Review of DoubleTree 4*

This hotel was the biggest dissapointment of them all. I was booked in for two nights but only stayed one. I dont like to complain because im young and dont feel I have the right to be picky. However this hotel took the biscuit. I arrived and the staff seemed to be a little pretentious and I wasnt even told how to find my room. Then to actually follow the signs for the rooms you have to navigate a maze. There is a serious issue with the layout I believe. I find my room eventually and I am at first glance very happy. I have desk space, good size bed, balcony. On further inspection I find one complimentary water bottle empty, the floor a bit dirty and the room needing a bit of a dusting over. The bathroom was small and what really surprised me was the left of poo in the toilet. It confirmed that the room had not been properly cleaned. Service I would not expect to encounter in a four star hotel. I had to then check the bed and esnure that was okay, which luckily it was. I went down for dinner and was able to get a seat in the restuarante. I had looked at the menu for about 5 seconds when I received a text and went to look at my phone. The waiter thought this meant I had decided so probed my for an order after only just sitting down. I was informed at reception or by the restaurante staff that there would be some sort of party happening downstairs and thus the band were practicing. The noise was not pleasent. I order fish and chips which was over priced and tasteless. Back to my room and due to the heat I had to have the balcony open despite the AC (which wasnt great either). The party proceeded to keep me awake for ages and I had to try anyway to get some rest. In the end I slept (poorly) and cancelled my second night. Overall it was a disappointment and I will not be staying here again. I do not reccomend this hotel. Also the reception staff decided that I would have to pre authorise my card despite my booking being bill back to capita. They claimed to not do that but in the end refunded my card. Very poor.
