Great location for visiting the Norfolk coast whilst being close to the centre of Fakenham and we really enjoyed our three night break. Very friendly welcoming staff and we look forward to more visits 😎 really tasty breakfasts to start the day. Thank you! Rod and Jo.

Having stayed in room 17 at the Wensum Lodge Hotel for 2 nights from 1 to 3 October 2020 my Wife and I were very disappointed. So much so, if I could have found an alternative at short notice we would not have stayed. To be clear, having seen the pictures on your web site we were not expecting anything but a basic clean room. The £99 a night seemed a bit on the high side for what was on offer but then there isn't much competition in Fakenham. When we looked around the room there were several problems. Thick dust on one of the bedside cabinets, the light above the mirror in the bathroom and on other furniture. I thought rooms were supposed to be deep cleaned in these covid times. Although with that level of dust the virus would have become inactive because of the length time it would have taken for this build up. The sink in the bathroom is cracked and the crack is black and an impossible area to clean properly. The window frame is dirty on the inside. The curtains are ill fitting and poorly hung. There is such a thing as shabby chic — this is just shabby. The main bathroom light doesn't fire up on the first attempt. Sound proofing between the rooms is non existant. The fan in the bathroom is dirty. The Toilet doesn't flush properly needs 2 or 3 flushes to get rid of one piece of toilet paper. The shower head requires descaling. The mattress is past its best providing little support and badly stained.

Food good. Staff very helpful when I had to stay an extra night due to extreme weather (Storm Ciara 2020).

Brilliant, friendly, attentive staff with very clean, pretty rooms with amazingly comfy beds and pillows.

Ideal location for travelling in the area. Room was compact but clean. Breakfast was good and had a good choice Nice to come back to after a day out to sit by the river to have a drink and watch the trout jumping in the water Staff were very friendly.

The staff at Wensum Lodge have been absolutely amazing! They have provided above and beyond service during wet weather and other tourist disasters, they were extreamly accomodating with dog which was great! Breakfasts were beautiful, freshly cooked, and the room was clean tidy, comfortable and cosy. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, will definately reccommend!

This hotel is in a beautiful setting, goes to show appearances can be deceptive! It's sweet and charming in a Norfolky way. Very tiny shower cubicle, and very light rooms as soon as the sun rises (5am! ). Breakfast was reasonable.

Can not fault the service from Chris, he seemed to do everything he was amazing couldn't be anymore helpful. Unfortunately we was let down by the service when he wasn't there. The rooms are spacious, clean and cosy. Could do with a little updating. All in all a good stay.

Staff need to sort their customer service out, some of them are lovely, one girl in particular needs to be trained on how to smile and talk to other human beings, never experienced anything like it. Breakfast was ok, toast cold and hard on both mornings we were there, rooms bit old fashioned and the sheets smelt awful like they’d been washed in mould good location, round the corner from fakenham town centre, easy to drive to other locations.

Room 9 was very cold (old sash windows only a single electric radiator), shower pressure was not very high. The door to the room slammed very fast whenever you opened it, I'm sure this would disturb other guests! Parking is quite limited. Breakfast was substantial and of good quality produce. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Good for the price we paid. Bed really comfortable. Extremely accommodating staff. They set our breakfast table up each morning in the bar so that we could have our dogs with us. Excellent breakfast each morning too.

We spent a night here because it was the only place left with availability. It's a great place to stay if you want to meet the locals and party down with them which is exactly what was happening the night we stayed. The music from the bar was so loud that even with the windows closed, we could still hear it clearly. And what you can't hear you can feel in bass beat. The rooms are adequate if it is the last place around for miles with availability. They are cheaply furnished all around. The curtains do not block out the sun, and the rooms are unbearably hot with very warm duvets to boot. And the beds, the worst bed I have slept in for years. It was so soft, we both woke up with twisted backs. The pub and restaurant areas which are tacky and dismal, serve a mediocre English breakfast. All-in-all, I would say it is way overpriced for the quality and the noise. Don't let the bucolic pictures fool you, this place is not a quiet little country house.

This is my first ever time of writing a review and I'm only doing it because I can't believe how bad it was. My niece had her wedding reception there and not only was the service very poor so was the food. On arriving the first fault was that my wife received a dirty glass with her first drink. Then when we was seated at our table I noticed that my wine glass had a lipstick stain on it although they did replace it when informed. When it came to toast the bride and groom, the best man didn't get a drink nor did both of my children through out the meal, we had to go to the bar and buy then coke. They were not looked after at all. After the speeches the groom had to inform us the the meal would be another 30 minutes. Why I don't know because when the statrer came out it was cold and not very tasty. Main course was burnt roast potatoes, cold aunt bessies yorkshire pudding and thinly slice beef in gravy, the type you would either microwave or boil in the bag, the condiments arrived on our table when we had almost finished eating. The staff was poorly trained if at all, leaning over you serving the food to others and whilst retrieving the plates and not being able to smile On a plus note the dessert was nice.
