Single bed in 3 bed room was extreemly unfomfortable and very dusty. So everything was fine at the hotel until the second night when the hotel manager came banging on my friends door shouting and swearing about an iron that was not put back on the landing after it was used even tho we did not used the iron and was never in our room. We apologised and explained that we did not use the iron but he already knew that and continued to keep blaming us. Then when he finally left we heard more shouting where he had gone next door and started shouting and swearing again to the people who did forget to put it back even tho they too apologised. I went in to see what was going on where I was given the dirtiest look by the manager and then I was shouted at for it. Then the next morning I come down to have breakfast where I hear the manager still shouting about the iron. I recommend if u choose to stay here bring your own iron or remember to put it back before the owner comes storming in.

For the price, this is a nice little b and b. Stayed in single ensuite rooms. Bathrooms were a bit small but functional. Breakfast was very good, catering for vegetarians too. Proprietor was friendly, helpful and lovely. Car parking was no extra cost as hotel provides permits free for the duration of your stay. We stayed on a very hot weekend in July and the rooms were very hot, so I think a fan in the room would have been welcome, other than this I would stay again as it's very close to the city but not right in the centre so no problems with noise when sleeping.

We found The Avenue Hotel very nice and comfortable, room very clean and breakfast was really good cooked by hotel owner. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Will definitely use again Many thanks.
