogs pottering around. They serve cracking food and drink with a great rhythm in lovely portions and you get good attention. My only frown was that my poached egg was overcooked but I'll let them off because they were warm congenial folk and it was a beautiful place with intriguing outhouses and ridiculously beautiful surroundings. Balanced my perspective on the egg.

Only stopped for a drink but wish it had been more. Scenic location that's out of the way but not difficult to get to if that makes sense. I need to come back and stay over next time.

We had a fantastic family lunch at Monachyle Mhor last month, all organised beautifully by Paulina! Everything was superb — champagne and canapés, a wonderful 4 course lunch with nice wines and coffee with petits fours afterwards. We couldn't fault anything! We've been going to Monachyle Mhor for years for special occasions and they never let us down — the food is absolutely superb! Add to that the unique and beautiful surroundings, the lovely dining room, the relaxed friendly atmosphere and the excellent staff team and you have yourselves a perfect special occasion meal! Thank you to everyone for making our family lunch truly memorable — our French guests were very impressed!

My husband and I spent an overnight here for our anniversary. It was fantastic, 5* food and homely atmosphere. On arrival to our room we were surprised by a little gift and message which was a lovely touch. Staff were all pleasant and friendly. The view from our room was gorgeous and the surrounding areas need to be admired on a walk/drive. Highly recommend! We will be back at some point!

Excellent event hosted at the beautiful Monachyle Mhor hotel. Excellent grounds, well managed event coordinated by the Mhor group and the staff of Monachyle Mhor.

I cannot stress enough how glorious this place is. We stayed for the Christmas package and had the most wonderful time. Tom and Lisa are exceptional hosts that make you feel completely at home, the location is beyond stunning on the lake, and every meal blew us away. We were upgraded when we arrived and fell in love with our room. The staff were all so attentive and would somehow manage to get in and out of our room to leave it impeccable whenever we nipped out. Would also recommend going for walks as the countryside is so beautiful. We can't wait to return!

Lovely setting, great staff and wonderful and very rich food. Very comfortable rooms and great location for walks and cycle rides. But only if you are not a vegetarian. There is a veggmenu if you ask but we stayed two nights and while meat dishes changed veggie did not.

Just had our wedding here and the staff were a delight to work with in planning all details and on the day. We had unexpected surprises from arrival like upgraded rooms and special vegan and coeliac meals for some of our guests. Rooms are massive and stylish and worth every penny, especially for the breakfast which is included. Will be coming back for our wedding anniversary!

We were married during our visit to the Monachlye Mhor. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us and make our stay so magical. The food, room, and stay were all incredible. We will never forget our time spent here.

Utter boutique hotel perfection. Family feel but stylish. Secluded and relaxing. Accommodating hosts. Particularly fantastic food and whiskey menu.

One of the best and most unusual places to stay in the Highlands. Well worth the long drive from the main road. Particularly special if you enjoy gourmet food and don't need to eat "traditional" Scottish food. Everything is seasonal and unique to Monachyle Mhor. Owner Tom Lewis is a treat and Betty is such a friendly dog. We love suite 15.

Great people, great hotel, great food, in an amazing setting. We've been a few times. Each time has been a special experience. Ideally situated for a relaxing break far from the madding crowds or for bagging a few of the munros right on the doorstep.

A nice and cozy hotel in an 18th-century farmhouse with a sleek restaurant & loch views. Away from the city with great view of lakes and valleys.

Fantastic staff service but the queues were to long to order good on the day of the race.

We've just spent a night at Monachyle Mhor, and it was an absolute delight. I'm vegan, and really appreciate the amount of effort they put in to ensure I was well catered for. I called ahead to ask if there would be vegan options, and was presented with a special menu last night which had three options for each course. Even the hors d'oeuvres and petit fours had been made specially for me. It felt special that they'd gone out of their way to make sure I was well-fed and had plenty of options. I can't tell you how nice it is not to feel like you're being a hassle by having dietary requirements! Thank you very much, Monachyle Mhor, for a wonderful stay.

Didn't stay in the hotel, but attended for an athletics event held on site. The location is stunning, the view superb. The event utilised the catering and halls from the hotel and these were second to none. The drive there featured what feels like the longest single track road on the planet (5 miles! ) but that isn't really something you could complain about being as the charm of the aforementioned stunning view and location is the fact that it is so far removed from everything else. Highly recommended and somewhere I'll definitely be looking at staying myself.

Monachyle Mhor is a wee gem of a place. It's set in an amazing location surrounded by Scotland's natural beauty — green hills, lochs and wildlife. Our family just love visiting here. We are always greeted with a warm welcome from the staff. We've stayed in 3 different rooms and all of them were different from each other but all have the same stylish charm. We usually start our stay with a drink in the bar next to the log fire then a walk in the countryside to breathe in the fresh air. We always feel so relaxed when we stay here. The food is really fantastic — for both dinner & breakfast. We normally go into Calendar for lunch. Mhor Bread & Mhor Fish in Calendar are also worth a visit. Can't wait for our next stay.

I really would like to leave a five star review but unfortunately it has to be two. This is due to the fact that the dogs are allowed to walk around freely and sleep on all the furniture. And as a bonus it was very unpleasant to eat your sandwiches and see something bloody hanging out of a dogs anus.

A fantastic restaurant in a stunning location. Having eaten here on average twice a year for the last 8 years, I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal. My wife and I holiday in the area once or twice a year and we always make a point of eating at the restaurant and always look forward to the experience. The food is locally sourced and as fresh as can be, while the service is impeccable, attentive without being pushy. The lunch menu is incredibly good value at £30 a head for a 3 course meal without drinks and leaves you feeling nicely satisfied. There are also great value options on the wine list, but if you are feeling flush then the wine cellar is extensive and can damage even the fullest wallet. The evening meal is even better, with an avalanche of delectable courses and fizzing, lively atmosphere. The restaurants setting is amazing with some of the finest views in the Scottish Highlands, being situated at the end of a beautiful loch down a deep and picturesque glen. Casual during the day with walkers stopping in for tea, cake and sandwiches. Dog and children friendly. The evenings are definitely a more formal and glittering affair with out being in any way stuffy. It does get very busy, especially during peak season and at weekends any time of year. Booking ahead is a must.

I love this place! I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes the great outdoors.

We loved the location, the room and little sheep wake up at 8 in the morning right under our window with views of the loch.
The restaurant is one of the very rare 2/50 in Scotland in which I eat very well! Do not hesitate it's worth! A real nugget that we hesitate to share so the site is quiet and peaceful!

Probably the prettiest location I've scene in Scotland. The food was amazing and we loved the layout of the dining areas. Definitely check this place out if you are going to see Ron Roy's grave or are in the area.

The hotel is nice, small but nice room. An extremely attentive staff and very good food. And to the landscape with two lakes. Very much recommended!

By my own error I booked us into the hotel instead of the motel. As we were on a budget at the time the reception staff made every effort to accommodate us, despite my mistake. The room was clean and inviting, and the restaurant staff very friendly.

Better than Gleneagles by far.

Just come back from a wedding at the Loch and every single staff member could not have done more to help with every aspect of the day's proceedings, they simply could not have done any more to further their help. Outstanding service and beautiful food.

Exciting flavours, even in the smallest squiggle or dot of food for decorating the dish. Love the white table cloths and the thin squeaky clean wine glasses. A special treat whether for a romantic lunch or dinner for 2 or for a party of friends.

We visited 22nd June 2010 for the Gourmet Lunch Special as detailed on their website. First impressions were great, lovely location, fantastic day. You cant deny the hotel is situated in an ideal place (if a bit of a windy road to get to — could be better sign posted). We arrived at noon, had a choice of table which was great as we had our new daughter with us so we sat in one of the end rooms with a comfortable window seat which made it a bit more private for feeding the baby etc. However we were instantly put off by the number of flies/ wasps there were. My husband spent the first 20 mins trying to kill them all! Also the lunch menu wasn't ready even though it is advertised from noon onwards. Then came a slight confusion over the menu, we thought we had booked a special dining experience as written on the web site, but it was just the normal lunch menu. If we had decided to book lunch based on the sample menu on the web site we woulnd't have bothered. There were no forks on our table either which was such a basic thing to get wrong. As neither of us were drinking wine I would have expected all our wine glasses to be removed from the table, but we had to put them aside ourselves. The waitress managed to spill water over my knives when she was pouring but didn't offer to replace them so I had to dry them with my napkin. However we ordered lunch, my starter was fantastic (cauliflower mousse) however my husbands salmon starter was a bit of a let down.

This is a great wee hotel that is well known for its food. It has a modernish Highland theme, and some of the rooms are spectacular. Friendly and efficient staff, great food, good rooms and an amazing location all add up to this being a peach of a hotel.
