Personally I wouldn't rate it a 1, terrible customer service. We Had two rooms booked for 09.09.22 for two nights for two couples since November 2021. We have an event booked in Ipswich over the weekend, but thanks to Penta Hotel cancelling our booking less than 24hrs before we are due to arrive without any reasons as to why, leaving us without accommodation. Absolutely appalling and unacceptable behaviour! Had we done the same we would have been charged the full cost. Disgusting that they can get away with this! I would never recommend them. They have ruined our weekend feeling dissapointedis an understatement.

Penta hotel held my husbands 38th birthday they went way and beyond to sort things for me the food was great and we had a great time we will defo recommend and will defo stay again.

Amazing hotel would highlight recommend and be coming back.

Lovely people specially the chef from the restaurant very friendly people I like this things not to go somewhere and they don't say even hello. Thank you everyone 🥰

Very dog friendly. Super staff. Great room. Breakfast was a bit chaotic but they were fully booked.

Stayed in the Ipswich Pentahotel for one night. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Extra gestures went a long way, like an umbrella to walk back from the car park with and the little clean & protect boxes that contained mask, gloves, door pully and hand wipes.
Loved the arty theme too.
Room was reasonably price, location was also great only a short walk from the water and highstreets. Room was clean and we said it was the most comfortable beds we’ve slept in for a while.

Great hospitality, lovely people, made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived Security guard Linden was ever so cheerful and very easy to talk too. Made us feel welcome too. Loved the spot. Will definitely come back again soon.

This hotel has it all! 24hr bar, amazing breakfast, stylish and modern rooms. Best bit was the walk in shower. We even extended our stay to 1 more night as we just didn’t want to leave. 100% recommend this hotel in the future and will stay again.

Stayed here on our wedding night and once again since. Lovely hotel, wonderful atmosphere, brilliant food. Perfect getaway!

Good hotel, clean with a cosy ambiance. Great breakfast, and a billard table in The lobby. Good Music in the evenings. I had electrical problems in my room twice though, hence for the 4 stars.

Very dull grey corridors really not inviting room a/c very noisy but nothing like the noise from the quadrant for parking. It doubles as the smoking area people talking loudly throughout the night. Room price only average but £15.00 for a breakfast a complete rip off. We went without. When complained about the noise the management denied it happened and said the night shift manager had not said anything. So what about the customer being right?. Will not be going back.

A very nice hotel, not far from the Center. Nice service.

I stayed here recently with my girlfriend. The hotel is modern and funky compared to your usual low budget hotels. We did however have a problem with the room being that the window would not fully close meaning the outside noise kept us awake at night. We were given a new room in which the electrics did not work. We then had to move to another room. We did not receive an apology at that time and it was only until we went to check out that we were offered an apology from another member of staff and they waved the £8 parking charge.

Bad 2 nights stay here. Never again! Ruined the whole weekend away! Also do not reply to emails unless it’s for booking! Got there immediately discovered it was going to cost us £36 to park our cars for 2 nights! Got to room, showered an it flooded the room. Went down to eat in the restaurant an have have drinks. One of the meals came out burnt, so they ended up with no food. We ordered more cocktails to then be told they didn’t have the things to make them. We admitted defeat an went to our room. Then discovering the air wasn’t working properly rang reception they gave us instructions on how to do it still fan going crazy and loud with no heat! We was put in a room above a speaker attached to the ceiling which may I add only goes off for one and a half hours at 4am till 5.30. So if you don’t want or need much sleep perfect for you. Lack of sleep tired and a bit angry I go to reception to be told where our room was as they asked room number an pointed and said yes about that speaker! Gave us another room so here goes again moving things and jus wanting to sleep. The day was ruined as all to tired to do very much. That evening again music was still heard in the new room! To tired to care and glad to be going home the next day! Spoilt what was to be a lovely weekend away!

Rooms are nice. Bed is comfortable. TV is big and HD, with regular TV, premium movies and TV shows. There is a desk, 2 side tables, and storage for clothes. The bathroom is nice and they provide toiletries. I wish the push to flush wasn't behind the toilet. There needs to be better pillows for the bed. The side tables should be bigger. There should be a small fridge in the room.

Pretty hip hotel. It has a very trendy feel to it and the rooms were quiet clean and modern. Only problem would be the noise. We were on the first floor near the entrance and there was some noise from the people outside after a few drinks in the bar. Other than that, staff were very friendly and it was about 15/20mins wall to centre.

Room rates are fantastically low. Food and drinks at usual hotel high-prices. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend!

Really surprised. Hadn't heard of hotel and was booked by a friend, but rooms good and bar area really relaxed and chilled. Fully recommend and would definitely go back.

Welcoming staff nice room. Nice option with the 24hr bar if you want to use it also with a free pool table and PlayStation. Only drawback was price of breakfast for the two of us would been nearly as much to have breakfast as the room cost.

Really nice hotel great choice of TV programmes and free movies. Decent comfy size rooms. Only negative would be the cost of the breakfast and the bar prices are a little high for the area.

We got the Premium room with the PS4. It was basic. It didn't include a fridge or any toiletries but it was very spacious. The reception area was beautiful and the restaurant had great food with a great ambience. Is definitely good for a short stay.

Great deal on the price. Excellent ambience throughout. Quirky and chic. Rooms small but perfectly adequate and spotlessly clean. The dinner and the breakfast were really good quality with friendly efficient service. We went to a nearby pub and we didn't use the bar because there were no draft lagers. I'm sure they will put that right.

Nice enough rooms but the beds are hard. Funky decor in the main lounge (reception is the bar). However, service at the bar and for food is very very slow and lacklustre. The staff don't seem particularly invested in the place. The food is also hellishly expensive for the location, £28 for a fillet steak is bad enough but you will need to spend another £10 on sides if you want anything but a bare steak in your plate. The food is entirely average and portion sizes are small (the Mac and cheese looks like a side dish! ). Not a bad hotel but could do so much better.

Quirky atmosphere and a stocked bar with a PS4 and free pool table… What more do you need? The staff are friendly and helpful, even when they're busy. Great hotel.

We have just had a one night stay as it was my birthday. It was such a lovely experience, the hotel is very modern and very welcoming. Very clean and the staff were very helpful. The room was very comfortable, spacious. Everything that we could wish for and more. We will be definitely be coming again in the new year and would recommend it. Thank you.

I arrived at the Penta early evening and surprised at lack of parking in the immediate vicinity. They did say they had a plan but never found out what it was ended up parking outside my son's flat which was another parking nightmare but we won't go into that escapade. If you've never been to Ipswich before the parking is a nightmare. The Penta wanted £8 a night for parking which I found a bit of a cheek if your stopping in a hotel they should provide facilities. Staff were very friendly and the decor was quite retro but pleasant. The room was pleasant, and the bed comfy. We did order 2 cheese burgers and 2 drinks which was £36 I thought a bit pricey. Our room was facing the main road and was very noisy off the traffic, needs windows replacing, we thought one of the windows was open it was so loud. We didn't sample the breakfast went into town instead and had a full monty for £7.95 which was delicious. I would stay here again if we were off the main road in a quieter room.

This was our second visit to the hotel. We were working close by and needed a place to chill and relax after a hard day up and down ladders etc. The hotel is very warm and welcoming. It's very clean, staff are really good, food is excellent, rooms quite and comfortable. We will be back.

I have been trimmed a room for the disabled, without my knowledge. In addition, always without my knowledge (maybe I had not read the contract well? ), I have been blocked £200 on the account (any damage? ). Leaving out these inconveniences, very nice and convenient hotel to visit the city.

Modern hotel. Well designed with excellent rooms, nice open bar area with pool table. Food is made well and presented well.

Room had dirt on the walls, spider webs on the lights, dead flies in the window, staff was very unhelpful and locked some of my friends out of the room multiple times. The beds are very hard. Very expensive hotel that is done cheaply. Carpark is shady with children and many people around it constantly. Room service also kept knocking with a do not disturb sign on it and for a friend the room service walked into the room with the sign out front. Decent location within a 15 minute walk for subway etc. Avoid this place at all costs, sleeping on the streets or in your car would be better. 4 star hotel? They need to get checked again as this is absolutely ridiculous. I'd expect this from a 2 star hotel.

Wonderful hotel. Close to station. Not to far from Town Centre. If you get a cheap reservation here don't think twice. On my first visit to Ipswich I stayed here and was delighted I got a cheaper than usual reservation. Room was excellent. Toiletries were provided and replenished daily. Don't expect a good view. They might have some rooms which overlook the river but you probably won't get them for the cheaper reservation. They also have a restaurant. Looked cool but I had plans for eating at the Town Centre so didn't try their food.

Just finished a 3 night stay and will definitely come back lovely rooms, great food, love the decor in the bar/lounge area and the staff we re all lovely and couldn't do enough to insure we were happy, especially Craig on the bar Sunday evening very professional and friendly, thanks for a lovely stay.

Looks a bit ropey from the outside but once inside the door things change… has a cool atmosphere with a big bar which doubles as reception. Pool table. And funky music playing. Rooms are clean tidy, have air con and windows that open. The onlytjing thatvreally lets the hotel down is car parking.

The hotel is very good for a short stay. Rooms are basic but nicely decorated and very clean. Food was excellent and the staff very pleasant. The only problem is parking very limited and you have to park away from the hotel and walk back.

A dreadful experience from start to finish! Firstly, the booking process through your site is not great. There is nowhere telling people the check-in times and after ringing the number provided I was diverted to an answering machine stating that offices were closed at the weekend. Also there is no option to choose a double or twin room. Which I didn't think was an issue until I got to the hotel to find that me and my partner were put in twin beds. After approaching reception staff to query this, I was sarcastically told that I should push the beds together and nothing will be done about it before the staff member walked off. I was shocked with the lack of customer service and the effort that was put into helping solve a problem that a paying customer recieved. On the evening of our stay we invited some friends to the bar to play pool. Without us mentioning anything to them about our earlier issues with your staff, our friends returned to where we were sitting complaining to us about how rude the barstaff were and how they were being ignored whilst the staff were messing around with each other. The room was ok apart from the bed issue but in the morning, our door was opened by a member of staff who walked in on my and my partner without any clothes on. This was despite having the 'do not disturb' sign hanging on the door. Furious is an understatement of how we felt by the situation.

Pentahotel is very near to the Ipswich train station, Town center and bus station. It has a good restaurant and bar. The breakfast buffet is awesome with many options both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. Being gluten intolerant I even got gluten free bread in the breakfast. Room size is a bit small with no proper almirah in my room, no locker and no proper space for keeping my suitcase. It's good for people staying for a short term like a couple of nights.

A rather cool hotel. Nice bar/restaurant, plenty of varied seating, televisions and a PS4. Well appointed rooms with bedside sockets and amply sized desks. Great breakfast, some really nice stuff on offer e. G. Smoked salmon and banana/walnut loaf (alongside the obligatory full English).

Quirky decor in the public area, decent food (steaks, grills, pasta, pizza) at reasonable hotel prices. Rooms are basic but comfortable. Allow some extra time for check in and check out, and if you're driving the hotel car park fills up quickly.

Wasn't impressed. The hotel and bedrooms look nice but first of all parking is non existant. I was told by another inmate to drive around the town to the car park and then had to carry 4 bags for 10 mins to the hotel. Check in was very slow (waited approx 20 mins before even getting to the desk and there were only 2 couples in front of me). Due to my diet I am unable to have potatoes of any kind so I asked for extra veg with my steak and got a tomato with parsley on top. The prices on the menu are not clear and I refused to to pay the £28 for my steak and tomato, although that did include a vodka and diet coke! After eating, I waited to be asked if I wanted a dessert so I could request the bill and the waitor and waitress walked past numerous times and said nothing so I tried to leave and was shouted back to charge the bill to my room. In a nutshell, too fancy and not enough substance behind the showy front that is portrayed!

The hotel is situated about half a mile from the railway station, going out of town and on the other side of the river from the town centre. As you enter the hotel, you're presented with a nightclub-style bar immediately from the car park. Don't make the mistake of looking for the reception area — the bar is the reception desk. The otherwise seedy-looking area (presumably the interior designer was going for the "seventies brothel" look) is dark and oppressive, with a distinct aura of body odour. I checked my wallet was still in my pocket. The reception staff were overwhelmed by even a small number of guests and struggled with my check in. The room was pleasant enough — air conditioned with a good bed and a walk in shower. Breakfast was overrated, costing twice the price of an equivalent Travelodge. Overall, unless you have no other options, I'd avoid this hotel. I won't be staying there again.

Stayed here last night between business meetings. Highly recommend this place to anyone. The decor and was stylish and relaxing. The restaurant was nice I had the pentacheeseburger which was huge I couldn't eat it all. The wine was very expensive but nice. I slept well and the shower was great this morning. Excellent choice at breakfast. Perfect location to the train station. Would definitely stay here again.

Everything you'd need in your room, however the bed was rather loud and only slightly uncomfortable. Amazing downstairs bar with extremely quirky furnishings. The addition of a free pool table was an absolute treat. The only let down was the quality of the food, it was incredibly over priced for what was essentially supermarket oven food. All in all, we'll worth the stay as long as you're venturing out for your food.

Good hotel with a nice restaurant. The rooms are cleaned, comfortable with TV and a free access on a big choice of films and documentaries.

Nice smart hotel, friendly staff clean room. Free TV and Wi-Fi was a bonus and the buffet breakfast was delicious! Down sides. Parking is seriously limited and the bar was expensive.

Nice & Clean hotel with nice places to eat a short walk away. Very few places to park on site (which costs £8 per night) but the car park behind the hotel has reasonable rates.

Good food and decoration with friendly staff. The room was nice but a bit hot and there was nose from the main road.

Well it's cheap and you get what you pay for. The bar area is really nice and quirky but the rooms are very very basic.

Had a great time at the Pentahotel Ipswich. Really great decor and atmosphere. Good meal in the evening and awesome breakfast. Would highly recommend!

Great hotel. Great location. Great rooms and service. Shame about the quality of the beds that didn't quite come up to the standard of the rest of the hotel but didn't put me of too much.

I would expect a hotel like this in New York or London, but not in Ipswich. The effort that's gone into the design, brand and layout is fantastic. The reception / bar is slick, really cool and the service is helpful and polite. I only stayed for a night, and apart from the room temperature control being pretty weak, which docks a star in my review, everything else was spot on. Nice sized room, decent shower and a huge TV with lots of music channels. Breakfast was delicious and worth the £11 each that we paid. If I had to stay in Ipswich again, I'd choose this hotel for sure.
