Highly recommend afternoon tea at the Dukes Head, lovely setting, good quality at a very good price, this is our 2nd one and we will be coming back for more 😊

Good service and Professional friendly train staff.

Also lovely Cocktails! The Gin Tour deal with £25 for evening meal is great. Thd Gin Tour at Whatahoot very interesting snd great new Gins to try.

Today we held my daughters birthday party. The staff were AMAZING, the venue was clean, prepared and absolutely on point. The food and drink supplied were great, well presented and perfect. We could not hope for a better service. There were so many compliments from all the guests to how brilliant the staff were. Thank you again for all your support snd help all day.

Inexperienced bar staff that have zero customer service skills. Just fancied a quick drink before a night at the corn exchange so thought perfect we will pop in. When my wife asked “ oh is that Chase bottle at the back orange Gin? With a one word answer the member of staff replies no. So I repeated I think it is orange no? There are oranges on the bottle?
The response was it’s Seville marmalade.
So yes it is orange gin then. Not sure what the staff member thinks marmalade is made of? I think possibly there might be a need to brush up on spirit knowledge and also training how to deliver good service. Although I have to say it js a unique skill to be able to serve with little to no communication with the customer, other than rolling ones eyes and tutting.

Dinner, the night before my daughters wedding, great service and the food was very nice, hot and no waiting between courses. Staff very polite and friendly. Good atmosphere in the hotel. Well done.

Great location, nice bar and friendly staff. Good value. Easy access to the town centre. Food was very good after a relaxing session in the bar and lounge, we will certainly be returning for another stay.

What can I say about dukes head restaurant ate a 3 course meal treated by a lovely young lady call frankie wow a credit to dukes head lovely polite attentive waitress couldnt do enough for you I use to run a hotel restaurant and frankie is kind of staff waitress I would want believe me never met anyone so friendly attentive as frankie well done good work xx.

Putting on great events like 80s night disco with Steve Reed, it was fantastic! Great food in both restaurant and and bar. The staff are all friendly and Connor is exceptional at making cocktails!

Me and my husband had a meal here Saturday night the service was outstanding the food was amazing. Such a beautiful place will definitely be back. My husband is also going to recommend they have their Christmas work do there next year.

Just had lovely weekend here, staff always friendly and rooms are all very nice. Personal favourite is the feature room overlooking market place. Food is restaurant is beautiful.

Just celebrated my son's wedding there, perfect in every way. Staff friendly and helpful. Location perfect. Prices very good. Highly recommend this for a wedding venue.

Overpriced and over-rated for location! Room was large and clean. Restaurant food was ok but again overpriced and understaffed. Bar area was soul-less. Staff lacked warmth. £10 car park charge was unjustified for an unsecure/open to non residents area. Wouldn't recommend hotel or Kings Lynn!

Service was excellent at times and average at others. The food was very good but the portions were quite small. The hotel, including the bedroom, the was lovely.

Lunch on Thursday… Scone microwaved and turned to stone before my daughter could eat her sandwich. Coffee cold. Fish oily and wet in the middle. Dining room cheap looking furniture and decor! Not what I remember from days gone by… overpriced and tasteless food for big city prices! Come on Dukes Head I remember classy surroundings and good food that you didn't mind paying a little more for! Not a good experience and won't be repeating it, only upside was lovely smiling waitress.

Stay completely let down by room temperature, far too warm. Not fit for sleeping in. No air conditioning and no fans in the room. Appreciate it’s been hot but when you pay £100 a night you at least expect a fan. Checking out receptionist also didn’t ask how our stay was which is a common courtesy. Won’t be visiting again.

Friendly knowledgeable bar staff, great atmosphere, good selection of beers and lagers, a little bit pricey but worth it.

Staff and food lovely except the bar man in a blue waist jacket walking around with walkie talkie in one of his pockets got annoying over a taste card when we was paying!

The food was overpriced and mostly tasteless except for the hake, which was an incredibly small serve. They present below average food at 5 star servings and more than London pricing. The staff seemed rather aloof and there were multiple mix-ups with bills etc. To be fair we were a large group for dining. We asked for pillows twice and never received them. And they also charge a tenner an hour for late check-out which is ridiculous. Either the room is taken or it's not. Overall the hotel experience was fine but the food/dining staff was a complete disaster. Asked for disability accommodation and was told we would need to book two rooms. No thanks. We will definitely go elsewhere next time.

We sat at the outside tables at lunchtime. Took ages to get someone's attention in the hotel to out our order in and simply ages for the food to arrive. However, the food was really good and the club sandwich was absolutely enormous and delicious. It being Norfolk it contained turkey rather than chicken but that was fine. The staff were lovely and helpful.

Haven't visited the Dukes Head for around three years. Can't believe the transformation. Beautiful old building brought back to life. Well worth a visit. Only called in for coffee but will sample food next time.

Stayed in a suite but walls were rotten and there had been a serious leak that damaged the walls very badly and no one had bothered to repair! Then we noticed oily palm prints all over the wall (I can only imagine) told them about it and 12 hours later still no one cleaning it off. Request for An extra blanket ignored! Staff don’t speak good enough English to be on front desk You have to pay additionally for parking there per day No access to the hotel from the back of hotel where the car park is No freebies apart from tea and coffee (even the water and biscuits are chargeable) None of the remote controls for the TVs work properly I could go on by why bother if the hotel itself doesn’t even care…

Nice place. Bar is closing a bit early. Room number 8 la Small but functional. The personnel is very nice. The breakfast is huge with loads of very good food.

Very disappointing stay, Was expecting great things but it looks like the refurb only happened downstairs. Receptionist tried charging us again even though we paid in advance. Bedroom was tired and dated with mould/damp on the window wall. Room we were in was next to the lift so was very noisy and the fire alarm went off at 1.45 am. Went down to reception to find out was happening to be told everything is fine but no explanation given.

More of a 3 star hotel than the 4 it displays. Clean and comfortable room. Shower plug slow so flooded bathroom. A 'snack tray' with outrageous prices uses up desk space. On a quiet square, very little traffic in the evening.

I attended a professional event at the hotel, and the appearance and staff were of high standard. Very impressed.

Booked for a night during infamous beast from the east where it was impossible to drive due to the poor weather conditions and they refused to refund or offer an alternative date for a stay. Tried to blame Expedia when it was clearly the hotel that had the final say. Any reasonable hotel would have refunded this.

Unbelievable bad! No heating — noisy rooms — mold in the room after this recession, the manager reported.
I was offered another room which is now in a much better condition. Here you can stand it.
The pictures of the new room are attached and have nothing in common with the shortcomings of the other rooms.

The Dukes Head Hotel should be the first house in the square? You better make a bow about it. The only positive thing is the bed. This is really very convenient.

Lovely hotel, very calm atmosphere warm and friendly. Went for festive afternoon tea. Service was a bit slow, booked in for 2.30 but didn't get food till after 3. Food was excellent though.

Lovely hotel! I can't fault it. We stayed there using a Groupon and we had a free 3 course meal. The food was AMAZING. We wouldn't often eat in such a place but it was great produce and a well balanced plates. Breakfast was included too. That was okay. The staff were really helpful and gave use useful ideas and have good local knowledge. It's a 10 min walk from the station or you can use the car park for £10 a day.

Decent menu. Lovely building. Ham hock good. Sea bass fab. Cheese straight from the fridge : — ( One staff member arrived to take drink orders when we arrived, as the main bar was closed. When we requested drink menus — he said it would take him a while to return, as he needed to sort out a leak in the kitchen. He then listed wines, took our orders and returned promptly, leading us to believe that the kitchen leak was in fact a leek, and not the dire emergency he implied!

Nice atmosphere with a cosy room just off the bar. Cocktails are slightly overpriced and are mediocre but the staff are very nice.

Stayed one night while in the area for work. Nice room, good location and a wide variety of good food available for breakfast.

We stopped for a quick bite prior to going to the local cinema. The bar interior design is 'bling is best'; not quite my cup of tea. However, the staff were very attentive, the beer was good and dinner, although basic, was keenly priced, well cooked and presented. Perfect for our needs on the day.

Lovely rooms and hotel. Door staff disgusting. My son stayed here with his father and uncle and was refused to even enter the hotel he was 17. Because he didnt have ID even though he told the security guard several times that he was staying at this hotel. Rude. I would only recommend staying at this hotel if you had proof that you where over 18. When reporting the incident the next day at check out the lady on the desk knew exactly the person I was complaining about. So this obviously happens often.

Lovely building and friendly staff, however we had a room next to the lift which resulted in us being woken up regularly throughout the night. Coupled with uncomfortable pillows and the room being boiling hot we did not get a restful nights sleep. Left feeling disappointed.

Stayed on a secret escapes offer. This included afternoon tea with prosecco, 3 course dinner and breakfast. Staff friendly, food good, room comfortable — typically standard hotel room. The only negative is cost of using their car park.

Service and decor is four stars. I was just a tad let down by the cocktail menu. I love highly acidic and everything was sweet. They ought to offer some of the everyday cocktails with a twist. Spacing of the tables and chairs needs to be examined. Lightly loaded you force your way past vacant seats. This could be an issue at peak times.

Stayed one night, with a deal for cream tea, 2 course dinner plus B&B. Upon arrival we were offered a free upgrade to a superior room. The room was lovely but we did experience the noise from the bar during the night. It didn't feel appropriate for us to comment on this as this wasn't the room we were allocated.
All the staff we encountered were extremely friendly & polite. Repeated checks re our food, drinks & comfort.
Personally we had a great time & wouldn't hesitate to return.

Had a birthday lunch, food was poor, meat very dry, and menu very poor, couldn't advice any desert, some lady in staff was so horrible and unpolite, except one lovely lady who served us from biggining, not sure if I can advice to come to this restaurant for a nice meal.

Party night food was shite. Roast potatoes over cooked so hard couldn't get your fork in them. Sprouts frozen and rock hard. Pear tart yuk. Pastry so hard it shot off my plate. We waited for coffee to arrive. Nope. I asked a waitress to be told. Yes included in the price but we don't bring it out unless asked as most don't want it! Well we did. 8 cups please. No mints. Air con was very cold we asked if it could be turned down a bit. Music to dance was very good but didn't need the music to be played so loud when we were trying to eat. Overall young untrained staff. Not worth the money we paid.

Very poor experience — couldn't sleep as music in the bar directly under our room very loud until after midnight — service in the restaurant very poor at dinner — no olive oil for dressing for a salad they said they didn't have any olive oil! Breakfast was absolute disorganised chaos — no glasses for juice, no plates for food and no cooked food on the buffet — staff very young and very poorly trained — shame as it is a lovely place but needs running properly — we would not revisit!

Just spent a 2 night stay at the hotel. Managed to get a parking space in the small car park (very small spaces! ) and thank goodness the front of the hotel is so pretty as the back is very disappointing. Hotel quaint and room was lovely (no stains on the carpets as below). Staff helpful — receptionist was lovely and showed us a map with walks etc. Lounge comfortable and inviting and bar staff friendly. Staff in general over the afternoon and evening period were very young and there was a lack of any supervision. Meal first night very acceptable. Second night bad. Service slow, balsamic reduction poured over everything including our butter for the rolls (? ) and portions only what could be described as laughable. We missed the fish portion on the plate as it was hidden by 3 new potatoes it was so miniscule. Food over priced and kitchen clearly not up to providing good meals on that night. Thought Kings Lynn looked tired and run down actually. Won't be going back unfortunately.

Booked and paid for 3 nights but only stayed for 2. We booked on-line after viewing pictures of the hotel, rooms, etc. When we arrived we were told that we were too early to be checked in. They told us to put our bags in a room beside the front desk. This room was actually a cleaning / storage room and smelled of cigarette smoke. It was not a secured room. Our room did not look like any of the rooms that they had posted on their website. We went down to the front desk to complain so they gave us another room which wasn't any better than the first. Small bedroom, tiny tiny TV on the wall, old bathroom. We were woken up on day 2 at 6:00 am by the staff asking if we had water on the floor in our room because the breakfast room on the main floor had a lot of water coming through the ceiling. No apologies for waking us up. We ate supper one night in the hotel. We were told what was on the special menu but received something different. When we questioned it one staff member knew the menu the other didn't. We didn't eat the wrong item but still had to pay for it. The dining staff seemed very rushed and pushy and not very friendly. This hotel looks great from the outside, and on their website, it is in a great location, but their advertising does not give a true reflection of what you are actually getting. My husband and I would not recommend staying here.

Stayed there last night for a reunion dinner Rooms are very comfortable and well appointed-and very quiet even on a saturday night Catering in the Walpole ballroom was excellent both for the dinner and for this morning's breakfast. First time I ever had breakfast in a ballroom to be honest! The staff are all lovely and friendly Would thoroughly recommend it. It is perfectly situated for shopping-the main shopping street is right next door — or for exploring the old town which has some lovely old buildings.

Stayed here a number of times now. New section at the back is a bit like a travelodge, old bit at the front is really nice, but expensive. Restaurant is very good, but a bit fancy for me. Staff are always helpful and friendly.

Centrally located with a modest, traditional feel. The staff are friendly enough and the service fine. The decor is very traditional but don't expect too many mod cons. The breakfast is for me expensive, especially if you don't go for the hot option. But it is tasty. I enjoyed my stay here.

Friendly staff, but bathrooms could be better.

The hotel is in the heart of the town and it is very easy to get about. The rooms are quite big and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is comfortable and the food is good.

Room 23 is large and spacious. I didn't like the shower arrangement (there is a bath) as it dribbled and was complicated to work out how to use! They have a rainwater head shower as well as a normal shower but it's not clear which tap is for which head and of course there's the bath taps too! The glass door in the bath stops you from putting the shower on to warm up before you get in. Car park is very, very small so if you are coming then get here early is my advice! Even if you arrive early there's no guarantee you will get a space! However, kings Lynn is full of car parks and there's one right outside the hotel which isn't too expensive but if you are staying overnight there is a long stay car park round the back of the corn exchange which is the theatre across the road from the hotel where the charge is £2.90 for 24 hrs. We had to use this throughout our stay and though cheap, added to our expenses. Oh and by the way, if you do manage to park in the hotel car park, you have to walk down a dark alleyway to get to the front of the hotel despite the fact that from the car park there is a sign that says "Reception" giving you the impression that if you head towards this sign you will find the reception there. You won't! Don't bother with the Wi-Fi! It's a joke! I had to use my mobile data in order to get anything at all. The info in their booklet doesn't tell you how to get the Wi-Fi to work it just gives you the password.

Staff very welcoming and friendly. Good location for town. Room a good size and very comfortable. En suite lacked a bath for those who like to have a soak. Maybe other rooms have one. Best ask when booking if this matters to you. Room heating wound up to the max but still cool. Don't take a room near the lift as the lift doors make more noise than a Clydeside shipyard and the constantly repeating words "doors closing" will drive you insane! Wifi signal pathetic. Restaurant menu needs more choice. Food while beautifully presented lacked flavour. Sweet was excellent! Busy restaurant staff very pleasant and smart but occasionally needed to be reminded you were there. Car park minute but large market square car park at front entrance a £1 a night til 8am. Car park attendant checking tickets at 8am. The staff, comfort & decor made it what it is. The chef's contribution was minimal.

Good central location with pleasant decor. Don't expect to be able to get a parking space in the tiny hotel car park. The room was too hot, the shower dribbly and the Wi-Fi connection a joke. However, the bar is very nice and the seating area downstairs is nice to hang out in.

Restaurant is a dichotomy, food has excellent ingredients, is cooked perfectly but the menu doesn't quite fit the hotel or the town, it has six soup dishes! I can't imagine they're getting much local trade!
