Great location, in the middle of the world famous nightlife of Newcastle. Knowledgeable staff can advise you on the nicest places to eat and drink.

Pretty awesome for a budget hotel. Their beds are super comfortable and the shower is amazing. Even the breakfast served is delicious. Would definitely recommend it if you are on a budget but prefer the comfort.

The hotel was ideally located for visiting Newcastle town centre. It is less than 10 minutes walk from the train station. The hotel is stylishly decorated in dark wood and teal. We were welcomed by pleasant staff happy to do things like book taxis and get us extra towels. The room we had (I imagine a fairly typical double room) was not huge but was large enough for both of us to get dressed up to go out on the town. There's tea and coffee stuff in a cabinet, digital terrestrial tv, the bathroom was nice, shower was good and I'd happily stay there again. We did not eat at the hotel, so I can't comment but it looked fine. Also no phone in the room but the Wi-Fi was free. But when was the last time you used a hotel room phone? To sum up: Staff — helpful, room — clean, location — good.

Awful rooms. No air conditioning, tiny bed, appalling view, horrible wood chip wallpaper. The bedrooms here are seriously small — almost worth a trip to see the state of it! Lobby was stunning! Staff were friendly, but made several mistakes — my company give me a dinner allowance the chap at reception said “That’s nice, restaurant and bar are just over to your left” I went over, the barmaid said “We don’t have a restaurant and you can’t charge drinks to your room”

Really nice hotel, from the moment you walk in it has a relaxed atmosphere then the room was far better than what I expected and a comfy bed. No complaints about the bar or the reception staff, so would definitely use again. Apparently its a German company owned hotel and they definitely know how to do it.

Lovely hotel in the heart of Newcastle. Despite the room being quite small the bed was amazing! We slept so soundly. The staff were very friendly and the bar looked awesome even though we didn't get w chance to use it.

The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The location is amazing right in the center of town near a number of restaurants, pubs, and shops. The rooms are nicely furnished if a bit on the small side. The rates were very reasonable! My only real complaint is that our room was blisteringly hot. I understand the weather was unseasonably warm, but the air con made very little difference. The staff did provide a fan that helped a bit, though. Highly recommend this if you're in Newcastle.

Bit of a hidden gem this one. It’s never come up before In my searches for hotels in Newcastle. This was booked by a friend in a group booking for a birthday night out and I wasn’t disappointed. The entrance and reception area were lovely and the room just what we needed. Clean and tidy and a comfy bed with the best pillows ever. Will definitely be back.

I booked this hotel months in advance for the Ed Sheeran concert in June as I had seen it was a good location and good reviews. I can honestly the location was far better than I had imagined very central literally 5 mins walk from everywhere. The staff are lovely, beds were very comfy and the garden area is great to relax with a wine or Juice! I would highly recommend!

I'm not sure why this is listed as a budget hotel as for the price you pay for the room you got an amazing quality room with the window a most of the rooms tea and coffee facilities hairdryers and a beautiful bar area with a patio area that catches the sun all day. It's a conveniently located Hotel a very short walk to the main part of town. The breakfast is continental Style I don't usually get it as I prefer the cooked breakfast but they do normally have boiled eggs with a small personal touch the staff wright good morning on each egg! Even though you're close to the town centre the hotel itself is very quiet and I've always found I get a good night's sleep. The reason I marking them down is because I always stay for work and they are never able to process the credit card payments with my office over the phone and there is always an issue when I turn up.

So… I kind of thought this was a going to be a budget, ‘no frills’, you get what you pay for and you don’t pay much sort of spot. It was awesome. This place is far nicer that the Hilton. Excellent staff with perfect customer service we’re at all the service points. There’s a cool bar in the lobby with a nice beer selection that undercuts surrounding pubs. I’ll stay here whenever I’m in the town from now on.

Surprisingly great value for money. Amazing service and really no fuss. They even have a great lobby where you can enjoy drinks and get your own food if you want. Rooms are fantastically clean and modern looking. Great choice overall.

Nice hotel and excellent value for money at £59 per night. Decor is modern and contemporary and feels up market. Rooms are of a good standard. Beds are comfy. There is no food served other than toasties but you can go across the road and they give you a 20% discount if you show your room key.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Motel One in Newcastle. I've stayed at other Motel One venues in the past and always found them to be excellent. The staff were very friendly and check in was quick and easy. The room was clean and tidy and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. I would say that the room was slightly cold — the heating didn't seem to be working that well and the quilt was quite thin to say it was winter in Newcastle. There was a red stain on the carpet (looked like lipstick or nail varnish) which was a little unpleasant but nothing major. The area outside our room was somewhat noisy (bins being banged throughout the night) but nothing too disturbing. At check out there was a rather large queue and only 1 member of staff at the desk which delayed us slightly. The same applied when we came to collect the baggage we had left later in the day. Apart from these minor issues, it was an enjoyable and comfortable stay.

We have stayed at this hotel before. The location is excellent for the city center. Very friendly reception staff, easy check in. Room was very clean and comfortable. We didn't eat there as the continental breakfast isn't for us but the bar area is very modern and has a nice relaxed atmosphere. Great value for money for a city center hotel.

Recently stayed for 1 night in Motel One Newcastle. The hotel was very nice. The room we stayed in really good, enough room for 2 people. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel was perfect, 5 minutes from train station (once we knew where we were) and close to a good selection of bars and restaurants. Our group was about 12 people and everyone liked the hotel and stylish design. Would have give it 10 bit didnt have breakfast which I heard were good. Would recommend to anyone heading to Newcastle to stay here. Cheers.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Checking in took an age, but it got better after that. Staff actually very good and helpful. Room was excellent apart from slightly leaky shower unit in teeny-tiny bathroom. Good place right in the thick of it. Go for it.

Great hotel and well situated for a night out/shopping in Newcastle. Hotel was modern, clean and tidy both in the room and the general areas of the hotel. Only minor negative point was that the bathroom was cold and could have done with under floor heating or a radiator in the room we stayed in. But this didn't detract from an enjoyable stay. Room was quiet and on two levels (lounge and bedroom) each with LCD TV. Bed was big and comfortable. The staff were extremely helpful. Definitely stop here again on next visit to Newcastle.

Hotel is centrally located for shopping, and restaurants. Rooms small and compact, but fine for one nights stay — clean and well presented. Went to bar for one drink, the guy working needed a personality transplant, everything seemed too much bother! We had booked a Room Only rate, but we're charged for breakfast at check-in, decided just to go with it … wished we hadn't, certainly not worth it, and not much to choose from. Mentioned to reception my issue regarding breakfast when checking out, but I was basically ignored. Might return, but definitely on room only rate.

Excellent value for money hotel. It has a lovely contemporary feel along with some lovely old architecture. My room was great, very clean and comfortable. Bed was really comfy. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Very near to the station and shopping centre.

Won a night in this hotel recently so I took my niece who is 6 (as little mix were on this night). I was over the moon with the hotel! There was a Spanish guy on reception and he couldn't have been nicer, so helpful and chatty — even giving my niece sweets from the bowl on the counter. Our room was quite small but had a lovely view as we were on the top floor and we could view all the firework displays! The bed was comfy and clean and bathroom had a walk in shower. I would have liked a phone in the room as it would have made me feel a little safer, and I needed an alarm call on the morning, however, overall we had s great time and would definitely recommend!

My whole stay was really pleasant. Room was better than I expected. Perfect location, and couldn't hear a noise (located in the city centre, party city) and very nice staff. Bargain for the price. The only reason I put a 9 and not a 10 was the fact that I found some of the towels/spoon not cleaned at all after their daily check-up one day (only that one day, so didn't mind at all). Overall, was perfect — would come back.

What a fantastic hotel! I stayed here for business over two weekends and I was thoroughly impressed. The location is about as perfect as you could ask for, it is right in the centre but I didn't hear a thing at night and slept incredibly soundly. The room was of a good standard, impeccably clean and very well laid out. The bed was amazingly comfortable and the decoration was both in the room but especially the lobby beautiful comfortable and relaxing. ALL the staff were extremely friendly, talkative and helpful with excellent knowledge of the surrounding areas and pointed me in the best direction for local businesses to eat/ drink. Juan on reception was without doubt one of the best front of house staff I have ever experienced, he treated all guests with the same dedicated professional welcome and ensured that each person who was checked was left feeling that they were home from home and really went the extra mile. This made it a richer experience that you do not get from what is essentially a budget hotel.

Lovely clean room! Bed was massive and super comfy and the shower was amazing! Very central with only a short walk from train station, shopping, bars and restaurants! When leaving the male staff member we encountered was a breath of fresh air! Didn’t have breakfast as would have preferred a cooked breakfast rather than continental. Other than that amazing stay and would highly recommend.

First time I have stayed at any Motel One. Excellent experience: welcoming arrival, good ground floor reception/bar/dining area, really comfy bed, big shower, flatscreen TV (that stretched my limited technical skills), and a decent continental style breakfast. Only two remarks: breakfast buffet was a little chaotic (need wider buffet area for the 8.15am rush), and front facing bedroom windows don't quite shut out those alcohol fuelled aspiring X factor candidates at 3.30am (whereas the back facing bedrooms will be fine). This brand pitches at the Premier Inn segment of the budget market, but with better quality bedrooms and en suites. I paid about £60 for room and breakfast. I will definitely return when next in Newcastle.

Stayed here for 3 nights. We arrived late at night however we were checked in quickly and were even given a upgraded room. The room was huge and spacious. The bathroom was very modern however it was a tight squeeze sometimes. We also had the breakfast in the morning which was adequate enough however it would of been nice for some hot options too. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would return again.

We had a great two night stay here at the weekend. Staff we helpful and welcoming, room was spotless and had everything we could need. It was quiet and a good temperature. The bar and lounge areas were lovely, very stylish and looked v good. The bar was reasonably priced and open late which was good. Breakfast was also good, whilst it sounded expensive we ate our fill and definitely decided it was good value by the time we finished! We will stay again!

The staff could not have been more helpful. I arrived after midnight and had to leave by 5.30am. I had a breakfast hamper prepared for me and the room was far better and quieter than many I have paid more for. Overall the experience was far too brief but extremely pleasant.

Well positioned, within walking distance of station and shops. Clean room and very comfortable bed. The decor is good, and feels like a top class hotel, at a very good price. Just thought the breakfast was over priced for a continental style meal Just need to mention, that there is lively bar at the back of the hotel, which was noisy on Saturday night until 1am, so if you are a light sleeper, and are not in Newcastle to 'party', then you might want to avoid hotels in the city centre!

Motel One has a calm and pleasant communal area. The staff are welcoming and efficient. The rooms are clean and comfortable. There is nothing I would wish to improve. I would recommend it to anyone.

Booked this hotel for the convenience of where it was situated and wasn't holding out much hope due to it being called a Motel and secondly due to the price I paid. How wrong was I… when you walk up to the hotel it is located in a cobbled side road with lots of trendy bars surrounding it, as you walk through the front door it's hard not to be taken aback with the exposed brick ceiling and the trendy reception and bar area. I am used to staying in Crowne Plazza, Holiday Inn and premier Inn but from now on I will be looking out for this chain as even though the rooms are only £59 per night they are extremely comfy, the one I had was a Kingsize Bed with Big Comfy Pillows.

The hotel lobby is really nice and well decorated. The room was good, the mattress is excellent but pillows are not good. Would prefer a real king size bed instead of 2 single beds put together. I missed having a telephone in the room to call reception as our room was not cleaned the first day and needed more towels. The curtains are really terrible and was hard to sleep during the morning.

I booked a king size room as there were no standard ones left. When we arrived we were told we'd been given a free 'upgrade' to a more spacious room. This was in the less modern part of the hotel where the rooms aren't quite as nice, and when we entered the room there was a musty smell of old cigarette smoke. The bed was large but was in fact two singles pushed together, with two separate duvets. None of this ruined our stay and we were comfortable, but I've previously stayed in the cheapest rooms and had a great experience. Disappointing to pay more, then get a free upgrade, and still have a poorer experience!

What a privilege to stay at Motel One! A surprisingly big hotel right in the centre of Newcastle Upon Tyne. We loved the decor — so modern, welcoming and clean aswell as huge Wall art of Newcastle landmarks. The bed was really comfortable and loved the compact cupboards. I particularly liked the fish TV screen and the smell of the organic bathrooms toiletries (forgot to write down make! ). We had a fabulous breakfast in the morning — a great selection of food. Thanks to the friendly and helpful staff. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are visiting the toon.

Really great hotel! Friendly, helpful and polite staff at reception, bar area and at breakfast. We were given an upgraded room on arrival which was a lovely surprise. The whole hotel was immaculately clean and although it was busy, it was very quiet all through the night. Set back from the main street was a bonus and only 5 mins walk from the station was perfect. The room was a little on the small side which meant there was no wardrobe or drawers to store belongings, but it was well maintained and the bathroom was clean and tidy. Went out of the hotel for a hot breakfast however, it was awful! So if you have the capacity to expand to a hot breakfast it's a good idea! Thanks so much for a lovely stay.

This is an outstanding hotel for the price — it did not feel like a budget hotel at all. The room was compact but well designed with modern decor, and it had great sound-proofing. Even though the hotel is in the middle of a very busy area surrounded by bars, I had two blissfully undisturbed nights of sleep. The bed was comfy, the bathroom was beautifully designed with luxurious, fluffy white towels, changed daily. The TV was excellent. The location is brilliant — right in the heart of the city and five minutes walk from everything. The design of the hotel is wonderful — modern, stylish with a touch of industrial chic. The staff were friendly and so helpful I felt as though they couldn't do enough for us — early check in was no problem and free of charge, and they were also happy to look after our bags after check out time. I've stayed all over the country in budget hotels and in my opinion, this is the best I've come across yet. An excellent hotel giving amazing value for money.

Excellent hotel. What a little gem in the middle of Newcastle. Perfect location for all the main areas as well as an easy walk to St James' Park and the train station. Great staff, good rooms for a 'dump bags and sleep later' stay. Will definitely stay here or at one of the other Motel Ones in the future.

Excellent reception staff. Lovely to relax in a calm bar after a night out watching the late night revelry continuing outside. Very clean if compact rooms with shower room that felt luxurious. Water not up to making decent tea.

Have stayed a number of times, including three separate visits in the last two weeks so I am clearly a fan. The hotel offers a very good balance between price and amenity and is very well located. I did have a couple of issues this time, with the internet and a fault in my room, but the reception staff were brilliant. I would single out Hayley who was patient and helpful and went the extra mile to sort everything out. Many thanks.

A little difficult with special requests or extended checkouts; nothing is complementary but this is what you would expect from a 3 star hotel. Rooms were a little small but clean and cosy. Air con wasn't doing it's job. Locations is good even though tucked away in a back street, All main city centre locations are within close proximity. Overall service was good and staff very welcoming. Definitely a good location to stay a night whilst on business. Could do with more snack options!

It is always a pleasure to stay here. Very tranquil and easy going. Breakfast is excellent especially if you are not keen on fry ups! I was hoping I could control the air con but it appeared to be automatic as soon as key fob was in switch. I have come away with really bad sinus as a result as I seem to have an allergy to air con. Otherwise no complaints. The shower head this time was a bit faulty in that the join was not perfect and water was spurting out at all angles into my face (trying to shower but not wash my hair! ). I like the hand soap and shower pumps, more eco and smell good. Towels excellent, plump and nice smaller size. I am still not sure what the difference is between an historic room and an ordinary room (I have been in both and can only say that the non historic room was slightly smaller)

Warm welcome on arrival. Room compact but well designed — ideal for one night stay. Instant hot water in the bathroom. Bed comfy. Would have been nice to have additional waste bin in bedroom. Breakfast had excellent choice for me as a vegetarian — bread and rolls were very fresh. Will book again!

Great stay at Motel One Newcastle. This was second time we stayed. Ideal location close to Metro and central station and within walking distance of many restaurants and bars. We were upgraded to a lovely room on 5th floor giving good views towards the Quays. Very comfortable beds everything you need with no fuss!. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Enjoyed the hotel bar huge windows on to the street and funky seating loved the quiet area to right of main door too. We had breakfast on one morning good selection of juices, and fresh breads and jams. We find it meets all of our needs in a modern way and would definitely stay again.

Good hotel, the only bad thing is that the breakfast is very expensive to me to look like.
