Lovely place, gonna be here for a month, have been here for 2 weeks before. Only issues are the Wi-Fi seems week, the hot water never gets very hot, and the pillows are pretty flat. UPDATE EDIT: My review was originally 4 star. It took no more than 2 hours for the 4* review to be seen and addressed by the staff and The Maids Head. They had addressed all my concerns in such a timely manor. I was extremely impressed with the staff and service. This is what keeps me coming back to this hotel!

Great hotel. Comfortable beds (although could do with better z-beds). Didn't sleep very well although that is my own fault. Breakfast was great. Not too noisy outside. Very helpful and friendly staff. Thouroghly enjoyed my stay!

The oldest hotel (800 years old! ) in the UK, the Maids Head is a lovely hotel. A very good restaurant for breakfast or dinner, great food and friendly, helpful staff. My only word of warning is that, being an old building, there are a lot of steps to negotiate to reach the rooms. It is NOT a place for anyone who uses a wheelchair!

Bit of a late review, but I visited a couple of Christmases ago with work for the 'Xmas Do'. It did everything it needed to for the price — fair food, good service, nice entertainment and a good crowd. Drinks were relatively reasonably priced and there was a good selection of beer/wine/spirits. So, as far as work parties go, I'd recommend for a fair evening out at a price that won't break the bank.

Newly refurbished room. Lovely breakfast close to a lovely river walk and pubs and shopping and places to eat.

High quality hotel in historical building, very kind personnel and central location. Not even too expensive for a 4stars.

Stayed two nights breakfast was unbelievable choice and selection at a fixed price. Room was very good loved local pictures view in bathroom and free use of computer and Wi-Fi staff were very professional and helpful being independent hotel found it an excellent place to stay.

Nice place. Good service. I prefer kooky, places worth crooked ceilings and floors just for the character and ambience. Biggest complaint, why were all the radiators turned up so high? It was uncomfortably hot even with the heat off and the window open. I recommend that they ask the guest their temperature preference before checking in, either through email, text, or voice call.

I filmed a wedding here just before Christmas and it was magical. The were very helpful to me and as far as I could tell they did everything in their power to make the day a special as possible for the bride and groom. They even had a snow machine. The food was also excellent.

Had a lovely night in the Paston suite. Would definitely stay again.

Room was OK, TV outdated and channels didn't work properly, mugs had lipstick marks on them still, and sheets had holes. At night, the sounds of constant slamming doors woke me up every hour. Only main positive I have to add is the breakfast was nice. Staff were friendly.

Beautiful historic hotel with super helpful staff! On arrival we were greated and shown to our room by a lovely lady who was very welcoming and and helpful (we didnt get her name but she said she hadnt worked there long), we stayed for one night in a lovely suite, everywhere was very clean and the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was also very clean with a bath and a big powerful shower, we had breakfast included which we had delivered to our room it was really good quality and more then enough to fill you up! We had a great sleep and a very enjoyable stay. I would 100% recommend staying here if your visiting Norwich. Thankyou for our lovely stay :)

Great city centre location. Room was spacious. Ipad in room was a different touch. Room was warm and comfortable. Only slight knock would be that it wasnt a true double bed but 2 singles joined together.

The relaxed, comfortable and casual atmosphere of the Hotel's bar makes it a haven for a quick drink with friends or a more determined effort to set the world to right over a few pints. The selection local Real Ales includes one produced for the Pub, and is complimented by an impressive range of other drinks. As one would expect of this hotel, the staff are professional, courteous and attentive.

We went for afternoon tea and were delighted with the selection. A fairly standard selection of sandwiches (cucumber, ham and mustard, salmon and cream cheese etc. ) was followed by some really lovely scones (one fruit and one cheese), and topped off with some delicious cakes and desserts. The staff were really friendly and happy to assist with providing more drinks, and the prices were very reasonable. Toilets were clean and modern too, and the surroundings were relaxing. Would love to try them again for dinner next time.

A superb, luxurious hotel. The rooms are large and clean with tablets telling you local information. The tables in the lounge area buttons to summon waitresses! The hotel is well placed for the town (10 minutes walk)

The hotel was perfect. Location was very central. From reception to leaving. Room was just what we wanted and the staff were friendly and helpful. We only had one issue which was when we checked in we booked our breakfast for £12.50. When we got into the room there was an iPad which immediately asked if we wanted to book for a 20% discount (£10). This was disappointing. On checking out we asked about this and they had apparently had an offer the previous week. So I pointed out that someone should have removed this when it ran out as it was misleading.

I was very happy with the hotel, it is very lovely inside, we were pleasantly surprised as when we checked in we were given a free upgrade to a suite which was amazing. There was an iron, tea/coffee making facilities, a double sink in the bathroom, bathrobes were provided. They have an ipad in the room to order room service. The room was so clean and staff very friendly. The hotel is very close to toomblands which is full of lovely bars and restaurants. I will definitely return to the maids head.

We stayed at regency room. It was really nice, quiet and comfortable. The location was perfect!

Beautiful old building with more character than a Dickens novel. Staff great. Only attended an event there but the place is fabulous from what I saw.

Good clean rooms, comfortable and well equipped. We didn't try the bar or restaurant, but the staff were helpful and onsite parking was plentiful. Would visit again.

Nice bedrooms, en suite bathroom had a tiny, tiny basin. Lounge area refurbished and pleasant. Restaurant rather cold with not very impressive service.

Wonderful hotel — lovely staff who are friendly and answer all your questions. Good size room which was very comfortable. And great service at breakfast, with lots of options you can get cooked for you.

Good sized rooms in the centre of the city. Excellent staff and very good food. Restaurant atmosphere lacking when quiet. Rooms neutrally decorated and comfy beds.

Oldest hotel probably in the UK. Has an old and a new (renovated) wing. It's got a bar, a restaurant, parking lot, weddings area… it's like a maze and you feel like a little kid exploring it. The floors creek a bit but that is expected. I asked for a quiet room when booking and they honoured that request which I was happy about. The room was fair size, facing backyard, not a spectacular view but very quiet so if you plan to sleep in make sure you ask for a room not facing the street. If you put the "do not disturb" sign on, they leave a goodie bag with towels and amenities outside your room for you to replace them which I've never seen anywhere and it's a brilliant bonus.

Great mix of old and quaint versus modern and comfortable, excellent full Tea service, friendly help and well appointed rooms, very reasonable and located centrally to most of the town.

MH is a modern hotel in a clasic, very beautiful old building. Staff and Management both very professional and attentive, always feel welcomed for whatever reason I pop in, light lunch, business meeting or just a drink at their beautiful bar.

Stayed here the night before my wedding. Rooms lovely, staff lovely and breakfast lovely. Couldn't have asked for more.

Went to The Maids Head Hotel for afternoon tea, second time I've been, both times food and service was great. Lovely place too.

Visited for the office christmas meal. Food and service was fantastic would definitely viait again.

Rooms spotless, but very disgusted to catch cleaning maids useing hand towels to clean the toilet and pillow cases being used for dusting, not the maids fault as told by there management to use this method, did they not learn infection control, will not be going there again,

Absolutely loved our stay here Saturday night, the staff where fantastic, always seemed very happy and welcoming, the food was delicious delicious and great atmosphere, perfect location to get into the city and right next to the beautiful cathedral. We couldn't have aske for more and we very much look forward to going back there soon. Very highly recommended.

Stayed here for my birthday last year. Great position in Norwich to explore and spend! Lovely, characteristic room; helpful staff and free parking. I hope to return soon :).

Stayed here for wedding in 2013 and the rooms were of a decent standard. Reception team were helpful and friendly.

I loved the character of this place. Really nice place and will definitely be back here next time we're in the area.

I enjoyed staying here. I wasn't sure at first, as the layout of the hotel reminded me slightly of Faulty Towers, but the service and individualism proved much better than the average chain hotel I've stayed at with work. The food and wine from room service was good and filling, and breakfast was particularly good. No buffet, cooked to request. The only negative was that with no aircon, the room was particularly hot.

Very nice hotel with a great location near to Norwich cathedral and the city centre. Fortunately quite a few rooms are accessible via lift, with other rooms being quite difficult to access for older people who struggle with stairs. The air inside the rooms was very hot, with no fan and no air conditioning to help. The windows could not be fully opened either, which meant it was hard to cool down for the night. The bar is very nice, with a traditional pub decor and good service. Overall, it was a very nice stay in a nice hotel.

We stayed at the Maids Head Hotel on a freezing cold snowy March day, and after parking in their spacious free car park, we were pleased to find a warm welcome from the very helpful and professional receptionist. We had opted for their Historic Norwich package which for £150 per night had included free Thornton’s chocolates and a bottle of prosecco on arrival in one of their feature rooms, two free passes to Norwich castle, a £25 allowance per person towards dinner in their beautiful WinePress@Wensum restaurant, and breakfast for two also in the WinePress@Wensum restaurant the next morning. Well I must say, even though I am a right mean bugger I thought the package was good value for such a nice room and such excellent food. Every part of the hotel oozed class, from its pleasant comfortable sitting areas, to its beautiful spacious restaurant, and I would go so far as to say it was the finest hotel I had stayed in for year. The location was excellent, just a stone’s throw away from the Cathedral, and a five minute stroll from the city centre with its market and many shops. I honestly could not find a single fault with any aspect of our stay apart from, next time we stay with you, could you do something about cold wintery weather? Free Wi-Fi and parking, excellent staff, superior hotel and restaurant with exceptional food, means the Maids Head Hotel deserves your consideration next time you stay in Norwich. Highly recommended.
