On our way home from Abels harp. We stayed in the Foxglove hut. Room was lovely, but on one side of the bed was broken. Milk was off so we had no tea. The dinner was menu was not at all clear enough on prices. Lady said it would be £10 for both was in fact £29 for both! View and sunset was lovely! Breakfast my partner didn't like somethings on the full English but instead of adding extra of bacon etc, he had one sausage, one bacon and one hasbrown. Such small tweaks need to be made.

Booked to go here last year through a deal on wowcher, cost £100. Got a phone call a week before from Abel’s Harp to cancel my trip as the manager had a stroke which I completely understand so not at all annoyed by that. I was told on the phone that I would receive a full refund in the next couple weeks. I have phoned since only to be fobbed off or the phone not answered. I have emailed and been ignored and still had no refund. Not happy in the slightest and wouldn’t recommend going. I didn’t even get there and have had a bad experience. Poorly run! Disappointing as my friend and I planned on rebooking once it was reopened.

Girlfriend booked through Groupon, and we booked up from Saturday to Monday just gone. We stayed in the garden king ensuite room and it was amazing. On arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady at reception we booked in for afternoon tea and she showed us to our room. The room was amazing proper shabby chick. The layout was perfect. The bed was comfy, we were provided with multiply fresh towels and shower gels etc. Complimentary tea, coffee, milk and sugar. The meals we had steak and fish and chips were cooked to a high standard and were perfect the barman there was so friendly and polite. We didn't go in the hotub as when we did people were in there. The views were amazing and plenty of country in sight. Despite all the terrible reviews on here and trip advisor this hotel is perfect for that weekend break. The bad reviews on here are pathetic I know people are all entitled to their own opinion but some were out of order. All staff were respectful and kind and would recommend to anyone. The whole place inside and out is clean and tidy. Yes you may have to travel more than a mile to the nearest shop but get over it. The only thing I can say bad about the place were the price of meals but that is understandable as all food is cooked fresh and to a quality standard.

The first impression was satisfactory as the location is impressive but location asides this was a very disappointing experience and an example of a place putting profit ahead of quality or customer experience. The room was poor quality (hunt room) with a cheap and soft mattress, questionable decor and poor air circulation, the provision is truly bare minimum and just looks cheap and nasty. The food was awful at dinner and comes at a price which was far too high, avoid the food. The bar was a joke and had no selection, it is again far too expensive for cheap fizz from what looked like a budget plastic bottle. The above goes some way to state the short comings but there is no doubt more. My major issue though is this place fails to accept any fault and deflects the blame throughout. No doubt they will again here. We made the decision to cut our break short on the first night to return home. I would not return or recommend this place.

Lovely place in the middle of nowhere, so peaceful and relaxing. Really enjoyed our stay and our dip in the hot tub. Food was fabulous and they couldn't be more accommodating for us and our 1 year old. Would definitely recommend and visit again. Thank you for a great stay.

Just returned from a weekend at abels harp. Beautiful set up. Quaint unique and informal. Great value for money too. Sam's a great manager. Working hard to improve touches around the place. The view from the hot tub was stunning. Quiet peaceful plenty of walks and sights to see around the area. Great value. See you all again in September Emma and Mitch Callow room.

We are staying here for the night in a log cabin. Best place we have stayed for a while! So cosy and warm welcome from staff. Food is really really nice best steak we have eaten. Would 100% recommend.

Loved it, night away for me and my wife, very steep hill to get to the hotel, lovely food and drink. Lovely room (callow), would definately go again. Thank you too all the staff for a wonderful night.

Wonderful night away. Secluded (easy to find though) but with enough food and drink to keep us happy. Also has a hot tub! All the staff were amazing. I recommend the Turkish Delight cocktail.

Awesome little place for a getaway. Lots of walks nearby, cool little glamping pods and brilliant staff. Breakfast was delicious and good choices. Manager always happy to help whatever you need. Only let down is walk to the toilets/shower facilities to get water and go toilet in the night!

I stayed in one of the glamping pods and it is a brilliant stay it is basic but works great for escaping the rush and electrics of the modern world. Amazing views as it based at the top of a hill. The food in the restaurant is top and not high price either. Ive never stayed in a hotel where I have had to share a shower but the facilities and place in general felt really clean. The host was brilliant and really welcoming thanks.

Amazing and polite staff, Amazing place and views, Great place to just relax and do nothing, although there is Shrewsbury Dana Prison that I definitely recommend. Also the breakfast and Afternoon Tea was delicious, not much to choose from on the dinner menu. We stayed in a glamping shed and it was really nice and warm with a hot tub right next to us which was ideal, the bed was a bit uncomfortable so not a great nights sleep. Other then that I highly recommend a couple days away here.

Lovely owners, very hospitable. The room was very small but cosy and warm. The food was ok, beautifully presented but there wasn't much of it and the cakes at the afternoon tea were shop bought which was disappointing.

Lovely quirky vintage eclectic hotel I love love love the location hot tub and rooms got as a wowcher and was a bargain for stay afternoon tea and breakfast staff were so lovely but do think the food needs an upgrade more fresh made and less things like cheap marg in sandwiches sorry but you can taste it in the evening we had steak for dinner the steak and salad were delicious but however ordered peppercorn sauce and the chef obviously didn’t know what this was as it was just like really runny milk with butter n pepper missing beef stock and stuff which was a shame but we sent back the sauce and weren’t charged which is fair enough. Breakfast is cheap sausages etc but it’s acceptable same as the afternoon tea cheap shop Bought but ok but could be so much nicer so it’s a shame just a little more spent and effort could b so lovely but the staff and the hotel it’self are lovely so helpful such a beautiful location beautiful rooms and lovely n clean with all things you could want comfy beds so overall great stay.

Got nice Ice cold bottle lemon aid here whilst walking coast to coast on the cross Britain way this year and I think may have when I walked John o' groats to lands end back in 2014. Thanks was much needed on very hot day.

I was disappointed with Abel's Harp. The walls were very thin and you could hear people in the next room. The bar ran out of draught beer and only had a few spirits available. Breakfast was disappointing also. We cut short our stay because of these issues.

Lovely place, with a really laid back atmosphere. The food was excellent, the owners treated us like members of the family, and were friendly and happy to chat. Our room was charmingly decorated and very light and airy feeling. The only down side was it was a bit chilly, due to an issue with the heating, but they had put a nice little electric stove fire in the room, and that worked a treat. We will be going back there for glamping in the summer, without a doubt.

There are a number of negatives I could point out about this hotel, instead I would an overview of them. Shower needs a little TLC, room beverages require checking daily and a coiled extension lead in the room is a no no. The manager and his wife are extremely friendly and helpful. The location is nice and isolated, with great views.

We were at Abel's Harp for my sons wedding on Saturday 12th and we had a wonderful time. They people who run it could not have been more helpful and so kind to all the children who were there. Especially their own children who helped to entertain them and make sure they were safe. The food was lovely and its a really quirky place with beautiful views over the Shropshire countryside. The people who run it have only been there 4 months and I am sure they will keep improving it and lits of plans they were all so hard working and friendly including the young lady who cooked breakfast. Sorry didn't get name. She also waitressed cleaned rooms etc. Multi tasking was what they all did. Thanks again for an amazing day.

We went to view this venue for a wedding and booked it the next day. Amazing view overlooking the whole valley. Quirky decorations everywhere and a great relaxed atmosphere. Hosts are very warm and welcoming.

Stayed for 1 night re wedding anniversary. If you don't know the area a sat nav is a must. Beautiful remote setting overlooking the Welsh hills. Great to use an outdoor hot tub that overlooks the valley. For £59 we found it good value on woucher. On arrival we had a large afternoon tea, a mini picnic table laden with sandwiches and cakes! As we couldn't eat it all the guy offered us a takeaway box. There isn't a huge choice of food on the menu but the food and service are good. It looks like a clean country style guest house. On the down side the matress felt very warn as there were a couple of dents in it. Walls are thin so ear plugs advisable. The TV was temperamental and the two bedside lamps didn't work. No doubt it is hard work for a couple to run this place and we appreciated their friendly hospitality. Hope to visit again.

Lovely setting and surroundings. Comfortable and clean. Our room was very noisy. No soundproofing. Could hear all the showers on the floor, our neighbours on the loo and woken well before 8am by noise from the kitchen/dining room. Food was forgettable and minimal portions served without a smile or offer of any condiments and no choice of white or brown toast. Make your own tea from a flask of hot water. How hard would a teapot be really?

What a gorgeous little place this is! Stunning views from everywhere you look. The hotel itself is so quaint and quirky, you will definitely want your camera at the ready. The staff were great, extremely helpful and the food was lush! We staying in a glamping chalet but would love to go again and stay in the hotel itself next time. Totally recommend a visit here.

Small and quirky hotel but really nice.

What a lovely little find! Had the pleasure of attending a wedding here and it was lovely! The venue is stunning and the food was delightful! Would recommend to anyone and the staff were fantastic and accommodating.
