Wonderful place lovely staff, very relaxing woth a very chilled atmosphere.

This was our 3 third visit in 7 weeks and what more can I say. This place is amazing, they go above and beyond. Staff are fabulous from front of house to back, they are a credit to the management. Food and service amazing, decor stunning and on all 3 occasions everything perfect.

Been twice in the last 6 weeks, Each time the venues have been superb, The food and service could not be faulted, staff very helpful and pleasant, The rooms on both occasions have been dressed beautifully, Could not recommend Thornton Hall Hotel highly enough.

We’ve had the most amazing experience at Thornton hall hotel last night 😀 All the staff are very welcoming and go over and above in making the guests stay relaxed and comfortable. Our meals in the lawns restuarant was 10/10 and a taste of luxury. The service was faultless. The guitarist was a wonderful touch last night in the conservatory and even did a few requests. Absolutely lovely place. So clean and well kept. Friendly staff and very helpful. Spar and outdoor area was also amazing. Only thing that lets it down is you can’t have spirits outside in the hot tub area but wine and beer is fine. Great if your a wine and beer person. Aside from that I can’t complain. Breakfast was great and evening meal was decent.

I loved the afternoon tea in gorgeous surroundings with wonderfully attentive staff.

One of the best stays we've had from start to finish, greeted as we arrived, adapted spa booking due to needs after surgery, great cocktails 241 14:00 — 17:00 at the moment. Staff and food was amongst or was best we had, restaurant service excellent we had friends join us for evening meal, all staff throughout our stay were cheerful and helpful one even telling us how much she loved her job. highly reccomend and will be back.

Nothing but 5* service from the beginning to end of our stay, every single member of staff where friendly and attentive. Spa treatments are the best we've received at a hotel resort, we even had a glass off fiz in the outdoor hot tub which really added to the experience. Our evening meals where divine, some of the best food we've had for a while. Followed by breakfast in our room the next morning was also delicious. Already cannot wait for our next visit.

I loved it all. Staff were really friendly and helpful especially the restaurant manager who could not do enough to help us (I think he was called Carl). Amazing! Room was sumptuous and Pa was fabulous — can’t wait to go again.

Had our wedding here on the 19 November 2021. I can’t praise them enough. We had the Crystal suite and it was absolutely beautiful. Everyone was commenting on how wonderful it was.

What a day! Me and my husband had our reception at Thornton Hall and we could not have asked for a better day.
After having to cancel our original reception at another local hotel, Geoff and his team were so helpful and kind in making our special day happen in less than a week.
He was able to sort out every detail for us from drinks on arrival, to the meal, to table setting to evening snacks. The whole day went without a glitch.
The girls who were serving us were amazing and so obliging, even hanging off with the food whilst we had some photos taken outside to the constant ordering of drinks — thank you so much, particularly to Emily!
The food was absolutely delicious and everyone complimented how nice the meal was.
Our room was also beautiful with swans set up on the bed with rose petals.

Hotel lovely food gorgeous, had lovely treatments done and a swim in the pool. Staff very pleasant and happy. Just had a lovely meal on the terrace.

I couldn’t recommend Thornton Hall enough! We got married here in September and to be able to say we had a stress free wedding is music to any brides ears. The service was on top form from the beginning to the end. We stayed here for 3 nights and all of the rooms that ourselves and our guests stayed in were excellent. The food was phenomenal and I couldn’t praise the lovely staff enough! Nothing was too much to ask.
We recently stayed again (a couple of weeks ago) for my Husbands birthday and had the most amazing time once again! We look forward to staying again and again to reminisce on our perfect day and create more memories ❤️.

Brilliant meal brilliant service.

Spent 2 nights here for my birthday hotel is lovely the interior is very classy, food is lovely in the restaurant, dual massage was amazing, outdoor jacuzzi is unreal beautiful views and open in all weathers, staff very welcoming, polite and tentative would highly recommend, we were only suppose to stay one night but couldn’t resist and booked an extra night last minute via reception. Will be visiting again!

Had a wonderful weekend at the hotel, we couldn’t fault it. Lovely rooms, friendly and helpful staff, fantastic spa and excellent Covid measures in place. We thought the staff at the hotel should be congratulated they were very friendly and helpful especially the 2 female waitresses who greeted us and served us at breakfast. What a difference it makes to have personal friendly service. Loved the hotel one of my favourites and so many wonderful places to visit nearby.

Fantastic venue — I mainly go for the spa, pool & cafe. The only problem with Thornton Hall is that their Wi-Fi never works.

Best spa I’ve been to by far, reasonable prices drinks, beautiful afternoon tea great food and rooms.

From the second we walked through the door, we loved this place!
Such friendly accommodating staff and such a nice, clean and fresh looking hotel.
We got married here on 11th January & the day was absolutely perfect from start to finish.
From when we booked the wedding up to the big day itself, our wedding planner Jessica was always available to discuss anything and advise.
On the day itself, Emily was exceptional at coordinating the day and the staff waiting on and serving behind the bar were just wonderful and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble!
Excellent selection of gins is definitely worth a mention — this was a delight to a fair few of our guests!
The day was just unforgettable! The Cristal Suite looked incredible, the food was delicious (which we knew it would be after our menu tasting), the DJ was great fun and played exactly what we had asked for.
We stayed in character room no5 on our wedding night, which was simply stunning! A super big and comfy 4 poster bed, HUGE roll top bath in an amazing bathroom and beautiful views over the gardens.
We then stayed in character room no4 the following night, which was also gorgeous — again with a great big comfy bed, beautiful decor & the coolest high tech shower we have ever seen!
Loved the Espa toiletries & my new hubby was particularly impressed with the coffee machines!

This place is fabulous our second time here, staff are brilliant, and spa facilities are the best:-) book direct with the hotel and you get free upgrade and free drinks xx.

Had our xmas staff night out here last night, fantastic night, fab venue and all the staff were friendly and courteous, great service, would fully recommend the venue for events.

The swimming pool and spa were excellent and the food served at the Brasserie was also very good. Can't fault the staff who were super friendly and professional. The room I booked was disappointing considering how much I paid for it with several faults and the room in general feeling very antiquated and in need of a refurb. Not good when you've paid over £250.00 for one night and you can only select about 7 channels on the TV because of a weak signal. The toilet didn't flush correctly and the shower also didn't work correctly and required the skills of a safe cracker to perfect. A mixed weekend then. Would stay again but wouldn't shell out for the executive room with a garden view until they have refurbished them.

Beautiful rooms and lovely staff. Lawns restaurant is more of a dining experience than just good food — highly recommended. Breakfast is always delicious. The spa facilities are great, especially the outdoor hot tub. Perfect place for a relaxing and luxurious stay!

The guy at check-in was very pleasant, tall lad with blonde hair very efficient at his job nothing was a problem. We stayed in hotel for a friend's wedding. Room was spacious lovely decor, had everything you need. The staff all had smiles, even the girls cleaning rooms all said hello. First time here gorgeous place, lovely gardens, happy staff and a large car park. Would definitely recommend to all my friends & family in Scotland. Will definitely visit here again.

Not a great help to me, poor customer service Called several times been cut off placed on hold transferred to another department then cut off then promised a call back which didn’t happen, not great when you just want to book an appointment. I was trying to treat myself to a facial with a voucher my daughter had bought me, just made me give up will give the voucher to a friend. Differing opinions yes you can have this facial, no you can’t, I’m having chemo at the moment and just wanted a treat with creams I have used for 20 years plus, such a let down! Was told I could have nail treatment or hair appointment or body massage only not much good when I don’t have any hair, nails and have a picc line in your arm very disappointed ☹️

What a fabulous overnight stay, Fabulous Room, Fabulous Food, we relaxed that much in the spa we didnt want to leave. Staff very polite, friendly, and helpful, nothing was to much trouble, what a hidden gem, will certainly recommend and yes we will be back. Thank You.

We stayed at Thornton Hall Hotel and Spa for our wedding anniversary and we had a lovely relaxing time. The staff work very hard and alway ready to help you. Alway greeting you every time they see you! Our room was very nice, we even had a telly in the bathroom! We had an afternoon tea in the Lawns Restaurant which was really tasty but far too much for us. We loved that you could get unlimited hot drinks The spa was amazing! We both loved the outside hot tub! We had a couples massage and we both enjoyed it and felt realaxed afterwards. Overall we loved our stay and would definitely come back.

Booked two simultaneous reflexology appointments ahead of my hen do but when we arrived at the spa, after travelling from Liverpool, we discovered that these were changed. We left feeling really disappointed and eventually decided to email and complain as we expected a call from management to apologise but received nothing. When they replied and apologised they said they hoped we would return soon but sadly we won’t. Really disappointed with this service after frequenting the spa for years. Won’t be returning.

A superb experience from start to finish however what particularly stood out was the exceptional attitude of the staff. I have never stayed in a hotel and come away with such a good impression of the team at the hotel. Facilities, decoration and quality of food were also to a very high standard. Thank you very much for such an amazing experience, I would certainly highly recommend!

Stayed recently. Spa facilities excellent. Had 2 wonderful treatments, abbey extremely helpful. Ate in the brasserie on this visit. Food was amazing. Wendy was the most warm and helpful host. I can't thank her enough for what she did for me when I felt unwell. I will most definitely return very soon.

We visited here for an overnight stay with afternoon tea and dinner for a hen weekend. We had spa treatments included in our package. The dining room where we were having afternoon tea was not ready when we arrived so this meant our afternoon tea was delayed. This then made us late for our treatments and as a result a couple of our group had reschedule for the next day The hotel were very apologetic however and compensated with some complimentary drinks. The food was unfaltering and the place itself was nice enough but could maybe do with a little spruce up!

Hotel is very nice. Rooms are excellent and the spa is brilliant — the ice cave is well worth a visit in itself. Sadly my stay was ruined due to a domestic taking place in the next room which went on for nearly 3 hours and was only resolved by the police being called. Not the fault of the hotel and they were excellent at dealing with my complaint. Highly recommended.

What a fantastic weekend! My husband booked the hotel and spa for my birthday and he could not have made a better choice from the moment we arrived the staff could not do enough for us, the food was fantastic and the restaurant staff where lovely. The spa was great I had two treatments and they where well worth the money the young lady that did my treatments was very good and explained how the treatments worked and what they should achieve. All in all I would say try it for yourself you won't be disappointed.

Great overnight stay. Had use of the extensive swimming & fitness facilities followed by a massage. Rom was great, very spacious and modern. Dinner in the Lawns restaurant was top notch, with attentive service. Highly recommend Thornton Hall.

The hotel is always nice to visit, the cafe adjacent to the spa is a super meeting point for business meetings for central Wirral. The coffee isnnive and hot and reasonably priced too. Clean and inviting.

Beautiful building and interior. I was here for a friend's wedding. The set up was brilliant and the wedding lovely. I would say that the prices are absolutely ridoculous for drinks however. £18 for two double gin and lemonades!

Attended the family christmas meal. It is the third year I have been with my extended family. Absolutely fantastic event for all ages and excellent food.

Stay for two nights for a birthday treat. We stayed in room 5 and it was gorgeous not just the fabulous decor it also had wonderful views of the gardens and a spacious boutique bathroom. The hall itself is full a surprises and a history that makes it a very special. The spa is first class my favourites were the two out door jacuzzis, magical under the stars. We dined in the brasserie and the restaurant. We enjoyed the causal atmosphere and tasty food of the brasserie, we had excellent friendly service. The restaurant was on a different level, outstanding food and service, a little more formal but very comfortable. I had a mini melt down when I thought I had lost my engagement ring, I would like to say a special thank you to the spa staff and patrons who were so supportive and helpful when faced with a blundering wreck. If this hotel needed any proof of its success it would not have to look any further than its own staff, an amazing, professional, kind and happy bunch of people who make you feel so welcome, they work hard to make you stay memorable. Thanks to Lisa and Chloe for making our short break unforgettable.

Cover a wedding here, amazing place and the staff were really friendly… great place to have your wedding with beautiful view at the back the the open countryside. Would defo recommends this place. Might go back and try the spa facilities next time.

10 ladies stayed Saturday 11th Nov we loved every min from arrival at reception, to our full day in the spa! Topped our afternoon off in the outdoor hot tub with prosecco! Entering our evening with private dining 3 course meal!

Friendly welcoming staff. Nice room with a little terrace to enjoy the morning sun. Brasserie food was good (tapas and more traditional main courses) but took ages to arrive. More staff would have helped. Breakfast was great; plenty of choice.

Staff were very polite and accomodating. The facilities were first class. Set in beautiful surroundings with plenty of on site parking all made for a really enjoyable visit.

Went to Thornton Hall for Summer Time Spa Package — great spa facilities including 2 outdoor hot tubs and a novelty snow cave. However, the stand-out factor for me had to be The Lawns Restaurant: a 3-course A la Carte dinner was included in our package, but in addition, we were served 4 delicious canapés. All locally-sourced food and friendly service. A really inspired menu and the highlight of a wonderful weekend retreat. I will definitely be returning again!

We attended a wedding at the venue. It was amazing. The staff were incredibly organised, converting the same space 3 times throughout the day. First was the beautiful ceremony setup. Within an hour this was transformed into a beautiful area for a sit down meal for 75 people. The food was incredible. And again later this same space was used for the reception. All of which went off without a hitch. Massive credit to the staff for their efforts.

I've never seen such incompetence at a bar. 1) hardly any of the staff knew anything about drinks. Customers having to point at taps, or describe the position of bottles for the staff to select. 2) on the draft beer, they had just two tap ends that they had to keep washing and switching between — they hadn't even got a tap end for the soft drinks, meaning Coke & Lemonade fired out in all directions at a 45° angle 3) The staff also seemed unaware how to pour a drink — pouring vertically into glasses, and then slowly topping up… It genuinely took 3 painful minutes of watching one staff member pouring a cider until we cracked and started having to do it ourselves 4) while pouring Guinness and Creamflow, they seemingly hadn't been told to let it settle — instead, pouring a third of a pint, thinking it didn't look right, and throwing it away… More than once! I had to angrily shout at the guy in order for him to listen to me and leave the drink where it was. 5) I'd never seen an Archers and lemonade served in a pint glass before, but I have now! And when it came up table glassware, although there were glasses for red, white and water — the staff used whatever they grabbed first.

We booked through spa breaks and was a Christmas present. The reception sorted out our evening meal allowance after a bit of a confusion but all sorted very quickly. The food in the tapas grill was amazing!
Our evening was then entertained by the very strange service in the bar. The manager was an absolute joke leaving his staff to deal with complaints and wrong checks he was also refusing to serve wedding guests in the bar and kept telling them to go back to their bar that is staffed for them which is so rude! We were not in the wedding party but had we have been we would have complained and made sure that the people paying for the wedding were having their guested treated so bad. Money is money at the end of the day and to turn people away is awful when you had 4 staff on doing not very much and he was standing around. The poor girl on the bar looked mortified by his comments and apologised to everyone on his behalf.
The hot stone massage is great very relaxing the pool and outside area is lovely and came ash verg chilled. We had lunch in the tapas grill too which was also very nice even if it was a little slow. We would come back.

Had a fantastic stay at the hotel. The room was fantastic and the staff great from start to finish! We loved the spa and enjoyed the rasul treatment. The snow room was also a great experience. We will be returning!

The hotel is easy to access, with more than ample parking that wraps around the hotel. All the staff are charming, helpful and prompt in their service. The hotel itself is set in a nice part of the Wirral, surrounded by open fields and a nice dashing of trees. The barbecue we attended (hosted by a business partner of ours) was superb, with loads of fresh food and plenty of comfortable places to sit and enjoy it. The conference facilities are great too, the sound being piped through to the washrooms which helps for those longer talks and events, allowing guests to stay up to speed with the talks and happenings. Overall well worth a visit for overnight or just to stop by. Will try the Spa there one day.

Attended a wedding. Good attention to detail from staff, v. Helpful. Bar quite expensive but expected in this sort of hotel. Concierge excellent. Did not view a room.

Good start. Pleasant reception and portering. Lovely room. Good lunch in brasserie very good spa experience. The evening meal was awful and inadequate. Paid supplement for steak. Don't know what animal it came from but could not cut it with knife. Poorly trained waiting on staff Meals came out spasmodically and in some cases incorrectly. We were offered two bottles of wine between twelve as a peace offering. No member of staff approached us to apologise leaving young members to face the music. Very poor Wi-Fi and phone reception almost non existent in fact. Shame. The catering and restaurant staff let the Hotel down needs a complete training programme for waiting on staff and a new executive chef in the kitchens.

I had a lovely stay. As a lone female traveler I was made to fee welcome in the public areas. The staff were very kind and polite. The food was excellent and the spa and gym were top class. Well done. Highly recommended.

We booked the springtime spa ritual offer and stayed in a room for 4 people which was recently refurbished. The service was second to none right from being shown to our room to service at breakfast the next day. Our 3 course meal was actually 8 courses with imaginative dishes. The spa was beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed the Rasul treatment which we booked for all 4 of us. Our skin felt soft and fresh for days afterwards. I cannot recommend enough!

Thornton Hall was a fabulous break away but the food was so disappointing. We ate at the Brasserie and sent it back 3 times. I used to be a chef and their chef needed 4 goes to cook a steak. Finally when he got it right… The sauce was made out of a packet or a jar. In a ward… crap.

Amazing hotel. We visited for a friend's wedding and the whole experience was faultless. Helpful staff, beautiful hotel and comfortable rooms. Would recommend to anyone looking for a hotel venue.

Enjoyed the spa facilities, sauna and pool; a very relaxing environment in all. Went to the lawns restaurant for afternoon cocktails and the brasserie for a bite to eat. Thought some of the service could be improved. The rooms were great, nice size, good facilities and once again nice and clean.

Visited the Spa as a guest and have done a few times. Nice facilities and it was a good way to wind down; jets to the back, a few laps, a steam room (hot like you're somewhere exotic), weird 'experience' showers/snow cave that were… different (but good different). It can get busy given that it's a small complex but there's always one of three hot tubs you can 'wait' in for a lane in the pool. Only thing I'd fault is the guest price.

Beautiful hotel, room was perfect, staff couldn't do enough for us. The spa was fantastic especially with the outdoor hot tub. Only downside is that there is no direct link from hotel to spa so if you have finished in the spa you have to walk back to your rooms outside.

We had our wedding reception here a year ago and returned to celebrate our first anniversary. A fantastic hotel with excellent and attentive staff. We stayed in one the newly refurbished rooms and utilised the pool and spa area. Unfortunately I missed out on treatments as the spa books up well in advance! Only thing I would note is that robes and slippers are not provided for non treatment guests. In the evening we ate in the lawns restaurant and chose the taster menu which was fantastic, again so attentive and the chef even catered to my individual requirements. Our server for the evening was Helen and she is a fantastic young lady who will go far. Breakfast the next morning was a selection of both continental and full English. Breakfast does get busy and the staff restock as quickly as they can. But be prepared to wait for certain things if you don't go down early. We will be heading back there soon!

Went ove4 for boxing day food. Everything was immaculate and staff where very friendly.

The hotel is set in its own grounds a few miles from M53, a good location for visiting Chester or Liverpool, would not be suitable unless you had your own transportation. The room was excellent, beautifully appointed and spotless. Service in the bar was very good, staff were knowledgeable and friendly, a very good selection of gin. We ate in Lawns restaurant the service was OK, the staff were friendly, and plentiful but this lead to them not being very efficient. We were not offered the a la carte menu, but a set menu, which was a little limited, the food was OK but not fantastic. All in all, I would recommend the hotel, it is fantastic value for money, though I think the bar and restaurant are overpriced.

What a wonderful spa! The hotel is delightful but the spa is undeniably the highlight here as it boasts some wonderful treatments as well as excellent sauna and steam room facilities. The Lawns restaurant is also fantastic with Matt Worswick creating some brilliant dishes.

Possibly the best Spa Break ever, wonderful, food, wonderful team of staff. Very welcoming, 100% relaxed upon departure. Phenomenal value for money given the beautiful hotel room and excellent facilities. Sitting in the infinity pool was so very relaxing. Thank You Thornton Hall.

Absolutely brilliant. We had our wedding reception here and they couldn't have been more accommodating, they even fitted a Strongbow pump for myself and friends on request for the wedding. Gorgeous place, great gardens for our photos, food that everyone loved, friendly happy staff and a big clean comfy room to stay in. I'd happily live the day over again, and I wouldn't change a thing.

Fabulous! We stopped for afternoon tea and the staff were brilliant! Really helpful and friendly especially to our dog. Food was perfect in a lovely peaceful garden. Definitely will be back.

We had our Christmas Party there and you pay for the venue, not the quality or food portion sizes. The yorkshire pudding was lovely though and all the waiting staff were brilliant.
