We’ve been debating whether this is our favourite hotel. The TV is postage stamp sized and the bath gel is impossible to extract. That’s the negative bit. So many positives beyond the travel brochure views. The staff are friendly, great location, ample parking, nice bar, homemade cakes for well-earned afternoon snacks, family run (and it shows) without being claustrophobic, and… that restaurant! Wow! We’re part way through our first stay and whether or not it is we’re working out when we can come back!

A wonderful, atmospheric, cosy hotel with modern equipped rooms. At the bottom of the house is a first-class restaurant, which also satisfies gourmet requirements, but also likes to be visited by locals. Very good service.
Absolute Advantage: The wonderfully quiet location at the end of a stitch road, Dirakt at the Loch and pier. Recommendation: Book rooms with lake view.

Had a coffee at the Pier house Hotel. It has a great atmosphere, staff were pleasant and helpful. Location is superb — a nice drive to get to the hotel with a great view of castle stalker.

The welcome was wonderful, our room was upgraded to a sea loch view and the food is simply marvelous.

Sailed from Dunstaffnage for midday seafood meal, picked up a buoy at the jetty in sheltered water. Lovely warm fire, friendly staff, excellent choice of local produce. Not expensive, good value, a memorable occasion.

Stayed for three days so had time to really check the place out. The view from the rooms and the dining room is beautifull. Light games and sunset (when sun there is) the food is delicious specially the seafood. Very comfortable rooms and friendly people. I will definitely come back.

The best food! Unbeatable. The hotel is of a beautiful quality in one of the most stunning locations possible in Scotland. My only criticism, and it is small one, is that the rooms are a little over priced for what you get in terms of size and amenities (a very small TV for example).

Simply best seagood you can find around! thee is a lovely view of the fjord outside the window if you fancy it.

This is out of this world, I feel so relaxed when I have stayed in this hotel, it's food is to die for with an atmosphere that is difficult to explain and I can't wait till I hopefully return again at the end of March 2015. My ambition is to spend New Year on the Appin Peninsula. Sorry I forgot to mention the seafood platter.

This is what every restaurant should be like; smart, classic and quality. This review is based only on the superb food that we ate here; however, I would imagine that if they carried their confident, professional, prompt and polite service in their restaurant over to the hotel side of the business, then this would be a marvellous place to stay as well. The locale is certainly amazingly beautiful by day and tranquil by night. I could happily have devoured any of the courses that our party of four were served with; the dishes we chose included scallops, smoked salmon and trout pate, ham hock terrine, mussels, steak and langoustines and baked salmon. The desserts were similarly delicious; lemon and mango sorbet and sticky toffee pudding were chosen. All the portions were generous. The meal was excellent value. It came to just under fifty pounds a head for four people, including drinks and three courses, and the food was of a very, very high standard, being prepared with a real understanding of how to treat the ingredients. This was fresh and quality produce being cooked and served with style and assuredness. We were extremely happy to find ourselves here. The ambience when we visited at half past eight on a saturday evening was warm; a pleasant mix of guests, tourists and local clientele getting down to business at the bar. For the food and the service, five well deserved stars go to the Pierhouse Hotel. We will definitely be returning some day in the future.

Wedding what a day! on the 22nd September 2013 Andy and Norma got married at the Pier House Port Appin. The owners and management especially Caroline were fantastic our day was so special. The meal was memorable the piper and ceilidh band finishing around 1.30am and to top it off the weather was brilliant. We had 36 guests and if anyone out there is looking for the most wonderful setting and romantic place for your wedding then this is the place for you. Lunch special of plaice was outstanding—and the free Wi-Fi reaches the moorings conveniently provided for visiting yachts.

We had a lovely meal. The restaurant was warm and friendly. The quality of the food was very good. The surf and turf although not cheap (£38) was excellent. The location is first rate; right on the shore of the Loch. Highly recommended.
